Thank you so much for recommending this tiny powerbank! These usages won't be possible with other bulky & huge powerbank, I am definitely getting a few for my family.
I actually use mine to record bicycle rides, so I think that I am one of the few uses cases that actually benefits from the GoPro 11 voice recognition features. The benefit, is that I can orient the camera any way that I want so that the "feet" can be exposed to the mount, while also allowing the batter to be attached in multiple ways. Of course, I have to edit the video to get it right-side-up in some cases. I use the Garmin Virb desktop application for this. It's at end-of-life but does most of the things that I need it to do.
I’m glad you found this product as well. Can’t believe I haven’t found this sooner. You’re right, I didn’t mention the USB to USB-C cable and pouch that come with it as well.
Have you tried the Ulanzi power bank sticks they are threaded top and bottom so you can mount the camera directly onto to the power bank or add it to a selfie stickgimbal which I do quite often, especially on a mini/full size tripod. I have the smaller BG-2 which is 6800mAh power bank which is very small and weighs 271 grams. I just ordered the BG-3 which is 10000mAh and has 2 output ports one of which can do fast charge.
For using on a bike, small is of course ideal. There is another one I have used recently that I really like as well. It’s this one: amzn.to/3vwpmOK It has a display so you can see exactly how much charge is left, how much is being used, etc while still being relatively small (weighs less than 300g) and isn’t too bulky.
I purchased the pixy mini and tried using it without the GoPro battery: however my GoPro 11 says no battery and shuts down. I even tried pro labs using tsub=1 command and still doesn’t work. Do you have any suggestions?
Curious how oft does your GoPro 'not start' powered only by powerbank... I found that you really need a hefty powerbank, and then still, it will not 'fire' saying that there isn't enough current... I found it very buggy (I remove the battery of GoPro mostly due to the heat, in a studio, the GoPro10 will overheat in 10 minutes or so... annoying)
I have only had this happen a few times. When it does I disconnect the power bank, hit the power button on it and then reconnect the power bank. This usually does the trick.
When I power my Hero11 with a USB Power Bank it records around 35 minutes of footage then it powers down, complaining it's too hot. The metal fixtures underneath the case are too hot to touch at this point. What am I doing wrong?
ah - you see if you leave the battery in it will go through the battery in the same way. Now with go pro 11 and 12 I think the camera wont work without the battery in (they did it to stop external power banks.) Ideally a go pro 9 with a battery (you can buy them) that allows access to the usb port which allows you to fit a power bank... BUT it wont be waterproof..!
Any suggestions for a power bank that can run a chest mounted go pro and a lav mic at the same time, for about 5-6 hours? I need it on my boat. I’ll probably keep the power bank in my back pocket.., Thanks!
Yes, I really like this one from Anker and it’s on sale right now: amzn.to/3tBdzNK I just bought another one for myself. It holds a lot of power and is a high quality power bank. The last one I got (prior gen) I’ve owned for a few years now and use it a lot.
With the bat inside it gets damn hot and the battery swells, had to throw 3 in the bin, without it, it can lady 10 hrs with a 512GB card and never gets hot…I use npf batteries.
You mentioned that it provides enough battery and amperage for the GoPro to be powered, but you are using the Labs firmware to bypass the power check? Wouldn't that mean it isn't reporting the correct power needed for the GoPro?
I would also like to know if the only way this device is working is by installing the Labs Firmware to bypass the power check. Is this what you are doing @GreatDayForAHike ?
Yup, Velcro could be used for this as well but I have found Velcro and the adhesive that holds it to not hold up so well. So I use rubber bands, but if Velcro is what you prefer then great. Lots of different options for securing the Pixy Mini.
Velcro would be a great use case on the gimbal but I likely wouldn’t be able to on the Volta or bottom of the GoPro as it would block the legs from being unfolded.
I don’t typically record continuously because there is rarely a good reason to do so but I have done some recordings of entire hikes before and the GoPro has served me well with no issues of overheating when recording in 5.3K or 4K continuously for more than an hour.

You’re welcome! Yes I love the size to power ratio. It fits a specific need really well. Enjoy!
Thanks for the heads up on this compact power bank!
Im surprised no one has came out with a power back with built in GoPro mount ears.
You’re welcome! Yes, I am surprised as well. Maybe we’ll see something like this soon.

I have it. Comes in handy. Glad it come with a cable and pouch for save usage. Mine is in purple.
Yes, the cable and pouch are nice as well.
This looks like a great product. Love the size.
I have it and it's actually crazy small! Not to mention comes with a free pouch and cable too
I’m glad you found this product as well. Can’t believe I haven’t found this sooner. You’re right, I didn’t mention the USB to USB-C cable and pouch that come with it as well.
Thank you. I did order one from Amazon. It will be here on Friday and I’ll try it out.
The price is great on this too. I consider it reasonable for what this power bank offers for size and capacity.
@@GreatDayForAHike I normally carry the small anker magsafe batteries given I use an iPhone. But I am looking forward to trying this one.
what output amperage is needed on external battery to to power gopro without internal battery?
Does this solve the overheating problem when using without the battery installed?
Yes. The battery is the main cause of Gopros overheating. You can shoot for hours using this method and your Gopro will not even get warm
Yes, I agree with this feedback.
I wonder if the small rig battery holder would work with the pixi mini
The dimensions of the power bank are 2.9” x 1.18” x 1” if that helps.

I have not tried this one but it sounds like a great invention. I’ll have to check it out. Thanks for the tip!
Will that work for the GoPro hero 7?
Yes it will.
Thanks. Does the Pixi Mini can power the DJI Osmo Action 3 w/o a battery inside the unit? Thanks, Stefano
Very interesting. But what kind of variant would you recommend for use on a bike (DJI OSMO action 4 with quick mount)?

Try a different cable, it worked for me
I agree with this suggestion to try a different cable. Some cables cannot support the needed amperage and voltage to power the GoPro.

With my Hero 12 I am able to power it without the battery inserted. So it may be worth trying that.
@@GreatDayForAHike sorry didnt explain very well the battery will over heat and cam shut down.
Hi! And this Power bank also good for the hero 9 black without battery, and work whit media mode whit, and work when i recording? Thank you!
Yes, it should work well with the GoPro Hero 9 and newer.

@OffRoadCycling I have used it connected to a GoPro with the stock firmware (not Labs) and it worked okay for me.

Dont forget..now you need a 512GB memory Card for all this extra hours
Yup. I use and recommend the SanDisk Extreme 512GB MicroSD card in mine.
@@GreatDayForAHike But i think you can not record continous because of overheating
