Russ, we've been sick with covid for 3 weeks and been traveling with you all across the US and even some of last years. You'll never know how much peace and help your excellent videos have brought to us when we have not been feeling well. We're on the mend now!
Thank you again for the wonderful video. As I said, for the past few years, following you, I have low vision, and don't drive anymore, so I very much appreciate your videos. Thanks again.
Beautiful trip through the Badlands. One comment to make though...that wasn't a mountain goat that you saw at the overlook. Mountain goats have white fur with short sharp black horns. What you saw was a bighorn sheep.
At the very end of the video, just up the road a few hundred feet, is a road taking you to the rim of the badlands where everyone boondocks along the edge!
What a cool landscape that changes instantly from prairie to canyons! Can't imagine what the early pioneers thought when they went from miles of prairie to suddenly this cool landscape! Hope to see it in person someday. Thanks for showing us this cool place Russ! 👍😃
I camped there with my brothers many years ago. Custer State Park is nearby as well as Wind Cave. It’s worth the trip. Fossils abound in this region. Great museums.
This drive was part of my 2003 vacation with my daughters, their friends, my borhter-in-law and neice - breath-taking beauty or God's creation. Thanks for "taking me back" (vicariously of course) 👍
My relatives wandered this area years ago with a covered wagon and three small kids. I have family in Sioux Falls and Rapid City and Deadwood. So much to see. The Wall's were friends of my parents back in the 30's It is not so much the peddeling but the seat needs to be a farmers tractor one. lol

Went through the badlands last year and came across a group of cyclist, 1 lady had a flat so we stopped, put in a new tube, pumped up her tire and sent her on her way. We always carry extra tubes and bike tools for our tandem bike and anyone that needs one. We prefer to cycle in the Hills though. Take care
I always thought 'Badlands' was some connotation for 'outlaw hideout', Like Hole-in-the -Wall, which it was. But by the looks of that rocky terrain, badland (for farming/ranching) is spot on!
I went through there this summer in early June. Absolutely beautiful and so different when you had been seeing the rolling hills to suddenly view this. I loved it.
South Dakota was my favorite state to drive across. I've been to the Badlands twice. I spent so much money at Wall Drug on every souvenir they had, lol. I was excited to find your video here. 😃
Bravo friend on the drive and narration. I haven't been there in 20 years but it sure brought back the memories. It's nice to ride shotgun with you Russ. Safe travels!
Russ. Thanks for this summer trip. This years trip is going to be hard to beat; if you plan on future summer trips. Thanks again !... Rick, Canonsburg, Pennsylvania.
I went through this loop of The Badlands in September of 2018. It was AMAZING!!! I can’t wait to go back and spend more time there. Thanks for sharing!!!
There is a herd of bison in the park. They are normally away from where people are but I got to see some up close when a small group came near the fence line.
Hi Russ. My wife and I just spent about 3 days at the Badlands. As you left the park heading toward Wall there were 2 cell towers on your right. If you would have taken the first right out of the park towards those towers there was some amazing boondocking overlooking the badlands. We spent 3 nights there. Free and many sites. If you ever get back there again you might want to give it a try. Thanks for the video. 👍👍🙏
Love your videos. I would not want to live in the Badlands in the winter either (nor in the summer) but weather not as bad as you make it. Average annual total snowfall 12 to 24 inches. Average high for January is 34 degrees Fahrenheit. Those houses out on the prairie are probably ranches. Ranchers raise cows and farmers raise crops. Ranchers don't like to be called farmers.
Very nice video. I'm heading to Rapid City from Florida in a couple of weeks. Provided the weather co-operates, this drive is at the top of my must do list. Now I have a great idea of what I'm in for and how the drive is.
Hello Russ😊😊, This takes me back to my time at Badlands National Park. This park is very interesting and Mars Like scenery. I enjoyed the video and looking forward to Wall Drug👍👍👍.
This really is beautiful country. I was told that the reason it was called “the Badlands” was because thieves, bank and train robbers etc would hide out in the “Badlands” because it was too hard for the law to come after them, too many places to hide. Could you imagine 150 years ago, traveling in a covered wagon for weeks if not months and coming to this? My husbands grandfather came to North Dakota and homesteaded in 1906. Can’t blame him for not going further west. Our lives today are so much easier compared to back then.
Funny I was thinking that it looks like some parts of Arizona then you mentioned that it reminds you of the Petrified Forests. Beautiful place thanks for the journey.
Thanks you so much for sharing your everyday travel with us Russ the grandkids says hello and say be safe always and travel well we’re looking too meeting you this year around quart site in Arizona taking the grandkids too the Grand Canyon this year lance and family
Seeing the homesteaders (17:25) and reading about them on the storyboard makes me really appreciate the people who built this country. Do you think that they still teach about this in our schools?
Hi Russ. We really enjoy your YT videos! What type dash cam and dash cam mount have you found to be the best for adjusting the cam and for stabilization? Safe travels!
wow, this is epic, thanks for sharing
I love the Badlands
south dakota tourism should pay you a lot of money for these videos. they are better than any I have seen
thank you

Mine cost $10 a few years ago. What a deal.
Thank you again for the wonderful video. As I said, for the past few years, following you, I have low vision, and don't drive anymore, so I very much appreciate your videos. Thanks again.
Another great video Russ. Thanks so much.

Yes, actually if you Google mountain goats in the Badlands Park, you will see that these are in fact mountain goats. Those weren't sheep.
Gorgeous Russ!
At the very end of the video, just up the road a few hundred feet, is a road taking you to the rim of the badlands where everyone boondocks along the edge!
Just outside the gates then ? I’ve never boondock. Is it safe?

I know, right?

Hey Russ!!! "NATURES" "BEAUTY"!!! Great View!!! Be Safe!!!
Thanks, you too!
Drove this loop a few years ago….enjoy!
I was 11 when I last went through the Badlands. I remember how beautiful it was...and how relentlessly hot it was!
Hope to visit this sacred place one day. It's on my bucket list for sure.
This drive was part of my 2003 vacation with my daughters, their friends, my borhter-in-law and neice - breath-taking beauty or God's creation. Thanks for "taking me back" (vicariously of course) 👍

Will be flying up from Florida and seeing the Badlands in ten days. Can’t wait! Thanks for the video, Russ!
Nice overlooks!
As I watched this to the end I was amazed at hardly anyone around in the Badlands in the morning. Best time to get there.
Mountain goats for cool I thought you'd see some Buffalo two I did but I came through there it is amazing have fun and be safe
Was there just last week...awesome place...looks so flat now....then wa-laa there it all is

Well, that Terrance Mallick film called _Badlands_ can't be beat!
The Indian translation is "bad land to get across". (Makoshika). There is also a Makoshika State Park nearby.
This channel gets better and better each video keep it up Russ so many of us cannot wait until you make it farther west :) mad respect to you ❤️
Thanks Russ. I've added the Badlands to my trip list.
Hey Russ - Thanks for showing us how beautiful Badlands NP is….we were up there a few years ago - love it! It does look like Mars! Thanks! Steve
Always wanted to see the badlands. I finally did, a drive through the park. It did not disappoint. Wow.

The Badlands and Wall Drug were some of the places featured in the movie "Nomadland".
Thank you for sharing!!!😃😃😃

Being a High School American History Teacher, I can assure you that I have included this topic in my course for the past 26 years..
@@richekay That's great to hear!
I enjoy the videos I've been to many of these places over the years
🙋♀️Hello Russ! I could see where you couldn't decipher a picture of the badlands, & that of a photo from the Land Rover of Mars. Awesome!👍
You missed the best Badlands camping. Just north of Pinnacle Gate. Badlands boon docking area. High on a ridge over looking the park.
FIRST NATION FOREVER ✊
R.I.P. CRAZY HORSE 🐎
Nice video vlog.
Drove out here from Illinois in early June. Once you pass the Missouri river going west, you see a lot of landscape changes
It is where the west begins.
@@allanhigby139 no doubt
@@allanhigby139 the west actually begins at the James River in eastern South Dakota sa long the 98th parallel.
Beautiful...thank you.
Amazing!!! Always wanted to go out there were you at the area they filmed Thunderheart? Thanks for the amazing views❤️
Russ did you stay on the Wall last night? Did you notice all the campers on the right about a mile after you exited the park? That’s the view brother.
You forgot to pick me up! 😭
Since your doing the western part of So Dakota can you add a stop at the Air And Space Museum at Ellsworth AFB just outside Rapid City? Please try..
Good one, Russ! What's it remind you of...? remember Glendive, MT? similar features.
Super great video thanks
Good stuff MrRuss😊
If you have the time you need to go see the Devils Tower if you haven't been there yey
Hi Russ. We really enjoy your YT videos! What type dash cam and dash cam mount have you found to be the best for adjusting the cam and for stabilization? Safe travels!
