I don’t think it’s an exaggeration to say he is one of the most unique artists we’ll ever come across in our lifetime. And I do use the term artist and not comedian because I feel like that limits him
Yeah, this song's lyics have some speed bumps. That's intentional, because that's the internet at its core. A lot of people REALLY underestimate words like 'everything' when it comes to statements like this song.
"Could I interest you in everything, all of the time? A little bit of everything, all of the time? Apathy's a tragedy and boredom is a crime; anything and everything, all of the time!" This line is actual genius, I've never heard the internet summed up so well in so few words.
True especially the boredom is a crime since when you're on the Internet you still end up being bored wich makes you question what you're doing making you feel guilty yet so lost...
I love how the camera works throughout the song. In the beginning it’s slowly zooming in as Bo introduces you to the Internet and makes his sales pitch until eventually the camera starts cutting around like the pitch has gone out of control and then it slows down. The camera steadily zooms out as Bo recounts the watcher’s history with the Internet. After this, Bo laughs manically, showing the Internet’s “true face” as something evil. The camera zooms back in and the background lights up chaotically. The Internet is inescapable now. It draws you in and you can’t escape. That is the genius of Bo Burnham
I see Bo as a direct spiritual descendant of Tom Lehrer, he's been doing what Bo is doing now all the way in the 50s and 60s, highly suggest checking him out!
I love encountering people who've never heard of Bo and jump right into the deep end with Inside... It's akin to watching people think they can master a sport in a weekend. I've been following Bo for a decade and a half, so the shock value is sort of expected at this point.
Just wanted to add that the line "your time is now, your inside's out" is a callback to the theme "Inside", but used in a different way. The idea of "inside" is threaded throughout the show, whether talking about physically being inside a room/house, but also "inside" of us. People raised in the age of information have been conditioned to metaphorically put what is inside their heads out into the world via the internet. They say everything they're thinking. Oversharing is the new intimacy. I've watched a lot of reaction videos to the songs in the show, and I haven't seen anyone point out yet how he creatively plays with the concept of "inside", both in a physical sense and in a figurative sense.
I've always imagined the character he portrays in the song as one of those carnival barkers beckoning you to enter the Hall of Mirrors. The mirrors reflect every human desire, from the wholesome and tame to the perverse and profane. At the end, the mask comes off as he maniacally cackles at you because he knows that you the listener took the bait and now he's reeled you in, and you can now never escape no matter how much you want to.
Y'know when there is like the right amount of talking in between scenes? Yeah you have that. I genuinely enjoyed this. Thank you. Yup I subscribed and hit the bell. Also, can't wait for you to react to more of Bo.
Watching this through your eyes, Cliff... Bo is a complete headfuck the first time you watch any of his stuff but he's one of the best addictions to have! He's one of the most intelligent and articulate comedians I've ever seen and is on a par with Bill Hicks, George Carlin, Robin Williams and Billy Connolly with his comedy, but his creativity even surpasses theirs.
Can't handle this right now HAS to be next But please do old Bo songs, they are super lyrical, songs like "I'm Bo Yo" "words words words" and anything from that time period 2009ish
Can't handle this is top tier. Bravery like nothing else, to not only admit to mental illness, but elaborate as to what he's feeling with such detail and almost makes you feel bad for watching it. It really humanizes him and makes you realize how he's actually feeling up there. It really ties in with "Put your hands up" from Inside. How he loves the attention, but pray for him because that fame is still mentally torturing him.
May I suggest Tim Minchin, if you're liking Bo's piano. He's a big influence on Bo's career. My top picks would be Confessions, Rock N' Roll Nerd and Thank You God, if you're not religious. If you wanna avoid copyright infringement, you can watch them on his official YT
Funny thing is this is Bo Burnham trying not to be offensive. His early stuff like The Perfect Woman and New Math was extremely offensive (he has a song in Inside addressing this).
@@lordofthemehmehs when they are offensive just for the sake of being offensive AND they broach certain topics they should apologize for it, full stop.

It makes me so happy to see you liking and interested in Bo's content. I've been a big fan of musical comedy ever since I was really young. My older cousin showed me Weird Al when I was in like 4th or 5th grade and fell in love with the genre ever since. Glad you're reacting to and checking out his work! Much love AOD
Im so happy that, this guy has the same amazement that I had when I hear his songs for the first time. Bo doesnt just make comedy, his songs have messages, big messages that give a sort of balance to the actual comedy side of it. I think Bo is a musical genius, his lyrics, the way he plays the piano, and the persona he puts up on stage while performing is really incredible.
Bo is a genius. He is so smart, musically talented. His contend addictive. I love it so much. You should react to his standup but do it in order, you don't get the whole picture if you don't see it in order. Part for part is awesome, but in order it's pure art.
Without making any comparisons between the two, the one he reminds me of is Tim Minchin in that they combine sharp wits with great musical proficiency. If you haven't heard Tim Minchin I would recommend checking out "Prejudice" by him. A personal favorite is F# though, but it can be painful to listen to for some people. A more recent one is I'll Take Lonely Tonight.
Totally agree with watching Bo's specials in chronological order - it makes "Inside" even more devastating. As part of that timeline, I'd include the first episode of season 2 of "The Green Room with Paul Provenza" from 2011 (there's at least one person who has uploaded the full episode, it was originally on Showtime). Bo didn't come up through standup the way the others did, starting first as a YT content creator, but he totally and completely holds his own against comedy veterans Ray Romano, Gary Shandling, Marc Maron, and Judd Apatow. Total sausage fest for the lack of women, but still an impressive episode.
I started watching Bo Burnham about 10 years ago. He is very musically inclined. When he was younger he really enjoyed doing musical comedy. Where he would make songs that are comedic and also have a very good amount of puns. He is an amazing and talented person.
I will ALWAYS click for Bo. So happy you’re gonna get more into him! I like to watch this particular one in 4D. Which I can only do because I have the exact same projector hah
i want to see you put up a reaction video AFTER watching the whole thing because i've watched it 3 times now and i'm still not sure what exactly it made me feel. As someone with depression and anxiety this special hit me in a certain way and it's a masterpiece that should win all kinds of awards this year.
I love watching someone experience Bo for the first time. He’ll blow your mind. It’s also super interesting watching you essentially be introduced backwards. If you want to continue to react to his work in reverse I’d go with “are you happy” and then “nerds” then “ from gods perspective “ and WAY WAY back to “ bo yo”
Ohhhh this will be a fun trip!!! You gotta react to more of his stuff ❤️ i love people finding Bo! Things I would recommend watching from him: -) Rant -) Art is dead -) Perspective of god
You have such a sweet laugh haha. Loved the video! It's always cool to see people watching Bo's work and hearing their thoughts on it! There's so many ways to interpret and listen to the lyrics :)
You should react to his "Kanye Rant" song from the end of his stand up special Make Happy. Make Happy was the last tour he did before a 5 year break from performing. Inside is the first special he's done since then and you def need to watch the whole special. This song will be even more breathtaking the in the context of the special.
It starts off really light and a bit cheery, and just slowly becomes a little more devious and sinister as the camera slowly pans in on him. Then the camera angles start changing and he start listing all of the bad things you can do. When he slows down, one of the lines that gets me is: "The time is now, your insides out, honey how you grew". "your insides out": people share their most intimate personal feelings on the internet, and large corporations can see all of it. "honey how you grew": gen z (and now gen alpha) grew up with the internet; they've always had it. These massive corporations on the internet have literally watched these people grow up. From their parents posting pictures of them most of their lives, to getting their 1st phone at a super young age (using the I-pad at 2 like Bo says in the song) and sharing everything on social media. Then he says: "it was always the plan, to put the world in your hand". Your phone is connected to the internet, and a "world" of info is on the internet. Now people cant put it down. Then, the evil laugh comes in and you can see just how "evil" it really is.
YEAH DUDE! Welcome to the Bo Journey, I'm just about his age and remember watching his first youtube stuff when I was in highschool. The whole special 'Inside' was definitely super relatable for me. He's the master of mixing comedy, music, and hard hitting topics into the same song.
As someone once said.. “The Internet is the best and worst thing humanity has every created.” For example, the parents of this generation don’t understand why their kids are so absorbed in their devices because they didn’t grow up with that so therefore they don’t know how to help. They try to use the things that their parents taught them, but it doesn’t work because it’s not the same thing, it’s a completely different issue. Which leads to conflict and parents guilt tripping their kids and pointing out they’re addicted to their devices and making them feel like they’re the only people in the world with this issue. We are the very first generation with the particular problem and are the first of many more to come. *And that personally scares me.*
Glad you like him man, would love to see you react to more of his stuff! Definitely watch "Inside" , his best work I think. His Kayne- "Can't Handle This" is really good.

If you liked Bo's savage humor and balls to the wall attitude here, I have one recommendation for you: "Art is Dead" - the Green Room version. The song is still good if it's not the Green Room, but the Green Room version takes it up several notches. It's incredible. I won't spoil it for you, you have to see it though.
If you do instrumental stuff, Trifonic is really interesting. His Ninth Wave album is crazy. I would love a reaction to the title track, because he does some stuff in that song (and many of his others) that I've never heard before, and really inspired some of the stuff I do in my music. He likes to cut up samples in a really precise, but chaotic-feeling way.

Oooooh, this is so true! The kind of serious/humorous/grotesque mix is so very interesting from them both :D
I do get a "we'll all go together when we go" vibe from this.
I love encountering people who've never heard of Bo and jump right into the deep end with Inside...
It's akin to watching people think they can master a sport in a weekend. I've been following Bo for a decade and a half, so the shock value is sort of expected at this point.
That predatory and disdainful "you..." gives me chills every time
Just wanted to add that the line "your time is now, your inside's out" is a callback to the theme "Inside", but used in a different way.
That’s such a cool analysis! I’ve never noticed that before 😳
To be fair a lot of these reactions are watching the songs without the context of the entire musical, if you do then it becomes a lot more apparent.
"Oh Bo" is a good example of Burnham doing hip hop.
Words words words
You should react to “Words Words Words”. It is a song that is just a bunch on plays on words and double entendres
Yeah for sure! Cliff is really good at dissecting double entendres, would love to see him go crazy over a song full of them!
I’ve loved this guy since he first came on UA-cam. He’s such a genius!! Never get tired of his music.
Y'know when there is like the right amount of talking in between scenes? Yeah you have that. I genuinely enjoyed this. Thank you. Yup I subscribed and hit the bell. Also, can't wait for you to react to more of Bo.
Thisss. I don't mind pauses at all but some reactors talk waaay too long. This guy had it exactly right
He didn’t speak too long in between, which is great, but he did paused a lot just to :O and in between jokes interrupting the flow of them.
"That was the fastest 4 minutes of my life" It was 9 😂
It felt like 2 minutes
That’s what she said!
Can't handle this right now HAS to be next
But please do old Bo songs, they are super lyrical, songs like "I'm Bo Yo" "words words words" and anything from that time period 2009ish
Your reactions make it even better man got me in tears
This masterpiece of a song was released exactly one year! I love Bo and he deserves all the likes he got!
OMG, yes Tim is hillarious.
Prejudice is my favorite from Tim.
Inflatable You!!!!! I can’t listen to Welcome to the Internet without thinking of Tim Minchin’s song
Funny thing is this is Bo Burnham trying not to be offensive. His early stuff like The Perfect Woman and New Math was extremely offensive (he has a song in Inside addressing this).
Thankfully he's apologised and learned from it. I'm really happy to see him be an overall great person in interviews.
Offensive humor is fine. Not liking it is fine. Wanting people to apologize for their offensive humor is not.
@@lordofthemehmehs when they are offensive just for the sake of being offensive AND they broach certain topics they should apologize for it, full stop.
@@Azraeladonis488 if it's a joke it's a joke. FulL sToP.!!1111 jokes shouldn't be taken seriously because they are jokes. Humor is subjective
@@lordofthemehmehs I hear that, but what actual bigots tend to do is just use the disguise of “jokes” to hide their genuine bigotry so it gets kinda hard to differentiate yknow
I’d watch his earlier Netflix specials before watching Inside.
This special has been nominated for 6 emmys.
2:46 just wanted to say: I appreciate another Squirt enjoyer. Great drink
TRUE
In this day and age, this song is so thought provoking. And as you think about it you realize just how terrifying it is too.
i want to see you put up a reaction video AFTER watching the whole thing because i've watched it 3 times now and i'm still not sure what exactly it made me feel.
Things I would recommend watching from him:
-) Rant
-) Art is dead
-) Perspective of god
Good list
Add to that: Sad, How The World Works, Andy the Frog, Country Song, or Kill Yourself
Him: “Do NOT skip my intro!”
Me: 😳🙌🏻 Ok! Ok sir! I won’t!
“tweet a racial slur”
“😦”
Been a fan of Bo's for over ten years now. I love seeing someone discover his genius for the first time
2 years still hits hard
You have such a sweet laugh haha. Loved the video! It's always cool to see people watching Bo's work and hearing their thoughts on it! There's so many ways to interpret and listen to the lyrics :)
his Inside movie is basically - The Internet: The Movie. Without kittens once! That is a big feat in my book.
You should react to his "Kanye Rant" song from the end of his stand up special Make Happy. Make Happy was the last tour he did before a 5 year break from performing. Inside is the first special he's done since then and you def need to watch the whole special. This song will be even more breathtaking the in the context of the special.
Bo's entire special is a roller coaster and astounding to watch and hear
I'm going to watch every Bo Burnham reaction video you do and enjoying every one. mad support for you.
That special is a damn masterpiece
"I need go watch this guys specials". Make sure you have your therapist on speed dial for Inside.
i already suggested it in the other bo burnham video but his song "rant" is one pf his best songs and deserves more attention.
YEAH DUDE! Welcome to the Bo Journey, I'm just about his age and remember watching his first youtube stuff when I was in highschool. The whole special 'Inside' was definitely super relatable for me. He's the master of mixing comedy, music, and hard hitting topics into the same song.
As someone once said..
“The Internet is the best and worst thing humanity has every created.”
For example, the parents of this generation don’t understand why their kids are so absorbed in their devices because they didn’t grow up with that so therefore they don’t know how to help.
THE EYES, THE EYES THIS GUY GETS WITH ALMOST EACH LINE ARE AMAZING
I love watching people discover him.
Dude! Watch Inside and then make a video essay about it. I’d watch that in a heartbeat. Great reaction video!
Glad you like him man, would love to see you react to more of his stuff! Definitely watch "Inside" , his best work I think. His Kayne- "Can't Handle This" is really good.
Great reaction, it's always awesome seeing people discover Bo for the first time! :D I'm sure people will recommend a ton of songs/skits of his. I'd definitely go with Can't Handle This, Left Brain Right Brain, From God's Perspective, Art Is Dead, and Rant (and all of his other songs, of course).
His reaction to being overwhelmed was exactly the point. Love it.
I will NEVER get tired of seeing someone genuinely watch this for the first time.
The Internet is the Disney villain that already won ... and this is its song.
Man I love Bo's mind and the content he produces!!
8:52 "that's what she said"
- Michael Scott
This comedy special is probably my favorite special I’ve seen.
People are really out here having entire slumber parties on Bo.
"fight for civil rights or tweet a racial slur" musical truths wrap around you, fill you with determination.
You need to do "How the World Works". It's incredibly dissonant with how upbeat it sounds and how dark it actually is.
my second video watching you! (first was "all eyes on me") I love the way you handle these reaction videos. all of your input is to the point and you rewind (!!!) 5 sec after you pause to talk. makes everything go so much smoother and feels like youre really getting everything you can out of your first listen. defn hit that subscribe and am going to watch more burnham reactions. this netflix special is really the best performing art piece in 2021 imo and theres nothing else that comes close. love your input to all of this! hope you continue to see success :)
Can't handle this right now is absolutely stunning especially in the context of his life at the time. After that show he took a long hiatus from performing for his mental health and the song is something else.
I found this channel with your Bo Burnham reactions, but running through your playlists, you have done not only the NF journey, but YOU HAVE WATCHED KNOX'S MUSIC?! omg, this channel is my next obsession
The top songs you should react to from Bo is imo:
art is dead
we think we know you
can't handle this
He reminds me so much of Victor Borge! I've been a fan for some time.
You have gotta check out "5 Years" . I'm still rolling around on the floor laughing!!!
Could you react to Kanye Rant (Can't Handle This Right Now) by Bo
It is INCREDIBLE
this dude was the king of the internet and is still the beating heart god of it
Just subbed man. I dig something about your energy. Real and genuine. Keep doing you’re thing man. Best of luck.
If you liked Bo's savage humor and balls to the wall attitude here, I have one recommendation for you:
"Art is Dead" - the Green Room version.
The song is still good if it's not the Green Room, but the Green Room version takes it up several notches. It's incredible. I won't spoil it for you, you have to see it though.
Great reaction dude. Top notch awareness.
love to see ppl discover Bo, been his cheerleader for 10yrs.
Bo is amazing. The song hits different if you watch it all at once though. you really should.
THIS is the reaction I needed! MIne was very similar the first time I watched this.
"See, this is where I say "Oh no." "
*litterally 15 seconds later*
"Oh no..."
My kid told me to watch the inside special. I never even heard of Bo. Before the 90 minute special was over, I turned to her and said, this guy is a genius! Never seen anything like it. Genius
He’s also a fairly OG youtuber
would love to see you react to a few different songs from each special!!! thatd be a cool video :)
bro you gotta watch everything! He truly is a genius! :D
