Man I made the mistake of bingeing the Walten Files before being put under for surgery and wound up thinking I saw a rabbit silhouette as I was waking up and started babbling about the entire lore to the poor nurse with a mouthful of gauze
I thought you were gonna bring up that you were in a perpetual nightmare, where you experienced the horrors that the kids went through over and over and again and again and again and again
It was probably caused by your brain returning to normal memory logging, which would likely involve your mind picking up where it left off - a demonic rabbit.
I would like to point out that not all of the pictured kids appear in the basement at the end, implying that the "well behaved" kids that stayed in the room survived, making the pumpkin rabbit disgustingly and disturbingly honest
It seems kinda unfair tbh I mean let’s say we’re going with he can mimic voices Theory I mean who’s not going to go to their friend calling their name and not appearing also what would they do if they had to use the bath room like oops you walked out of a room now to lure you and kill you like not telling them they can’t leave the room just is messed up. Personally I think that the voices are either recorded by the rabbit some how or some type of their spirits calling to their friend or their final words or just the house calling them Bc the clock was shown ticking but when ducky gets up they clock wasn’t ticking nor moving with another clock in the hallway
Might be that they refused and the pumpkin rabbit let them go, but he's a big strong animatronic that can probably run at 20 miles per hour. He can probably carry 2 children to his basement, as one of the other animatronic, bon, killed someone without them escaping for more than an hour. Maybe it just adds to his sick twisted version of happiness to cause a very preventable death. I don't really know.
@@nitropriest4161 depends on which friend it is if it's my best friend yeah I'm gonna go down there but if it's one of my friends that doesn't give a sh*t about me I'm not gonna get up
The best thing about Pumpkin Rabbit for me is he’s not part of the trope as “normal person that turns out to be a serial killer.” It’s INSTANTLY obvious that he’s fucked up and the antagonist. But the best part is the question is NOT “Is this guy bad?” The question is “How bad is this guy?” And when he’s shown mutilating children and turning them into unrecognizable husks, it shows just how horrifying he is.
In my eyes, the scariest thing about the Pumpkin Rabbit is how the other characters react to him. It's like he's an intruder in the plot, catching even the other characters off guard
And I love the fact how even the video it's self "Shocked" of he's presene its if he wasn't meant to be here. and also the music stops and keeps playing every time he's on or off screen
and the fact that their corpses had to be crushed in order to fit inside the animatronics, the skin had to be warped and streched for it to fit on the endoskeleton, that's worse than being springlocked
Some of them look like human versions of 🗿 I feel like if you put a photo of 🗿 and put some skin tone, blood, static effects and warp the face you get a Walten Files face
I love how your avatar looks like a lovecraftian monster, but seems like a pretty chill guy with a really normal sounding name. Like if Cthulhu was named Robert and worked a 9-5 in a office and was friends with all his coworkers
What I like is how cutesy he looks. The body is very rounded, without any defined muscles or joints. It reminds me a lot of rubber hose cartoons from the 20s and 30s. The unsettling part comes from the face, which is constantly shifting. It also doesn't help that it's hard to tell what he's feeling. But the design isn't so disturbing as the make the videos unwatchable. I don't like horror at all, but I watch these videos because of the avatar.

i wouldnt worry too much :) the description of the walten files videos are by a character named anthony who found the tapes we watch in a lost in found bin, stating two old women left them there.
For me it's that one part in TWF3 where it's just boozoo with those red eyes and it just keep repeating "MISSING MISSING MISSING MISSING MISSING MISSING MISSING MISSING MISSING MISSING MISSING MISSING"
when Tammy discovers the bodies you can see tears forming in Tammy’s eyes like she knows this is her fate too. That just makes me feel some way I can’t explain but the feeling is very unsettling.
Considering that it’s called the, “Pumpkin Rabbit”, and the vacant stares plus flat bodies of the kids makes me think that they were gutted like pumpkins becoming jack-o-lanterns. Plus, the Pumpkin Rabbit saying that they won’t feel a thing is probably because he gutted them through their throats, because they clearly weren’t cut open. This means that the Vagus Nerve(s) are affected, and that nerve is a common cause for passing out/feinting. (I took too long to discover the Vagus Nerve just to prove some random point)
Not so fun fact: The face on the pumpkin in the beginning is reminiscent of Tammy's face at the very end seemingly foreshadowing what would become of her
@@dankymemegecko2009 on the mysterious house video itself (not this one) pause it then go to these timestamps Beginning pumpkin/jack o lantern face: 0:20 Ending Tammy's face: 12:12
@@lunawolf1753 thanks you, but I got a fact to, even tho bon, pumpkin rabbit, and mortality are the same bodies, mortality is the shortest version and bon and pumpkin taller than mortality
6:03 Yeah, this bit made me laugh out loud watching it for the first time. Just the cheery "what about that one? :D" then cut to the sketchiest looking house imaginable while the music stops suddenly. Totally not sus at all, kids.
Something to note is the fact that the pumpkin rabbit was in the bedroom with Tammy for an unknown amount of time while she was sleeping, and can seemingly slip around the house in silence and darkness without people near him noticing. This is proven by the fact that when Tammy initially walks out of her room looking for Duckie, you can see Pumpkin Rabbit's face staring through the crack in the doorway behind her.
I believe that was Sha, she was following Tammy the whole time. You can see her in the basement getting closer, and closer to Tammy, and then closing the doors behind her.
@Nobody-re6ow I went back, and it was him, face in the door frame after Tammy was looking at the clown for the first time and it cuts back to her, revealing his creepy self in the door
Another minor, but equally unsettling detail: when the Pumpkin Rabbit pulls off his mask, if you look very carefully, his face appears to be made up of human skin underneath all the unsettling miscoloration and deformation. Making him the only human in this world of colorful talking animals. It's just an added layer of eeriness to an already incredibly disturbing character, further setting him apart from the world around him.
Too be honest, he probably wears the costume to keep the others from seeing he's a human. Same way a animal person ( not much of a better description of them.) Would hide their body. And he's disfigured so maybe he learned it's better if he hides himself. Killing kids is still not as good as therapy.
Imagine if the pumpkin rabbit is secretly the last human in the world of the cartoon, and he goes insane, murders a yellow rabbit guy, and wears their corpse, waiting in the titular mysterious house for his next victims. How the corpse doesn't rot, no idea, maybe cartoon logic. And maybe he killed others, and stuffed animatronics into their corpses, making the other people in the house.
I mean, yeah, the creepy eyes do look very human..but Bon, who is kinda..part-organic looking..ish has those eyes but the pumpkin rabbit..his eyes are very.. very human (albeit creepy ones), and in that quick moment, his face looks almost like thwt of a burn victim’s.
One thing I think you missed was the song that played during Ducky's reveal as a mutilated corpse. The cheery music itself is actually from a piece called "Streets of Cairo", which literally talks about the murdering of a "poor little maid" under the cheery music. The song is literally about the death of a person who couldn't experience life, which is exactly what happened to the characters.
@@Bigpancake270. It's all about reading into the lyrics. Verse One makes it pretty clear that the maid got murdered "All alone, oh what a pity." Verse 2 is about a man who dined with her now "sorry that he met her," and that "in the future he'll know better." The only reason the man would need to feel sorry for meeting her is that we'll, she isn't around anymore. Verse 3 talks about her being pursued by several interests, with the "One who caught her now is sorry". Either implying that the individual killed her or is suspected of killing her. Of course, all of these romance bits could be associated with her simply leaving town rather than dying. But it's hard to dismiss the line "All alone, oh, what a pity" if the maid simply left town. There is a very morbid impression left by that line which is why the song is regarded about her death, rather than something like her simply leaving town.
I still think that Boozoo’s Ghost is the most horrifying out of all of them but you do honestly make some good points about why this one is at advanced spooky levels
I think boozoo ghost really suffered from some audio mixing issues. It was really hard to make out some of the voices. But the excellent character design definitely made up for it!
@@unwantedaccount4404 really? Mortality felt a biiiit too edgy. Pumpkin rabbit less booming voice and mildly excited nature felt more real to me. Then again mortality is a ghost so the more supernatural vibe fits.
Normally a sign of love for a franchise is saying "I've watched the movie five whole times!" but the Walton Files are so incredible that I can confidently say that I have no watched more than 10 minutes of any given episode
A thing I was kinda sad wasn't mentioned was the fact that the Pumpkin Rabbit had already been in the room Tammie woke up in. If you checked around 7:07 of the original video during the conversation with Billy you can see the Pumpkin Rabbit watching. Meaning that one he ensured that Tammie would follow precisely where they needed to go. Second that he had been waiting for possibly hours waiting for his fun to begin. To see the fear seep into his victims as they start wandering the house until they find the gathering in the basement. Puppeteering them by tricking them into believing that the basement would be a safe place. Where Tammie can find their friend and go back to sleep. But we both know that's not how the story goes. Additionally the fact that Billy is positioned *perfectly* in the corner of the livingroom means that he can ensure that Tammie wouldn't go through. Always watching and standing in the one place where no one could sneak past or surprise attack him. But could very easily block the door to assist the Pumpkin Rabbit.
No, that wasn't Pumpkin. That was Witch Sha. You see it with the arms and how the body is shaped. Pumpkin was hiding and using Duckie's voice, Sha watched and sort of slowly chased them down the halls. (Remember, black fur and red arms, not orange/brown fur and green arms.)
i think the one tiny itty bitty part of this episode that really drove it home and made it 10x scarier to me was how tammy reacted in the scene shown at 20:29, her reaction is realistic and genuine, in horror movies anytime the characters see anything remotely scary they scream at the top of their lungs, but tammy just gasps, like shes hasnt had enough time to fully process what shes seeing but she can tell what it is, and her reaction is a such, shes suprised at what shes seeing, she hasnt put the pieces of what shes seeing together yet but she knows its not normal, i fucking love it, its so small but to me just adds so much, maybe im overthinking and looking to deep
21:45 bro when you said ducky’s last words was him calling Tammy to save him from the pumpkin rabbit is so saddening to me. Throughout the entire episode, Ducky took Tammy’s feelings/consideration to heart, he stuck by her when she began to realize remaining in the house was a bad idea but since the group kept persisting for them to stay, they were afraid of what would happen if they did run which led them to their deaths eventually. Even in his last moments, he wanted to be near her and hope she would do the same for him. 😭🤚
One of the craziest things about Mysterious House is that in the description, Martin says he made it as something to tide people over, due to the next major installment taking a while. That's one thing, but it also mentions it was made in 4-5 _Days._ That's nuts! Is it mostly colored storyboard-esque stills with VO and a couple TTS bots? Yeah. But that requires drawing/creating every one of those stills, their backgrounds, getting together a few people to do actual VO, and the _mountain_ of editing and post-processing on all the visuals and audio. A tightly, suspensefully edited _13 Minute_ Analog Horror short...in under a week. Remarkable.
I’m surprised to see no one really mentions that Tammy points out that she’s not wearing a costume at the beginning with a knife clearly stuck through her head. And when she enters the house for the first time, the knife disappears for the remainder of the episode. I was really hoping you’d mention it! It was one of my favorite visuals in the whole thing, really gave me this sense of foreboding that she was already doomed.
TBH the thing that scares me most about the Mysterious House has always been the witch sheep following behind Tammy as she goes towards the basement. I have this weird fear of things slowly approaching characters, and the visual of the sheep getting closer and closer everytime the camera cuts back to Tammy hit me like a brick. Couple that with the fact that she's a Sha recolour, and that Sha's animatronic pose is just...really creepy to me, idk why. Also the fact you can see her close the door behind Tammy- that is terrifying
I feel the EXACT SAME, especially down to the odd fear of slowly approaching characters!!! It is so rare to find others also horrified by this. I don't know which method of monsters/supernatural or mechanical forces doing it is actually worse and more dreadful... Either them; 1. Slowly, almost teasingly or savouringly shambling closer to you, taking their sweet ass time, or, 2. Somehow even worse than the previous because of how uncanny and inhuman and fast it is-- where they just stay still as a long-dead corpse, or machine, or statue, or something put on pause unnaturally in time, and then they just glitch forward closer towards you, seeming to "step in frames" to "move" towards you by crossing bounds and bounds of distance with just like, three frames of stillness getting closer so fucking quick that it chills you to your core. It's even worse when it's not an outright trying-to-jumpscare-you feeling, but instead a horrifying awful dread that builds up to absolutely no conclusion, leaving you to stew in your own fears for eternity for you never find an end to this 'Completion Process'. That entire concept of fear is what The Walten Files and The Mysterious House does as an entire theme, EXPERTLY. God, am I impressed by Martin Walls. (His creations and delightfully horrifying creativity AND his enchantingly unsettling voice acting for many chars (my ultimate fave being Pumpkin Rabbit OF COURSE--NOT EVEN TALKING ABOUT ANYTHING ELSE, WHEN DO U FIND A DOPE ASS VILLAIN WITH A CHILEAN ACCENT? *CHEF'S KISS* THIS CHAR DESIGN IS PHENOMENAL BRO) all he does with this series as a whole is and has been impressing me spectacularly since the beginning. 💜🧡👍
@@endoBiologist I agree with your entire comment, it's absolutely horrifying, except for the fact that slowly moving towards your pray is a VERY human thing. I think that might be why its so unsettling. humans are persistence hunters, having that turned around on us just feels so *wrong*
Just a heads up for those who didn't catch it. The Mysterious house and Boozoo's ghosts are not connected to the walten files and are their own thing. Concepts may be used over in the walten files series but there is no direct lore connection.
The scariest part to me was Tammy's reaction to the truth. A lot of horror protagonists seem cold or distant because you're supposed to react for them, but seeing her cringe and burst into tears at what she's looking at was absolutely gut-wrenching
Well, I feel that the stills need to be a bit more expressive and should have more… emotions, I guess. It currently has potential but I feel is just too filled with just the simple smile and eyes, trying to spook you instead of actually expressing how the creator feels. I think you should look at someone like Spoctor’s channel, as I feel his stills are almost perfect, and the short bounce effect to make it feel more alive.
For me, the scariest episode will always be Boozoo's ghost, the fact the episode starts out relatively tame and somewhat even funny before it transitions into horror really shocks the audience, and the fact the episode pulls a trick on us by making us think Boozoo will eventually learn to be better and overcome the horrors but when the end arrives it's already too late, he took too long to change and there is NO going back, it feels really sad and downright disturbing as we see GENUINE change him spark as he tries his hardest to be better only to be slaughtered.
@@adamshearer693 I mean mortality is cool but Sad is adorable... Before he becomes a microphone consumer (I seriously have no idea what he's saying at that part)
A scary detail that I found was when ducky was being lured, he wasn’t wearing his costume. But when Tammy finds him in the basement, his mangled body has the costume on him. I can only imagine what the pumpkin rabbit did to him…
Surprisingly, the scene that got me the most wasn’t even the end, it was the one scene right before the end. When Tammy went to each door in the basement and the Pumpkin Rabbit got closer and closer with each door she stopped at. His face appearing when she stops at the first door, and By the second door it already looked like he was on top of her, but she still didn’t even notice him, only for him to look like he was RIGHT next to her by the third door. I was in SUCH suspense expecting him to do something at ANY moment. Just REALLY creepy.
And also, the fact that the Pumpkin Rabbit was in the room with them the entire time as seen in the beginning of the suspense part where you can see his face glaring over at Tammy on the slightly open door of the room,it creates this more unsettling and sadistic character for him and i freaking love it.
I love that you gave a shout out to why exactly the scary face reveals work so well in the Walten Files. I genuinely can't make heads or tails as to what the HELLISH FUCK happened to them, but I know it must have been absolutely excruciating.
One thing that I realized is how only the Pumpkin Rabbit speaks in a normal voice, while the other characters from the house speak in TTS. It's also pretty clear that the PR is able to imitate voices, which is what he did with Ducky. My theory is that the house in its entirety is a decoy, all set up by the Pumpkin Rabbit, including his 'friends'. this thought is seriously fucking me up now.
Probably what made creepy pastas so scary to you as a kid is because it depended on your imagination to be scary. As an adult, you have less imagination and a higher fear tolerance, so it lost it's impact to you.
It's not that adults have "less imagination," it's that adult imagination has a higher logic threshold to cross. A child is more forgiving to major lapses in logic that an adult is just like, "nah."
I think a big reason why the mysterious house stuck with me for several days after I watched it, is how abrupt the ending is. In most horror movies where all the protagonists die, there is at least a scene after their death, which either answers questions about how the killer operated exactly, or teases the next victim, implying that the murders will continue. I don't think the video would have had nearly as big of an impact on me, if, after Tammy's death, the perspective shifted to a new kid being tricked by the Pumpkin Rabbit's friends to stay. By making the story end with Tammy, it makes her death more impactful, and all of the events that led up to it more terrifying to think about. Plus, by having the scene in the basement be the last scene in the video, it gives me the subconscious feeling, that I was trapped there too, never being alowed to leave like Ducky and Tammy, instead of cementing my role as an uninvolved observer, by showing me a scene outside of the basement afterwards. Once you're in the basement, you can never leave it, and that goes for the audience as well.
Another detail I actually really love in this short is the sheep witch. Her synthetic voice gives her an almost artificial feeling. And her face when the pumpkin rabbit interrupts her looks almost sad, implying she may also be a victim here. A lot of details for a minor character and I love it! (Also her design? Bloody brilliant)
this is terrifying because it implies that after he kills his victims (or maybe it was just Tammy idk) the pumpkin rabbit carves the expression of said victim to in a way remember them by witch is downright morbid
Something I love personally about The Pumpkin Rabbit, is his resemblance to Spring Bonnie. They share a similar appearance, yet the Pumpkin Rabbit easily stands out as his own character and, in my opinion, an even scarier one. I'd also like to think of it as maybe a nod or a wink to the series that inspired the Walten files in the first place
The thing I like most about TWF is it actually feels like you’re watching abandoned VHS tapes. A lot of creators try to emulate the feeling by putting on some filters and having time appropriate technology in the back round, but Martin Walls really put in the effort to make it feel as if you’re looking at tapes that were made in the 70s, even if almost everything is drawn in a rough cartoony style.
Honestly I’m more of a fan of Boozo’s ghosts, especially with the character of Mortality and the cruel fate of Boozo himself not being able to be given any sort of redemption and instead is killed right at the last moment when he was finally getting ready to turn his life around. But your explanation and detail analysis of this episode, especially the analysis of the pumpkin rabbit himself is great! It’s awesome to see the key little details that some people might either miss or simply gloss over and you really did an amazing job at compiling everything that makes The Walten Files just so horrifying and perfect all at the same time
I think that the point was that Boozoo was never actually ready to turn his life around at any point in the story. He never apologized. He begged and begged, but that doesn't mean he changed. When he thought he'd woken up, his reaction wasn't "oh thank god Banny's alive", it was "oh thank god everything's back to normal". Even at the end, all he did was beg. No promises of change, no apologizing for his mistakes, no taking accountability for his actions... he just begged.
@@shayray8764 Kinda reminds me of Felix in the mainline Walten Files story, it’s not that he feels guilt for actions although he indeed does but he *fears* the consequences of his actions more…
Same but honestly I can never re watch that short because I just feel the need to yell every time "I WANT WAFFLE FRIES" And also this whole series freaks me out, I am very invested in the story but I can never make it through a full episode, so I rely on my best friend who was very glad I introduced her to the series to give me updates. I've seriously tried, and even the cartoon bits freak me the fuck out. It's thanks to TWF I realised I can't stand analog horror. I am a huge horror fan and I can stomach pretty much anything, but VHS style tapes? NOPE. NO SIR, NO WAY, NU UH.💀
To expand on what was said at around 8:15, there's another reason why the character deaths feel so personally terrifying. Most characters in the main Walten Files episodes die not only because of how naive they are, but because they started investigating in an area they were not welcome. There's a very common theme of curiosity killing people (or putting them in extreme danger in Sophie's case, we'll see where that goes), where the characters could have survived if they just kept their head down and not asked questions. But at the same time, these characters aren't just acting stupid and poking their nose into random haunted animatronics for the sake of having a spooky horror series moment, they're asking very reasonable questions and being killed for it. Rose just wanted to know what happened to her husband, Sophie thought she was just investigating a weird game until it was too late. Sophie even says "the curiosity is killing me right now." Yeah, Ashley goes way too deep into the obviously scary facility, but at the end of the day she just wanted to find a way to save her job. And in this case, Tammy just wanted to know where her friend is. Granted, I seriously doubt she would've been allowed to leave if she stayed in her room, it's definitely implied that she was deliberately set up so the pumpkin rabbit could blame her death on her. The only character death (so far) that doesn't fit this theme is Brian, he was just killed for resembling Sophie, but that was more for the sake of establishing how dangerous these monsters are to the main character
I mean… technically Brian could have been killed for his curiosity, as there seems to be a gap in time between examining the animatronic and running in the woods. I think it’s possible that after he noticed that something was wrong with his arm, he decided to investigate Bon closer, and the camera just didn’t catch it. It’s important to note that yeah, curiosity was the direct factor which lead to their deaths, most of them had another factor which meant they would have died anyway (being on hitlist/looking like somebody on it). In that respect, Ashley is the odd one out as she is the only one who was killed specifically for no other reason than her curiosity (although how the hell did Bon mistake Brian for Sophie, but not Ashley??)
@@kiera6326 I see what you mean, but Brian's case was just him doing a job, whereas the others were doing something they wouldn't normally do and being killed for it (hence the "she saw something she wasn't supposed to see and now she's beautiful" thing over Ashley's death scene). There wasn't really any indication that showed Brian actually caring about what's wrong with the animatronics. But, granted, the person who was put inside banny (I can't remember her name) had something similar happen, she was also just doing her job. Yeah, it's possible that there's missing details, like you said about Brian, but I feel like we aren't going to see anything else about that particular scene. Sure, it's possible she was investigating Jack's disappearance in other ways, but for now her death throws a wrench in that running detail.
I would like to think maybe they would have let her go if she didn't got out of her room since out of all the missing children there's one that doesn't appear as a corspe and it's the dog dressed as an angel, which might mean that he was not a "naughty boy". Or maybe since it was the oldest their corspe was removed but idk
@@theforgotten5355 That would make a lost of sense, implying that the one dressed as an angel was the one that escaped for being well behaved. I doubt they would have removed the corpse, either way. If they can preserve the other corpses for years, it'd be weird for a corpse that's just a little bit older to be too old to keep
Honestly, the biggest input that "The mysterious house" has putten on me is in the moment that the pumpkin rabbit has showed up in the basement. Like you said, we vouch for the main characters to get out of this situation but his horryfying figure that has unsettled us before and gave us a huge warning that he is the antagonist, now comes again to asure us that our characters have no hope for them left. Last thing is the mask. It looks so huge and uncanny plane like no other walten file characrer. The way the mask bends while he talks unlike the other cartoonish characters is horryfying. Now that I think of it, the transition from cartoon style to these weird animatronics monsters might playout with the imagination of these innocent children. When the child is naive and unaware of it's danger it tries to give light to everything that might even be a bit unsettling, but when the nightcomes and they are scared of their surroundings and they do not feel safe at all they depict them in almost off-wordly way. That's how I understand all of these transitions and the horror of this episode.
What I also love about this halloween episode is that the fate of Tammy follows the exact same outcome of another character in the actual Walten Files series called Ashley from episode 2: Relocate Project. Character wakes up in the middle of the night to explore the building they're currently sleeping in with the objective of finding someone or something, finding a line up of doors to explore, eventually entering the very last one of these sets of doors, only to never come back out after meeting their demise by the hands of a terrifying rabbit. The only difference being that Tammy at least seemingly got a quick and painless death as promised by the Pumpkin Rabbit, unlike Ashley who was brutally stuffed into the clown suit by Bon and was forced to just sit there, still alive, until eventually passing away from blood loss.
I think one aspect of the Pumpkin Rabbit that is not mentioned is his resemblance to Springtrap. While not a direct parallel to Springtrap, he is still nonetheless very, eerily, similar in both appearance and goals, but they are both different in their M.O. It is not obvious that they are similar, as you did not mention it in the video, but subconsciously you will still make that connection, particularly if you are heavily invested in FNaF. This means that even if none of the other evidence existed, you would probably still feel uneasiness around the character. I think another thing that is important but not mentioned is the name 'the Pumkin Rabbit'. It's not really a name, not a proper one anyway. While all the other characters have name, the Pumkin Rabbit doesn't. This implies that he is different to the others, and is just unsettling enough to disturb you when you think about it, and raises question about this character. One that is, ultimately, never answered.
I was looking for this comment! It’s almost as though they’ve used design elements of springtrap as visual and emotional shorthand for someone who definitely should not be trusted around children.
To add on to the Fnaf association almost/if not all of the dead children (minus Tammy) are the same animals as the main 4 fnaf animatronics too or at least have all of their color schemes
I thought the character in the introduction was just an example of "Watch cartoon and it eventually devolves into madness" but then I realized it was YOUR OC. *I love it.*
The Walten Files are honestly some of the most high quality analogue horror (I think that’s what you call them lol?) videos I’ve ever seen, and they’re completely chilling yet so compelling to watch at the same time. My favorite scene of the entire Walten Files (I have a lot of favorites but this takes the cake for me) has to be when Bon comes alive attacks the man who explores the old storage facility. It’s really creepy, so unique, and the jumpscare of sorts is absolutely perfect in making you feel the DREAD. All the while you hear the guy say “what was that THING” while running away from Bon, and to be honest, it’s so well done (this is exactly why I love Squimpus’s stuff too, along with other programs like The Battington Tapes, Local 58, Gemini Home Entertainment, and The Mandela Catalogue). I also really like the morphing face model after the jumpscare, it’s certainly bizarre but genius at the same time to keep the tension up. So yeah, The Walten Files are simply amazing. Great video as always, Pastra :D
@@pro_homeowner4854 sometimes i feel like the only reason people say that they like it or that it's good is because they dont want to make the creator feel bad since its obvious they arent that great at drawing
The Mysterious House, while indeed absolutely terrifying, also makes me feel so bad for Tammy and Ducky, they were just kids who thought they could spend the night with a nice lady and her friends, and instead meet a gruesome and disturbing end.
I dont even think the other people who lived in the house(besides the pumpkin rabbit) were even real. The pumpkin rabbit was already established to be able to mimic others voices and considering the other "Home owners" didnt respond to anything during the climax of the video, its safe to assume that they're either life sized dolls or meat puppets which makes that whole interaction 10x scarier.
Honestly while bunny farm is scary, yes, i find it more sad than scary in the end. The backstory of someone who knows he's irresponsible going against his own better judgement to help his friend, and that ruining the rest of his, and his friend's lives outweighs the spooks and jumps.
Amazing video!! Another thing I noticed from The Mysterious House is that, when we see the photos of the old victims including Johnny Bear, there are two kids who don't appear at the very end when Tammy finds the corpses. Which implies that there was actually a chance for Duckie and Tammy to leave alive from that house and I think that makes the story 10 times more terrifying. If only they were asleep for the entire night, maybe there could've been a happy ending after all.
Personally, I think the only way they would have gotten out is by not staying the night at all. The Pumpkin Rabbit in particular doesn't strike me as someone who would be put off by potential murder victims being asleep. I'm surprised that his seemingly usual strategy involves them being awake and potentially able to flee and tell the authorities, rather than just jumping them while they're asleep and unable to react in time. I think that even if they'd slept the whole time, they still would have died and just wouldn't have had time to process what hit them before they were killed
My theory is that they could just be asleep till the morning cause as the pumpkin rabbit said that duckie and tammy can't roam the house. Maybe is they would obey the rules they could have a happy ending.
17:43 I actually noticed when he starts talking, the audio pitch lowers. I mostly concentrate on the sound, and this made my fear of the walten files get worse.
Martin can distort faces and audio in such an amazing and genuinely scary way that I haven't seen many other examples of, I agree this is his scariest video because the shot of ducky being found and the music that plays messes me up hard
I'll be honest, I was a bit disappointed with the overarching story of the walten files, but the mysterious house blew me away with how greusome and viceral it was, and the fact it's disconnected from the walten files is pretty cool.
Thank God I'm not the only one. I really don't like TWF but kept going to see if it evolved past "inspiration FNAF" but for me, it just kept falling flat. Watching Martin's original shorts with no connection to TWF feels so organic and eerier. I wish he'd do more of these.
The unexplained anachronisms in TWF kept pulling me out of the story, especially as the series went on. I know it's kind of a nitpick, but if you want your story to take place in a certain era,it should at least try to take place *in that era.*
After you said that pumpkin rabbit mimics voices to me that made things way worse cause now I have a thought. What if everyone else in the house are not real like how we see them near the end and rabbit just uses fake voices for all of them to make the house feel lively?
I'm straight up in love with Clyde. The design is so lovable yet spooky and they seem like they would be great to watch scary movies with. I was honestly invested in their little poses and expressions just as much as the rest of the video! Your content is so interesting so far and I can't wait to see where you go with the channel!
My absolute favourite goddamn thing about Pumpkin Rabbit, is the slow burn as you see him walk behind Tammy, slowly creeping into the foreground and eventually locking her in the room with the corpses It's the same level of horror as the original Halloween, and I say that specifically because Michael in the original Halloween is utilized as a background detail very well. From scenes where his mask is just off center of the camera shot, lurking in the shadows, to the quintessential moment of him almost robotically getting up and looking at Laurie who's the focal point of the shot, and by extension looking directly at the audience. Pumpkin Rabbit captures all of that terror in just a few minutes of screentime, and I love it
something to notice, when tammy is walking out she passes the picture of her and ducky and it shows ducky not in the photo anymore. just something cool to note
good video, but personally i think bunnyfarm is easily the scariest episode. the sound design in the death scenes reeeeaaaallly fucks me up lol. I wish I'd mentioned Mysterious House in my video though smh.
I feel like it’s because bunnyfarm was the longest of the 3 canon episodes It crams so much content into an hour of animation, so it has the power of 3 episodes, and because the Walten files have only 3 episodes, it ratios the rest really hard
I think it’s hilarious that your characters facial expressions don’t really have specific emotions and you just change its pose at the end of every phrase
I found Johnny the most unsettling as we see him missing as a normal boy and then we see them as a mangled mess trapped in a somewhat haunted house, I love your videos and have watched everyone since your 2nd Fnaf 3 video (:
I also love how the entire episode's plot is clearly a call back to what happened to Brian Stells at the K9 facility. Tammy is even blueish purple color just like his uniform, she gets killed by a character that looks similar to Bon, and the house has a long hallway with multiple doors just like the facility. I honestly would love to see a video of you covering other episodes of TWF, such as Bunny Farm and all it's heavy lore dumps. Love Clyde's sprites btw! They look awesome. ✨
Hey, not to undercut what you said, but I personally disagree with this as I belive its a retelling of ashleys story going into the abandoned facility, finding the robots, waking up to discover billy, finding something she shouldnt have found, and then getting killed with her face mutilated. Also the pumpkin rabbit taking of its mask to show a disfigured faces mimics ashley doing the same at the end of her respective video.
@p33than We're not saying it's canon, but it's definitely connected. We're pointing out the fact that The Mysterious House seems to be retelling the story of Ashley but in a new setting. The similarities are uncanny.
THERE'S A SEQUEL AS OF YESTERDAY AND IT'S AMAZING! The Mysterious House is my favortite horror media ever and I'm very excited about the sequel. Idk, thats really all I had to say. I like this analysis and thought I would spread the word here. There are deffinately better ways of doig this.
The pumpkin rabbit mimicking voices could also explain why the other characters are just robots who don’t talk when Tammy explores at night. Their voices are just the rabbit the entire time.
one of my favorite parts of the walten files is in "lucky you" when the text says "THEY DANCE TO THE MUSIC" with the sha endo flailing its body and arms around in pure agony, i dont know why but it gives me chills every time
I personally think that the second episode, the training and maintenance tape, is the downright scariest. As you get to know Susan and spend a lot of time with her, it comes as a shock when she just. Dies. It comes pretty quick, but you can feel it coming for the longest time. Also, the scenes where you get to see her mangled face, or disfigured body are one of the most disturbing moments in the series.
Wait, Susan? Did she do the training and maintenance tape in the second episode? (Though I agree her face is the most horrifying thing in the series for me)
I've seen TWF around a dozen times by now, & I NEVER REALIZED that the Pumpkin Rabbit was mimicking the victim's voices... ESPECIALLY Tammy's at the very end. Holy shit, that is so chilling; I love it!
Ducky's body is what really stuck with me. as well as the following dead children. Like, it's so sad and unsettling seeing them allve through the whole episode, and then just seeing them like that─dead and lifeless, staring at nothing. Really shocked me. I also like the vibes the video gives off─it's made to look like an old cartoon, similar to ones like "Franklin, Pippi Longstocking, and the early days of Arthur, to name a few. It's just so familiar, and yet anything bu, mimicking something I would usually take comfort in. Truly a masterpiece. (P.S, LOVE your avatar! It's super unique, and your artstyle is like nothing i've ever seen before!)
Not-so-fun fact: this was my introduction to the Walten Files. I had no idea what I was getting into, which made the ending that much more impactful to me
It takes a large sum of horror to make me scared. Not much to be unsettled but I deal with that most days( really old house 150+ years. Used too be a barn, many occupance. Another barn burned down on the hill and killed a lot of animals. Definitely sus maybe haunted.)
I for some reason can’t watch the Walten Files videos themselves but am so fascinated by the theories and video essays about them. It’s the only way I’m able to watch them so I love videos like these. The formatting of this one is so good and I’ve watched some of your others and they’re so good :)
@@Pastraspec Oh that is amazing! Your artsyle is so unique and eye catching for me and I really enjoy how it looks! Fo you have any site where I can see more of your artwork? Asking for a friend 👀
The thing about the scene, where Ducky leaves the room and then calls for temmy, is that voice. When I noticed that it's the exat same recording of his voice, gave me the chills. After that point, I knew that something happened to him. Before that, I thought he would have found something concerning and called for Temmy in order to show it to her and then leave the house together, but nope... that's not what had happened.
I agree that the scariest thing about the Pumpkin Rabbit is what it makes you think about. When I first heard about it, my brain put me in Tammy's shoes, an innocent little child staring at the mutilated corpses of children, and that didn't just scare me, it disturbed me deeply. And just the way everything is so childlike (like Pastra said in the video) makes you imagine what is actually happening. You imagine the Rabbit speaking to the kids, you imagine it mutilating them, and you imagine it removing its face in painful, realistic detail.
This is how you do inspiration WELL! If you know anything about FNAF, you absolutely catch the references and similarities. But you could watch the series and have 0 knowledge of FNAF and still get SO MUCH OUT OF IT. This series is so frightening and all of the faces are so creepy and just gross. I hate watching these videos, and I want to never look away! The ultimate juxtaposition!
This series feed off of my greatest fear. The fear of helplessness, you are in danger and pain but there is nothing you can do. I dont even know a scenario to describe but jesus does this series do it for me.
There's something so endearing about your character being so terrifying and nightmarish but having such a normal voice, absolutely love it and your vids, keep up the good work
Just noticed the fun spooky detail of the flooring resembling the honeycomb pattern floor from The Shining. This series shows its inspiration so well without ripping it off and being super scary in its own right. Great video!!
My headcanon is that Clyde is a really chill person who rarely gets angry. Most people just don’t talk to him cuz…ya’know…He kinda looks like…How do I say “monster” nicely?
Pssst... Who's Clyde? Is he, the narrator/ video maker? If so yes, agreed but the irony is, I'm totally okay with making friends with our estranged eldritch friend here. I guess you would ask them how they would like to refer to their looks for I would call them an Aesthetic beauty. (I just like the design.)
I really appreciate you making videos like this, because as much as I shouldn’t get into the Walton files and analog horror, I’m a really big fan! I suffer from paranoia to a degree, and watching any of these types of videos can give me a ton of fright at night, so I really appreciate being able to experience the story while listening to your voice and looking at your cool persona
I love how your character has that darkness, like a hood, on his face. It makes you able to put in anything there and it wouldn't be impossible, like several eyes or words. Honestly, I feel like the transition images are really cool as there is just a blank face with a word in it.
Your character design is REMARKABLE!!! I love how cooky and creepy it looks with one theme never drowning out the other not to mention you thorough and effective explanations of your videos!!!
(Edit: Adding a Spoiler Warning here! Please watch the video(s) first!) I think what makes this so impactful for me, beyond the visuals (which are amazing), scares (which are disgusting and terrifying, and overall understanding of the medium and tension, is three things- the characters, the earnestness of the video, and the sheer taboo of children being the victims here. The characters- Unlike most of the Walten Files, and analog horror in general, we actually get a good few minutes to get to know our two protagonists. They’re likable, play well off each other, are clearly good kids, and overall just seem like they’d be good protagonists for a regular tv show. That makes the slow build up of the video SO much worse, because you actually like these characters and don’t want them to get hurt, unlike so many faceless victims in analog horror. Earnestness of the video- This may sound odd but this video is incredibly heartwarming, at least at the beginning. It truly feels like some old Halloween special that you might see from Walt Disney or another similar company. The music is appropriate, the characters are adorable, there’s clear effort but not corporate perfectionism, and most of all the voice actors are incredibly charming and talented. It all feels so REAL and welcoming. That makes the encroaching darkness so much worse because not only does it stand out far more clearly and parallel real world issues that hide in plain sight, but it perverts something we want to hold as innocent and happy, turning a goofy silly Halloween episode into a nightmare worse than most horror films. The taboo of child victims- This one should be obvious but so few movies truly have children come under any real threat, for a great number of reasons. There is in general a cultural taboo about depicting violence of any kind involving children, so having this video so graphically, slowly, and mercilessly lay it out is incredibly disturbing. What especially makes it work is that despite the oddness of the characters, potential connections to the Walten Files at large, and the unexplained elements, the basic premise is horrifyingly realistic. Not a single thing in the video is beyond the realm of possibility, and for anyone who was warned about strangers as a kid, has kids, or in general wants to protect the innocent, the moment they see the house you know what is going to happen and it terrifies you. Still, throughout the episode you hold onto this hope and idea of “This is terrifying but surely they’ll get out fine. It’ll be a fake out, or maybe they’ll get attacked but escape.” That idea then turns to “Maybe Tammy will escape, there’s no way he’d kill then both.” and finally to the deep pit feeling in your stomach as you realize that these two innocent characters, ones you thought were incapable of being harmed due to how media typically writes children characters, have undergone truly horrible fates and will receive no justice. It is masterful, and genuinely left me shaken for days after I watched it. Sorry for leaving such a long reply but I felt like I had to break down some of the things I enjoyed about the video. I love your videos by the way and I’m excited to see more! Love your new avatar too!
Watching Pastra's vid was the first time i saw TMH, I thought it was just gonna be a classic children's kidnapping, the concept didn't rlly scare me. But as the video progresses, I got way too attached with these kids just from the voice acting. Martin does a great job in giving Tammy and Ducky a very disney-ish feel to them, they cud have a whole series centered around their fun adventures. Also, usually the children in horror stories realize too late that something is clearly wrong or they are in danger. Tammy and Ducky proposed to leave as its getting late already, and when the Pumpkin Rabbit starts talking, they are aware of the disturbing demeanor that he gives off too. They're also not just blindly agreeing to stay. Pumpkin Rabbit was subtly assertive in his tone, it almost felt like he was holding these kids at gunshot, to stay the night at the house. At that point, I had this depressing feeling that they're not gonna safely make it out of this house. I was horrified for myself and these kids that my hunch turned out right..
I really like your character! It reminds me of these little drawings of disfigured, melted, and mutated people I like to call the broken. The main things that reminds me of these is the large, inhuman smile. Although, these people have a seemingly empty void inside their mouths, surrounded by long, sharp, teeth, which look like they’re made of badly molded metal.
Man I made the mistake of bingeing the Walten Files before being put under for surgery and wound up thinking I saw a rabbit silhouette as I was waking up and started babbling about the entire lore to the poor nurse with a mouthful of gauze
I can’t help but laugh and feel bad at the same time. Hehehe.
I thought you were gonna bring up that you were in a perpetual nightmare, where you experienced the horrors that the kids went through over and over and again and again and again and again

@@nitropriest4161 fair point
Might be that they refused and the pumpkin rabbit let them go, but he's a big strong animatronic that can probably run at 20 miles per hour. Maybe it just adds to his sick twisted version of happiness to cause a very preventable death. I don't really know.

The best thing about Pumpkin Rabbit for me is he’s not part of the trope as “normal person that turns out to be a serial killer.” It’s INSTANTLY obvious that he’s fucked up and the antagonist. But the best part is the question is NOT “Is this guy bad?” The question is “How bad is this guy?” And when he’s shown mutilating children and turning them into unrecognizable husks, it shows just how horrifying he is.

especially since those faces kinda references the way the springlocks in the suits stretches out the person inside.
and the fact that their corpses had to be crushed in order to fit inside the animatronics, the skin had to be warped and streched for it to fit on the endoskeleton, that's worse than being springlocked

Holy crap that's unsettling!

WAIT WHAT. I NEVER KNEW STREETS OF CAIRO WAS SO DARK
Wait I thought those lyrics meant the maid was SA'D

It makes you wonder what were the other childrens’ last words.

When I first saw TMH, it was so tense and unsettling because you just KNOW that those two kids weren't going to have a happy ending.

Either them;
1. Slowly, almost teasingly or savouringly shambling closer to you, taking their sweet ass time,
or,
2. Somehow even worse than the previous because of how uncanny and inhuman and fast it is--
where they just stay still as a long-dead corpse,
or machine, or statue,
or something put on pause unnaturally in time,
and then they just glitch forward closer towards you, seeming to "step in frames" to "move" towards you by crossing bounds and bounds of distance with just like, three frames of stillness getting closer so fucking quick that it chills you to your core.
Just a heads up for those who didn't catch it. The Mysterious house and Boozoo's ghosts are not connected to the walten files and are their own thing. Concepts may be used over in the walten files series but there is no direct lore connection.
The scariest part to me was Tammy's reaction to the truth. A lot of horror protagonists seem cold or distant because you're supposed to react for them, but seeing her cringe and burst into tears at what she's looking at was absolutely gut-wrenching
i think the scariest thing about the pumpkin rabbit is how you can hear the smile in his voice when he was convincing tammy and ducky to stay over
DUDE UR CHARACTER IS SICK!! It's a great play on the classic one frame reaction characters but it looks so unique and spooky.
Agreed!!!
Well, I feel that the stills need to be a bit more expressive and should have more… emotions, I guess. It currently has potential but I feel is just too filled with just the simple smile and eyes, trying to spook you instead of actually expressing how the creator feels.
I think you should look at someone like Spoctor’s channel, as I feel his stills are almost perfect, and the short bounce effect to make it feel more alive.

honestly it took me a few minutes to stop staring at that beautiful design and their poses and to fully listen to what was being said.

And also, the fact that the Pumpkin Rabbit was in the room with them the entire time as seen in the beginning of the suspense part where you can see his face glaring over at Tammy on the slightly open door of the room,it creates this more unsettling and sadistic character for him and i freaking love it.
Oh ouch I never thought about Duckie's last words being him screaming for Tammie. This makes the video one thousand times scarier.
We do see Witch Sha following Tammie and backing her into the closet, and she’s covered in blood, implying she helped PR skin Duckie
She seems to be converted into an animatronic. She might not be capable of dissobeying…
That's a sheep? I thought it was a gray poodle. 🐩
idk if anyone has said this yet but the pumpkin in the beginning of the episode has the same expression of tammy once she gets deformed :)
this is terrifying because it implies that after he kills his victims (or maybe it was just Tammy idk) the pumpkin rabbit carves the expression of said victim to in a way remember them by witch is downright morbid
Something I love personally about The Pumpkin Rabbit, is his resemblance to Spring Bonnie. They share a similar appearance, yet the Pumpkin Rabbit easily stands out as his own character and, in my opinion, an even scarier one. I'd also like to think of it as maybe a nod or a wink to the series that inspired the Walten files in the first place
this vid is my first introduction to the pumpkin rabbit, as soon i saw his colour scheme, i just knew he was evil without any dialogue 😭

The thing I like most about TWF is it actually feels like you’re watching abandoned VHS tapes.

Brian Smells was killed for using GTA font

Considering what was just revealed in the sequel, how does it feel being half right about this theory?

My absolute favourite goddamn thing about Pumpkin Rabbit, is the slow burn as you see him walk behind Tammy, slowly creeping into the foreground and eventually locking her in the room with the corpses
It's the same level of horror as the original Halloween, and I say that specifically because Michael in the original Halloween is utilized as a background detail very well. From scenes where his mask is just off center of the camera shot, lurking in the shadows, to the quintessential moment of him almost robotically getting up and looking at Laurie who's the focal point of the shot, and by extension looking directly at the audience.

Their voices are just the rabbit the entire time.
one of my favorite parts of the walten files is in "lucky you" when the text says "THEY DANCE TO THE MUSIC" with the sha endo flailing its body and arms around in pure agony, i dont know why but it gives me chills every time
nah he just vibin to the song
Yeah... I have no doubt that it's terrifying, but the mental image that gives me is hilarious
Hehehehehehehehehe
Especially knowing Rosemary's death. She definitely had by far the worst one. Her screams are just so terrifying.
@@GnarlyTrashFire hahahahaa that's funny dude her death was instant, the screams were in anticipation for the murder.
(Though I agree her face is the most horrifying thing in the series for me)
@@kiera6326 hm, I thought she was the one. Tell me if I’m wrong.
@@dragonguy3725 I’m pretty sure it’s Hillary that dies, though I might be wrong
Susan appears in the third episode, she is inside bannie, in the second one is rosemary walten in sha the lamb
oh and Ashley in Billy the clown is in the second one too
I've seen TWF around a dozen times by now, & I NEVER REALIZED that the Pumpkin Rabbit was mimicking the victim's voices... ESPECIALLY Tammy's at the very end. Holy shit, that is so chilling; I love it!
The “What have you done” now appears almost mocking in retrospect
I know right?! I thought that was her saying that again but that was him! It was so chilling! I didn't know that until I saw this, holy shit man!
Who’s gonna tell pastra that the Pumpkin Rabbit returned
I had no idea what I was getting into, which made the ending that much more impactful to me
My intro as well
I feel bad for you…very extremely bad for you
My introduction to the Walten files was Nexpo's video
It takes a large sum of horror to make me scared. Not much to be unsettled but I deal with that most days( really old house 150+ years. Used too be a barn, many occupance. Another barn burned down on the hill and killed a lot of animals. Definitely sus maybe haunted.)
I for some reason can’t watch the Walten Files videos themselves but am so fascinated by the theories and video essays about them. It’s the only way I’m able to watch them so I love videos like these. The formatting of this one is so good and I’ve watched some of your others and they’re so good :)
Just put a video on and leave it muted if its too scary. So much of fear is in good sound design.
Off topic, but who makes the art for your thumbnails and sprites? I'm really intrigued by the artstyle, it's very menacing and I like it a lot!
I make all the art for my videos!
@@Pastraspec Oh that is amazing! Your artsyle is so unique and eye catching for me and I really enjoy how it looks! Fo you have any site where I can see more of your artwork? Asking for a friend 👀
@@Pastraspec your art is amazing, point blank period.
@@Pastraspec You're extremely talented. Can't wait to see more of your work! 😁
When I saw the art I was strate up terrified
There's something so endearing about your character being so terrifying and nightmarish but having such a normal voice, absolutely love it and your vids, keep up the good work
Plus, the character's name is _Clyde._ That's such a _normal_ name, it's hard to find him scary.
It’s the shining carpet for me, I love how in so many horror media, not just this, that you can still find that pattern. Kinda spooky and cool :>
Might need to do a Sequel to this video Pastra. We just got another banger The Martin Himself.
You can say "Does not look easily approachable"
@@doxodd6834 Clyde is the mascot for pastra's channel :)
@@sorachi8788 thank you
It took me a while to figure out who Clyde was for a sec because the Clyde that came to mind was Clyde the orange ghost form Pac-Man
the thing about tmh is that it encapsulates every parent’s worse fear of their kids going into some house and not making it out alive
Not the first guy to point this out but Tammy's face at the end perfectly matches the pumpkin at the beginning
I was horrified for myself and these kids that my hunch turned out right..
man i wish i didn’t read this before watching the video

I really like your character! It reminds me of these little drawings of disfigured, melted, and mutated people I like to call the broken. The main things that reminds me of these is the large, inhuman smile. Although, these people have a seemingly empty void inside their mouths, surrounded by long, sharp, teeth, which look like they’re made of badly molded metal.
