I,m one of the most luckies person on earth to have been in his concert twice One in Benin and other one lagos,i was 14 to15 when i start listen to his song so i was nick name fela in school then
Fela and his band are TOP musicians, THE BEST. EVER. Fela also is the greatest Warrior Prophet Musician that ever toured in this world. His peotry and narration style are unmatched. His daring and his sensitivity also. LOVE FELA , FREE THE PEOPLE! NOW!
Is such a pity that we AFRICA loose the gifted and talented man like Fela, May your soul continuing resting in peace, I believe your music messages will live forever
Fella was ahead of his time, and more educated than the military men who catapulted themselves to the national and international stage, with a bloodbath coup. Today, his voice is louder and clearer than his days of torture at the hands of the military. You can kill a man to destroy him. But you can never kill or destroy his ideas. Fela is a tangible example of this philosophical adage. Flea children deserves an apology from OBJ, and all the military leaders after him
33 years ago, he said Nigeria was all about the friend-know-friend government. Here we are in 2018 and it is the same story! What a man Fela is, or should i say a prophet! 15 billions missing then not missing, very typical Nigeria!
@@QuiltyVal I'm a Nigerian but currently live in Russia (Moscow). Russia is far better, at least people enjoy social amenities with good standard of living at affordable level. In Nigeria things are very horrible, only the elites can afford what the masses can afford in Russia.
I am a big fan of Fela on the tenor Saxophone, trumpet, and sometimes on the piano but never his fan on the soprano sax 🤣🤣🤣🤣. He was one of the greatest things to have come out of Africa. Wish that Jazz artists could do a tribute album for him just as they did for Bob Marley, Grover Washington, Ray Charles etc. What a delight that'd be. The Bassline (m.m.d.r: m.d.l:) was one of my favorites as a bassist back then
Je suis un blanc, français. Je l'ai vu en 1978 à Angers. J'étais coltranien. Je le suis resté. Avec lui, car j'ai entendu qu'il étais son héritier... Comment ne pas pense à Africa Brass ?
Let's take a couple of minutes and really think about the level of genius artistic expression it takes for Fela as a composer to be able to use special forms of musical notations to create multiple sets of instructions which each member of his band then applies their individual instruments in other to perform this wonderful piece of musical arrangements, rhythms, pitch, tone, tempo, harmony, and melody that supports the chords. Wow!
I’ve alway's wonder if military history and the after affect of those who participated in physical war are taught? Like the long ranges affect on those who never claims PTSD; nor share their experiences? Especially those forgotten, or ignored? Those who fought on two-fronts, the VFWs (with arms) and those on the home-front (the survivors) without arms?
Army arrangement in 1979 has begotten a twin in 2023, APC ,Thiefnubu and rogueuersor Mahmoud Yakubu and STEALNEC have given us the most shitty chappy election ever. Big shame on them all. Croone on Baba Fela from your grave. The best and greatest African musician ever! The best bun ch of poetic instrumentalists and music philosophers ever come from the shores of Africa !!!.
i think it's just poorly phrased, they're saying the production is bad, not the content. i can't hear the backing vocals well enough, the brass section is a little sloppy compared to other albums, etc.
Is there a definitive version of “Cross Examination” that Fela approved of, rather than the Bill Laswell remix that was on the first edition of the album? Peace.
Decades after his death, Fela lives on.

Fela was an excellent composer and arranger. His dexterity with the piano and sax were superlatively excellent. We miss you and love you. Rest well.
Yeah
I used to listen to this as a teen and my classmates would ask wtf are you listening to ,I’d give them the earphones and they would say yeah yeah

VIVA AFRICA!!!
-- Fela Kuti(From "Viva Nigeria")
Fela was like a prophet; sensed all these mess Nigeria is in now. Only God go save am from this "bad condition", according to Fela Anikolakpo Kuti.
Obasanjo is wayo military crook... 16$ Billions electrification funds crawled away under the Atlantic ocean.... Wayo thief. Arranging master.
What a perfect music !!!
The Legend of All times
I saw Fela perform in Los Angeles, 1986.
You are one of the few lucky ones to have seen him perform live, some of us were not so lucky. RIP Fela.

Me siento tan orgulloso de haber conocido a este gran musico, gracias a canal 22 por hacerme no ignorar la grandeza de Fela kuti

I don't think he was keen on even the piano too. He was all about the wind instruments.
Yep : good job as usual, black President Fela... Continue to rest in perfect peace! 🥺🥺🥺🥺🥺
Bill Laswell's version was not Fela's vision. That's all...
baba fela o. me & you no dey the same category. RIP

Wait first, how did Fela see so much? How did he see so much of the future?
Nah, he didnt see the future. Our problems have just remained thesame.
Fela was not singing about the future. He was singing about what was happening at the time.

For all the references about this being a bad album, it sounds fine to me. Around the 15 album mark now, listening, not one dissappointment!
Amazing album.

Bernard Chomba RIP Love you Brother. 😭
Yr videos are sooo perfect 🥰 💞 👌 😍 ❤️ ✨️
Real AfroBeat.
Some organ chords, man. Not sure if they are deliberately dissonant. Powerful though....
Yes, uncle Fela Ransome kuti is an African saxophone legend in Sub-Saharan in 1970s!
I beg your pardon,,, This is FOREVER the best. The special gift to the world by God Almighty.
No one living now or then ever close to equal to Fela, period!
No, his name is Fela Anikulapo Kuti. No more to slave name "Ransom"
Cuando leí en el periódico como fue su entierro, lloré , a la altura de su música

I don't know why the Bill Laswell album is considered 'bad'- personally, i think it's a great album, especially the title track :)
Why doesn't he stop sucking off Fela's music and get lost?
i think it's just poorly phrased, they're saying the production is bad, not the content. i can't hear the backing vocals well enough, the brass section is a little sloppy compared to other albums, etc.
In case there's any confusion, this version (in this video) is not the Laswell version--the is the Fela version.
Na soul enjoymentooo
