#diorama #modelrailroad #oogaugelayout #trains #detailing Adding some detail onto the Walthers kit building, filling in the mortar lines on the brickwork.
Now that is pretty amazing Digger, I never would’ve thought that adding thinner to the surface would have that effect! Honestly that finished side you showed at the end looks pretty damn good, it looks weathered too, sometimes you’ll see that streaking on brick from when the mortar starts breaking down over time. Great video Digger, have a great evening 👍🏼😎🇺🇸🇬🇧
Great video, Digger. That's a great way to add mortar lines, I'll be showing this to my grandson, and we'll give it a try at the next time we do a plastic kit... Cheers James 🙂👍
That's a great technique Digger, I like that approach. I will try it on one of my buildings. Thanks for sharing, I must've missed the other time you done it. All the best. Brian
I like this way too. My only concern was putting the thinners on the building if you already have paint on it. Maybe a dull coat covering first before mortar lines. Just another way to same result. Thanks for sharing buddy.
Hiya Rick yeah it had a coat of dull cote right after painting the bricks, lots of work to do yet, you can use water or acrylic thinners to act as a capillary conductor either one will do
Hello Digger, very nice work!👌🏻🤩 I basically used the same method many years for my IHC building (you can see it a bit in my video from 5 years ago with the lit up NYPD/NYCP models, unfortunately my only building of this type to date); except that I didn't get the walls quite as wet so that the mortar color wouldn't spread as much over the bricks themselves...😇😉 Cheers my friend - Ralf🍀👋🏻
Hey Der Digger! I appreciate the video bud, this is one thing that I have struggled with. I have a laser scribbled brick wood kit from Late Night Model Railroad, I will have to see if this technique will work on it. Cheers Bud!
Very good digger. Another good way of doing mortar. Have you tried filler with a bit of yellow ochre mixed. As you say lots of different ways of doing it but I'll be having a go with this technique cheers buddy Andy
Very nice method Digger. I will be using a number of Metcalfe buildings and walls. I was thinking about scoring the brickwork to make them stand out. Would this method work on scored card?

Thanks Ralf yes i'm not too concerned about the overspill for this build it's going to be a run down building in need of some maintenence

Hiya Andy I've seen the filler method used once but not with colour added. I've not tried it myself but it is on my list of methods to try.
nice way of doing it digger
Thanks Dwight
Neat! 👍
Thanks
I like this very much, wow 🤩
Many thanks my friend
That looks great Digger, but what if you wanted it to look new , would you wipe away sooner ?
Hi Jerry if i was after making it look new i'd be a lot more prcise and careful with the paint and the fluid and yeah clean up as i go
I’m sure you had done one 👍 I’m getting old 😂
Ha ha easily done
Very nice method Digger. I will be using a number of Metcalfe buildings and walls. I was thinking about scoring the brickwork to make them stand out. Would this method work on scored card?
Hiya Simon I'm not too sure I think the cardboard would absorb the fluid and swell up probably
that is the easiest way to do them, I think.
I agree it's a very easy method Sparky
great technique Digger. did you use water first before the paint ?
Thanks John water or thinners is ideal to help the capillary action work
thanks Digger@@DiggerEvans
I gather in the next episode, you start to add the gang graffiti, right?
Thaty will occur at sometime yea gotta add some tags
Hello Digger
Hello Stewart mate hope you're well
