Love these homemade decorations! I can't draw worth a darn so the projector is great idea. My grandfather made Santa's Sleigh and Reindeers in the 1940's and my dad added a Rudolph with a red-light nose in the 1960's. Time for me to make some. I'm thinking Penguins and Snowmen are always popular.

These are adorable. I've noticed a LOT more homemade plywood decorations. I love it, more original than a ton of blow ups that are on every corner. I agree with the other commenter, a POSCA paint pen would be better and you can get a fat tip.
Can I ask how long these take? I have a huge side yard that I really want to do up next year but not sure how far ahead I need to start.

Thanks for commenting! I was tired of fighting the inflatables and really liked the older style homemade decorations.
I spent a few days on my first 2 decorations which were Mickey and Minnie. After learning how to do it I was able to complete the Tree, Donald, Daisy, Pete, Goofy, and Pluto in the same amount of time. I would guess it took about 3 days x 8 hours per day for the last 6 decorations.
Good Luck! Please send a video of your completed decorations!

That is how I did the tracing on mine, well done I might add. I used 5/8 plywood with white exterior and started delamination great the first rain. Maybe I will try the primer next time. Did you use a upgrade plywood (smooth finish ) BC PLYWOOD MAYBE.. I also used a router with a round over bit clean up the edges which possibly exposed too much of the laminated plywood which was only 5 ply.. Spar urethane must have made it really happen in the waterproofing situation. Well done video.

I used sanded plywood. I also painted and applied polyurethane to the sides. I’m concerned about de lamination but we have had a mild winter so far. I will let you know if I see any issues when we take them down next week.
