Hi, Hong Kong 🇭🇰 SAR has both the Yellow Bittern and the Chinese Pond-Heron. Another bird I saw in addition to the Common Kingfisher, today for the first time in my life, I caught sight of the Black-Capped Kingfisher. It’s a ‘LIFER’ for me. The Black-capped Kingfisher is widely distributed in tropical Asia from India 🇮🇳 east to China 🇨🇳, Korea 🇰🇷, and Southeast Asia. I also saw, a rare moment of the Greater Coucal during my morning walk. It darted out of the thick bushes, and I was totally unprepared as it flew nearly overhead and into another dense vegetation along the thick mangroves along the beachfront promenade in the semi-rural area of the New Territories ! I was caught unprepared and was not able to take any photo nor video as it happened so quickly ! I also managed to take photos and videos of an Oriental Magpie sitting in the tree as I was walking along a street on my way home 🏡.
Your hard work and tenacity paid off - well done. I bumped into you in the car park when the Falcon was putting on a flying display, but unlike you I bailed out after about an hour and missed the action that you caught. The secret that I'm learning the hard way is having the patience to spend longer at the location. Looking forward to the next clip
@@nikonnorm yeah saw a lot of people leaving way before closing. Thought that was mad. But then maybe some only had a couple hours to spare, or had got a pic, and they were happy with that. I need to do my time in order to fill out a decent vlog 😎

Love seeing your videos at Elmley and I'm very tempted to go soon but I've never been and it's quite a drive for me. Which are the best parts of the reserve to go to?
@@stormcabbirds I often have the same issue with the R7 focussing on the foliage or the background. Lets hope that a future R7ii will have a better autofocus system. Loved your Bittern video...superb! ❤️
Great video. Although the Red-footed Falcon is super rare the highlight for me was the footage of the Bittern. A classic right time right place.

Kestrel’s head stays perfectly still while hovering. Cool stuff, never ever seen or heard of a red footed falcon. Beautiful
