Here, as well as other similar channels, we get 45 minutes to a hour's worth of uninterrupted discussion. What a relief still find formats such as these! I once used a stopwatch to time the add intervals from the evening news and was astonished to learn: 1. How many Pharma adds are run, 2. We would not know of these differences and allegiances in America if the pot had not been so stirred. I don't hate the left, the right, or anything in between. I abhor tyranny. I despise any one or any system who would take my personal liberty. The US Constitution's Bill of Rights is a basis for judgement and, as citizens, the one set of principles (along with a common moral code) upon which we must agree - otherwise we die. Anarchy, socialism, marxism, communism and fascism do not translate to Liberty. The argument of any side, should it settle on our neck, cannot be met with tolerance, peace, love and understanding. It must be destroyed. When I see students and others being bludgeoned and killed in the streets of Hong Kong by those with POLICE stamped upon their backs, I have two reactions. The first, that it's revolting. The second, that it's pathetic there's no revolt. These citizens fail to meet arms with equal arms. The Chinese Communist system does not value human life, even of its own citizens. The American system, what's left of it, does. (I admit utilitarianism is a strong component of our government ethos, and this is dangerous). Evil arrives slowly. We give a little more for peace. Then, it's too late. Are we there yet?

Good discussion, but with regards to the end comments about the "middle ground," there can be no middle ground between Truth and Lies. It's either one or the other. One could traditionally have rightly said that differences of opinions could be bridged through dialogue and mutual understanding, but we are way. way past that point right now. It's too late. One side has decided that giving in to their most insane emotions is the way ahead, and there can be only one response to this: NO! This is a civil war we are in. Either Good or Evil will triumph. I think the vast majority of people in the US mean well, and that the Evil side has just overplayed its hand and revealed too much of their true agenda, but I would take nothing for granted. On the subject of communist agitation fostering division, here's another perspective: it also serves to clarify. We would not know of these differences and allegiances in America if the pot had not been so stirred.
I don't hate the left, the right, or anything in between. I abhor tyranny. I despise any one or any system who would take my personal liberty. The US Constitution's Bill of Rights is a basis for judgement and, as citizens, the one set of principles (along with a common moral code) upon which we must agree - otherwise we die. Anarchy, socialism, marxism, communism and fascism do not translate to Liberty. The argument of any side, should it settle on our neck, cannot be met with tolerance, peace, love and understanding. It must be destroyed.
When I see students and others being bludgeoned and killed in the streets of Hong Kong by those with POLICE stamped upon their backs, I have two reactions. The first, that it's revolting. The second, that it's pathetic there's no revolt. These citizens fail to meet arms with equal arms. The Chinese Communist system does not value human life, even of its own citizens. The American system, what's left of it, does. (I admit utilitarianism is a strong component of our government ethos, and this is dangerous).

I think American culture is above American society. And we need to define, discuss and promote the American culture and how individuals and groups can support and promote it. We should endeavor to bring society up to the standard ideal of American culture. The first 10 Amendments are a major part of American culture, but there are many other important elements that can be extolled, especially justice before the law, as well as the security of a law and order society.
The American culture we already have is actually as close to a worldly utopia that’s ever existed that our current revolutionaries and dissidents are trying to replace it with. Good discussion, but with regards to the end comments about the "middle ground," there can be no middle ground between Truth and Lies. It's either one or the other. One could traditionally have rightly said that differences of opinions could be bridged through dialogue and mutual understanding, but we are way. way past that point right now. It's too late. One side has decided that giving in to their most insane emotions is the way ahead, and there can be only one response to this: NO! This is a civil war we are in. Either Good or Evil will triumph. I think the vast majority of people in the US mean well, and that the Evil side has just overplayed its hand and revealed too much of their true agenda, but I would take nothing for granted. I had a schoolteacher friend in the 70s who was a big fan of Eric Hoffer’s True Believer but now I regret not reading it having now come across these great quotes. I have read his Wikipedia page which is sad. A lot of his quotes apply to these protesters. Some or X-amount of them are bored, tired of being stuck in a rut, want to be part of history, influenced by peer pressure, looking for excitement, think it’s a party, etc. The rest are ignorant apparently that the American Revolution already took place and we’ve got the greatest culture ever developed. The first 10 Amendments are a major part, but there are many other important elements that can be extolled, especially equal justice before the law, as well as the security of a law and order society, patriotic reverence for military sacrifices, free enterprise and market economy, separation of powers, etc, etc. That’s not to say they can’t work for societal improvements if any are needed.
