I know you've just started reacting to Dimash. I've watched all Dimash videos, every single of it, then I stumbled upon Hua Chenyu. I didn't realize I've been watching this artist more and more that I could no longer watch any Dimash vids. Dimash is all about singing, his ability in singing is unmatched, but Hua Chenyu is all about music and artistry. It's a whole new level when it comes to him. You can also watch some vids in eng sub where he shares his thoughts and philosophy about what music is and up to now his words have retained in my head, kept thinking of it. Whenever he's performing you know are drawn to him. Please react more to his performances in Singer 2018 like Child, Ordinary Path, etc.thanks.
Hua Chenyu seems like more of a composer, producer, singer and artist all mixed together. Dimash seems to be more a vocalist, arranger, performer and musician. Both amazing but as you say Hua seems to have a very different approach. I love what Hua Chenyu does. Thanks I look forward to seeing them :)
Lucky for us, we don't have to choose between one artist or another. I also feel that comparing the two is not a fair comparison. Yes, Hua Chenyu seems to be "ahead of the game" when it comes to fan interaction, etc... but I feel that we need to remember that Hua Chenyu has been at this longer than Dimash (since 2013 Superboy). He (HuaHua) also sings in his native language to his home country except for the rare exceptions when he does an English cover. Dimash is singing in many different languages in many different countries around the world. The language barrier can make things much more difficult, yet, Dimash still manages to make you feel what he's singing. Not trying to start a "who's better" debate because I am both a Martian and a Dear. I just wanted to point out my perspective. They are both exceptional.
@@ptxdearpearsDQ doesn't Give Me Love from the Arnau concert just make you melt? All those countries singing along/ back to him in Kazakh? The significance of it just gets to me every time. ❤
There's no comparison. Their both amazing singers. Dimash and his world don't collide at all. Dimash is spectacular! Hua is a great unique singer. We shouldn't compare.
@@shannonboyd4506totally agree. Two completely different styles of singers are not comparable. Only songs of the same type can be compared. Hua Chenyu's style of music is too broad. He can control most of the styles. And Dimash is a song that can sing multiple languages, and the range is very high. All are worthy of appreciation.
Hello. I have known Hua for a month now and I am totally in love with him. I am 48 years old and do not usually listen to rock or rap music, but fell deeply in love with Hua's madorap and rock music. I suppose the reason why I loved it is that besides the fact that the lyrics of his songs are so deep and profound, his voice and composing skills are exquisite. He is a mastermind when it comes to composing or even rearranging some songs like some that we have seen on Singer 2018. His voice is so powerful and enters the heart and mind. It captivates you and you feel that you need to listen more. I don't think Caleb meant that Hua was a psycho, but it is worth saying here that if you really want to love Hua more, get to know his background a bit more. This young man has been through a lot growing up. His parents divorced when he was 2 years if I'm not mistaken and he lived practically alone. He mentioned in one of his interviews that his dad was busy all the time which made Hua stay alone for long periods of time. Bottom line here , Hua is one of a kind and so is Dimash who I am in love with as well. I have been to his concert in Astana and watching him perform on stage is breathtaking. However, comparing Hua and Dimash doesn't do them both justice. They are different and each has his own style. Watch this video. He rearranged all the songs ua-cam.com/video/yUZFnLLM40o/v-deo.html
Every song Hua did on the Singer was Autobiographical of his life progression. This song expressed the pain he went through as a child. His parents divorced when he was 3yrs. old. He was then raised by his father who was a weathy business man often away on trips. Hua had a very isolated and lonely childhood. He had little contact with the world. Hua's father said Hua was diagnosed as autistic . I'm autistic and can say with confidence Hua is an extremely high functioning autistic even genius. Hua focused his genius on music. Socially Hua had difficulty. The hardest part of autism is social interaction. But Hua has been appearing on numerous tv shows as a mentor to young artist. He' s a born teacher. Hua is so sweet on camera. People adore him.
Hua Chenyu is the best storyteller using music, he oftens said composing is more important for him than singing. He oftens use the melody to create an atmosphere and let you experience music. Thank you for another great reaction and analysis, looking forward to "Dad, I'm home", in fact, every of his song is so different.
Thanks for that reassuring comment that when he was screaming that he wasn't using his throat but falsetto. Every time I watched this video and imagined him singing this in concert, I worried he was going to ruin his throat permanently. Whew! What a relief. Thanks.
Hua was describing himself, his own struggle in the past with this song. He was so alone in his childhood (his parents divorced, he lived with his father who had always been busy and had no time to spend with him). He felt that if he couldn't get love from his parents then he couldn't get love from anyone. Thus he had been suffering for a long time: on one hand he yearned to be loved, on the other hand he repelled it. He was in deep despair at the time. Fortunately, he got out thanks to the care he received later. He said he kinda felt pain revising this performance since it reminded him of the past experience.
Hua Chenyu is a real genius. His music has no boundaries. Amazing innovation. His emotional expression is so strong and unique. Every performances are different and incredible. He is my favorite singer. Looking forward to your next reaction coming soon.
Thank you Caleb for reacting to Hua Hua's song. Another great artist. He's a composer too. He once said that he is not the kind of music artist that would conform to any music trend. ❤️
Hua Chenyu said that this was one of the most difficult songs that he sang because he had to resurrect his own childhood feelings of loneliness. The song itself is about the dueling feelings about the intense desire to be loved and the fear and vulnerability of opening yourself to be loved. You are correct. Hua Chenyu is always concerned about portraying the emotions of a song correctly. He composes music in the dark, often surrounded by just candlelight. One song, he recorded his composition on his phone, but found when he was unable to duplicate the emotion when he sang it later. Rather than trying to sing it at his Mars concert, he played the lyricless demo for the Martians at his concert and just sat still on his piano bench and listened with the audience. He later entitled the demo "Candle". The man is a perfectionist.
@@CalebColesMusic We all love you so much too, we want you to be the best composer of all time !!! like Mozart and Bach. Bach once said that all his song is for God
So bizarre yet brilliant. He is such a gifted performer. I appreciate the idea he wants everyone to love him, but no one to know him. I'm sure it's a fear that once they know him, they will take away their love. That thought can haunt you through your entire life. --
Caleb Coles Music : Hello Caleb: American vocalists have fallen off the musical map. Best vocalists now are from Korea , China, UK Philippines, Indonesia, Russia... Sad... I’m 74 and I can remember when American vocalists from the 40s thru 60s were Primo Uno singing ballads. not any more. America is still good at Metal, Rap, Harmony groups, Country, ... but that’s it. Just wondering: Were you able to youtube “Rafi” singing “ love of my life?” Please let me know. Thanks, A loyal subscriber, Al
@Divine Saint Oh I forgot to tell u, I stopped listen to American music 10 years ago, when I bought a t-shirt at a store. When I unpacked the t-shirt at home and check washing tag, it does not have washing instructions. All it has was a devil and words saying all music is mine. I freaked out and threw it into trash bin. Then I stopped listen to music from American singers.
Many thanks for the reaction and analysis. You are right. This whole performance is centered on the dichotomy the fake monk portrays and this shows everywhere. From the dual lighting covering each side of his body to the way his two "inner" voices intermingle in the vocals, and from the composition of the arrangement itself to the way he acts on stage, closing one side of his face with his hand at a time. This song conveys the mixed emotions of wanting to be loved but at the same time being afraid to be loved, and Hua did an absolutely spectacular job bringing this out. Do more from him. You will find out that each and every performance is distinctly different and fresh in a new way. HuaHua is a complete artist, and his voice is - according to him - simply one of the tools he employs to tell a story and bring out the essence of each song he covers. You will see a new side of him in each and every one. Cheers..C:
Oh, I've seen many well-said comments here already, so I'll not repeat these words but give some other information. His signature long high note is a C, and he can hold a B for 16s. He is still improving his techniques, as a proof, he belts F#5 and G5 frequently these days in his new song "A New World". According to what he showed to us, his range is G2-B5 (he can belt to G#5, but rarely use it since he thinks that's unnecessary for his music). He doesn't show-off his range in music but uses his vocal as a flexible instrument to create the feelings he wants. Really like your detailed reaction, you have the taste! No matter which Hua's song is the next, I am happy to see. Thanks!
Great comment! I love that he doesn't feel the need to show off his range but uses it like an instrument when needed. It is also cool that if he wants he has a very impressive set of skills with his voice :)
💗 Hua Chenya have said this about "Fake Monk" - performance: "This song conveys the mixed emotions of wanting to be loved but at the same time afraid to be loved; maybe because I use to belong to this group of people so I know the feeling first hand. But because I received a lot of love I stepped out of my shell so I hope to use this performance to let the audience know there are people like that around us and they should try to love them." Hua Chenyu is really artistic and unique in his music expression! Seriously love that he is exactly different and have the courage to express himself in his music ...as he finds real and autenthic for him! I remember reading him saying something about always having a message in his performances! Reading about him really sets a lot of his music in perspective and understanding for what he creates! Be ready for napkins when or if you listen to "Dad, I am home". It is again a unique piece of performance! 💗
It's like a scary movie not a lot of artist can gvie that experience and surtanaly not in a singer show i like a lot his creativity and his unique style
You are the only reactor I've heard use the word "beautiful" to describe HuaHua's voice during this song. And I couldn't agree with you more. This is my absolute favorite performance of his. He's the only person in the world who can scream gorgeously. Such an amazing talent. Love this guy. And loved your reaction. Thank you.
So interesting to hear the story of this fake monk as you explained it. Yes, it's an eerie song. It's a song of madness and Hua Chenyou illustrated it with his unusual music, great vocals and "sound effects". So young, yet so talented!
What in the HELL was that?? I love this little Peter Pan of an Oriental. Such an amazing performance! I absolutely adore this little guy. He is so creative, so stunning. I love the madness he portrays and trust me, he is dead on with the madness. You will have to trust me on this, as I have spent time in mental hospitals 6 times, due to bi-polar disorder and the insanity that comes with it when medication doesn't work correctly. This piece is truly a vision.
i really love that you are not only commenting on his vocals but also trying to read and connect to the stories behind. that brings you to a higher and more professional level than a lot of other similar youtubers doing reactions to non-english songs.
Like your reaction: ) Hua ChengYu the great story teller, with his super amazing performance , we love him, follow him, feeling his heart break , his smoothing, his healing .....great movie picture !
Great analisys and reaction! Every Hua song is a different feeling. I would suggest, before "Dad I'm home" ( which is another theatrical one), "Child" would be more "normal" but still a great song with beatiful interpretation and harmony. Love from Brazil
This is a piece of art, isn't it? Hua Chenyu's performance is incredible and awesome and I have never seen any singer performing in such unique way! I am impressed by your analysis of his performance too, you can read him, that's great!!! In fact yesterday I was upset by another reaction video of Hua Chenyu; that guy commented that Hua Chenyu lip-synched, that's so wronged!!! Hua respects his music and he NEVER do any lip-synched in his live performance even if he is not feeling well or having fever, he still insisted to sing LIVE! Thank you so much to react his performance and looking forward to see more from you! :)
so many good singers coming out of China in particular at the moment - i came across him when i found Dimash on the Singer series - Huo Zun is another one =- cheers!
I have to let you know you have done the best breakdown analysis of this performance. Its not just about reviewing his vocal ability but you have done such a great job in noticing how he wanted this song to sound overall. Hua's talent is not just in his amazing vocal ability but the way he takes his listeners on a journey. Ur interpretation is wonderful!
As I keep calling him, my box of surprises. Before I'm doing my comment I read some of the others and I saw that there was already a comment about his childhood and the fears and the way he felt that if anybody liked him and payed him attention he would recoil because he felt that he didn't deserve it. That's what it make immerse in music and composition. As always your comments were spot on, mainly in the part that he is one of the singers that know how exactly he wants the song to sound . First he start playing and as he said in one of his interviews he started singing because he really wanted to hear the full song. He is a brilliant composer and above all a performer. Sorry if I'm bothering you 😧 . Loved your reaction💞💞
Thanks for another Hua Chenyu reaction Caleb!!! Always interesting to see another singers raection to a great performance and yours are always great!! I wish we could get a Dimash reaction to your SOS performance!!
Ty for this reaction, maybe my favorite performance from Hua Chenyu the complete scene takes me to another place and each time gives me different feelings. I really love "The Singer" show from China, started watching because of Jessie J and found Dimash Hua Chenyu, Tenggri, Henry Huo and so many others great artist
@Divine Saint I was looking for something similar, maybe one day. But it would be really hard to make something close to the quality of production and stage elaboration of the chinese show
Gosh, you make sure that music can convey complex emotion again, I watched his pre-interview of this performance. He addressed the center of this song of longing for love but fear for intimacy, distortion and redemption. When I see you exactly felt that and spoke out, I'm overwhelmed, cos this topic is literally quite abstract from the performance. Great job.!!
I literally subscribed to see you react to this performance after watching your previous reaction to Hua Chenyu, thank you for checking it out! It's really nice to see how you actually pay atention to both the technical aspects of his singing and the lyrics and message as well. Can't wait to see your other reactions and I hope you have a great day!
Yeah buddy!!! Huahua's versatility is unmatched!!! I love how he is able to make people feel emotionally connected to his artistry. BTW I love your analysis of him singing and the song itself!!! Subbed!!! YESSSSSSSSSSS Dad I'm Home.... embrace the emotions!!! Backstory is he's on a show where he has 24 hours to rearrange a song... Dad I'm Home is originally a rap song by artist Jay Chou... ;)
I’m amazed as to how accurate you are in your descriptions of this performance, about the ‘fake monk’ whose wanted to be loved but doesn’t want to be loved. This performance, and the way he arranged this, is based on his childhood experiences. He was a lonely child, left alone at home. His parents was divorced, he got to live with his dad but his dad never onced glanced his side. He tried to do well at school so his father would praise him. He never did. To the point that he locked himself in his room, creating dark lyricless music, music that are similar to how he re-arranged Fake Monk. For years, he craved for love, but also refused it of how afraid he was of getting hurt. Even worse, his father got married and has a daughter which he loved dearly which made huahua felt more pressured. For though huahua loves his sister so much. In this performance, Hua is portraying his younger self. Hoping to address the lyrics and messages to the audience to never neglect your loved ones. I enjoy your reaction and opinions a lot, please do Hua Chenyu - Child at Singer 2018 next! His vocal range is soooooo amazing!
He is such a performer! I love this! He has such control, it's great. You had a really good analysis of the song too, the madness that infects people, seemingly calm on the surface but underneath a roiling mass of contradictions, I look forward to 'Dad, I'm Home', another great performance. Also try 'Heaven' by Tengri, from the same competition, a lovely song but definitely watch with eng subs.
@@CalebColesMusic Tengri is the original vocalist of the song many years ago, but Hua did a version a few years ago. It was cool for Hua to meet Tengri on The Singer, when Tengri sang this. So I recommend reacting to Tengri's version, which is utterly phenomenal, then Hua's version, which is ethereal.
Really appreciate your insight Caleb. I BELIEVE your my favorite due to your comittment to the stories and music/vocal composition...Fake Monk was my first experience of Hua Chenyu about a year ago and have 'experienced' it many times since. TY once again keep up the Good work 🤗😇
It feels to me that Asia is staging the PR field beautifully with its extraordinary talented singers and performers. That used to be England and the USA. And again Caleb, nobody else could react better and accurately with showing true emotions to this song by Hua Genyu vocally, technically, spiritual and the arts of the story expressed in music then you! There is so much behind the hidden and unknown Universe, as you said: A circular journey......I really love it!
In a word art, true art, the Iranians say: The art tree is rooted in the artist's sufferings, please, reaction to Dad, I'm home song by hua chenyu. tanks celab great reaction
Thank you for another Hua Chenyu reaction! He's very talented, and different. Dad, I'm Home is an example. For a very pretty song, I love the song Child.

This is not regular singing it’s like watching a story telling performance. He is beyond singing the melody type of singer. He knows how to project his voice and change his voice that mingle with the music so tightly. Love your reaction.
best reaction of fake monk I love how you accord the importance for the meaning of the lyrics and the emotions Hua puts in the song. If you are looking for more of China I recommend you Super Vocal contestants especially Zhou Shen who has an unique angelic voice Have a nice day
Super vocal has sent a groupe of their contestants to compete on I am a singer 2019, the groupe called Super Vocal Boys you may love them too and there's another groupe in Korea that is similar to Super Vocal Boys called, Forestella they covered Bohemian Rhapsody and in my opinion the cover is the best I've ever heard. Thank you for not interrupting this performance too much. This is primal. Madness. When you're trapped. Thank God for his musicality. It saved him. Music is another voice. And when you're talented as heck....how powerful that voice can be.
He's talking about being GOD on earth taking Human form thus the "Fake Monk". "I want everyone to notice me but not know who I am". The dichotomy of being a Deity and not wanting to be treated like one and the awesome responsibility for everyone and everything for all eternity. "Love me but don't hate me when I leave you" He does NOT want to feel "Pain and Regret" even though he will be the direct cause of it merely by virtue of who he is. He's created Humanity yet he can never have the "Human Experience". He wants to just enjoy all the Pleasure without any of the Pain and all of the Good and none of the Bad (the Ying & Yang of it) realizing he can't have one without the other! Ultimately he has no choice, thus the scream of anguish reverberating into the Universe because of who and what he is just does not allow it. So even GOD can't have it all !... he's Cursed and Denied Human Love! This is to be repeated for Infinity. Total Madness!!!! ... the very definition of crazy: always repeating the same thing over and over yet expecting a different result. So he starts his journey all over again. (This is just my take on it) Thanks for your commentaries and sharing your thoughts. - J
To provide a little more detail on Hua. His parents divorced when he was two and he lived with his father, who was an executive who not only worked long hours but was often away on business trips. His father would not speak a word of praise or affection to him the entire time he was growing up. When I say "not a word" I mean not a single word of affection ever. When young Hua would carry a toy gun into bed because he was so scared. He handed him off to nannies to raise and they only communicated when his father checked his grades or asked him if needed anything. Even harder, his father remarried and had a daughter that he doted on even while continuing to ignore Hua. Growing up under such deprivation Hua became anti-social, angry and depressed. He wanted love from someone, anyone, but for a long time despaired of ever receiving it and distanced himself from others to prevent them from rejecting him like he felt his parents had. It was only music, creating his own melodies and lyric-less songs for hours and days on end, that enabled him to cope. Hua found it painful to prepare for this performance because the memories of those darker times kept coming back. The producers did not want him to perform the song. Hua himself thought there was a real chance that the audience would not accept it but he wanted to share his struggle in hopes that people might reach out to others who were in need. At the end of the episode, Hua's performance took second place. There is a happy ending to this. His father opened up once when Hua was a teen to admit that he ignored him so that Hua would make his decisions for his life completely on his own, without worrying about what anyone else thought. When Hua came to fame as part of the Superboy competition his father appeared on an episode to support Hua. He admitted all of what I've written but said that he now wanted everyone to know that Hua was his pride. Hua said that hearing those words were far more important than winning the competition. He dedicated that night's performance of "I Will Always Love You" to his father, ending it with "Papa, I love you."
That is so intense. I'll have to watch through them and see that final song. Pretty sad his father did that. But I'm glad they found closure and moved on, even if he didn't deserve it, it is great of Hua to move past it :)
@@CalebColesMusic Hua's upbringing will either break you or make you. With Hua, it made him fiercely independent, devoted completely to his own vision. His Superboy performances are not as interesting to me as his later material and I find that I much prefer his Chinese songs over ones in English.
@@CalebColesMusic Link to Hua singing "I Will Always Love You". His father is in the brown shirt and is the featured guy at the beginning of the video. ua-cam.com/video/eopy38O3qJ4/v-deo.html
@@ubervocal8777 it seems to be the case with many artists - and songwriters in particular - that troubled past really makes them. 😊 Glad it didn't break him so we get to hear this music. I couldn't imagine him singing in English, I think I'd prefer Chinese.
That's it, circularity! Thanks Caleb for emphasizing that because circularity in general reflects something absurd which has no beginning and no end. It refers eternity, a very unusual and difficult subject for us as normal, simple human beings. Madness is the best way to deal with the circular rhythms around us, or absurdity in general; and theatre is the best outlet for madness and this ordeal if I should say. In a sense I see Hua as a great player performing his own drama of madness in this song. And you have made a great job in this reaction again. Thanks a lot :)
Hua's music, when I first hear a song, typically stuns me into silence, trying to process what I've heard. I am excited to see your reaction to Dad I'm Home, as well as Child. Lastly, you did a comparison video for Daybreak by Dimash for his two performances; hopefully you'll do a comparison for Tengri's Heaven, from Singer 2018, and then Hua's Heaven from a few years ago. You will absolutely love both versions, and I eagerly, but patiently, await your thoughts on both.
Your reaction is one of the best reactions of this song I've seen! It's great to see you not only analyze but also enjoy the whole work very well. Musicians having resonance to another is a beautiful thing.
if you can see the video with his interview just b4 this performance...he talks about his very sad and lonely childhood, which gave rise to this cover in his way.....these are the cries and screams of soul murder......
Incredible, unique!!!!!I think we all have been there ,in that moment when we look for something but we can't find it.It was awesome and loved your reaction too Caleb!!Please continue your Dimash journey🤗!!!
Do DAD I'M home ( every man listened to that song would want to be the greatest dad for sure !!!) Also do Idiot and Ordinary path ( then do some duets later like nanping bell ) Idiot is a George Orwell's 1984 book. It describe a society living in a glass house being monitored by people and eventually died It uses Baroque classical style in the beginning. Hua Chenyu music concept is that everything should be used to express "art". Vocal is just a small part of a "Musical instrument" so he advocate vocal not to have lyrics during certain stretch.
This is not a song. It's a complete show. Hua is extraordinary in that he doesn't sing what the audience wants to hear. He sings what he wants to say. He's not a typical commercial singer. This also tells of his great personality.
This is a story about his early background as a lonely child. Look up the story behind Fake Monk. It clarifies a lot. It is here on UA-cam somewhere. :-)
Your interpretation is great! Hua Chenyu is not only a popular pop singer, but also an artist. Or, he was a painter who painted with music. I can always see colorful pictures in his singing. AMAZING!! Please continue to react to his performance. Highly recommend" Bullfighting".❤
I think there is a version on the Hua Chenyu Eng subs channel with a pre show interview regarding the emotional intent of this song. Along with the other Hua Chenyu performances from this season, and Tengri's "Heaven", another person worth checking out on Singer 2018 is KZ Tandingan, whose cover of "Rolling In The Deep" is a good place to start. Dimash also did a unique guest performance of Lionel Richie's "Hello" on Singer 2018 .
If you do watch "Dad, I'm Home" next, please be sure to get a video with subtitles. This one really requires it. Also keep in mind, he did not write this, so it's not his story, but he makes you think it is because he can so immerse himself into any song.
Amazing I love your ability of explanation. Dad I'm home....be prepared to get emotional. Theres so many songs and unlike other artistes ALL his songs are fantastic theres not one you wont like!
This is also the second time I've listened to him, he's quite interesting isn't he? Before I thought he was just a pretty face making jokes on variety shows but he's an artist.
Chenyu is a great performer, a story teller like Dimash. I like his performances a much. By the way did you hear Tan Weiwei "Night in Ulaanbaatar", she´s great and the song is really good! Link: ua-cam.com/video/E9lGsEyNzMY/v-deo.html Thanks for reacting, Caleb.
there ya go :) (another of my fav #1-songs in my top 10 list of Hua i mentioned in my last comments, hehe) this song.. now and today is called "The fake Monk/Fake Monk" but - it was at the very beginning an instrumental+song Hua called "a song without a name- or- a wordless song" (i remember this bcos i love this guys personallity and character as well as his outstanding talent since many years and i guess even since he first time appeard out of nothing in a talent show for the very first time back then + suprised not only ppl or me but also the jury of this show) i remember he nearly got kicked out even + didnt gone through lol bcos most of judges didnt understood him even or what he tried to do or sing or show with his music. (or why he chosen to do this and nothing else....) i already loved him for alone this fact back then - it was the very first thing he did what made me focus on him very much close and interested. (it was like i can see him. feel him.) hes so special.. he was still young back then - and - i also remember he was a very "shy"(tight-lipped better said - or even more better - he was interoverted person/soul) - he studied music + what you have seen in "nunchacks" (the traditional part) he got the edu of it in his time of studying music - it was a part of his edu.. + its rare used usually but i like his way of thinking when it comes to all that + music. So when he just finished his time in the University and was out + on the way back home kinda he by accident (luckily!) have seen this "audition thing" for this show and he thought: ah ok, why not..?------- i have nothing better to do - i reached my goal + finished so now lets go for fun to this auditions and see what would happen.... he did not planned anything or thought he would come so far, but im happy he was so brave (after all i know today about him + his childhood + situation at home, with parents + how fkn lonely he was been all this time) lonely, is the key word now to come back to this song, which after years he found "his words" + arranged it with this song, and call it today "the fake monk" + which tells the feeling he have had and how he felt back then... (its kinda "his song about him and what hes been through) he was a lot alone as kid and teen + his parents got divorced + he lived with dad but Dad worked too much + was not much at home with his son so he felt lonely alot + kept doing music because it was the only thing he could put his fear, anger, feelings, thoughts, etc into it. music was for him like a place to hide where he felt better + he could do this for days without eating or sleeping, when he was into it he forgot about time or days and did not gone out at all but composed and it was his way to bear with the pain inside or avoid to do "any other sad + bad things", for what iim really happy. the Hua you see today, is the Hua who learned with every step further + every song more he performed, that he is loved. (he couldnt handle this love + loved thing + he always thought he would be some one who never will be loved and was afraid about that too) But with every little step more + this show especially + the perofrmances - he got more and more open minded and felt loved, by the audiance and everyone who crossed his path of this music journey kinda.. (today he is so cool + can talk and all - u would not believe its the same person like years ago) whenever i see him + see him laughing or joking im really happy how it went for him :) now its not wordless song but it have an title :) but - in this auditions when he performed it - only by voice and his music - no one kinda really understood what he tried to do there (ONLY ONE person, in the jury. SHE got it right+knew (just like me did) EXACTLY what hes feeling and why or what hes trying to do or say through his voice+music) thanks to her, he passed+gone further (i use to say it until today lol bcos really, the other judges kinda nearly said NOPE. go home boy.) SHE, is been so amazing+SHE, directly told him into his face what she thinks he feel or think or why he do this and (what made him so speachless+excited in same time) - and she also asked him if he would like to meet her out of the show lol (his reaction to this was so sweet) this singer, and jury member - she really understood + she also asked him questions what proved that she dont just say it - but that she truly really understood him - what made it all really awesome + it made me happy for him. later - every single one who thought first like "wth is this, whos that weirdo + is he insame or what?" hahaah , really everyone + the jury too - later , i bet they was happy that they did not let him go home but kept him . (he also sang a song with this girl from jury + she also asked him out + to meet - out of this show + they did so) in that audition this jury girl really made him being suprised + he asked her after she said i get what you feel like: how? how you can understand this? (bcos even he couldnt put it in words i guess) she only told him: "BECAUSE i was been LIKE YOU." (i have gone through same thing, so i know) and bcos she exactly hit right on the point + kinda directly "hit the bulls eye" he felt so much better, u could really see it in his face expression it kinda made him happy that there was ONE, who really seen "through himi" and understood ... i really need to find this audition thing to show you - °!!° - so , dear Caleb... i really love your reactions on Huas music + when i found the two videos (the duet with the jury girl + the audition) i will be back here and post it for you. I hope you will see it + my comment lol 😂 😂 + sorry for killllllling you with long text spam here but i really thought : omgosh, this must be said now haha 😂 😂
A new subscriber here! I was introduced to Hua Chenyu a year ago - along with Dimash- by another Reactor, TraENT, who did rather suddenly and unexpectedly several months ago. He was also a musician. Although this is my first time seeing you, I was moved enough to subscribe straight away! Nicely done! Your insight was spot on! So much so that it was almost as haunting as this performance was! I look forward to hearing more from you in the future!
Hi Caleb, Andy Davis made a reaction in February the 3rd (or 2nd). There you can read and hear Hua Chenyu's story - he speaks about his childhood when he was lonely, didn't get any attention, care and love. That is the background of this song, which is quite different from the original one. Anyway, you felt it perfectly. Loved your comments, as always . Happy New Year to you and your family, Lili from Hungary
I really like your analysis on these reactions. Mostly when I watch music reactions (mostly Dimash ofcourse :) ) you usually hear the music aspect and not the lyrics or storytelling aspect. Like the duality you spoke of resonates with the the primary colors shining on Hua: Purple and Blue and he really has interesting songs. And this is from a guy who never listens to Chinese music. Thank you again Caleb
ALL GOOD STILL YOUNG HIS VOICE WILL CHANGE WHEN HE START SINGING MORE SONG (SOOTHING VOICE ...I THINK ?/ . VERY GOOD LIKE HIM A LOT --MY NO 1 IS TERRY LIN
He rearranged all the songs
ua-cam.com/video/yUZFnLLM40o/v-deo.html
Hua Hua even said he was so scared to sleep alone at night that he would put his superhero toys around his and sleep with his toy gun.
Thanks for sharing - he clearly is a very unique personality and an incredible gift :)
Hua Chenyu is the best storyteller using music, he oftens said composing is more important for him than singing. He oftens use the melody to create an atmosphere and let you experience music. Thank you for another great reaction and analysis, looking forward to "Dad, I'm home", in fact, every of his song is so different.
Well put completely agree.
That makes a lot of sense as to how he was able to portray this song the way he did. Thanks for sharing :)
Hua Chenyu is a real genius. His music has no boundaries. Amazing innovation. His emotional expression is so strong and unique. Every performances are different and incredible. He is my favorite singer. Looking forward to your next reaction coming soon.
Agreed! Thanks.
Here's the link to Candle for your listening pleasure.

So bizarre yet brilliant. He is such a gifted performer. I appreciate the idea he wants everyone to love him, but no one to know him. I'm sure it's a fear that once they know him, they will take away their love. That thought can haunt you through your entire life. --

Caleb Coles Music :
Hello Caleb:
American vocalists have fallen off the musical map.
Just wondering:
Were you able to youtube “Rafi” singing “ love of my life?” Please let me know.
Thanks,

@@alfogel3298 American film and American music has fallen because lots of them worship devil. Its open secret. google for Jeffrey Epstein recent news.

Cheers..C:
You articulated that so well! I really do look forward to seeing more from him, he seems like a bad of surprises with each song.
Thanks!
Love your comment
Great comment! I love that he doesn't feel the need to show off his range but uses it like an instrument when needed. It is also cool that if he wants he has a very impressive set of skills with his voice :)
💗 Hua Chenya have said this about "Fake Monk" - performance: "This song conveys the mixed emotions of wanting to be loved but at the same time afraid to be loved; maybe because I use to belong to this group of people so I know the feeling first hand. But because I received a lot of love I stepped out of my shell so I hope to use this performance to let the audience know there are people like that around us and they should try to love them."
Hua Chenyu is really artistic and unique in his music expression!
He is very talented. I honestly can't wait to hear more, I have to be patient.
It is amazingly creative isn't it? :)
i really love that you are not only commenting on his vocals but also trying to read and connect to the stories behind. that brings you to a higher and more professional level than a lot of other similar youtubers doing reactions to non-english songs.

Hua ChengYu the great story teller, with his super amazing performance , we love him, follow him, feeling his heart break , his smoothing, his healing .....great movie picture !

Glad you enjoyed the video. He is incredible he definitely was not lip syncing here.

Thanks!

It is a great show.
Thanks, I'm glad I didn't get the point wrong :)
ABSOLUTELY AMAZING😵
HUA CHENYU IS A GENIUS!!!

Dad I'm Home is originally a rap song by artist Jay Chou... ;)
Thanks, Can't wait to see it :)
Thanks I will do :)
@@CalebColesMusic Tengri is the original vocalist of the song many years ago, but Hua did a version a few years ago. It was cool for Hua to meet Tengri on The Singer, when Tengri sang this. Thank you for not interrupting this performance too much. This is primal. Madness. When you're trapped. Thank God for his musicality. It saved him. Music is another voice. And when you're talented as heck....how powerful that voice can be.
I’m home, Dad. Is the saddest song ever, about domestic violence. Very moving.
That is a really interesting take on it! I can see that interpretation. :)
Great reaction, thank you!!!
Here is a short interview with Hua regarding the performance bad link - but now fixed: ua-cam.com/video/txVJPrWYetg/v-deo.html

Very interesting point!! That's very intense to think about :)
Great Idea, I think I might do that :)
I’m still waiting on Nanping Evening Bells
Incredible, unique!!!!!I think we all have been there ,in that moment when we look for something but we can't find it.It was awesome and loved your reaction too Caleb!!Please continue your Dimash journey🤗!!!
Thanks i will :)
Do DAD I'M home ( every man listened to that song would want to be the greatest dad for sure !!!)
Also do Idiot and Ordinary path ( then do some duets later like nanping bell )
Idiot is a George Orwell's 1984 book. It describe a society living in a glass house being monitored by people and eventually died
It uses Baroque classical style in the beginning.
Hua Chenyu music concept is that everything should be used to express "art". Vocal is just a small part of a "Musical instrument" so he advocate vocal not to have lyrics during certain stretch.
Can't wait til I get to them :) they sound very interesting.
Great singer actor and song. Great react Caleb
This performance is a masterpiece! Chills, all over!
Chenyu Hua is so amazing. I love that song.
Your interpretation is great! Hua Chenyu is not only a popular pop singer, but also an artist. Or, he was a painter who painted with music. I can always see colorful pictures in his singing. AMAZING!!
Please continue to react to his performance. Highly recommend" Bullfighting".❤
:)
Thanks - sounds like the 2018 singer was something special :)
Thank you for listening to our precious boy. I love your analysis. Please react to his Dear Friend
If you do watch "Dad, I'm Home" next, please be sure to get a video with subtitles. This one really requires it. Also keep in mind, he did not write this, so it's not his story, but he makes you think it is because he can so immerse himself into any song.
it was originally a rap song and he had 24 hrs to re-arrange it
Thanks I will!
Hey man please check out hua Chenyu “ordinary path” it’s a nice one
"Ordinary Path" and "Mountain and Sea (Wayfarer)" are my favorites. I consider them to be sister songs. If you love one, you will love the other.
Search his back story and why he feels a close connection to this song.
Hey Caleb I love hearing your analysis of the vocalist very informative, great insight . Be waiting for more.
Great reaction👍and the artist is awesome👏
Amazing I love your ability of explanation. Dad I'm home....be prepared to get emotional. Theres so many songs and unlike other artistes ALL his songs are fantastic theres not one you wont like!
loved your professional reaction, thank you so much, subscribed already...
Thanks :)
Hua es super talentoso !!!
Love your reactions! Thank you so much!!
The piano solo reminds me of the Intro of Hurricane by 30 seconds of mars.
This is also the second time I've listened to him, he's quite interesting isn't he? Before I thought he was just a pretty face making jokes on variety shows but he's an artist.
Yes he is quite an artist :)
Why did I still get chills when this is the thousandth time i’ve heard this song
I would highly recommend his Dad I'm home - a warning - it's a heartbreaking song but with an important message.
Great reaction. 👍👍 Thank you so much. ❤ More Hua Hua please 👩🚀👩🚀
Unique style....love it.
there ya go :)
(another of my fav #1-songs in my top 10 list of Hua i mentioned in my last comments, hehe)
this song.. now and today is called "The fake Monk/Fake Monk" but - it was at the very beginning an instrumental+song Hua called "a song without a name- or- a wordless song"
(i remember this bcos i love this guys personallity and character as well as his outstanding talent since many years and i guess even since he first time appeard out of nothing in a talent show for the very first time back then + suprised not only ppl or me but also the jury of this show)
i remember he nearly got kicked out even + didnt gone through lol bcos most of judges didnt understood him even or what he tried to do or sing or show with his music. (or why he chosen to do this and nothing else....)
i already loved him for alone this fact back then - it was the very first thing he did what made me focus on him very much close and interested.
So when he just finished his time in the University and was out + on the way back home kinda he by accident (luckily!) have seen this "audition thing" for this show and he thought:
ah ok, why not..?------- i have nothing better to do - i reached my goal + finished so now lets go for fun to this auditions and see what would happen....
he did not planned anything or thought he would come so far, but im happy he was so brave (after all i know today about him + his childhood + situation at home, with parents + how fkn lonely he was been all this time)
lonely, is the key word now to come back to this song, which after years he found "his words" + arranged it with this song, and call it today "the fake monk" + which tells the feeling he have had and how he felt back then...
(its kinda "his song about him and what hes been through)
he was a lot alone as kid and teen + his parents got divorced + he lived with dad but Dad worked too much + was not much at home with his son so he felt lonely alot + kept doing music because it was the only thing he could put his fear, anger, feelings, thoughts, etc into it. music was for him like a place to hide where he felt better + he could do this for days without eating or sleeping, when he was into it he forgot about time or days and did not gone out at all but composed and it was his way to bear with the pain inside or avoid to do "any other sad + bad things", for what iim really happy.
the Hua you see today, is the Hua who learned with every step further + every song more he performed, that he is loved. (he couldnt handle this love + loved thing + he always thought he would be some one who never will be loved and was afraid about that too) But with every little step more + this show especially + the perofrmances - he got more and more open minded and felt loved, by the audiance and everyone who crossed his path of this music journey kinda.. (today he is so cool + can talk and all - u would not believe its the same person like years ago)
whenever i see him + see him laughing or joking im really happy how it went for him :)
now its not wordless song but it have an title :)
but - in this auditions when he performed it - only by voice and his music - no one kinda really understood what he tried to do there (ONLY ONE person, in the jury. SHE got it right+knew (just like me did) EXACTLY what hes feeling and why or what hes trying to do or say through his voice+music)
thanks to her, he passed+gone further (i use to say it until today lol bcos really, the other judges kinda nearly said NOPE. go home boy.)
SHE, is been so amazing+SHE, directly told him into his face what she thinks he feel or think or why he do this and (what made him so speachless+excited in same time) - and she also asked him if he would like to meet her out of the show lol (his reaction to this was so sweet)
this singer, and jury member - she really understood + she also asked him questions what proved that she dont just say it - but that she truly really understood him - what made it all really awesome + it made me happy for him.
later - every single one who thought first like "wth is this, whos that weirdo + is he insame or what?" hahaah , really everyone + the jury too - later , i bet they was happy that they did not let him go home but kept him .
(he also sang a song with this girl from jury + she also asked him out + to meet - out of this show + they did so)
in that audition this jury girl really made him being suprised + he asked her after she said i get what you feel like:
how?
how you can understand this? (bcos even he couldnt put it in words i guess)
she only told him:
"BECAUSE i was been LIKE YOU." (i have gone through same thing, so i know)
and bcos she exactly hit right on the point + kinda directly "hit the bulls eye" he felt so much better, u could really see it in his face expression it kinda made him happy that there was ONE, who really seen "through himi" and understood ...
i really need to find this audition thing to show you - °!!° - so , dear Caleb... i really love your reactions on Huas music + when i found the two videos (the duet with the jury girl + the audition)
i will be back here and post it for you.
I hope you will see it + my comment lol 😂 😂 + sorry for killllllling you with long text spam here but i really thought :
omgosh, this must be said now haha 😂 😂
A new subscriber here! I was introduced to Hua Chenyu a year ago - along with Dimash- by another Reactor, TraENT, who did rather suddenly and unexpectedly several months ago. He was also a musician.
Although this is my first time seeing you, I was moved enough to subscribe straight away! Nicely done!
Your insight was spot on! So much so that it was almost as haunting as this performance was! I look forward to hearing more from you in the future!
Thanks so much :)
Super Hua!
WOW...really cool ...i love it😍
Hi Caleb, Andy Davis made a reaction in February the 3rd (or 2nd).
He’s a one-man rock opera, a little dynamite. Peerless amongst his peers.
Nice...great reaction ❤🌺🌺 pls more ...thx
Great reaction always!👍 Love Hua Hua ❣️
I really like your analysis on these reactions. Mostly when I watch music reactions (mostly Dimash ofcourse :) ) you usually hear the music aspect and not the lyrics or storytelling aspect. Like the duality you spoke of resonates with the the primary colors shining on Hua: Purple and Blue and he really has interesting songs. And this is from a guy who never listens to Chinese music. Thank you again Caleb
From your Homeland-Matt Corby- Love to hear your reaction to Brother or Chains. HUA HUA is the best.
Love your reaction! Please react to His original songs "Bullfighting", "Cancer" and "Giant Deer"!
Love your reaction, great analysis, I believe that's the message he try to delivery behind this performance.
ALL GOOD STILL YOUNG HIS VOICE WILL CHANGE WHEN HE START SINGING MORE SONG (SOOTHING VOICE ...I THINK ?/ . VERY GOOD LIKE HIM A LOT --MY NO 1 IS TERRY LIN
