Wow, great match! I can't believe I never found that before, seeing how Randleman is somewhat of an icon now. I met him where I work in Vegas and he was really cool. Now about some comments below... I'm from upstate N.Y. originally, coached all over including 8 years in Cali, and have been to many tournaments all over. I saw tough wrestlers from everywhere, incredible talent from California, and Iowa, etc... Ohio has always been solid; deep with lineups of great young wrestlers. However... even if things change over the years so other states become the new powerhouses, I have NEVER seen tougher competition at all ages, pre-college, pre-internet (the internet ruined our ability of finding the source of original, innovative talent ---it can be studied everywhere..) than PENNSYLVANIA! I won some matches down there, but even their mediocre kids are tough and place high when outside Pennsylvania . AND they dominated nationally for decades too.
They couldn't find a bigger mat for this match? Before the first takedown, Splete is inches from the hardwood and puts his hand on it inadvertently a couple of times before the takedown occurs. That would have been stopped once his hand was off the mat nowadays. Splete was the better known and more decorated wrestler at the time of this match, and some people were just beginning to realize how great Randleman was. Obviously he only kept improving from here and became the the Monster at theOSU and beyond. RIP Kevin Randleman
Incorrect 😂. If they were young and got to train under modern coaching, they'd be just as good. These guys were probably more raw and athletic than most modern High schoolers.
@@kccline380yeah, under the same modern conditions of todays wrestlers maybe they’d be as good but I’m saying from the skill level shown in this match they aren’t even close
I'm glad Randleman won. splete was tough but he was always an overconfident prick! I heard he went to indiana on a full wrestling scholarship but he only lasted a few weeks.
@@jnightmare0 in Spletes defense he did get caught and was probably frustrated with himself and he did give Randleman a "that a boy" "slap-ass" on the way back to the line. Fun match to watch.
Can't no one even fuck with Aaron Pico..California wrestler and pound for the best in high school right now.look him up.National champ,and no one can even come close.. check his resume..
nickyandmya the wrestling competition in Cali isn't very elite, but yes Pico is a great wrestler and he's a pretty good boxer too, shame he lost his first pro mma match
california is not Ohio wrestling 8MYMY--besides PA, Ohio has the most All-Americans every year placing in college. Good wrestling in California, but how do you explain your California teams get whippied in Ohio tournaments and nationals? Naive comment

Great way to fight off the takedown right to the buzzer!! Randleman victorious.
Randleman looks even more like Melvin Guillard at this weight.

He lost to steiber, an Ohio wrestler.
The Sandusky name destroys the tournament.
I think thats the name of the city, not the person sandusky. Just coincidence.
Nonpeon ...umm what? It's in Sandusky OH
I'm a Randleman fan but the reffing in that was bogus. The other guy knew he won. Great match regardless!
RIP
@southern90rebel totally agree
