  • The SCARY Truth about Paul Skenes Nobody Is Noticing
    Seeing a 21-year-old with such command not only on the mound but also on audiences speaks volumes about his potential. We don’t know about you, but it’s pretty SCARY to think of how good he’ll get as he grows older and whether his arm can sustain this level of strain over time.

      Now, it’s as clear as day, it’s not every day that a pitcher like Paul Skenes comes along. With the ability to ramp up to 102 mph, he's in a league of his own, leaving even seasoned veterans in awe. It's rare for a starter to consistently throw triple-digit fastballs, let alone with such precision and power. But Skenes is more than just a fireballer. He boasts a full arsenal of five pitches, each one capable of generating swings and misses.
      But apart from how incredible his performance was, Skenes' debut also made history to have drawn the 5th-largest audience in MLB.tv history. And to think that the guy is only just starting his career.

    He has what it takes to be the best pitcher in baseball history. He has a goddam cannon for an arm. He is the man who can throw the ball faster than fuck. Yes he had no hitter against the cubs. Yes he has a 1980s Ron Jeremy mustache, and Yes he rizzed up Livy, she's pretty nice. That's what makes him better than everyone in the world. Good night and may God bless the United States of America.

    This young man has Hall of fame written all over him. intimidation like Randy Johnson. precision like Nolan Ryan. seriously doubt the Pirates are going to be able to keep him with the amount of money Yankees. The Dodgers are going to throw him eventually.

      "Precision like Nolan Ryan" is pretty disparaging. Ryan was a fireballer but walked more people than anyone else in history by a vast, vast margin. Over 50% more walks than #2 on the list

    Will people need to pump the brakes on Skenes. Let's wait until he has gone through the league a second time, by then other teams should have a book on him. Let's not forget that he plays for the Pirates, one of the worst teams in baseball. Also with a manager, pitching and hitting coaches who should not even be in the majors. Let's say that Skenes turns out to be as advertised. Does anyone think for one minute that he will last with the Pirates once he reaches his arbitration years. The Pirates, thanks to the worst ownership in North American sports would either not be able to afford Skenes or they would be unwilling to pay him what he's worth. I could certainly see Skenes being dealt for low level prospects and Rowdy Tellez type players 3 years from now.

      Maybe Skenes will be the Pirates' secret weapon and turn the team around!

    He needs to learn to pitch not throw now or that elbow will become another statistic soon.

      What are you taking about? He's all about pitching, it's not just harder faster with this guy. He's got an insane pitch variety he uses and his command is great. Sure he can throw 100+ but has everything else pitchers can only hope to have and he's adding more and getting better with them every game. He's got a mix of four-seamer, slider, changeup, his trademark splinker, and is now throwing a curve that touches the 70's and is just messing everyone up after seeing everything else he's got. I'm just waiting for him to develop a knuckle ball so batters can just forfeit their at bats altogether.

    • @aspe7187

      @@stevej.1428 Throwing is not pitching. Skenes (and many others) are also not in proper fielding position after the release, making them susceptible to a liner off the noggin or elsewhere. Watch Nolan Ryan videos for the best hard "pitching". 27 years is your proof.

    One thing I don’t like about this situation is the pirates manipulating his service time. Right now he cannot get enough days for 2024 to count as a full season, but if he was brought up 29 days earlier he would have, and that may not seem like a big deal now but it will when he gets to free agency, cause that means the pirates have an extra year of control over skenes. And that one year could easily be worth $30-$50 million for Paul depending on how things go. The MLB is horrible at doing this to players and it should be banned. Most of these guys are lucky to get on a roster let alone make it to free agency so they should let them negotiate for what they are worth. The rookie contract BS is exactly that… BS. And I get it they have to show what they can do and so on but no one is saying these teams have to sign these guys to long term contracts? You could do a $30mill on year contact or whatever. There are lots of options that I feel are better than giving the clubs this much control over a player. Because this has cost a lot of guys tons of money or parts of their career..

    • @foulball
      @foulball  16 днів тому +1

      Totally agree with you on this one. It's time for the MLB to rethink their policies and give players a fair shot.
