Maybe I'll see you out there on the lake someday in my 1977 crusader!
In HS,86, picked up a 14 foot 67 Elgin. Same design as his 1st boat there. Tossed a 45 on it. Loved that thing. So light, the 45 picked it up on plane in a heartbeat, did maybe 40. Spent 2 summers with it. Great times. And great boat here. Things a beauty
Great video! I like the idea of the access doors to the floor to clean out debris. I ripped up many boat floors and found all the water channels completely clogged from being stored outside with no boat cover. Cheers from the Finger Lakes!
Had a 1000 dollar boat fall in my lap last summer, 81 Glastron ssv 167. Me and my three sons have been slowly making improvements. Re made all the interior and fixed all the mechanical issues. We have had Dime-Boat Darrell on the water three times now and every time we find something else to improve as we go. Nothing like the memories already made with my family and this boat. Little over 2000k invested so far.
I was searching for a family boat and came across a jet boat a guy was selling during my search. Which lead me to searching on what it could be and found your video. Awesome project and awesome boat. So I like what you said. Why buy a boring boat. I am an old gear head nut and was looking at building my first hot rod. You have inspired me into thinking about building this boat instead of getting something else. This would be way too much fun. It has a V8 old school motor and a Bayjet drive. Just have to finish it. Similar to your project. Can't wait to see what you do next. Cheers.
Hot rod boat > hot rod car - No speed limits - Bikinis - Everyone's having a good time - No suspension work - No rust repair One thing tho, squirters are not efficient, way less efficient than a prop, so given two boats of equal size weight and shape, the prop will have a higher top speed and be more fuel efficient. I don’t know you and I don’t know how this was recommended to me but I’m glad it was and I’m excited to see more. I’m subscribed!! Also you’re inspirational in my search for my next boat.
Cool boat, love the lines. I myself have seen a couple of unique boats like yours sitting on peoples properties over the years and wondered if I should buy the thing, to restore, but Im too old now to get into a full resto. However I just bought a 88 formula 272sr1. Its more of a boat to appreciate the classic look and feel, and I have always wanted a big offshore style boat, so I will have lots of fun with this one... Who cares if there expensive to run, your living your life, and that's what we are here for... Enjoy it that's a cool boat.
Dude a formula sr1 is like my dream offshore boat. Love the gunship styling of the helm, the graphics, the interior. If I ever get a boat for big water I’m getting one. Jealous!!!!
Great job; I've loved working on my boats. My brother and I started out with a 15' Seaswirl and each have 38 footers now and a 66'. A great way to have fun, socialize and learn several crafts.
Love to look at your videos, just found them, lovely couple that help each other and have so fun together. I wish more people are like you two, hats off, love you ❤
Twin tunnel is AKA Mod-V, I had the same hull back in the day with a 455 olds and a stock Berkley pump with a B impeller. Had so much fun in that boat!!
@@ADDvanced my next jet boat was a Wriedt Custom shallow V, it was such a blast on the rivers in Pittsburgh, just got tired of replacing the Olds 445s. I bought the all from every junkyard in the area so when I ran out, there weren't anymore...haha...

Thanks! Not really tho, just sort of figuring it out as I go. I'm actually building a blue one right now, that will be way faster than this one. New videos every sunday, check them out, about to redo the entire transom/stringer with advanced composites, no wood whatsoever, lighter, MORE SPEED
Great job! I am moving from PWC, current one 310hp, to boats. I am not much into carpentry, so I am very hesitant about redoing a floor or transoms. My goal within the next year is a late 90's Checkmate Convincor. It should be ideal for the river I always ride here in Florida.
You don't need to be a good carpenter for something like this; it's just hacking it to close to the right shape with a jigsaw, then using a belt sander until it fits decent. You make up for any gaps using resin and microballoons to make a thicker plastic putty. It's pretty hack imho. lol.
@@ADDvanced that is very encouraging which gives me an excuse to buy more tools. You made it look so easy while I would be moving along like a snail hahaha. You saved yourself a lot of money and I am inspired 👍
A little history for your boat. In your video you keep referring to it as a “twin tunnel” when in fact it does have a name. Back around the early eighties (80-81) the APBA sanctioned a class of boats called Mod VP which stands for modified V hull production. A handful of boat builders made these boats (Mod - VP) for this class, Sleekcraft, Eliminater, and Stoker to name a few. They were faster and much more stable then their V hull counterparts. Very cool boats and still popular today if you can manage to get your hands on one, rare boats. Great to see someone restoring these! Great video.
One mans boring boat is another’s treasure. Bought a trailer for my boat and it came bundled with a free POS boat. A boring 1975, 19’ runabout with a 165 Merc I/O. Ripped out the interior, cleaned it up, tuned it up, replaced all the rubber parts on the motor. Installed 2 cheap seats and a $300 kicker and gave it to my father in law for his retirement. He loves his fishing boat. He could afford new if he wanted but that little boring boat is his treasure.
Awesome. Might want to check out my blue boat, I redo the transom and stringer with all advanced composites, and discuss the different types of glass. Cheers!
Thanks! I'm building another one, check out my other videos; episode one of the SST is out and an update is coming shortly. I'll go into way more detail on the repairs of the hull in this one, if you're interested.

I see the water lines underneath the headers but don’t understand how they work. Also could you post a link to the headers ? And are they pronounced steleens or steleins headers? Thanks @ADDvanced
@@sheadelargy2445 I don't think you want to buy these headers, as these cost around $10,000 for a pair. I lucked out on them from someone who did not know what they are. Start googlign drag boats, water goes in through a pick up (in my case the stern drive), goes through a hose and cools the power steering, then goes into the waterpump on the front of the engine. This then goes through the engine and comes out near the thermostat, which splits and goes down both sides of the engine, and into the headers, and then out the back.
