What's even creepier than a lone wolf in the distance is a pack of coyotes in a nearby field screaming to each other. That shit will send shivers up your spine if you ain't ready for/used to it
I grew up in NH and never saw the aurora borealis. It’s deadly cold though, mt Washington sets records for being cold and brutal. I moved to Florida so I don’t have to survive the winter anymore. Love watching you survive in it though! Keep up the good work!

The Long Dark is definitely fun and it just had an expansion area released. It’s an interesting game that’s a combination of moments of stress tempered by moments of quiet contemplation as you’re trudging through the wilderness. I really like the animation style and the score is filled with excellent ambient music.

@Rodney 1984 Yeah that’s definitely the thing I like about a survival run on TLD. The level of customization for any given play through makes it interesting to experiment with. If you want a game of zero wildlife and just you against the weather and dwindling supplies, no problem. You want nightmare wolves that can catch your scent from a ridiculous distance and hunt you down mercilessly, that’s an option. Eternal night with temperatures plummeting every 24 hours, you got it. You want just a leisurely stroll through the woods to enjoy the environment and you can do that too. The re-playability value is great.
@@thatguy2535 Except for the cabin fever. I played it a few years ago on PS4, got settled down in a little cabin, got food and water sorted, spent a couple days reading books and boom, cabin fever. I quit at that point but I know you now have the option to turn that off which I would 100% recommend.
@Rodney 1984 just rip the curtains up and wrap it around your foot you'll be 100% and I love how they nailed the opioid crisis pain pills in every trashcan and shelf you touch, who cares if you sprained your ankle 3 times in a row when you can take enough pills to kill a bull moose... Or you know you can sleep for a few hours or whatever 🙄
this is just like the long dark it's alot of check items and make sure the clothes are dry or warm enough . And be sure to manage what you have it can be life or death thats plain and simple

22:10 With how much you enjoy environmental storytelling and being able to read through old journals, I'm surprised to have never seen Fallout on this channel. There are entire stories told through reading old journals and computer entries, as well as body and item placement. I feel like you would really love the worlds and storytelling
yes!! not the best game but fallout 76. Fooster would love the mystery/lore/stories of the mutated animals/people. Fisk would love the crafting and building side of the game and then Taco the loot goblin will love the loots and collectables in the game.

@@thefoosterchannel new vegas was a good one, 4 is kinda better, you can build your own base, customize weapons, armor, and more...the only downside is the easily accessable power armor...feels weird to be able to use it without having to join the Brotherhood
i feel like it starts off a bit cheeky. Well over 10 wolves in a single spot, then immediately a bear just' a' wanderin'. Silly lol, but cinematically appropriate i suppose.
Then the depth of the game kicks in, and this becomes amazing.

Hanging from a tree like that with your parachute generally causes you to die because parts of your body are being cut off from your bloodflow, causing all kinds of issues on top of the problem of hanging from a tree.

The howl that you hear @3:31 is a howl that wolfes do, to let the pack know they killed something thats why all the wolves left when they heard the howl, just wanted to let you know :)

I love how I’ve started to notice that fooster adds effects to his speech to add to the immersion. Like the echo in caves and buildings in other videos. Great attention to detail 🤙
Has limited torches, misses one, immediately lights the rest on fire instead of saving them for when he sees wolves

I grew up in New Hampshire so I'm very familiar with Mount Washington. Little fact though we don't have grizzlies and wolves there . The closes things we have are black bears , mountain lions ,bobcats and coyotes . The winter aspect is very true though especially on the peek of the mountain. And the snow is very high as well.
Just speaking from a state that deals with bears on a yearly basis, they won't eat everything but they will kill everything. Specially when that something is either in it's territory or has food readily available for it..

when I was a teenager, me and my friend did an acoustic show one night for friends and family. and that night there was an aroura borealis. nature provided the light show and one of the most memoral performances Ive ever done. Im glad youre healing well Fooster. keep on healing and growing as the channel. cheers

@Fooster I have always wondered how do you make things so immersive while watching your videos, and I think I figured out part of it. I noticed for the first time, that while you were in the cave you had an echo to your voice while talking to the viewers, that subtle audio enhancement made such a difference which made it feel like "we" were actually IN that cave! Props to you and you audio chops man! 🙇♂

i was lucky enough to see the aurora borealis on a flight from bangor maine to germany, while deploying to iraq...they were so gorgeous that it brought tears to my eyes. they are a must see.
You usually cant see the aurora from Mt Washington. Occasionally, but not every night. It is extremely cold and windy at the top. There is a road you can drive up or take an old train to the top. Lots of hiking trails to the top but nothing for a amateur as far as I know. Every year there are at least a couple stories of hikers getting lost or caught in a storm on the mountain.
Fooster playing survival games can get me through anything in life I have found

The Chicken-of-the-Woods mushroom-description was close to accurate; they're edible mushrooms that grow on tall-trees, except on eucalyptus-trees, where they absorb toxic defense chemicals from the host, they'd cause headache stomach-pain nausea vomiting and diarrhea, all the symptoms one can expect from drinking a strong tea made from eucalyptus bark and leaves.
As a rule IRL you never eat snow, unlese you really really have no other choise. if you have a flask you but in the snow in the flask and let it melt in your jacket. the best and main way is to boil it, put it in a flask and use it to warm you up and drink it as it body tempeture.

I'm going to go out on a limb and say that Joel isn't really there, he's already gone, and your brain is compensating.
Wolf packs vary in size in most areas somewhere around five or six, a big pack 10 to 12, with records of something called a 'super pack', where multiple packs come together the largest recorded was 300 wolves, all led by one of the biggest and agressive wolves ever recorded.

Mt. Washington is well known for its historically crap weather. In February of this year it got the super fun title for the coldest temperature in the US with it reaching -109°f. So Mt. Washington, NH is the perfect place for a game like this to be set, though i do unfortunately have to say that there arent really wolves in NH, but a bear will most definitely come say hello to you.

I watched the video you did on this a while ago, I didn't realize this took place in New Hampshire, I've done camping this month actually in the great gains, but it wasn't during a storm like this.
I watched Fisk play this a while back and I didn’t know it took place on Mt. Washington either. I hiked the White Mountains quite a few times back in my younger years, including Lafayette, but I’ve never done Mt. Washington. Sadly a few people were claimed by the area this winter. It’s absolutely beautiful there but it demands our respect.

Still at the 16 minute mark, I'm confused on why there's a what seems to be a military pilot stuck and dead up there in the trees? Because the story and the flashback shortly before eludes that the trio here are civilians that are only going on a hiking trip.
chugga musroom is a super survival tool, makes tea that boosts emune system and can be used to carry fire, chicken of the forest really good food source

Hell yeah fooster is playing winter survival simulator! Edit: Idk if this is the full game but I'm guessing its not. Really hopping to see the full game come out a fooster survive in the harsh winter climate conditions.
I'm not sure how the wolves in this game have managed to survive. They're basically as useless at hunting as a rabbit is. Except a rabbit can see, smell and hear and these wolves can do none of those things.
such situations, which also happen in reality, show that it is good to know Wim Hof breathing techniques, to learn them, Because we never know what will happen to us...

Mt. Washington, New Hampshire, is considered to be home to the “worst weather on earth”, but is (was?) home to the Mt. Washington Cog Railroad that I know was still running in the 80s and 90s with original steam engines, and even among cog engines they were pretty insanely designed. A good UA-cam video to it is “America’s Historic Steam Railroads - New Hampshire & Strasberg” uploaded by a guy called “Yestertapes” if you’d like a glimps at it, Fooster.
Your going to sneak past a pack of wolves and bear, and outrun them into a cave. Survival emersion broken. :P

I found this prologue I watched and I started to love it so I watched it twice I remember the Winter sim the first one you posted and I was trying to be patient and wait but I JUST CANT wait for the next part to come out I'm excited also love your channel and all the vids you post
If nobody mentioned it yet; yes. Charcoal can be used to remove traces of specific chemicals and metals in water. It also helps remove particles in water, making it clear. Both used in drinking water filters and aquarium filters, although the latter isn't a requirement.
Definitely need more of this game. Keep up the good work Fooster.

There is a Mt. Washington in New Hampshire (the state N of Massachusetts). It is a part of the Appalachian Trail. It is a beautiful, and very treacherous mountain. They can get storms with temps recorded to hit -100F or -73C. There are no wolves there. Just saying for perspective. Thanks for the awesome video Fooster.
