The presenter is fantastic! It's such a treat to listen to someone who knows what he is talking about and can explain it such that a novice can understand. And such talent makes listening a pleasure.
As a new keyboard player and wanting something light to carry with my horn gear, the MX49 gives me everything I need in such a compact device. The voicing are amazing.
One of the very best demos of a musical instrument I've ever seen. Played one of these today at GC (the 49), and I'll be back tomorrow to pick it up. Very cool.
He's dead on accurate. I bought it and I've figured out the cubase integration, and the keyboard really does offset the workload so that my 5 year old macbook air has no problem building a complex song. Just stick to midi tracks so that the computer isn't processing any sound. I'm happy with the mx49. And this was the video that convinced me
Its funny. The keyboard sounds great and all, but the thing that really impressed me was the presenter. I'm glad that other people also recognized the guys skill in explaining the features.
From UK...a couple of hours ago I had a demo from a local shop and was v poor and I was disappointed with the MX... after this demo by a great pro....I'm gonna check it out again....many thanks John
This is the best product demo I've seen, and like others, I've seen MANY. Thank you for a perfectly explained video of a board I was on the fence about, but am now ready to buy.
This is the best presentation of a product that i have ever seen. You just sold me a yamaha mx49 or mx61. Im going to buy 1 of the 2 as soon as i finish typing this.
I know this was 5 yrs ago. But this keyboard is in my Motif series of collections of keuboards and i use it daily. Awesome sounds. I also have the M06,MM6,i have this MX49 the MOXF6 and the MOX6 along with my MODX7. I also Pocess is a Hammond XB2,XK-1,XM1 Roland VK7 and Korg CX3 and BX3 2001 versions digital ones all my sounds
This is honestly the best intro to/product demo video for a synthesizer keyboard that I've seen - Well done! I bought an MX 49 back in October 2013 in no small part because of *this* video.
Wow Phil is great! So glad l clicked on this video. A MUST listen in on layering sounds starts at 08.50 a dream this keyboard will soon grace my tiny studio in Germany
Just got mine last week. As a fellow pianist/musician, I humbly thank you for sharing your knowledge, musicianship, and (obviously) your passion of instruments and "music making" with us all. Keep up all of your work! On another note, Wish I could have a jam session with ya! Your sound is phat man!
Wow. The best, most understandable case I've ever heard for purchasing a synth like this instead of simply a keyboard controller. Excellent video. Excellent synth.
I just want to reiterate what others have said- the presenter (I'll go back to learn his name- he earned it) is the best I've seen ... I never felt like I was being sold, but his presentation sold me.
Me too! this guy is a legend! Good salesperson... never met him. Instantly like him... and he's amazing on the MX61. Looking forward to playing with this new puppy
I loved this so much. and if you wait to the very end you get the funniest bit, "Its sanity, the sanity button" just love the expression on his face! Good job man! I want one. Why have I been buying only Arturia keyboards all this time I'll never know. This is affordable and just brilliant sounds.
I rarely comment... But, my hat is off to you sir... I've been looking for a good synthesizer for months now and almost All of the reviews that say in depth are Not actually in depth and I'm left with sometimes more answers than before I watched it...This time that is not the case... This was by far the Most helpful review/demo... This keyboard synthesizer is definitely top on my list along with a few from Korg and Roland. Thanks for this one...
The connectivity (audio and MIDI) interface through a single USB at around 2:45 on this video was particularly helpful - more so than Yamaha's own web site!! I agree with other comments - excellent video and thanks.
this is way late but if anyone that wants to mod some of the sounds, the John Melas Sound driver is amazing for this Keyboard and really pushes this thing to the limits and does things that i didnt think this keyboard was capable of doing
Does the MX have General MIDI, XG, and/or TG300B (Roland GS) modes? I'd like to revisit some archived MIDI files from long ago and am thinking this might be a better deal than trying to hunt down a used and worn-out MU1000/2000EX or a pricy used MOTIF ES/XS rack.
Great performer. Great explanation of the product. Great guy. Thank you so much for your time and your music samples are great as well. I'll definitely get one MX49 for myself.
Best demo ever. Thanks for showing the simple sounds like piano, Hammond organ (stereo) etc. So many demos show way too much synth nonsense. Love the "it's the attention to detail" that this keyboard has to offer. You sold me!...once I get it past my wife LOL
Something we don't talk about but need to. As you get older, and arthritis creeps in, you'll develop a real appreciation for synth style keyboards over piano style.
This demo was on point. 👍 Was deciding between this and the Roland GO KEYS... Yeah this is twice the price, but after this demo, I'm leaning towards this Yamaha.
The Yamaha MX49 is much better and has the better sounds! You can't edit anything on the Roland! Only the onboard 6 channel sequencer is interesting. But it only works in real time! The Yamaha is definitely the better keyboard 😊
@@ttt-toms_tipps_tricks Thanks for the confirmation! (Actually looking at the 61 key version as I'm looking at it for actually taking "piano lessons" and most local instructors are recommending 61 keys. ) So yeah, I just watched a demo of the Roland goKeys, I don't think I'll need random "swing jazz" rhythm accompaniment, a sequencer that any DAW software can do, or that horrible ribbon for a pitch bend wheel. Definitely getting the Yamaha!
Wow, I got chewed out for liking this man and his talent. Hey, I'm not married, YOU can't chew me out. It's all good. We don't all have to like this demo but I'd pay real money to see this man even as a soloist performing because He is cool and his talent is obvious. I don't know what anyone could do to present this keyboard any better.
Ok I dont care for Phil's playing. However, it does not help him that he is generating those aweful horn sounds and completely congested accompaniment. Does Yamaha believe these horrible tones help sell this garbage? His playing is choppy, at best. As for your being in a balloon. . . Chase all the rainbows you want. You are still you.
Yes..past demos with yourself have been with background noise and you cant really hear the keyboard...This is much better...Thank you so much you have made my mind up..i will buy an MX to accompany my Korg Triton...Ta
What a great presentation! I just pulled the trigger on a Reface CP. I’m thinking about sending it back and getting this. If not this will be my next keyboard purchase.
A far richer sound than the Korg Kross, no contest. I have heard that the MX has no Hammond overdrive setting, however you can do one of two things to fix this, run via external effects unit or use the YCB3 Hammond software comes with the keyboard. I only say this as I hate using laptops live so always plug external effects into my keys.
I agree Mr Phil helped convince me to purchase a Moxf synth I used in Branson as my second KB. It's been a few years but I'm buying the next one for my daughter. Go MOTIF TONES. Love the B3 with rotary! He's got more soul than this white boy! Thanks Phil
How can we say "no compromise" at minute 13:36? Per voice memory comparison: Yamaha MX49: ~0.15 MB (150 KB) per voice. Yamaha Motif XF: ~0.72 MB (720 KB) per voice. It’s clear the Motif XF offers more detailed and expressive sounds with its higher memory allocation per voice.
Excellent demo that would have been enhanced by overhead shots of what Dr. Clendenin was doing on the panel. And using a clip on mic rather than one in his face.
When Phil says this is light weight he is not kidding. At 10 lbs. and ALL plastic construction with reduced keyboard key spacing a friend asked me if it took batteries. It doesn't. But if you use this thing at all you will all but want to cement it to your stand. This is because the design of the underside is molded and designed for tabletop use, much like a computer accessory. That said, the keyboard has some very compelling features and sounds. It is also clear that the reduced cost came, in part from a sacrice in structure.
I've been looking for a second keyboard to have in addition to my Yamaha MO8; almost definitely gonna get this one. Honestly, I wish I could get an 88 key one of these things; it looks so much simpler to use than the MO, not to mention the seamless part switching and the 128 polyphony.
"Life Itself Is In Stereo, This Is Why You Have Two Ears...." Best Quote I've Heard All Day.
How do I ensure stereo sound by using TRS cables and utilizing the right and left outputs?
Jarvis Ewing how do I ensure the stereo sound on the MX61 by using TRS cables with the left and right outputs?
Totally agree
The presenter is fantastic! It's such a treat to listen to someone who knows what he is talking about and can explain it such that a novice can understand. And such talent makes listening a pleasure.
YOU are what presenting is all about - YAMAHA are lucky to have you :)
Yamaha's Best Product Rep...Great Demo.
John Doe im voting him for president!
I picked up a 49 a couple of years ago, still love what you can get out of this board.😁🎶🎹🎶Play On
2020 I’m just now getting mines and today it’s still more than enough. BTW This was the BEST MAN CHOSEN FOR THIS DEMO
howd it work out for u?
As a new keyboard player and wanting something light to carry with my horn gear, the MX49 gives me everything I need in such a compact device. The voicing are amazing.
I want this fella to do every product demo for everything in the future!
One of the very best demos of a musical instrument I've ever seen. Played one of these today at GC (the 49), and I'll be back tomorrow to pick it up. Very cool.
Thank you Phil, Its a pleasure to hear you playing!

does it work with fl
Which one do u think is better
Its been said many times, I'll say it again: great demonstration, I truly feel like I learned something about the product.
Very talented and excellent presenter, probably the best I have ever seen and I watch a lot of demos.
James Taffae I so agree!
Phil is a very knowledgeable and the man can play.....he released an album back in tha day.
Best 15 minutes I've spent in a long time. Thanks, Phil!
I'd buy anything from this man.
Thanks for this demo - I've watched dozens on the MX61 and you make it easy, informative and exciting!!
Its funny. The keyboard sounds great and all, but the thing that really impressed me was the presenter. I'm glad that other people also recognized the guys skill in explaining the features.
I opted for this keyboard because it fits my needs, but mainly thanks to this charming demonstrator. Thank you, man!
From UK...a couple of hours ago I had a demo from a local shop and was v poor and I was disappointed with the MX... after this demo by a great pro....I'm gonna check it out again....many thanks John

Amazing demonstration. Thanks for covering so much.
One of the most knowledgeable and talented presenters in the business.

Your piano playing was just amazing... More please! This instrument sounds great and I'll purchase it based on this great video.

Phil, professional demo, I am on my way to the music store right now!
The best overview I have seen - he is simply outstanding.
This exactly what I have been looking for. Sound is incredible without a doubt as it's a Yamaha. Layer feature makes it more fun.
I bought one because of this video. No lie
Me too! What is it with this guy?! :P
Where u got it
I am looking one to presets
New or used.. Help plz
@@javaughnwilson7289 I dnt know if it's too late but I got mine from sam ash. But guitar center and sweetwater carry it too
Me too! this guy is a legend!
Good salesperson... never met him. Instantly like him... and he's amazing on the MX61. Looking forward to playing with this new puppy
Me too
I know this video is really old but... exactly the info i was looking for. Great demo. Thank you.
I loved this so much. and if you wait to the very end you get the funniest bit, "Its sanity, the sanity button" just love the expression on his face! Good job man! I want one. Why have I been buying only Arturia keyboards all this time I'll never know. This is affordable and just brilliant sounds.
What a great presentation from a smart man. Wish I took piano lessons. Phil Clendeninn, you are Cool!
Music theory makes way more sense than piano lessons. With that, you can play literally anything.
I just got a MX61, an amazing instrument for such a low price! Thanks Yamaha. Thanks for the excellent demo.
Whatever Yamaha pay this guy it's not enough!!!
I rarely comment... But, my hat is off to you sir... This was by far the Most helpful review/demo... This keyboard synthesizer is definitely top on my list along with a few from Korg and Roland. Thanks for this one...
He played with the group Tarika Blue. Great subject matter expert...I’m sold.
This is the video that made me buy my MX49.
The connectivity (audio and MIDI) interface through a single USB at around 2:45 on this video was particularly helpful - more so than Yamaha's own web site!! I agree with other comments - excellent video and thanks.
I would watch this man talk about anything
this is way late but if anyone that wants to mod some of the sounds, the John Melas Sound driver is amazing for this Keyboard and really pushes this thing to the limits and does things that i didnt think this keyboard was capable of doing
All I can say is this synth sounds great an it has all the instruments with absolutely great quality I need.
When he started playing the guitar sounds I was blown away...
Right at 7:21.... I keep replaying it...
I just auditioned one at a pawn shop, and I had to immediately buy it! Can't wait to get this back to cave to play with.
Phil is a great product specialist... A pleasure to listen to all his demo's
Great performer. Great explanation of the product. Great guy. Thank you so much for your time and your music samples are great as well. I'll definitely get one MX49 for myself.
As a beginner you taught me so much! You're amazing!
+Deepak Rao It's amazing! Both are amazing pieces of equipment
Only video so far that actually did a good job selling the keyboard. This actually makes me consider getting the mx a bit more.
Best demo ever. Thanks for showing the simple sounds like piano, Hammond organ (stereo) etc. So many demos show way too much synth nonsense. Love the "it's the attention to detail" that this keyboard has to offer. You sold me!...once I get it past my wife LOL
This guy knows his stuff :) it's great to hear some actual expertise in detail. Thank you for your articulation. :)
This dude makes me wanna buy this keyboard, and I don't even know how to play.
Professor Dictabeat that’s funny!
Me too:)
Buy the keyboard and then learn how!
Thankyou for this demo. Im looking at buying one of these right now. Youre demonstration really helped me make my decision.
The look he gives when he says "If you can't play it in Q flat" priceless. Very diplomatic. Great demo. Gotta get one....10 lbs. Yeah
They picked the right guy to demo this keyboard. Clearly a professional musician.
Something we don't talk about but need to. As you get older, and arthritis creeps in, you'll develop a real appreciation for synth style keyboards over piano style.

Took me 8 months, but I finally got the MX61 on the way! Fantastic!
This is the best review I’ve ever seen... sanity reset button. Love it.
Excellent video that really simplifies the complex features of this instrument. Thank you.

At 7:31 - lovely bit of EC's Change the World - made me choose an MX
Just great! I'll purchase one of these! Thanks for the demo.
this is exactly what I want , all the right features. I'm definitely buying one soon
2022 : this is still a great keyboard

Just bought the 61! This guy is awesome!
I love how he called the quick reset "sanity buttons" 😂
This guy is a true legend. The only one that can ever become better than Bert!
Great presentation + product. I just ordered the MX49 V2.
PHil your playing is AMAZING
Great idea have the sounds on a cheap board. Im getting one.
Best Yamaha MX series demo ever....
This is it,the best budget synth on the market imho,128 voice polyphony oh man i'm sold !!!
What a great presentation! I just pulled the trigger on a Reface CP. I’m thinking about sending it back and getting this. If not this will be my next keyboard purchase.
I love my MX 61. I use it daily for practice and gigs. It's the best quality small format keyboard I've ever played.
Right

Most people would just combine 2 organ sounds together to get a decent simulation it’s not that important to have that particular organ sound.
I'm SOLD! Great Video Demo BRAVO!!
Awesome video can’t wait till my mx49 arrives in the mail thanks for the inspiration
I'm very happy with my MX49.
