As a full time voice actor, I find it incredibly ironic how excited fellow artists/creators or “filmmakers” get over AI tools that replace an incredibly human and creative element, like voiceover. I wonder how he’d feel when Artlist releases a generative AI video footage tool. Upload a few photos of a your client’s office. Photos of the CEO and staff. 30 second samples of each of their voice. Prompt: Make a 3 minute corporate video where the CEO talks about the 20% growth his company has made. Play b-roll of staff working on laptops, thinking, collaborating, laughing. Add uplifting piano music bed. Then what are you? An AI Producer? 🤷♂️ I get the value when trying to flesh out ideas in pre production. But when used in the final product? Where do you draw the line as a fellow artist? 😔
AI has a long way to go to replace humans in creativity. There's no emotion, no control, no organic feeling to it. The pictures come out crappy 75% of the time. It doesn't do what the prompt tells it to do, not to the exact detail. It cannot draw hands at all, it messes up simple instructions as to make the person wear a denim jacket. The quality still *screams* out digital and fake. In order to come as close to possible to reality the prompter will need a lot of patience and adjustments. It's not as simple as "A picture of a man and a woman driving a car in the rain, front view'', do that and the AI will give you subpar results. The voices still sound robotic and lack emotion and articulation which only a human can provide. And the delivery of words still needs some work. Same applies to music. The instrumentals are sick though, I'll give it points for that. AI sure as hell cannot make videos. Take a look at the Will Smith eating spaghetti video, its a complete mess. And there's a video of Joe Biden promoting a Dairy Queen. It's really unrealistic. Both of these examples are under a minute long, go ahead and look at it. Then think. Will "Make a 3 minute corporate video where the CEO talks about the 20% growth his company has made. Play b-roll of staff working on laptops, thinking, collaborating, laughing. Add uplifting piano music bed." look good at all? What the hell is "uplifting piano music bed"?
I'm a filmmaker and many times I have a hard time finding an actor or voice actor. And even harder is to find the perfect cast, a match for the role you want. AI voices would solve that problem - if they would be able to act, but of course we don't have that for now. And yes, I think in time I'm expecting to be replaced probably by an AI. It seems we are heading in that direction.
You don't draw the line. Innovation will happen whether you like it or not. You accept it and learn how to leverage new tools and ideas or you reject it and get left behind.
Yes it‘s amazing. BUT I want AI to do all the tedious stuff for me (like my laundry for example), so I have more time to be an artist. Instead we are using AI to kill every artistic job and yes, I believe recording a voice over is also an artists job. I don‘t know, instead of using it for the soulless stuff we are replacing everything that should me linked to emotions by AI, it seems a little backwards to me…
Agreed! While the technology is amazing, we should be using AI to make our workflow easier, not eliminate jobs. I know real voice acting professionals and this seems scary for their careers.
Looks like a promising start. When you contrast the presenter with massive over-emphasis and large hand movements with the monotone of the actual example, it kind of emphasizes how the emotion and emphasis on the correct parts is still missing.
Isn’t it a wild tool?! I was blown away as well. 🤯Though sometimes there are some funny hallucinations… especially when using multiple punctuation!!! 😂 …
I had a play with it yesterday, personally I wouldn't say it's "quite" there yet. But for a first day launch it is absolutely insane. Every other VO generation I get sounds quite digital, but for the times it gets it right, holy cow. My worry is that a lot of narrative driven/voice replacement/filler ADR content will start to sound similar. But I suppose if platforms like Artlist are constantly updating with new voices that would alleviate that problem. Nice to see you again James!
I feel like your channel has become one big ad read. You rarely do videos without the purpose of promoting a specific sponsored product. Really like your stuff, just wanted to get this off my chest.
James is one of the realest creators I’ve ever met. There’s 0 shame in advertising in his videos. If anything, I’d be happy to see him advertise more - that way I know he’s on a roll! Keep killing it James!
I just wish they had a way to get more than 50,000 credits (letters/characters) per month. You can't purchase more when you run out each month. Hopefully they change this soon. I guess you could purchase two or more subscriptions, but then you are paying annually for each, and it would be a hassle to keep up with.
Cutters love AI voiceovers. Because I am not a voice actor. And it makes stuff very fast and easy. 😅 But I fear when AI scene cutting arrives they might feel very different about AI pretty sudden. 😂
and like that, loads of jobs are gone... and those who remain will have to drop their rates. producers will otherwise threaten to use AI... AI is and will be useful in a lot of fields (historical research, medical...) but this is not it.
Gonna replace actors and VO artists and filmmakers are only a few steps behind. Use this as a creator and you're ushering in the demise of your own industry and art form
I find it ironic that content creators who make a living from their creativity find something like this fascinating. I understand it, but I don't share it. (Disclaimer: I am a voice actor who like you, has paid tons of money to build a career and a studio).
It sound good, for English market, but in Latín américa it does not works, works in markets as Perú, where voces have a specific tone, sound and way to speak, and despiste brands as Artlist, etc. Know limitations of their apps, they are not interested on give a better service, they ignore the enormous market here in the south of the world there is.
is there a james matthews voice? id have a lot of fun with that one.
This is too good. I refuse to believe it's not just voice over artists just sitting there waiting for prompts to come through and they speak them. 🤯
😂 The Artlist LumpaLumpa’s are working away in platform
Dude this is BRILLIANT, the way you pitched the voices around with the music. I love this ahaha

The boyssss back! Insane. This is a game changer..

Amazing voices. No way to tell the difference. Wow!!
Man, this was emotional! Such a beautiful edit.
What is the track please artist at the start of the vid ?!
Curious about the intro song as well. Thanks!
@@justinmichau8543 I found stuff similar on Artist. JM loves a bit of Artlist, Genre Electronic!

Nice to see you again James!
That intro though! Love all the new tools available to us, especially when they actually help with workflow.
Good to see ya back brotha ..
The shot at 1:04 was insane. Immediately hit the subscribe button. Great work.
Check out my short film Dive, it’s from the film 😊
@@Jamesmatthews Great short film, keep up the great work.
I agree!!
Jimmy strikes back! LOVE ITT!
Could not hear the VO well under the music in the example but this is amazing
That intro sequence was absolutely insane, mate!
My man hiked up to Hesten to see the iconic Segla peak! Love those views, the coolest place i've ever been to.
Should have inserted a Ron Burgundy segment with it sounding like a question without a full stop.
Here for a JM voiceover! Also skills on the low pass :O never thought of doing that!
James u are one of the best content creator on the platform. You need to upload more often your videos are always brilliant.
Imagine this for Audiobooks.
Scary and cool at the same time.
AI is getting a way where it should be stopped. Now.

just watched this YT , i found the Artlist AI voice has the most beautiful and specical voice than i can't find at all other AI voice tools @@
Dude, that’s so good 🙌

try using a comma before 'mate'! it will probably put in that natural pause that was missing
AI voice over can’t sound epic… “hold my beer mate…” 😮👏👏🤜
The affiliate installs a ton of trust in your opinion
noooooooo.. hire voiceover actors
This is cheap 😅
@@sunnymeee Yep and this is how art dies. No more unique human creativity, just people opting for default AI models because it's more affordable.
Missed your vids mate. Whats that intro track ?

Love me some James Matthews.
If they drop James Matthews Voice over, I'm upgrading my Artlist mate.
need one in spanish that will be awesome
Really cool. What is the name of the track?
How many languages do they have support for?
Nature true is nature true 💪 Strange days for me, like from crazy dream..

Artists of artlist by permission like you see stock footages submitted by original person or for music
Do we have other language like Spanish? or not yet?
James your brilliant xnan❤
Can you get the voice to scream?
😨👌🏼

You omitted an important fact about buying credit for your AI generated voice over, which is a little bit daunting.
VERY sad for future VO actors
Another great video mate, you still owe me a favour btw, when I lend you my laptop when you was in Cornwall couple yers back, don’t forget ;)
Haha brother I’d never forget! I owe you a 🍺 or two
Did people actually have tried?
I just did, and they sound very fake.
Nothing like the video or the preview.
Voice-over artists are panicking 😂
This is disappointing. Why AI?
