I really like these Cirrus campers. They have almost everything the van has, and some things the van didn't have, at a much lower cost of entry. It's true that the electrical system needs a serious upgrade, but you can easily customize that to your liking. In my opinion, the biggest downsides to a truck camper are not being able to pass from the camper to the cab without going outside and the overall height of the camper. You could probably turn the front camper window and rear truck window into a makeshift pass-thru, but that would require upsizing the camper window and your truck would need to have a sliding rear window. Not having a pass-thru isn't exactly a deal breaker, but it would be a nice safety feature to have. As for the height, a popup camper would solve that, but popup models come with their own set of compromises. There are pros and cons to every choice, but I am leaning more toward getting a truck camper instead of a van, to save some money and to have a more off-road capable rig. I hope you guys enjoy it!
I like the idea of a truck camper vs a van. For me it would be more 4x4 truck options. Then keeping the camper when a new truck is rotated in down the road. Then the option to setup a basecamp and go explore with the 4x4 truck. And lastly I like the width of a truck camper inside vs a van.
Must take Instapot and a blender, I have a Kitchen-aid too. We have a 17” Blackstone griddle. You have the convection oven, so you don’t need the outdoor oven. I have my commercial mini donut maker too. I do breakfasts for the folks we camp with. Also the potlucks and when I am in Campgrounds I sell them to pay for my site. It makes 600 donuts an hour. I am popular if I stay for more the 3 days, word spreads.
I had a Nucamp Tab for a while, but it turns out I HATE towing. Hope you’re as happy with the product as I was. Mods needed for full time, of course, but you guys know what to do, easy peasy. Congratulations!
Love it! One option for the backup camera we used with ours was to get a oem camera from ram and plug it in where the one for the tailgate goes and had it mounted to the rear of the camper. Enjoy!
In my humble opinion NuCamp makes the finest RV on the market today. We have a 2022 TAB 400. We have given lots of tours in the campground. We never seen anyone else doing that. I will bet people will want a tour also. Congratulations enjoy all your wonderful and amazing adventures just down the road. Have fun and happy travels.
Congratulations guys and Happy new year 2023!!! Get the truck weigh separate and then together to see how much it weight together and if you are under you can see how much you can bring. Love the layout!!!! Can’t wait to see all the adventures and pistol how lovely 🥰 !!!
Great blank canvas to set up! Our micro is paper plate & bread storage. Wife's instant pot goes above dinette. Her Instant Vortex airfryer goes in front of Alde Reservoir. I installed shelving to allow space to take in/out. Pots, pans & plastic food container go on shelves above so I can easily remove to top off Alde Fluid. (Keep an extra gallon on hand outside) Most our spices are on a shelf made above entry door & held in place with spring curtain rod. Use rods also in fridge so stuff doesn't fall out after travel days. Especially off road! Knives are held on fridge wall above stove (blade down) with a magnetic bar. We keep a bin with canned good under sink in case it leaks again (ruined dry beans & pasta). We've converted dinette to a sofa. There is storage at head of bed (lift board) where we keep wipes & t.p. Also, beware when opening skylight, debris tends to accumulate and fall onto bed when opening. Love star gazing! Welcome to Cirrus! Message me for more info on our Lithium, transfer switch & 0.05 micron water filter system. No space for Berkey.
So excited for y’all! Great new experiences ahead! It will all fit just fine, remember to breathe and enjoy the settling in process ok? This will be great!!
Congratulations! There is a lot to love about Truck Campers. We are on our fifth unit. But...there is one thing that I believe you are going to dislike about TC's. There is no where to comfortably relax in the evenings. It's impossible to relax around a dinette. You may very well miss your swiveling captains chair. You will love the ability to "get out there" but the trade off in comfort may not be worth it. Mike
Outfitting the new RV is always a fun challenge! We found a variety of soft fabric bins at Target that we use to organize clothes in several cabinets. They are like a braided rug turned into a basket with leather handles. They squeeze into different shaped spots! You might want to look up what Aaron and Chris (Irene Iron Travels) did to outfit their truck with lithium while they lived in the rooftop tent. You may or may not benefit from moving your power supply partially under the back seat of the truck? Love the bright interior of your camper! Very European looking…it will age well! Good luck and we look forward to your new adventures!
Pistol got up on the bed like a champ!!! I have been looking at a lot of truck campers and liked several, but this is the first time I have seen a NuCamp Cirrus. I love the layout. Thanks for sharing. It has moved onto my list. Safe travels.
The biggest plus I like is that you can disconnect and drive your truck to the shop for repairs yet leave your home where it's safe. If your van goes in the shop you have to worry about mechanics possibly stealing your property or have to pay for a hotel. With the repairs already costing what they do you don't want to have to spend additional expenses. There's always an upside if you think about it. Good luck 👍🥂
Love the truck camper. We would change one thing if we could. The kitchen sink so that the drain is on the left side instead of the right so that you could gain more storage space below. Pistol looks like she is loving the new home. Happy new year!
The cirrus camper have their own unique look. We ordered a 2022 Lance 1172 last year their largest model and picked it up in November after waiting a year for it to be built. I hope they have a good warranty Stoney boot have a cirrus camper and was brand new when the camper delaminated on the one side. They went back to the factory while cirrus replaced the entire side. They stayed in a motel while this was being done. Lucky under warranty.
I would recommend putting in a 12vdc fan (bus fan) and point it under your mattress thru the Froli system, you will never have a mold or mildew issue in colder weather. The aluminum frame will cause condensation if you don’t have moving air.
I moved into a 5th wheel recently (September). We got down into the low teens here in Texas last week. The furnace worked great, no complaints, but I burned through a lot of propane. I have 2 x 30 gallon tanks so there's plenty but you have to plan for the quick burn when you're using propane.
I could see you getting/making a bike rack for the interior of the camper. Just load them in through the back door and lock the wheels into a rack. Make it easy to remove for camp storage. Pro tip, use a label maker to make a tag for your instrument cluster with the rig's height +4-6in, for quick reference when approaching bridges and such.
Might work if we weren’t full time. Since we travel full time we stop a lot and are in and out of the camper a lot during the day for things like meals, getting groceries, etc. Would be a challenge to take the bikes out every time. Good idea on the height.👍
Excellent! You two are kinda reinventing yourselves with this new vehicle! It will be so cool seeing you three creating new content…The happiest of New Years to you guys 🎉🎊🪅🛻
You can buy external storage pods, had them mounted on my truck camper attached to Thule rack. Had another 4-season truck camper.Guest? Bed was reserved for our 2 Dutch Shepherds.
OK, so, I was, according to some other commenters, a bit tough on you, the Carey’s , & your change from Van to truck camper. My having watched every single Humble Road video there was in real time, before ever seeing a Vagabond video, I admit to having a shock & a recoiling from the very thought. I will be returning for the discussion videos about this new setup. The discussion on issues with a/c, with noise, with heating, with space, with storage, with the disconnect from having your front cab being one with the living quarters & with other subtle discussion of your van vs truck camper comparisons, is of keen interest from this small corner of your subscriber base. Thank you for the tour….,
Thank you for sharing this. If you enjoy having a blender, making frozen drinks and/or milkshakes - you might think about getting a Magic Bullet. Takes up less space than a large blender and it comes with 4 color coded drinking mugs too. Grin
totally understand traveling can be expensive including gas prices but the part that is worth it is traveling by RV or Car/Truck if you have a wheeler its the trip and photo's that brings the memories of RV life.
🙏 Great video 💪 ! Will be very interesting to eventually for you two do a video on what you see as the biggest "trade-offs" leaving the van as they obviously both have different pluses too. For example, how painful dropping from the lithionics to average battery resource, etc...
Will be interesting to see how much you upgrade the battery supply. May want to go for a huge creative upgrade install ? LOVE the height of the frog and the "open" airy-ness of the configuration.
Great design and good looking quality, only disappointment is absorption refrigerator and limited battery space. Wish manufacturers would offer compressor refrigerator and non-blacktank version.
Nice rig, love the ability to camp in colder weather with no worries. Yep, the AC location in the van is problematic, blows cold air on you when you are eating. We changed our AC unit out for a quieter one, much more enjoyable. Looking forward to what you think about the truck camper. Looks like Pistol is ok with the change 😄. Happy New Year.
Hi, I'm a new subscriber. UA-cam recommended your video because of the cirrus truck camper. Loved seeing the tour and setup of the camper. Hope you will continue to share information on the truck camper and the daily living on the road. Thanks for sharing.
So excited to see your truck camper adventures! I have similar windows, except mine don't have the red button. Not sure how to describe this feature. But if there is an open slot where the lock lever can fit, you can put the levers in there while away or sleeping & use your fan or vent to pull air through. I only found that out through UA-cam.
Hey 😀, I’m new to this channel 👍🏻. What a way to start this new year! Lot’s of exciting new adventures to come 🎉. This unit looks so owesome! Love it! I’m so looking foreard to following on your very first time out with this brand new unit, excellent choice, for sure 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻. Happy adventures 2023 🎉🎉🎉
been watching truck camper designs since 2017 to plan for a purchase someday. lots of great updates on several manufacturer models simce then. Your unit has many nice features
New subscriber! Congratulations and welcome to Truck Camping. Looking forward to following you and seeing how well the Alde does in cold weather. Happy Truck Camping adventures.
Lots of storage and when the shelving is put in that hanging closet there will be plenty room for your Instant Pot & Blender/Juicer if you decide to bring them. Having the table & bench on each side is going to be nice especially when it rains and may need to retreat inside. Looks like Pistol put her stamp of approval laying on the bed.👏🏼. New adventures & looking forward to the videos.
Happy New Year you 3😃Looks fantastic😃. So much more room to walk around each other. Look forward to seeing you do the bread Irene 🤗. Love the windows too. You'll be able to see more outside when stuck inside. Very nice indeed 🤗🤗🤗🤗 Carey on to new adventures😃
Oh Nice! You two are precious. Loving the new home. HAPPY NEW YEAR AND WHAT A START TO YOUR NEW YEAR. LOVING IT. GIVE LITTLE PISTOL A HUG FOR US. CAROLYN AND COLIN. SO NICE!
Hi!!! New here today. I love this truck camper!!! It’s really amazing how much space is in them. Funny how you said you went from all draws and no cabinets to the opposite now! Will take some getting used to. I love that you can sit straight up on the bed too!!! Looking forward to your videos. Safe & Happy Trails to You Both!!! 🎉
The TV I got at Walmart will run on 12 volt came with transformer. Went to Radio Shack for a replacement cord for the 12 volt. Sure you could make your own patch cord.
Woot! Beautiful new home! You might want to consider getting a compatible ceramic coating for both the truck and camper. It make the dirt almost melt away, if it sticks at all. It's a 1-2x yearly application.
Okay, i am just now getting acqainted with the two of you. Loved watching your video. I will def watch older ones with the van. Wish you happy trails in your new rig.
I think the biggest benefit of this setup over the van is you are not tied into the one vehicle. You could swap out pickups whenever you want. Pickup has reliability issues or craps out. Boom, trade it for another and away you go. Good luck.
I think the Cirrus truck campers are the nicest of them all. They had a prototype a couple of years ago with a sliding bathroom door that really opened the camper up but they never produced it. I also think they have the best heating system. Good luck.
I saw the video about 3 years ago. I believe it was a 720 prototype. The door was in a circle track and it hid the toilet and to use the bathroom you slid the door to the front of the track. It gave you a full stand up shower. I followed your van build on Humble Road. Loved your van and I live in South Jersey! It would have been perfect, but alas it sold immediately. Oh well.
Very nice. Curious to see the mods you make over time. Interesting location for battery. Having a four door truck is a big advantage. Our truck is a regular cab. I regretted not getting the four door.
She’s a beautiful camper! I like the north/south sleeping arrangement, I’ve never been fully comfortable with the east/west one in my van or truck for some reason.
Congratulations on the new Adventure guy’s! It’s always the unknown that keeps things fun and exiting! I recently sold my home on the river in Florida, I’m now finishing up building a small barndominium on some property in Volusia county. I purchased a Tacoma in July I’ve been looking at the ALU-Cab’s they’ve really peaked my interest. So once I’m done with this project I plan on that next! Can’t wait to follow y’all on your new adventures and who knows maybe we’ll see each other on the trail sometime😎☀️🌏
We enjoy your adventures and stories! I like the camper more after watching this. I have a suggestion for your silverware dilemma..... If it were me, I would look at an under cabinet spice rack or coffee keeper to modify to hold a silverware tray. It's hard to tell how much room there is but might be worth a try?
Happy New Year guys! I hope 2023 will be ever so good to you all. I am looking forward to your new adventures in your new home. It will be interesting to see how you adjust to the truck camper. I am taking notes for when I buy my truck camper. I try to learn from folks who have some experience with such things. And you two have a whole lot experience. Cheers and Carey On!
Good choice! What truck are you using to haul it? We have a NorthernLite 8-11 and have been camping with it for 3 summers. Like it a lot better than the Lance trailer we had before it. You can pretty much go anywhere, drop off the camper, and use the truck to explore, like a towable, but in a more compact package.
Happy New Year! Again congratulations on the new rig! I love NuCamp. Nice solutions and beautiful interior. I have the Alde system and love it. You can probably also get water and heat faster by using propane (more watts). Mine can be used in both parts when connected to shore power. Maybe you also have underfloor heating like mine. Another plus with alde is that the heating pipes heat up the external storage room. If you have an INet display (can be purchased later) you can call Alde and check the heat. Then you can also get a solution that measures the propane tank via bluetooth to the Alde display. Had this on my previous one. Enjoy friends, this is going to be amazing.
No underfloor heating in this one (I don’t think 😂🤷🏻♀️) but we are loving the Alde so far. Thanks for the tips, we will take all of those we can get! Lots to learn as we get going with this. Happy New Year!! 🥳
I think they will find there isn’t as much storage as they, think. There are lots of innovations to make more storage with baskets, wall racks and other things. Also, is their roof a “walk on roof” or do they need to watch the walking on the roof? I love my camper and am always learning more things.
The major issue I have with this is the wet bathroom. In such a small shower, you really don’t need the sink at all; and you could just have a composting toilet that you could move around, instead of the toilet in that shower. It seems there’s no elbow room when you’re using it. Also, the dinette area could be changed to chairs or left open for something else for more versatility of the space.
The insights on how noisy and uncomfortable van AC units can be is GOLD and exactly the types of "downsides" we want to hear about 😊
There will definitely be pros and cons to both and we are looking forward to figuring that out as we go. 😃
So true. There is always some give and take with every choice. Excited to give this a shot!
Totally agree with you guys 100%
For taller people they have 2 big advantages, standing headroom and residential length beds instead of the infamous 'RV queen'.
I’ve got to say that y’all look like you’re in love. You don’t know what joy that brings to your audience.
Thank you☺️❤️ We have been madly in love for 20 years. And best friends😉
If your truck is 4wd, your going to love it. Nice choice.
big, roomy and bright... and its done! its a bonus buying something already completed!
Went from an RV to a Host camper and never looked back. Love our truck camper hope you enjoy yours.
can you tell me why you switched?
take the sink out and flip 180 degrees. that way so can shorten the drian pipe. and then you can put in double stack draw on the right side.
Great truck! Thanks for sharing! Have a happy weekend!
Thanks, you too!
That's a great choice. If I ever got a truck camper, that's the same one I'd go with.
I had a Nucamp Tab for a while, but it turns out I HATE towing.
Hope you’re as happy with the product as I was. Mods needed for full time, of course, but you guys know what to do, easy peasy. Congratulations!
Thanks!
Love it! One option for the backup camera we used with ours was to get a oem camera from ram and plug it in where the one for the tailgate goes and had it mounted to the rear of the camper. Enjoy!
Great idea!

Yes a bit overwhelming but in the best way! Exciting times for sure!
I was going to build a truck camper. But I could not get over the open van concept. Seeing your truck I'm sure you'll be back in a van soon.... Enjoy!
I think you will love the TC.
The skylight over the bed would have been a selling point for me too.
It’s pretty cool😁

I am impressed with this Nucamp

Hi, I'm a new subscriber. UA-cam recommended your video because of the cirrus truck camper.
Loved seeing the tour and setup of the camper. Hope you will continue to share information on the truck camper and the daily living on the road. Thanks for sharing.

New subscriber! Congratulations and welcome to Truck Camping. Looking forward to following you and seeing how well the Alde does in cold weather. Happy Truck Camping adventures.

Yes we definitely have a lot of organizing to do. That closet should provide a lot of storage once we get shelving in there!
Congratulations guys ,I know you will make work. Really think your going to miss the van being energy independent, height & length . Good luck!!

Functional design and beautiful quality! I think you made a great choice.
So far so good!🙌
I love that! Will you do a truck tour next?
Oh I thought you meant the convection microwave is where you bake your scones. You have a very nice rig. Thanks for the tour.
😁🙌
The TV I got at Walmart will run on 12 volt came with transformer. Went to Radio Shack for a replacement cord for the 12 volt. Sure you could make your own patch cord.
If we decide we want to keep a tv we’ll definitely get a tv that works on 12 volt.🙌😁
Check out the TucTec folding kayaks. Way cool!
This is just Simply Beautiful....
Woot! Beautiful new home!
You might want to consider getting a compatible ceramic coating for both the truck and camper. It make the dirt almost melt away, if it sticks at all. It's a 1-2x yearly application.
Thanks! We already got the ceramic “wax” 🙌🙌
Okay, i am just now getting acqainted with the two of you.
Loved watching your video. I will def watch older ones with the van. Wish you happy trails in your new rig.
Thank you and welcome to our vagabond family!
Buy the Trucker GPS with allow you to place a height parameter. Looks great good luck.
Good idea!
Great move to venture outside your comfort zone. Inspiring. Thanks for sharing. You have a new subscriber!!
Welcome!
I think the biggest benefit of this setup over the van is you are not tied into the one vehicle. You could swap out pickups whenever you want. Pickup has reliability issues or craps out. Boom, trade it for another and away you go. Good luck.
Yes!!
Wow…this is absolutely awesome!! And Pistol did a great job of supervising!! Good luck with the new ride/home!
Thanks!
I think the Cirrus truck campers are the nicest of them all. They had a prototype a couple of years ago with a sliding bathroom door that really opened the camper up but they never produced it. I also think they have the best heating system. Good luck.
That sliding bathroom door sounds interesting! We are loving the Alde system so far!
Oh well.
It did sell fast. Thanks:)
Love the Cirrus 820 but the small fridge is a deal breaker for me. I wonder if larger fridge is an option?
Very nice. Curious to see the mods you make over time. Interesting location for battery. Having a four door truck is a big advantage. Our truck is a regular cab. I regretted not getting the four door.
Thanks. I think the back seat will be handy to store things not used often inside. Maybe even a bike.
She’s a beautiful camper! I like the north/south sleeping arrangement, I’ve never been fully comfortable with the east/west one in my van or truck for some reason.
Thanks Joe. And with two people, someone doesn’t have to climb over the other one in the middle of the night;)
Beautiful rig. Thanks for sharing!
Thanks!
Carey On!!
Very nice!!!
Happy New Year! And Happy Camping! Enjoy watch your videos 😊
Happy New Year!
great camper,you guys!
Thanks!
We’ll look at that. Thanks:)
A great way to begin the new year in a different rig! Safe travels
Thank you!
Looking good! Hope you are getting things sorted by now and figuring out what works for you as far as where things go! Happy New Year.
Happy New Year!
I love the layout of this and the design. Wish I had money to buy something likethis lol
Thanks!
Just found your channel when on last video when you discussed the change. Looking forward to seeing your adventures.
Thanks!
Love your new set up. Wishing you the best.
Thanks!
Happy New Year!
@@CareyOnVagabond looking forward to how you set and store everything up in the camper. You two are the masters of using space efficiently! Carey On!
🙌😁
Good choice! What truck are you using to haul it? We have a NorthernLite 8-11 and have been camping with it for 3 summers. Like it a lot better than the Lance trailer we had before it. You can pretty much go anywhere, drop off the camper, and use the truck to explore, like a towable, but in a more compact package.
Thanks. It’s a Ram 4x4 heavy duty bighorn.
Happy New Year!! I'm so excited for you guys
Thank you!☺️
Happy New Year!

This is very nice!
You look so beautiful with long hair. Love you two!
Thanks! I assume you mean me,
Dave
😉😂😂😂
Awesome.. enjoy!!
Thanks!
I’m surprised on how spacious the interior is
I think they will find there isn’t as much storage as they, think.
6 years full time and we’ve definitely never needed a bathroom sink.😉
I can see a trip to Alaska in that rig
It’s on the list;)
Nice, this is going to be fun🥳
💃🏻🕺🏼🥳
Congratulations.
Thanks!
