Damn, that would still suck lol as much as I love katanas, this is the exact reason why war-hammers were made. Don’t have to kill the enemy if you can concuss them on the battle field.
Indeed, especially against plate armour they weree incredible, even if the opponent didn't break anything, the dent in the armour would make it extremely hard for the Knight to maneuver, this is because plate armour was specifically made to meet the requirements of one's size perfectly.
@@reposter6434 Not necessarily. A good dent won’t put a knight out of action; if that were the case, the armor would be terribly made. Armor was, y’know, made to withstand damage? That’s why it exists.

Also if the knights were rhat well protected how come English and French armies lost when using knights? Do your research on history, you'll learn a thing or two.
@@reposter6434 The knights didn’t compose the entire armies and the knights themselves weren’t killed en masse. It’s also not like the knights weren’t taken hostage during battle. You seem to be ignorant of these facts. Tell me, what reliable sources inform you that dents in armor significantly reduce the armor’s capability? Also, knights were godlike on the battlefield due to their unparalleled protection and training. Knights were really “that well protected.” Knights didn’t die left and right on the battlefield until the discovery of useful ways to employ gunpowder on the battlefield. Sure, armor was tailor-made for the individual, but that doesn’t mean that the smallest dent to it would damage its ability to perform heinously, or even that a sizeable dent would. Also, they didn’t “come up” with warhammers. Just like sharper weapons, warhammers have been a staple of combat ever since hammers have been a thing. Every tool has been made a weapon by humans naturally. Also, warhammers weren’t strictly blunt; some had a point with which to focus energy and penetrate plate armor by focusing force into a small point. Tell me, where in God’s name did you get your information?
Yeah the heavy armor myth is very popular unfortunately. Also the myth that European swords are less sharp and heavier is such nonsense. The katana is not even a nimble sword. The point of balance is usually high up the blade which makes it quite clumsy (it’s great sword for cutting). A longsword is usually more nimble (thinner blade, point of balance is closer to the hands) and quicker to redirect.
@@spider-mancantsee5875 it does look heavy but when you wear the armor it's not like wearing a back pack if you've put on shin guards or elbow pads so you don't scrape yourself they aren't very heavy just imagine that but it holds on even better and disperses weight so we'll that if your trained you can move like there was no armor at all

@@Warsm1th12 Still, just a game, so I just chalk it up to being tacticool. It should only realistically go through Vikings who aren’t wearing anything, like Raider, and even then, you’d have to be strong as hell to get it through all the muscles and bone in a single thrust.
Honestly you don’t have to be smart to tell if a katana can cut through armor. Answer: it cant. And it’s not just the katana that can’t cut through armor. It’s called armor for a reason it’s not like a video game where a sword can just cut through armor😂
There is nothing more satisfying than watching people argue about European and Japanese weapons and armors being better than the other. But, I will point out that the tachi (not a katana due to it's length) would probably break or chip on impact with the Warren's avantail, mostly due to the construction of the mail he is wearing which at the time was riveted mail, otherwise known as the strongest type of mail there is. The damage that the orichi will do at best is probably break the Warden's neck. But it will not cut through, it could bend the riveted rings tho. But it will never cut through.

(Idk how i can real explain this really well in englisch cause im from germany but skallgrim made a Video about this topic) the second way is something you saw very often. For context, there's only 2 ways to cut something. 1. Cleaving through excessive force or 2. Cutting by pushing the blade along an object, aka, slicing. Knife don't cut if blade don't move.
Lol so true, but you are giving me mixed messages. Are you with the weebs or against them? Because your name says you’re a weeb but your comment says you aren’t.
Maces weren't the end all be all, if they were you wouldnt see a knight or a soldier who could be expected to face one without one. Maces are good weapons but plate armor is designed not only to take blows but to deflect them. Plus, plate is rigid, which means its not gonna all transfer to the wearer even if its a perfect hit. A greatsword would probably be better than a mace as a bludgeon against a knight considering it's weight
Until the knight brings in a halberd, polaxe, mace or warhammer... Also the Shugoki is unrealistic and a fictional character that didn't exist as a soldier in real life
The curve of a katana gives it a natural cutting motion granting a weighty impact so realistically, if a katana was plunged into knight armor, it would hit like a hammer
@@meatmaestro281 superior or not, it mattered about the weight. I already explained the nature of the katana so I don’t think I need to explain that it would still dent the armor A LOT.

For anyone whining, a Katana can't really do shit to plate or Mail armour, since it was designed around protecting from blade damage Even European swords would at most hurt a bit, you're better off with a bludgeon or Warhammer.
I'll simplify it with 2 main points, for those who don't know the joke. 1. Pierce weapons are the best way of getting through or past armor. The Japanese sword is made almost purely for slashing, the least effective way to defeat armor. 2. European steel was way better.
@Chad Kroeger plate came with chainmail, pluz there were almost no weakpoints with mail. The entire point of plate and chainmail being combined was so weakpoints were covered.
To be fair, the quality of European steel and Japanese steel of the medieval period were quite similar. One can have less slag inclusions than the other, and vice versa. Plus there wasn't any drastic difference in terms of how they smelted and forged metal, since they both contain common principles such as folding.
This is why bodkin arrows, Warhammers, maces, and halberds were made. Lmao. To kill a knight in full plate armor, you had to either Peirce the tin can or turn the bastard into soup.
Do you know what the Shugoki weapon is called? Being my main hero and with my basic understanding of realistic medieval combat, it's my understanding that Shugoki would have the best chance against any knight, even Lawbringer. Id say he would even be able to take out 3-4 of them before taking too much damage
@@a-badie4617 The kanabo is basically a mace. So yes, it would be great for turning a knight into soup. However, it is a 15+ pound large metal stick. This makes it unreliable as a main weapon, which is why it was used as a secondary weapon. The Samurai who used them primarily employed them for forcibly dismounting other Samurai or smashing through one or two opponent's armor before switching back to a spear or naginata.
If you aren’t Conquerer, Lawbringer, Jormungandr, Shugoki or Hitokiri, you can forget trying to kill any of the more heavily armoured knights (specifically Warden, Warmonger and Lawbringer since their armour is the best) because without a bludgeoning weapon, their armour will be practically impossible to get around and your weapons will be worthless

That damn fight made me want to throw myself off that bridge
Damn, that would still suck lol as much as I love katanas, this is the exact reason why war-hammers were made. Don’t have to kill the enemy if you can concuss them on the battle field.
Well not really XD the force itself is enough to kill ye so yeah
Indeed, especially against plate armour they weree incredible, even if the opponent didn't break anything, the dent in the armour would make it extremely hard for the Knight to maneuver, this is because plate armour was specifically made to meet the requirements of one's size perfectly.
@@reposter6434 Not necessarily. A good dent won’t put a knight out of action; if that were the case, the armor would be terribly made. Armor was, y’know, made to withstand damage? That’s why it exists.
@@jimmytang8131 You can research it if you like, knight armour was made around a knights measurements, dents in the armour significantly reduced capabilities of movement, as the armour plates are in twined together, and i didnt say the armour didnt protect the knight, of course it did but that doesn't mean the knight is invincible😂 why do you think they came up with weapons that were blunt like warhammers?
For the ones who say the armor is too heavy, search the armor backflip
Yeah plate armor was very good back in the day
Yep,it was VERY good, and the cons were very minimal to the pros.
@@arminius504 i mean, lawbringers armor looks really heavy though

The armor knights used was so effective knights dropping their weapons and throwing gauntlets was more common then you’d think it was
Wouldn’t want the gauntlets for extra damage🤣🤣🤣
If you weren’t half swording trying to jab into armor gaps, you were throwing the other knight to the ground and driving your dagger into the neck/arm pits. A lot of wrestling involved. If anyone’s curious look up Dequitem and watch some videos.
Dagger fights but yeah 😂 had to get under their armor
Your “superior armor” ain’t shit against my rock on a stick
*bonk*
Katanas were brittle. That's why when you strike, you have to hit the weak points. Cause anywhere else, with several hits that thing would break faster than my heart on Valentines.
Edit:
Aaaaaand I started a flame war... Great...
@Leon Russell
I might have used the wrong word, sorry.
I feel like it's the best way to describe it.
Cause they crack sometimes when you hit it against something too hard.
Sorry for the misunderstanding, either way.
Have a wonderful day... Or evening.
@Leon Russell in a fight against a knight kor anyone who us wearing a decent armor you may aswell drop the katana and pick up a rope, the katana has like 0 weight behind it compared to other medieval swords and would break easily in a sword fight
Big feels
@@jamjambo351 That is the most innacurate thing regarding Katana's I have ever read in my life, Katana's were not brittle, they were heavy, much heavier than you think, and they are statistically speaking, the best sword to come out of medieval times, they were better at cutting than the european longsword, and had a side specifically designed for parrying the strikes of other bladed weapons.
Literally the only thing the medieval knight sword had over a traditional japanese katana was better thrusting capabilities
@@kritikill7779 as a person who owns such swords katanas are light as fuck so much so I can use two of them in the same way as aramusha does the only heavy katana would be that nodachi that sword is impossible to wield in a athletic way
It's a fact that, in the past, japanese swords often used to slice unarmored people (rebelling peasants) and stab through gaps between the armor plates when fighting with another samurai/ronin.
It's also a fact that japanese swords rarely used on open field. Thay have a halberd called naginata and bow for open field warfare. 😁
Pardon my english.
I mean swords (japanese and european) were never realy used in wars. They need a lot of training, you can't use them in formation and they only realy work in a 1 on 1 fight or from a horse.
@@deusexmachina5769 absolutely. 9 times out of 10 they were pretty much basic infantry arms and that's it. Nothing special and less effective than something built for a specific purpose
@@deusexmachina5769 yeah if a katana was carried at all it served as a sidearm
@@deusexmachina5769 swords were more of a side arm than a main weapon.
In battlefields, pikes (super long spears) were present, large amount of yari (decently long ranged spears) battalions, and some katana groups. And not all lords can purchase full-plated armors for all troops, thus, most wore mails and budget front chest armors only.
This also can be applied to Europeans, most troops wear mails (with leather padding underneath) because full-plated armors are super expensive. Which is why Conqueror is the most accurate and realistic European soldier.
Friendly reminder that theres historical records of English knights that fought until everyone was literally exhausted and just went home without anyone being killed.
Damn, You guys actually get executions? I constantly get stabbed by a stick from canon fodder in the middle of mine
Sekiro shows this perfectly with Roberts Dad we can't hurt him at all with our little Katana against his Armor so our only choice is to go on defense and try to push him off the bridge
Remembers that there’s armor made from paper capable of stopping arrows*
Yeah, it would also stop swords.
Just know, normally the human falls from exhaustion before the armor fails. So knights carried mercy daggers to slip through the gaps of the armor.
Real life Knights were basically using Mini Power Armor. A Knigth in full armor was a 2 legged tank, absolutely scary considering Maces and Warhammer units were few, and all you had were spears and swords, that are bad counters to Knigth armor.
These motherfuckers would come in, sometimes in horses, kill all your buddies, and leave to repeat the same thing.
In "reality", it would take a really skilled samurai to even damage the knights, but even then they're better off using polearms
Samurais used Pole Arms and bows more commonly than katanas
@@chechakkimnorbirth3777 Most likely. If they are going to use a katana though, they'd mostly aim for the throat and other vulnerable parts.
Watch Skallagrim's "Why knights aren't invincible" video
@@boid9761 yeah people slightly over estimate chain mail too since a well placed thrust to the throat could still take you down cuz chainmail can save a you from lot of things but a broken neck isn't one of them
@@chechakkimnorbirth3777 If I were to pit the average knight against a literal Kensei, then obviously the Kensei would win.
It still depends on the skill of the fighter.
@@boid9761 my money would still be on the knight. The average knight is weapon of mass destruction. Extremely well trained and better equipment all around also most likely physically stronger.
Imagine arguing about the historical accuracy of different armors because of For Honor of all games. Both these characters suits are amalgamations of armors developed a few hundred years apart and features that wouldn't have been practical.
Fun fact: The crossbow is the reason metal plate armor was phased out of use as it suddenly became more important to be mobile when a crossbow bolt is going through you, armor or no armor.
Meanwhile, Shugokis chilling in the corner: Hug or Big Club?
Oh no😭
I may be Weeb but this is accurate Plated Armor was very strong it's the reason hammers became more popular due to how it can just crush the armor
Shugo would have the best chance out of the samurai because blunt weapons are the best against plate armor
Do you know what Shugoki's concussion provider is called?
@@a-badie4617The weapon itself is called a kanabō, though Shugoki's is a decent bit _girthier_ than you'd want for practical use, and he'd be in a bad spot anyway considering he's like 40% completely unarmored
@@funnyvalentinedidnothingwrongnot only that he would definitely move slower than the knight
You brought a katana when what you really needed was a Warhammer. Robert Baratheon knew this well in his younger days as a warrior.
I mean, I'm a weeb myself, but looking at how the warden basically has chainmail throughout the entire body, I already know an Orochi irl has no chance.
A kensei using a Nodachi, m a y b e.
But an Orochi using a plain old Katana? Nah.
Honestly idc about Japanese weaponry but if I had to I would much rather use a nodachi than a katana. Same style but actually worth using
The laugh edit has me dying😂😂😂
The Japanese armor also meant that the katana was useless in armor battles. But that is the case with swords in general . That’s why the used spears
Even if it didn't pass through, the weight from the impact could either break the sword but regardless cause spinal damage right below the skull.
To all the people saying it would cut through it there were sword fighting experts that reacted to these executions and even said it wouldn't go through the armor
The Katana would bend
I just finished reading the entire thread, I learned a lot thank you guys, i’ma go watch a long sword bash a katana
What? Knight armor isn’t superior? It has much, much more disadvantages than the Japanese samurai armor, and even then, the Katana is still a much more sharp and flawless weapon built for combat, that even the a knight has to be afraid of it.
For legal reasons this is a joke.
I was about to say something really harsh😃

A lot of todays guns wouldn't even shoot thru plate armor, so you would need a rifle.
@Idk ___ It's 20-25kg (45-55lbs) but it was chainmail with steel plates on top, so while a bullet of a gun would still hurt, it wouldn't penetrate.
@@deusexmachina5769
You underestimate the penetrating power of even 9mm. For exemple under the right circumstances even musket balls could pierce through plate mail. There's a reason why metal armor was tried exactly once by everyone in WW1 and then immediately dropped.
@@zebaguettefromfrance1287 a muscet is closer to a modern rifle than it is to a 9mm in terms of penetrative power.
You really underestimate the power of muscets.
Of course it would'nt cut his head straight off since chainmail is a really good protection against cuts but the blunt force on his carotid artery would propably kill him anyway
Thats the reason why knights use padded cloth alongside their metal armor.
@@ideclaredwaronyourfrenchas4123 padded cloth kept the armor from pinching. The blunt force wouldn't be completely stopped. There would be a minimum of bruising. That's if the strike wasn't directly on the chosen strike point. If it was the force would burst veins. Similar to your veins bursting when a doctor is sticking a needle in. Arteries are just as fragile. The damage would mostly be internal if any external damage was sustained. In summary, if the links aren't too weak, the force will burst important life lines and a human would have 30 seconds before they passed out from internal bleeding.
@@shadowclowngaming7305 Gambeson could dampen the blunt impact of blows though, so even if he got hit, he’d only be knocked down a bit, gambeson is a lot better than most think.

I’m pretty sure that knight would still die from the blunt force trauma to the neck or at least be paralyzed
Lawbringer would be such an overwhelming force to the enemy because of his heavy plating he'd basically be a moving tank very slow but very powerful and the way he changes his poleaxes stance when he's guarding upwards and strikes down with the back side of his weapon is very interesting

Samurai- *fine metal covered with nice leather* hmmm
Oh. So the knights armor except with a few more qeaknesses?
For those of you who don't know, medieval plate armor was invulnerable to nearly all of the enemy's attacks. Arrows, crossbow bolts, swords, axes, spears and so on. That's exactly why warhammers and maces were introduced in the first place, to fight heavily armored opponents.
Not crossbow bolts, that's part of the reason why crossbows were so well spread, considering it was the only ranged weapon (outside of welsh/English longbows) that could pierce armor
@@Aegis--- yep
@@Aegis--- still had to hit one of the weaker points but the force of being hit would fucking hurt regardless
@@Aegis--- Arrows could puncture the armor at a high enough velocity but it was dulled after the fact and when you consider that the dude would be wearing padding underneath it wouldn't even hurt.
Same thing with bolts but I imagine it would get under the padding better.
