OH MY GOD THIS IS SO COOL. The attention to detail from the book but also with some of your own unique interpretations and elements sprinkled in, Navidson's desperation, panic, and ultimately confusion- great interpretation of the anxiety-inducing sequence from the source material. Easily my favorite part though is how you adapted the "growl," I always imagined it as quieter and more subtle, but i love this loud rumbling version way more. I'm definitely gonna hear the SFX from this whenever I read the book now, no wonder Holloway lost it if he was down there listening to this for days on end.
I live in a city with tram stops and tend to wander a lot. lately I’ve had these nightmares about endlessly wandering the city from street to street and tram stop to tram stop, trying to get home but not knowing how. I remember in the dream it was day and then night the day again, implying some time had passed, yet I was still endlessly wandering and trying to get back home. I’m afraid I’ll be stuck like that forever until I wake up and realise it was a dream. This video captures that feeling. Even though the house and the city from my dreams are in a lot of ways opposites, the house being claustrophobic and dark where the city is a wide open space set mostly in the day, they both fill me with the same dread; being in a place that I was only ment to be temporarily, but it becoming to vast and endless I fear I will never make any progress going to where I want to be. And stuck there forever.
This is fantastic! The darkness feels so oppressive despite how mundane the corridor is, and the growl sounds exactly how I imagined it when reading the book. You deserve a lot more views for the time and effort you’ve put into this- really amazing work
HOLY crap its so accurate to the book. Its crazy how underrated this channel is; especially given the book's influence not just on liminal spaces type stuff, but its direct connections to Remedy's games (the sibling of the author, poe, has sticker references to her all over alan wake 2). Its pretty much where all of the modern new weird stuff came from
Super accurate, lol. Well, there was glaring issue that I hyperfixated on for this and Part 1... that being the baseboards. And the moulding and trim. It is not supposed to exist, nor is the different colored floor. But maybe that's just because I am an HoL superfan and have everything in that book memorized, haha.
I think the book undoubtedly had a strong influence on the whole backrooms horror concept. Perhaps not overtly or even consciously, but it planted the seeds.
holy shit i started reading hol a while ago, perfect time to find this. this is sooo good man, and horrifying too i turned my lights off for this. dont stop man keep it up
This is cool, but not quite accurate in a number of ways. For one, the corridors are described as being completely featureless. No finished floors. So no wood. Just the same black material on all walls, ceilings and floors. No doors either, at least not where I am in the book (page 150). Just "passageways". The constant hum you hear in the video isn't supposed to be there either, as the place is supposed to be *completely* silent, to the point you could hear a pin drop a mile away. Also it's freezing cold so maybe you should be able to see the character's breath
Working in a dark museum while reading the book and watching this is chilling

So glad UA-cam pointed me to your channel. This is giving me the itch to read HoL again.
I've seen plenty of people try to adapt this over the years. You're the first to actually succeed, imo. Tremendous stuff!
This book is like the backrooms before even the backrooms exist

@@morkar90 True. I feel like the book was the "lovecraft origin" of all the liminal space horror including the backrooms tbh
This needs to be everywhere. Its so good. I'm obsessed and anxiously awaiting more.
Can't wait for your take on Exploration #4 😈
