Yes! I've been waiting for good footage of this race for years! It's somehow scarce on the internet. Thanks!

A few years later I was building Tamiya's Jordan 191 modelkit. As this kit doesn't include Schumacher decals I built de Cesaris car.
I almost had the car finished - just the mirrors were missing - when my father called me because the F1 race was about to start: Belgium Grand Prix 1998...
The car was finished the same day. And I was very satisfied! 😀

1991: Wow, this Schumacher guy looks pretty handy, can't wait to see more of him!
13 years later: Please, please, please make him stop! Someone, anyone beat him!

Blundell eulogising that you have to "admire the way they've gone about things."
Me primarily who grew as a Benetton fan and still loved Schumacher: "Yeah but it's getting so fucking boring now."
Unfortunately it set the tone for the next 24 years of dynasties barring a few years here and there. Which truly is depressing.

Seeing that again hurts .... damn than could have been a great podium with Alesi and de Cesaris, f... McLaren in those days 😒

I think afterwards Patrese said something like "When McLaren have a problem, they win. When we have a problem, we retire."

Son of a plumber, the West German Dream Dusty Schumacher.
Now I’m imagining Schumacher in black overalls with yellow polkadots.

If Michael Schumacher is Dusty Rhodes, then by that logic, Mick Schumacher is Dustin and Max Verstappen is Cody.

And from this race onwards, Formula 1 changed forever with the debut of Michael Schumacher

I don't think so personally. Schumacher was always going to be in F1. He maybe would've ended up with Sauber and their entry rather than Benetton.

It's The Michael :) I'd already seen him in sportscars driving for Sauber. He was rapid in that too.

With Schumacher on this grid, I think you could argue it is one of the most impressive ever: Senna, Prost, Piquet, Mansell, Hakkinen, and Schumacher (20 world championships among them). Wow!

Really feel for Andrea - could've been his crowning moment after being dumbfounded by his new upstart team-mate outdoes him in qualifying - some prospect that lad - only to be denied by a Ford official who forgets to mention the extra 2 kilos they needed in fuel.
I really wouldn't put it past EJ to be trying his Machiavellian best to get Gachot out at all costs. The fact that he was so uncomfortable being next to Gachot after all these years shows there' may be smoke in that gun yet (if it was Coulthard's wish to get this done to make EJ squirm all I can say is chapeau, DC, chapeau).
I think Guy missed a trick in not entertaining Piquet's move just a bit more. Given the choice of Piquet or Boutsen, I don't think Thierry would see another racing car again if Piquet was remotely serious.

@@theiceman7590 Flavio Briatore is on record saying he wanted Piquet (for less money offcourse) and Schumacher for 1992. Walkinshaw however had different ideas . Given that Brundle needed half a season to adjust, losing points, Benneton made a mistake. With Piquet in a lineup in 1992 , Benneton would have scored more points than they did actually . Piquet was old in 1991 , yet he still beat the young "hot shot"Alesi in a better Ferrari .
