Thanks for your videos Jesse. Just built my first storage shed which I attached to the existing shed. Great instruction, easy to follow. Your videos are by far the best.
I used to be a strong young woman who built many things in her day. Now I'm old and out of shape, but your videos have inspired me to get back in shape and build my own shed soon. Thank you Jesse!! Your videos are straight forward (no music, TY) and upbeat. Keep up the good work!
Hey, I just watched your most recent shed build and learned a great tip from it. Now, watching this older video, you taught an even more valuable trick; creating pocket holes with just your drill. THUMBS 👍 👍 UP!! And Thanks.
Thank you Jesse, I'm on my second wall. I've could've finish today but the wife had other plans.. But with your help and humor, I feel great about my Tool Shed, hopefully I'll finish by the end of the week. Again thank you.
I could really use a shed like that in my backyard but with lumber prices being a bit high right now I think I'll wait and see if the prices drop some ! You did a good job with this build and I will watch all of your videos on this anyways so thanks for posting !
Found this post at the perfect time. Just got a cordless skill saw AND the door to our existing/inherited shed is starting to fall off. Thanks for posting!
Thank you very much for making these videos. I will start making my own shed this coming Fall. I need it to store my HVAC equipment, chemicals and supplies!
Thank you for making such a wonderful video, showing step by step this storage shed. It is really perfect and easy to follow up. I appreciate your time to create an accurate demonstration.
Man bro u sir gave me hope, with your help man, who I mentioned at the office, I wish I could thank you man. You should me exactly all I needed. So god bless and may god continue to bless you.

Thanks man! So many people have said the same, I just wish more people would see it sooner instead. Thumbs up help big time if you would. But I'm glad I could ya, good luck on yours! 👊
I have been rinsing SO many shed build videos but this series has been the most approachable, you mention so many handy details and I can't wait to get started. Thanks so much!
Jessie, you are an awesome instructor. I have built two sheds previously, and at age 79 I'm going to build another one. I have learned a lot from your videos and just wanted to say thanks. Keep them coming! God bless you.
Thanks for explaining everything so simply. I’ve never built anything but I can do this. I may need some assistance with lifting walls but I believe I can handle the rest.
No problem, I'm glad you found it helpful! For sure you can, just take your time and before you know it, a structure starts coming together. Good luck on yours!
Jesse, great video and you have a knack for teaching. I'm more certain of what I'm doing after watching your videos. I'm going 8 x 12 with a 7 foot back wall and 8 foot in front.
Thanks! I've actually been an instructor in my life a couple times for different things and I've always liked it. That'll be awesome, good luck on your shed!
Bout to finish my 10x12 shed. Thanks for your video guidance.Gave me the confidence to tackle.Would have been nice if my ground was level but it worked nonetheless.thanks!
Thanks, I'm glad you like them. That's why I built it the way I did, I didn't use any fancy tools, just a drill and saw so anybody can do it. Whatever saw you have that can cut wood is fine. I'd suggest getting even an inexpensive impact driver tho, it's much faster and takes all the rotational strain from the screw going in off your wrist and arm. After that many screws, your arm will thank you lol. Good luck on yours!
@JessedoesDIY amazing work sir again thank you and I'll be investing in a decent driver as you suggest.. I've already had carpal tunnel surgery after many years of DIY..don't want to make that any worse 🤣
Thanks so much. Well, that was the plan! It's going to be better, stronger and probably about the same amount of money as buying and you'll end up with something better. Not to mention, it's really satisfying to build it yourself! Good luck on yours!
Thank you. I am overwhelmed by shed builds from others. I believe i could do this. I do not know how to build anything; I am a gardener. I have been looking for your style and teaching for years.
Good Job... I'm building a chicken coop, but my standards are higher so I'm mostly building it much like your shed. I can use the help on the door. Thanks.
Really like your presentation style. Will check out your other videos both to learn and for entertainment. Your first shed building video, you talked about deep permafrost. Reminds me of years ago in Anchorage. Later in Wyoming we looked the other way for temporary freeze depth in Wyoming. Great refresher 30 years later.
Thanks. I appreciate it. Wow Anchorage, they are quite a bit farther north than me, but we actually get similar temperatures during winter the way arctic air flows. It's crazy here how far down it goes.
What people FAIL to realize is, Building a Shed Cost ABOUT Half Or Less than Buying One... EXAMPLE ONLY! Buy a 8x10 Shed for $5,000 and by the time you pay it off, you spent About $10,000.. Or Do like He did here and What I did, I BUILT a 10x10 For Under $1,000.
Thanks. That's coming, unfortunately not insulating but thats as simple as just buying Roxul insulation for 16" on center studs, and sliding it in between the studs and roof if you want
Nice job and hard work knocking it out even with losing day light. Clever channel name! Keep up the great work as the goal is for us to continue to inspire others to build something awesome! 👍🏼
Thank you Bro for the excellent video!!! Exactly what I was looking for....how to frame a front shed wall with a door right smack in the middle. Just subscribed to your channel.
That's the best part about building it yourself, you can do whatever! No doubt...where are you located? I don't have to worry about that here, I have the opposite in massive blizzards lol
Really enjoyed your great tips,I am planning a shed build soon, love the simplicity & efficient building method which shows your experience!great narration as well! Look forward to more vids!
Hi, You are the only person here on this platform (youtube) who show such a straightforward way of making a shed. I watched 1000s of videos but all the videos I watched make the whole process too boring and they are dragging with their explanation. I am also very impressed with your circular saw cutting skill, you never used anything to help you to make a straight cut. You got one more subscriber and please keep it up with your other projects
Hey! I'm glad you liked it and happy I could help! I also enjoyed showing people that you could build the whole thing with a drill and circular saw basically. Welcome to the crew, glad to have you aboard!
In the process of moving... I'm definitely going to try making my own shed... From wut I seen on part 1 I may probably add a lil extra foundation work bt maaaann this is super cool... Keep up the great work💯 Just SUBSCRIBED👍
Hi Jesse. Thank you so much for getting back to me in such a timely fashion. I am going to take your advice and go with the same roof as you did, after all it does make sense. One small question which I may already have the answer for but would like to hear from you. I see that the back and side walls are shorter than the front wall and I understand that this is for the pitch of the roof. so the question is, what size are the heights of the back, sides and front walls. I'm guessing 7' back and sides, 8' front. Please correct me. Thank you so much. Paul.
No problem. The rear and side walls are about 6.5' to the top of the top plate and the front wall is just under 8' by a couple inches. That way I had plenty of room inside and wouldn't have to worry about hitting my head on anything, and for the front walls I wouldn't have to cut a sheet, I could just use a full 8' long sheet once it overlapped the floor framing. All the supplies, measurments, materials and lengths are all in the plans if you want more info. I tried my best to make them very thorough. Hope that helps!
Wasn't really to prevent sagging, was more to sturdy up the OSB in the middle of the door so it had material behind it. Because the frame of the door is attached to the OSB that keeps it square, it really shouldn't sag unless the hinges start moving
As I will be building a shed in near future, I was glad to discover this series - it’s straight forward and easy to follow… I can do this! One question, though, about your hurricane ties - do you put them on the same side of each end of the ceiling joist, or stagger them on opposite sides of the same joist?
That's awesome! That was my hope was to make it simple and easy to follow. You can absolutely do it! The ties will go on the same side of the joist. Good luck on yours and keep me posted! Love to see it when its done
It wasn't a brace, doesn't need it because the odb sheet prevents it from sagging. It was just something to give me material to screw the osb to so it had some structure instead of being soft in the middle of the door. Glad you liked it tho
Store bought from home depot. They are specifically called saw horse brackets and made for 2x4. I love em because they can literally be made to whatever size you want depending on how big you cut your 2x4. Thanks for watching!
Thanks! I had to take the parts list down, was having issues with people not being able to view it. I do have plans now since the videos were made if you need. I'm glad I could help either way!
Thanks, but I wouldn't do a 5' shed, do either 4' or 6'. All building materials are designed to work on even increments, not odd. All the wall dimensions are in the videos as I went. I made the side and back walls to a final height of 78" and the front wall was so a 8' sheet would reach to the bottom of the floor framing
Todo está perfecto amigo solo una observación el barrote de la puerta atravesado se pone del lado de las bisagras asia arriva para q no se cuelgue la puerta
Hi, great video's, taking plenty of knowledge from your build. I am looking at building roughly 8 feet wide with 6 feet depth shed in the coming weeks. I am planning to build a second floor, play space (tree house) for the children. I will use the 2 by 6's and follow as you did. would it be structually safe to basically build a shed on top on a shed? Do you have tips to fix the skids into the ground for peace of mind too? Thanks!!
Good to hear you're picking up tips! It's strong enough for sure that isn't a problem, just might be tipsy, yeah. Once the floor frame is built but not sheeted, you may want to mark holes to dig inside each corner. Dig down, probably with a machine you can rent, and drop 4x4 piles into the holes a few feet down and concrete them in. Then fasten the 4x4 skids to the piles sticking out of the ground with structural fasteners and cut the piles down to length, then sheet the floor. Good luck on your project
Hi Jesse. Thank you so much for this video. I am actually getting ready to build a 8x10 shed in my backyard and I am definitely using your video as a guide. The only difference in the shed that I am building is the roof which will be a pitched roof. Do you have any suggestions for me .
No problem, I'm glad you found them useful! That's honestly a whole different subject that I'd need a video to explain, not text. That's the reason I went with a classic shed roof is because it's much much simpler for the average homeowner...and personally I feel it lends to more space inside
This is probably the most helpful video series on building a shed. We have made great progress on our build, but there is one hick-up. It wasn't until I had the front wall up that I noticed that someone (maybe me, maybe my wife) didn't line up the king stud properly. It was about 1/8 to 3/16 of an inch toward the wall making the opening slightly larger that it should be on the bottom. My thought on dealing with that is cut out the bottom plate where the king stud edge was supposed to be, then using a bunch of shims I can line up the rest of the jack stud to the correct width so the door will fit. Do you have any thoughts? We have rain coming for the next several days, so I won't be getting back to this until 3 days from now, so I won't be proceeding until the rain is passed.
Thanks! I'm glad I could help and that you found it useful. Super pumped you're giving it a go! Yeah, that'll work. Like I said, nice thing about a shed is there you have some liberties and slack since it isn't a dwelling. It makes it great practice to learn on. You can shim it over, or completely cut them out with a recip saw along the plates and move them over, then cut the bottom plate after. Whatever is easiest! Good luck on the rest of it and keep me posted, I'd love to see it when you're done!
Pretty much yup. You could frame a side wall normally and just pick a spot to add your jack and king studs, leave the wall studs out of that location. Only thing I'd do is leave it probably 6-8 inches from the corner just to make things easier like trim and framing
We know that this video is from about a year ago, but we are loving these videos! Keep them coming please. 1. We live in a rough, yet lazy neighborhood. Is there a way to make our door less vulnerable to burglary? We were thinking that not even a padlock (like you have), will do it because they’ll just rip the door off at the hinges instead! So any suggestions would be gladly appreciated. Maybe something too time-consuming and cumbersome to bother with? 2, We also have some heavy, horizontal winds over here. When you have that combined with a rain downpour or snow, it can get really bad. Would the strips of 1.5” weather treated OSB doorstops be enough to keep the outside “hurricane” at bay? If not, any suggestions? We would hate to have a “three-little-pigs” moment. Thank you for your help. We appreciate you!
I'm sorry I never saw this. When you go to mount the door use bolts on the hinges through the frame with a locking nut and washer inside the shed. That will make it so you can't remove the door without access inside. There are also much beefier lock options at the home centers to buy. As for the doorstop, we get some insane weather here too and I haven't had a problem. I mentioned it in the shed update video what all it's been through in the past year. I've had a couple small skiffs of snow made it inside, not much at all, after 126 km wind blizzard. So it works really well. Hope that helps! Keep me posted!
3:00 am and here I am, about to move on to part 4. You really v make this look so easy. Nice! (Feeling very inspired!)

All the supplies, measurments, materials and lengths are all in the plans if you want more info. I tried my best to make them very thorough. Hope that helps!
Every video is amazing by the way!!!
Thanks, I really appreciate it!
I believe the cross brace in the door should angle the other way to prevent sagging.
Wasn't really to prevent sagging, was more to sturdy up the OSB in the middle of the door so it had material behind it. Because the frame of the door is attached to the OSB that keeps it square, it really shouldn't sag unless the hinges start moving
Amazing video thank you very much
Glad you liked it!
What size of hinges? Also how far apart should they be if I’m using four hinges?
These were 4". I explained in the video how to determine your hinge spacing no matter what size they are.
I probably would have put the door brace on the other diagonal but otherwise really cool 😎.
It wasn't a brace, doesn't need it because the odb sheet prevents it from sagging. It was just something to give me material to screw the osb to so it had some structure instead of being soft in the middle of the door. Glad you liked it tho
@@JessedoesDIY Yeah, I realize the sheathing takes that cantilever load but I'm trained to respond to upside-down triangles. 📐
Lol true that
Really awesome!!! Thanks a lot for sharing!
Thanks! I appreciate it
I'm ready to build mine
That's awesome! Good luck, keep me posted
what hinges are on those sawhorses? is it store bought or custom bilt. Great video and very simple technique. Thanks!
Store bought from home depot. They are specifically called saw horse brackets and made for 2x4. I love em because they can literally be made to whatever size you want depending on how big you cut your 2x4. Thanks for watching!
@@JessedoesDIY Thanks! got them off amazon
Awesome
Hi Jesse love you video's but could not located the part's list in order to build this shed? Guess I keep watching the video thank you
Thanks! I had to take the parts list down, was having issues with people not being able to view it. I do have plans now since the videos were made if you need. I'm glad I could help either way!
Great job bro...
Thanks man
Hi love your video I am planning to build a 5by 10 shed what size are your side walls and the front one pls thx so much
Thanks, but I wouldn't do a 5' shed, do either 4' or 6'.
Great job Jesse, I so needed this after seeing my beloved Leafs lose game 1 tonight!
Thanks! Yeah, I was watching... oh well, it's only the first
Jesse great video but did you ever put a material list together ?
Thanks. Yup, it's in the description. I'm also finally making plans for it too that'll be available next week hopefully
Coolest ever is right
This is probably the most helpful video series on building a shed.
If I wanted to add a second door on the side wall, do I use the same principals here? Anything I need to be aware of that could be different?
Pretty much yup. You could frame a side wall normally and just pick a spot to add your jack and king studs, leave the wall studs out of that location. Only thing I'd do is leave it probably 6-8 inches from the corner just to make things easier like trim and framing
Exelent nice work 👍🙏thanks
Thanks!
Great job
Appreciate it
I used to build sheds for a living it's a long story why I quit doing it
Awesome video
Thank you!
