    Ran into an issue:
    Needed to take the provided circlips out of the locker and put them in my axle ends.
    This wasn’t in the video but I’ve seen other people run into as well.
    It’s in small text in the installation guide.
    I’ll be doing a full breakdown video for my 02 outback h6 hopefully soon

      And LSD is different then a Torq locker.
      In my own opinion the Torq locker is much more superior

    Probably a good idea to tap the 1/4 inch hole for the breather before you put the diff cover on. That way no metal shavings get into the diff. Thanks for the video!

    Maybe a length of tubing over the punch to help keep the keeper pin aligned for reassembly?

    I did a 4.44 swap in my 92 SVX and didn't know these existed till now. I ended up loading the LSD carrier into the new 4.44 donor instead. I guess for streetability, the LSD provides for a smoother action and these lockers are meant for more offroad use. I'll definitely keep them in mind when I EJ swap my Justy.
    I did notice a difference between how I load the pumpkin vs how you did.
    I leave the lateral links alone and remove/install the axles as I'm lowering/raising the pumpkin in and out. It takes less time and I don't have to worry about possibly snapping the long bolts that are notorious for corrosion. That being said, I live in the desert, so corrosion isn't an issue, I just prefer the ease of removal/installation. What are your thoughts on this method vs the way you depicted in your video?

    • @aint_onmyrocker
      @aint_onmyrocker  3 роки тому +2

      That’s a great swap! I would love to swap a 3.3 SVX motor into my forester.
      I definitely agree on the smoother action with the LSD. I have buddies who switch their locker off when on the street. I don’t, I run my all the time. Have to be careful of turning fast/ sharp.
      I also live in the desert and have no corrosion issues. It’s nice.
      I believe both ways are appropriate. Really comes down to how a person was taught, and their preference.
      John preferred to do it this way, so we did.
      I think the important part is making sure things go back together properly, and snug.

    • @B1GDaddyFatStax
      @B1GDaddyFatStax 3 роки тому +2

      @@donovanbonner7111 not unless you change gear ratios. Take the SVX for instance. It originally comes stock with an LSD in the rear, but open diff in the front. This makes the car very streetable. Putting a locker in the rear will make it bind noticeably more on the street, but still tolerable. Put it in the front also....then kiss street driving goodbye.

    I've heard diff bushings should be replaced if doing this, anything else recommend to replace that's not failing at the time, also is an alignment needed with what has to be loosened on the the control arms? Have one waiting to be installed! Thanks

    • @aint_onmyrocker
      @aint_onmyrocker  2 роки тому

      You can replace the bushings while your down there. I didn’t because it didn’t look bad.
      Just visually inspect it.
      Not sure about an alignment. I didn’t not need one.
      If you do replace anything else while your down here, absolutely do your clutch pack in your transmission. You will have already had to take the parts off needed to across that

    My Forester is a 2011. I thought to replace the seals on each side just because they old, although not leaking. Any insight on this? Additionally my Forester has about 175000 miles with original CV axles. Perhaps replace since I am this far into disassembly?
