Testing Stamp Art | Carving my own Stamps?!

- Hi guys! In today's video tested out Stamp Art for the first time. I've seen @MiraByler try this multiple times and it always looks so satisfying carving into the stamp block. Basically, you start with a carving block and a metal knife carving tools with all different sized heads. You then use the carving knife to remove pieces of the stamp you don't want to show up in the final product. It's really satisfying to watch, but for me it turned out to be much more frustrating and difficult than it looks....LOL

The rolling thing is to roll the ink directly onto the stamp. The more u practice the easier it gets

Oh my gosh I needed this so much! Believe it or not this was super inspiring & also hilarious. Thanks so much for posting your so called failure. I can overthink myself into paralysis. I get so worried about failing I cease to function. I am adding this video to my Artist Goals & Inspiration playlist. Inspiration comes from many places & today it came from a you being confident enough to share your frustration & 'failure' I totally give you an A for effort. I am watching old videos on this channel because of the collab with Moriah. When I was in school we had to use heat guns to soften the rubber periodically as we were carving out the stamp.

It's OK stamp art isn't for everyone. Takes a while to get the hang of it and when you do the out come is amazing. Slow and steady wins the race with stamp art. X

If you try it again the roller is supposed to be used to add the paint on the stamp like your last attempt. I too bought a set but have not tried it yet. I loved that you tried something new and were not perfect. That actually helps people like me know it is ok mine won’t come out like the professionals and that’s ok. It is a tough project and that’s probably why you don’t see it being done more often. Can’t wait for the next project!

Edit: FYI using the roller on the stamp is the easiest way to apply the paint evenly💛

I think you might have liked the rainbow one if you had viewed it as an outline to color it in? 🌈 Those look very hard to do as a lot of manual dexterity would be needed.

It's called lino carving 😂 love your vids. You need to get the Esdee set and always carve away from you!!! I've done LOADS and love it. It's a learning curve. You can also use ink pads to ink the image far less messy

If you ever try this again the one that you thought turned out good I noticed that you used the roller right on the stamp as opposed to pushing the stamp into the paint! I also noticed Mira Byler did it that way to 😊

I realize this video is a year old, but yea I know very little about stamp art. But what I do know I eill pass on yo anyone reading this 1 you have to use the roller to put the paint onto the stamp for best results. 2 the raised parts of the stamp are what show up so cutting off everything that wasn't the main peice is why they looked like that. If you did something more simple such as just simply cutting out the outline and background then it would have appeared Slightly better. Also I really don't think these were so bad for a first try, probably better then I could do.
Sooo ummm Im not trying to be critical but the reason it was so hard to carved into it is probably because you didn't get the beginner set. With the beginner set its much easyer to carve into the linoleum is much softer and more flexible so the tools can cut into it better. you're supposed to hold your hand behind The tool so you don't cut yourself. I hope this helps for if you do this again.

This is absolutely NOT the way to do linocut carving or printing. You need to learn how the process actually works before trying to instruct others. What an abomination!
