- Rodney Howard Brown is known as the Holy Ghost bar tender and he seems to think that the disciples acted like drunks on the day of Pentecost in Acts chapter 2. In this video he holds up a man who is unable to stand and seems to be drawling and he says "this is that which was spoken by the prophet Joel". His teachings and beliefs just seem to be so blasphemous and wicked it's unbelievable that anyone would sit there and listen to his heresy and garbage. The idea that Christians should be drunk in the Holy Ghost or slain in the spirit is simply bizarre. When the day of Pentecost came, the apostles were not laying their hands on people making them fall down backwards and acting like drunks.
If someone asks me to say out loud random words like a parrot, it is reason enough for me to walk out.
That also irritates me. Sloganizing and conditioning are contrary to the Holy Spirit. I don't like it in advertising, so why should I like it with a church? Pentecost = pouring out of the Holy Spirit. I believe that. But what the super-charismatics try to do is pick this up and then give it another spin. It moves you into bait and switch and equivocation. Starting with something that rings true and then letting you end at something that isn't. Now I don't believe the opposite neither, since the claim that the Holy Spirit now limits itself to the ordinary is wrong as well. He does operate, but our Flesh is resisting this, while it also can present imitations of Spiritual Gifts. The big issue is that we must have crucified the passions of the Flesh with Christ, but very few charismatic Churches will emphasize that... others even less.

The pastor said something totally false and then immediately started babbling. Don't think it was the Holy Spirit waiting for the lie to first leave his mouth.
@@wesfax1 Indeed sometimes one is flabbergasted. They say stuff, when it's wrong one is unsure, if one has understood him correctly. And one doesn't want to be unpolite. A good ministry works on structure, respect for authority and politeness, but so does a bad ministry. They will use humane friendliness, willingness to cooperate as well as respect for authority in their favor, too. And at some stage this will also be abused.
But lets faith it. The Gospel isn't about trusting people, it's about trusting God.

Treating you as though your beneath them, repeating words like your in 2nd grade. I will not do it, talk to me like an adult who is teaching or preaching another adult, leave your gimmicks at home, or save them for idiots.
The fact that he gets the audience to repeat arbitrary words is a clear indicator of indoctrination.
Conditioning... Indoctrination is to big of a word. Indoctrinate folks can at least repeat what they've been indoctrinated into. Most followers of cults can't. Just testify how great their guru is and how blessed they are to have him.

I noticed that as well. One phrase I love is “you can memorize the Bible from cover to cover to still be Biblically illiterate.” Just because these people repeat Scripture doesn’t mean that they understand it.

* "The Bible is the Word of God."
* "THe Bible is our Final Authority."
are rather problematic. They have a ring of piety to them, but can easily lead to the wrong conclusions.
The perception arises that if you want to hear God's word all you need to do is listening to someone reading the bible. It's insufficient. It obviously is. Most sects have a bible to and often quote them.
The issue is that they don't have the Holy Spirit enabling them to interpret correctly. And this includes people that do spend quite some effort to interpret in an honest and sincere way.
Correct would be:
* The Bible testifies about Jesus Christ who is 'the Word of God'.
* The Bible is authoritative on this, if it is a good translation.
* To understand the testimony correctly, you need to have the 'Spirit of Truth'.
* Carnal interpretations will lead to errors.
* God the Father is the final authority.
It's hypnotism that's why he started laughing at Rodney saying they were drunk.
I pray in the spirit, but I never received that gift with "a mighty rushing wind", and I have never behaved in a "drunken manner", and I am always in full control. I know many genuine believers who do not pray in the spirit. Pentecost was a once off event never to be repeated event.

Why must the congregation repeat words !? It works on my nerves when they do that.
The speaker wants people to repeat words because if they get you to repeat what they say it tricks your brain into thinking that you agree with the them.

When one is born again they receive the Holy Spirit. If you have not the Holy Spirit dwelling in you then you are not saved.( ROMANS 8:9.) Tongues is a gift given by the Holy Spirit and not everyone has the same gift.( 1CORINTHIANS 12:4-11.) People should be like the men of Berea and read the scriptures and they would see the false teachings. Do not go by what man says but by what the Word of God says.

When I was a new Christian (or thought I was) everything was about emotion, feelings and experience. Then later I realized what God had done for me and the fact that I need nothing more than my daily bread and the gift of salvation through Jesus Christ. Anything beyond that is a bonus...so to speak.
Years ago at church there was a glory Cloud that came in and you could see the whole auditorium was like foggy, but it was spiritual.Everybody's eye started to glow.People start to feel a joy rise up in them and they all started to cheer and somewhere speaking in tongues. That's the only time I ever seen a glory cloud in the church. there was no rushing wind sound.
@@myepicjourney8275 I used to do leakage testing on large buildings as part of an energy survey. I used a theatrical fog machine pumped into the space to see where that smoke would exit. I had no idea it was actually a "glory cloud"....something not mentioned in scripture anywhere, but rather made up in the minds of gullible people who find the simplicity of the Gospel Message...inadequate.

When I gave my life to Christ at the altar the pastor prayed over me I was screaming and fell to the ground, and all demons came out of me and I felt light and free afterwards. That stuff is not a Joke, just because the bible doesn't explain some things or go in-depth it doesn't mean that supernatural things don't exist. I've seen the pastor do many miracles not only him but even the people at church including myself have done some of these miracles and I'm nobody.
And yes I've been drunk in the spirit and I couldn't stop the joy of laughing that's still a mystery to me even though I've experienced it doesn't mean it's fake. All I can say is don't try and put God in a box. Now the next video I wanna see is When You Receive the Holy Ghost you will be endued with power I wanna see a teaching on this.
Thanks for your response. I go to Pentecostal churches and if I’m honest I find a lot of these slain in the spirit things uncomfortable. I get it if demons are being casted out but what is the benefit for a Christian who does not have demons being slain in the spirit? I think we have to be careful about elevating our personal experiences above what scripture says. The same spirit that inspired those who wrote the Bible should be the one causing these experiences therefore I feel like there should be some cohesiveness

"This is blasphemy." Caleb, I wholeheartedly agree. Modern "fillings" and "tongues" are demonstrably unbiblical, therefore they constitute blasphemy. Sadly, as Brown demonstrated with his "a billion charismatics can't be wrong" line of argument, charismatics almost invariably allow experience to trump sound doctrine (and I used to believe that way, too). Every day, millions of charismatics around the globe, without trembling at the thought of bringing reproach upon the Name of God, are uttering billions of syllables of meaningless gibberish and attributing that work of the flesh to the HOLY Spirit (emphasis on 'Holy'). It truly is astonishing.
They can be wrong. Even all of them. But that doesn't mean that the Gifts of the Spirit have ceded as people will argue in reverse 'logic'. There is billions of Cessationists being wrong as well.
The problem with charismatics is they always lose their gifts of healing when asked to go over to St Jude's and empty out the children's cancer unit. Odd that the Holy Spirit would withdraw His gift just when they need it the most.
A genuine experience would be understandable, but it's so much worse than that. Its contrived, manufactured "experience".
@@TheRealRenn They got copouts in such a case though. "They lack faith" (not they of course, those that don't get the healing). That said I do not have any issue that the Gift of Healing is active also today. Where I do have an issue with is the emphasis on physical 'health and wealth' instead of spiritual regeneration. This is about primacy as opposed to either or type of arguments. Which seems to be the driver behind debates running in circles.

My wife and I hardly speak anymore because she thinks I'm attacking and being judgemental...once again scriptures taken out of context.

Whilst he is a false teacher (in many. many ways), and the "manifestations" that go on in his church are NOT "of God", it is quite true (and sound doctrine) to teach that we can each have our "own Pentecost" today (i.e. receive the baptism of the Spirit and speak in tongues). May we not reject what is Biblical because of these sorts of "characters" (caricatures). ~for His glory and the edification of the Saints
Standing up and screeching in the middle of a new wave music manipulated worship service, then enduring the awkward pause for some dude to get the nerve up to stand and say something like I heard recently in person; "Thus sayeth The Lord, I am opening a portal....."....and of course that "word" was spoken in 16th century Elizabethan English, because that is the language we all use nowadays. Pro Tip: If that screeching and interpretation matches God's Word, then it was unnecessary. If it does not match God's Word, then it was false and those involved should be dismissed, marked and avoided.

They seem to miss the fact that in Acts 2:8 no rambling KJV interpretation of some screeching noise was needed because the people said; "And how do we each hear our own language in which we were born?"
I would strongly suggest googling map on the different languages spoke in the Roman Empire. I totally didn't understand this topic clearly until I did this. In Asia Minor alone there are over 7 languages spoken. The Spirit broke down the walls of not understanding another person from another culture group. Tongues is still active today as I hear in testimony from missionaries on the mission field but this is a mockery by RHB actually.
But in Acts 2:8 it says "And how do we each hear our own language in which we were born?"....this is what God's Word says. I am always leery of anecdotal stories of amazing miracles seen and heard by "missionaries" in the deep dark jungles of Timbuktu

I fully believe that this is why some of the Jews were mocking them, and accusing them of being drunk. Less than 2 months earlier these Jews had witnessed Jesus being crucified. So when the disciples stood up boldly proclaiming him to be their Lord and King, It would have seemed like something a drunk would say.
Many years ago I was a Methodist, and I never liked the part of the service when the preacher would recite some 'doxology' or something, and we were to repeat the words like parrots. It was absolutely meaningless to me.
Rodney doesn't know anything about the Holy Spirit or what he does. The Holy Spirit is Not a Feeling or an Experience. They ask for Fire but they really don't want God's Fire. How is this still a controversy? God can’t be any clearer about what tongues are, yet humans always mess it up. It’s sad because so many in the culture actually think speaking in tongues is speaking in babble. And because of that they are turned off by Christianity because they think the foolishness they see is what Christianity is. True Christianity should look controlled, logically sound, humble and sacrificial. But these weirdos turn Christianity into a freak show.

Me and my roommates went to his church in 2015 when we use to live in Tampa. His church is weird, ppl was laughing out loud and meowing like cats barking like dogs. Falling to the floor and rolling around. This lady name Olivia who’s a staff member at the church… started running 🏃♀️ and fell to the floor. When she looked up everyone was laughing, and the look on her face was like she seen a ghost 👻 I think this guy is doing some kind of voodoo or whichcraft on them🤷♂️ I don’t ever want to experience that again.

4. And they were all filled (diffused throughout their souls) with the Holy Spirit and began to speak in other (different, foreign) languages (tongues), as the Spirit kept giving them clear and loud expression [in each tongue in appropriate words].
5. Now there were then residing in Jerusalem Jews, devout and God-fearing men from every country under heaven.
6. And when this sound was heard, the multitude came together and they were astonished and bewildered, because each one heard them [the apostles] speaking in his own [particular] dialect.

I direct everyone to Matthew 3:11-12. The baptism of the Spirit and the baptism with fire are 2 different things.
Baptism of the Spirit is a blessing - He gathers His wheat into the barn
Baptism with fire is a judgement and a curse - the chaff He will burn with unquenchable fire
When preachers yell fire, they truly don’t have a clue what they are saying.
The house of God (church) is a house of prayer, not an entertainment center. I've been through the jerking, bouncing up and down, rolling on the floor, drunk in the spirit, slain in the spirit, holy laughter, I no longer do these things, I was baptized with the Holy Spirit back in the 90s, these things began to wear down, as God opened my eyes to the need for His word, and His word alone. Experiences, all perceived to be in the spirit, are mostly works of the flesh, very little spiritual. Four things I learned the hard are; 1. God is not the author of confusion. 2. All things are to be done decently and in order. 3. The spirit of a believer is subject to the believer. 4. A trait of believers is temperance (self control). This "I can't control it" is a cop out.

Many many years ago I belonged to a church that was charismatic, however, they were self-described as conservative charismatic. It was fairly balanced and not weird initially. Eventually, the pastor's attended a Rodney Howard Browne concert. They supposedly came back with "the anointing" and from then on it was all downhill.
Why do we make God's Word so complex. Just accept in simplification.

I heard in a church that a preacher claimed she was drunk in the spirit. What was getting drunk in the spirit mean ? Many wondered. No one saw any gift manifested after the claim. One of the penticoastal ways of trying to convince others to see them in awesomeness because they were used by God? Well, Idk.

Thank you for your message and although you speak truth in your messages and I enjoy listening to what you have to say. However I would like to say 2 things
1. Corinthians 13 say whether I speak in the tongues of men or of angels. So it doesn’t necessarily need to be a human language.
2. I myself have experienced the wind of God blow through me and purge out all the horribleness in my heart and it happened 3 times one after another. I wasn’t in a church in fact I was in my bedroom with the window and door closed and it had a solid concrete floor.

It takes a lot of maturity to reach the stage that you won't accept bullying in the Church. In what should be a place where you can be totally honest everyone seems to spin up their own opinions and if you disagree you are outed. Strange how none of them ever have any sin in their lives despite John 1.8. I've experienced the Holy Spirit and I have never ever come across a situation where speaking in tongues is in a foreign language . That to me is logical ..it was a moment in Acts (twice at least , Acts 10.46 at Cornelius house) . The Gospel had to reach the world from a small group without email. Still Gods ways are his to know , he was showing his power, fulfilling his word from Joel as he said and that he will do whatever it takes to work his purposes out. Retain your first love, stay open ..ask for the holy spirit in increased measure ..don't be bullied into pretending that something is happening or is right when it isn't . The more the light, the greater the accountability..look at Ananaias in acts 4 ..be content.

The way he has them repeating certain words; he's checking if they are willing to take whatever he says to them. Very sneaky & manipulative
..at 07:36 Rodney calls the power down by saying fire and the guy goes out on his back... but the disciples never called power down or used the word 'fire' to do such things..
even in Acts 4 they pray to God for boldness and power for healing to go witnessing and God does come with power for that purpose but they dont play God themselves by calling the power down...
and we have the Holy Spirit in us... I think the gifts are just gifts and are not linked to salvation actually.... thats why Jesus says if you ask for the Holy Spirit I will not give you a stone... it does not seem to be talking about the HS for salvation in this passage...
And Paul said rhetorically (Corinthians 13), do all speak in tongues - clearly not..

Joel did not speak of drunkenness with the outpouring of the Holy Spirit. We do find subsequent outpouring of the Holy Spirit in Acts 10 where Peter recognised that the Holy Spirit had been poured out upon these people because they spoke in tongues as had happened to Peter earlier. Here tongues was clearly evidence of the Holy Spirit but to be like what happened with Peter it must have been human language that was known and understood by the at least some of the hearers. The problem with today's tongues is that at least 99% are not understood by any natural speakers of what is spoken. I believe in the Holy Spirit being poured out but the tongues we see is not the real thing, as it is not verifiable. The fruit of the Holy Spirit however must surely be present where and upon whom He is poured out. The Holy Spirit is interested in transforming lives not putting on a show. I believe that tongues is still a spiritual gift for today, but I personally have not seen the real thing. It is certainly not beyond God to enable a person to speak miraculously in a language that is not learned, but it would be verified by an understanding hearer. I do not see tongues as something to be eagerly sought after, but rather seek the transforming power of God as His Spirit and His word work in conjunction to transform. This is my position at this time, I am no expert but am learning all the time. Thanks Caleb for another good video, I pray that more people's eyes will be opened.

I think Rodney has some issues but you need to take it easy, the Glory of God on your body can give the appearance of drunkenness, and remember when thevasked for Jesus before his crucifixion, he said I AM and they FELL BACKWARDS. The Bible answers his question. A time will come when those things done in part will be done away and it is when that which has been done in part has accomplished the task of bringing about the completion of its goal. Jesus became the author... and the finisher of our faith. The tongues, the prophecy, and the apostolic witness have served the purpose of introducing the faith. It was once for all delivered unto the saints. The Bible says and now abideth faith, hope and charity... in practical terms what remains of those things done in part is the preaching of the faith. I'm not the one to say never. What I am saying is the scriptures do say 'that time WILL come when these things cease'. The will of man' ANY MAN' did not bring those things about... nor could it make those things happen if the time came for them to cease. The Holy Spirit knows and the Holy Spirit is not one to be commanded. If a person does not speak in tongues... who are you to condemn them? The gift is NOT given by you. Any person's power in Christ is to preach the word of Truth.

Rodney Howard Browne is not the best example of a pentecostal. I'm a Charismatic and I did not like what he was doing. The "laughing revival" was no revival at all. It was weird. It was more of a "laughingstock". That's what it did to the church of God. Christians became a laughingstock and that was damaging to the Gospel. They thought we'd all gone mad. I think the laughing revival was one huge deception.
But I also think that going to the opposite extreme and saying that the gifts have passed away is incorrect. I've studied all the John Mc Arthur stuff and more and cessationism has no biblical grounding. It's all based on circumstantial evidence.
Paul spoke a lot about tongues, the gifts and prophecy. John Mc Arthur just writes it all off as "an early epistle". With no evidence whatsoever.
I have experienced genuine moves of the Holy Spirit where they kept to the instructions of Corinthians and didn't go crazy and roll around on the floor. I am against the prosperity movement and all that trash which was mostly a bunch of charlatans milking the flock for their own ends.
I think one of the most powerful passages starts with the words "in the last days..." going on to speak about the gifts of the spirit. Are we in the last days or not?

RHB has his own issues and anyone who has followed him for any length of time knows it. Like many mainstream televangelists/Glory seekers, they all tend to "Build an Alter" over many experiences that may have been only for a single individual to experience. I was saved in the 90's, but was genuinely filled/baptized with the Holy Spirit on October 24th, 1999. I do have the evidence of speaking in tongues and give God all the glory for it. This experience changed my life and is still changing my life. Nope, I did not hear a sound like a mighty rushing wind, nope, I did not see tongues as of fire on anyone. However, the power I suddenly received was not to "Heal" people, it was to witness for Christ. I most certainly had this because my workplace had to sit me down and talk with me about all the witnessing I had been doing during work, sorry, I was immature in my faith, but truly on Fire for Jesus! So, I agree Caleb, there is no "Identical" experience to what happened in Acts chapter 2. However, the Lord still baptizing with the Holy Spirit. In fact, Jesus never baptized anyone in the water, his disciples did. Jesus only baptizes with the Holy Ghost of fire. If anyone hasn't experienced this, I highly recommend asking God for more insight, seeking God about it, desiring all that God has for you, and "Asking, Seeking and Knocking" to discover your own experience with the Baptism in the Holy Spirit. It is a gift, so, anyone who has received the baptism in the Holy Spirit cannot be jugemental of those who haven't. Lastly, I experienced "Holy Laughter" once without a single bit of information about it, I had never heard of anything like it. It was one of the most personal, powerful, internal cleansing I had ever expereinced. One of my good friends just happend to catch a few clips of this expereince on video. I'm 100% in calling out false doctrine and false preachers, but I would add a word of caution when attempting to attribute the moving of the Holy Spirit with the works of the devil. There is no forgiveness for Blasphemy against the Holy Spirit in this world or the one to come. Remember, wind blows wherever it desires and it affects people differently. ALL the expereinces of the Holy Spirit in the life of believers isn't written in the bible, only some.
