Welcome to the club. I sold my Denon Prime 2 last year and went back to Serato. The music prepping for the Denon Prime was time consuming and songs didn't always transfer.
What controller did you get?
You buy one piece of dj equipment and it always leads to having to buy 10 other things lol

I have a Prime 2 and Prime Go, but I use both with Virtual DJ. Stems and the workflow of VDJ especially with songs from streaming services makes it hard for me to use Engine outside of the house. I’ll probably hold on to the Go, but I think I’ll be looking for a replacement for the 2 within the next couple of years. Been eyeing the Rev 7.
I messed around with VDJ and my Prime 2. Not bad, but I did not like VDJ. It felt like Windows to me
Dude i had to pause after the bananas and adult diapers LOL... hilarious! Ok, so those Rev5 jog wheels are just too small. IDK, I bought 2 LC6000s and man these things are sweet. Compatible with Serato too. Go Denon! Boo-Yah!!

I use a SC5000 and stems are on the screen with virtual dj. I also sometimes don't bother looking at the laptop because all the info is available on the screen. Sometimes the laptop is set near my feet. But I guess a controller is good for ...well not much in the tech world
FYI, I use the Prime 2 and other controllers and I have the ability to fully do STEMs with VDJ. I use a Korg Nanopad 2 with mapped buttons in VDJ. It takes up one USB port but I don't have to spend the $1200 to get dedicated buttons. However, the BPM transition button really has my attn at the moment.
I messed around with VDJ and my Prime 2. It did work great with stems
Denon replaced the Prime 2 with the SC Live 4. I bought one the first day it came out and have LOVED it ever since. I don't even see a reason to get the Prime 4+ and using Serato gives me STEMS functions on the performance pads. Why not go with this over the REV5??
I think because I don’t want a 4 channel controller. It’s kinda crazy too that they don’t let Serato on the Prime 2
What you think about build quality on REV 5? On paper it looks like great controller for mobile DJ use, but I dont have chance to mess with it in shop.
P.s. Do you know where are dedicated beatjump controls?
Not sure they made this for mobile DJs, I'm into it for the mixing and stem buttons. It is plastic, which I get..I won't really know till I really get my hands on it. I liked the look of it at DJX though!

I almost did. I want a controller with stem buttons on it, and I don't need moving platters. So...I'm impatiently waiting lol
I just grabbed a new MBP M1 Pro. 16. Looking forward to figuring out which controller, I’m going to run next year. I am leaning towards the Prime plus or the Rane 4. However, I do prefer 2 channel controllers. So, I have some renting and searching to do.

I sold my prime 4 for a FLX10. I was disappointed and shocked with the build quality. It was very plastic and toy feeling. I loved the size of the platters but that was it. I rarely use stems but I loved having everything at my finger tips with my laptop running the show. I am selling my FLX10 and bought the Prime 4+. I will try to not need my laptop but will use it as a Serato Controller if I have to. Love your videos always fun and informative

@@AaronStrawn it is a total step back and forward!!! I did my first wedding last night with Prime 4+ after using Serato/FLX10 and it was a little painful searching for music. Just have to choose your poison. Next purchase Maui 44!
Hi got mine last week and love it. Had ddj 800 before and it was a good controller but the rev 5 is so much more fun to use. Don’t think anybody mentioned this but as for build quality it’s ok and the plate over the pads and fader section is metal 👍👍

It’s a great piece of kit you will love it. It feelers like it’s more for us Dj that have to play all sorts of music, it’s less cluttered than the club style stuff an more fun to use for us multi format djays . I switched from rekordbox to Serato and rekordbox is solid never let me down. The jogs take a couple of mins to get used to but then they are ace. Effects paddles 👍👍👌👍Auto bpm transition is genius 🙏. When you eventually get one you will enjoy it 😂😂😂😂😂😂 want me send you some pics of mine just to rub it in 😂😂😂. Love the vids and you top man 👍👍👍
laptop all the way, purely for what you say, being able to plug in tracks on the fly. couple of months ago, i had a gig, before it was a dance act. They told me, they would do there own stuff, i needed not worry about them. I come up to the gig, i plug my gear in. I get an usb stick: here are our songs, play them in that order...So far for the not worrying bout them and they fixing there own stuff. It was a good thing i had my ddj-1000 and mac with me, cause that saved me. 2 days before they called me that the cdj's weren't going to be there. So i brought my own stuff, blessing in disguise!
Over the last 3 years there have def been a handful of situations where I wished I could do this
I completely agree with the way of loading tracks. Lately I’ve had several requests for songs I couldn’t find in my library or on tidal. Only option was amazon download, transfer to thumb load in prime 4 etc. prime 4+ offers almost nothing. Hard to keep chugging with engine after stems.
That is a total pain in the ass when that happens.
You know that you can directly access engine running on your laptop as a source over wireless, so your entire library on your laptop can be directly accessed. Although I streamlined even more and went iPad lol
I believe you need Wi-Fi for this right?
@@AaronStrawn you do. Or a network cable. You can get a small mini WiFi router you keep in your max booth.
Network cable from Macbook to the Prime 2. boom. Full access to the latest library. Had same thoughts, but this feature Kept me working with Denon.
Macbook was/is always at my booth (backup media player, background music via djay pro, notes,etc) so no real changes, except the cable 😉
Yeah totally pioneer , I bought the prime go , when first released and it spent more time in repair at Denon than I actually owned and used it , this was my first choice and was new to owning this unit, so glad got money back and purchased a rx2 , no issues whatsoever and like using a rolls Royce compared to the prime go 😊
I don't agree, You can connect to your laptop wirelessly to your Prime gear and get any song from your laptop, I do it all the time When I do not have what I need in my Prime 4 and Prime Go that is really impossible with all the USB slots that they have, I have made multiple flash drive with a huge library of music with different styles and genre, and I can do this with our having a laptop blocking my view from the dance floor. Actually, my team is in charge of the laptop and generates a request playlist while I DJ so don't get bothered in the middle of a mix, It just shows up on my request playlist when I switch to it from my screen, all they say, you have a request, also this way we keep drunks away the equipment and prevent people from getting hurt when we are on a stage and people don't fall down. and keep my helpers busy not just standing there doing nothing.
I know about this feature, a lot of venues I play don’t have Wi-Fi, but you’re right. This is a way to work around syncing up sd cards

Rane 4 is big advice, believe me.
@@AaronStrawn not if you get balls deep in stems, the split feature allows a ton of creativity with those extra faders for effects and level adjustments.

You won't be disappointed, rekordbox is not that much different from serato. I Love Denon , but there is a reason why Pioneer is the leading brand when it comes to clubs, events and dj's.

Interesting. I’ve only played with it a couple times but worked pretty well especially just keeping drums and bass for a quick mix out. I don’t acapella mix much so not too worried about vocals sounding great.
