What a beautifully made tool to fluff up the fibres! Thanks for demonstrating its usage...

Do you know if this device would work with hemp? I know it’s a different process to get to this point but iv only ever see. People use blocks with nails so this looks waayyy easier

If hemp is processed like flax then I don’t think the swing picker would work. The plant fibers are just too long and would create knots with the swing of the picker. They need to be drawn through the block of nails to break off the outer woody stem to get out the fine fibers underneath. Even with animal fibers I wouldn’t use the swing picker for anything over 6” and would run samples though for anything over 4” just to see if the process is working correctly.

Could you show how much rubbish came out of those wool and also where the machine collect them? Thanks

Yes, next time I use the swing picker I’ll do a close up of the debris that collects at the bottom of the machine.

What's the purpose behind doing this process?

Breaks up the clumps and fluffs up the wool so it loads quickly and easily on to the drum carder.
