@@martindohnal55 Thank you. It may be sunny in California, but I live in the northern mountains where today it is snowing! This is why I love Tromsø, it doesn´t get as hot as California, and the winters due to the Gulf Stream are not much colder than what I experience here. I am planning to return to Tromsø some time in 2023. I shall see how things develop. Best wishes for the New Year!

Please keep making videos there’s a woman who makes videos about Salvard I personally would love to see the difference in the two towns I think it is so interesting your channel is going to blow up. If you just keep making the videos, her channel blew up and I’m sure many other viewers would love to see the difference of the two towns. I am one of her viewers, and now I’m one of yours because I want to see the difference in the two towns. Check out some of her videos. I would like to see you do a comparison video.

My maternal ggf was Norwegian, Thor Degerness from the island named Degerness. He became a farmer in North Dakota, USA. My Swedish ggf came to America from Lapland at the age of 7. His father changed their name from Swanson to Erickson because there were “too many” Swansons where they settled in the U.S. I wouldn’t be able to tolerate polar nights. I can barely tolerate January in the upper South, US.

I imagine for someone like me, living in the northeastern US, the short twilight-only "days" would be a bit jarring at first, but nothing compared to living in Svalbard where it's pitch-black 24/7 and you have no day/night cues during December. And Tromso's climate is similar to ours (but with cooler summers). I think in Svalbard there's like 4 hours of astronomical twilight (which just means that you can't see the faintest stars when looking through a telescope that you'd be able to see in total darkness, which for most people is indistinguishable from night).

    • @martindohnal55
