It's pretty ridiculous the iPhone has not adopted any kind of split screen option. For people that say they wouldn't use it anyways, that's great it would be optional. It should be an option.... There are obvious practical benefits to it.
Apps for iOS and iPadOS are designed to not need a back button. You can swipe from the left edge of the screen to navigate back in a browser. Dialog boxes, pop-overs and slide-up panels can usually be dismissed by tapping outside the area, tapping a close button or swiping down on them.
