My car a/t temp light is flashing. I am getting a P0801 code. Gear selector solenoid not activating and stuck in park . What is the possible cause for that problem?
Great videos.. my 06 Forester 4EAT has a thump in the shift from 3-4th when cold. This seems to go away once the car has warmed up to operating temperature. Do you think a valve body maintenance could be a good option? Thank you
hey brother thanks. I tackled this today on my 09 forester and fixed the hard shift problem. Took my time and reference your vid a cpl times. Freaking awesome.
This is a great video, thank you for sharing! I am working on a 2006 Outback with the 4EAT transmission. It seems to try and shift into 3rd almost immediately after shifting into second, then shifts back into 2nd. It only does this when it is cold, then shifts normally once warm. I'm thinking a set of solenoids may correct this issue, do you think there is any reason to get any further into the valve body? Thanks again!
@@NotSoBasicThings I don’t know of a reliable way to get solenoids- other than used (not always reliable) , they are only available in a complete valve body from the dealership
@@iptperformancetrans I believe I’ve found a set, although I have to verify. Just wondering if it’s safer to do the whole thing or if solenoids are likely to solve the issue. Thanks again!
Tenho um xt 2.0 turbo com 4eat que funciona todas as marchas acima progressivamente mas na redução a primeira não reduz, só da um leve tranco e não reduz mas o engraçado é que como eu disse acelerando a primeira marcha atua
There isn’t a useful performance shift kit on the market. We do our own modifications when people send us valve bodies, which are proprietary and I’m definitely not going to do a video on that
Maybe if time permits I will try to do that When I first did a 4EAT in the 90’s (og phase 1 style) I would have never thought that I would still be talking about them today⚙️
@iptperformancetrans I do not know if it is a solenoid making the noise it is quite loud. It sounds to me like cavitation in the pump, but it only happens when the tcc duty solenoid is active. I drove the car with the duty cycle PID graphed and there was a clear corelation between the duty being greater than 0 and the noise starting / stopping. It also seems like the duty cycle affects the tone. If driven in sport mode the noise does not occur under 40 mph. Just drove the car with the tcc solenoid wire discounted. The noise is completely gone. 2010 forester 2.5x 263k miles no codes. May shift a little harsh but it seems like it always has.
@iptperformancetrans I saw an exploded view of the valve body. There is a TCC regulator and control valve. If one of these stuck or leaked, could it aggravate the pump? Are there any test that can be done without tearing apart the transmission? Where can I find service data for this transmission?
@@remingtonbaker3376 That’s odd, I’ve seen anything like that, perhaps the clutch is slipping. Are you able to compare engine rpm with turbine shaft rpm? The numbers should be very close to the same when the clutch is commanded on.
@@iptperformancetrans I'm in process of making my Forester into a more off road and work vehicle type setup. I'm not really concerned about power mods, except what the bolt on parts will produce. Could you explain the performance increase for a setup like I'm trying to achieve? Also, I was reading a bit about your rebuild kit for the 4eat. The gearing ratio has nothing to do with the kit applicability, correct?
@@kevinvanover4005 Gearing has nothing to do with a rebuild kit and the value body work is going to yield improvements in shift quality and overall transmission durability.

With the color of that atf I wouldn't be surprised if it was having issues.
The fluid had just never been changed in 20 years, the transmission itself wasn’t so bad.

Hello great job do you have any video's of doing the phase 1 4eat? Trying to learn to rebuild them for the SVX. Thank you
Useful video thank you so much

4eat jerks when you try to maintain speed , also you hear clinking noise on the left side when driving

It was a fairly good condition transmission that was at our shop for a performance upgrade
Have you had a 4EAT make a howling / buzzing sound only when the tcc duty solenoid is active?
No.
You can hear a solenoid buzzing when you are driving down the road?

I can, but it was my understanding that the tcm intentionally slipped the clutch? If that was the case, wouldn't it set a DTC?
