I have read the manga and saw all episodes of the anime 3 times. I remember them talking about the B B murder case.

DuoReview question who is the Shinigami king, and what is his purpose throughout the series and is he the one that made the laws and if he did made the laws how did he experiments with them.
Andy Studio I don’t think that’s possible it’s not a DNA trait of the mom or dad it’s the shimmy gummy the only way I can see this happening is if the mom or dad killed the shimmy Gami well they have the eyes but that is very unlikely
Well then maybe B is actually the shinigami at the end of the anime that everyone thinks is light. This would make sense to me cause I never got the part were if light was the shinigami why would he go to Ryuk and give him an apple and ask him about himself. It would make sense if this shinigami didn't know light otherwise why ask about something he would already know.
That explains why L got all nuts when the Shinigami was brought up

L didn't actually know that BB had the shinigami eyes, he only comes up with the theory that he may have had them after the whole Kira situation started
strange how L is much more calm when he finally meets a actual shinigami. after all the freaking out he barely even cared about Rem's existence at all. I was surprised he was not more determined to get more information out of Rem, underestimating Rem's existence what he might be capable of was one of L's stupidest decisions.
Years after his arrest, it is stated that on January 21, 2004, Beyond Birthday died of a mysterious heart attack.
That was a great way to end it off. XD

He didn't just decide that being a criminal was better all of a sudden. I read the book a few years back. In it you learn just how awful of a place Wammy's House is. It is so competative that many of the kids kills themselves out of sheer pressure. They are all there just to possibly be a new L. B was supposed to become the next L. He is basically exactly like L, just like with many other kids there (Mellow is a good example), he was quite a bit more unstable than L. So he got rejected as the next L. That is when B decided that if he couldn't be the best detective in the world, he would beat the best detective in the world by becoming the worlds greatest killer.

No one would believe her
She couldn't because the death note might have started affecting her and she clearly looked like she was frozen in fear because she gave her actual name and was warning up to Light and trusted him. So she may have stopped for many different reasons and it was clear that the death note took effect without her trying to stop it.
Light told her he was kira right before the 40 seconds were up.

DuoReview Well, (Get Ready for some reading) Light really was the villain while L was the hero. The main reason Light "became God" was to cure his boredom. Now here is a bit of philosophy, most people in this world are Christians, if not a lot of people are, right? In the Deathnote universe Ryuk states that if you use the death note you can't go to heaven nor hell. First off, this tells us Christianity in the Deathnote universe is real, second this gives us the fact that morally, according to God, murder is murder and murder is a sin, so Light is the villain according to God, but not according to the people. Yet.
In the first episode, in Light's first kills, he felt guilt, he knew he would go to hell (before he knew he couldn't.) He knew he had done something horribly wrong. He tried excusing it with the "they're criminals they were just low lives." Even after that he makes up the claim that everybody else in the world wants criminals to die and they lie in public to make themselves look like they're good people.
Now let me repeat this. Light's main reason for killing was for boredom. He had no other reason, he killed innocents that tried to get in his way.
Okay, maybe you're with Light and you think he's a good person for killing criminals. Well remember the girl he made commit suicide? As she was walking away, he started mocking her knowing exactly what she was going to do.
Ryuk stated all people that use the death note live a life of fear and suffering. Because it's murder and to make up for it, they must live that horrible life. So what do you think? I'd love to hear your response, I'd love for you to make a video on it too.

So, I'm probably not going to be able to give a good full on response right now (because ironically I'm planning a video that sort of tackles this), but in a basic sense there is no good and evil for either Light or L. One of the main themes of Death Note is justice, and how it's merely a human concept that only means what the user defines it as. The same applies for good and evil. You could make moral arguments in both directions for why Light is good or evil, but in the end they only mean what you think they mean.

This explains why L freaked out by the realization of the possibility of a Shinigamini in this new investigation. Probably during the investigation with Naomi he dismissed that something as supernatural as a Shinigami was influencing Beyond Birthday considering he L was raised to be a detective that uses calculations and reasoning to sniff out his subjects not magic and he probably deducted that the difficulty of catching Beyond Birthday and his crimes was due to him being a genius much like L himself who was raised in an institution like whammy that grooms geniuses to be detectives not because of Magical powers. Its so fascinating how all this tires in. Death note is ingenious.😭

Beyond Birthday is someone I've been hoping to see a theory on for years. Especially because of the Shinigami King's right hand going by the full name of Armonia Justin Beyondormason.
I personally think BB having Shinigami eyes could be connected to the whole ritual of Light becoming a Shinigami.

You sound as though you think all this Death Note knowledge is obscure. The reason there isn't much discussion on this stuff anymore is because the series is over 14 years old and this book is 10 years old. Viz wouldn't keep this book in stores if it didn't at least sell well
It is pretty obscure compared to the anime itself. It's likely there's only a fraction of the people who've watched Death Note who are aware of any of the side material.

Part of me wishes that the Ohba Tsugumi would make a sequal to Death Note, but the rational part of me realizes that would be a bad idea, considering it would be extremely difficult to beat the original.
I didn't know about the book and I've seen Death Note 4 times.
I have had the book for quite a while. I haven't read it yet though.
I can't even find my copy right now, as I moved a couple times. I know it is somewhere in one of the boxes I have up in my cupboard.
I loved the end where L hugged Naomi. It made me laugh so hard. L ended up tumbling down a flight of stairs when she used Capoeira to kick him off. 'He was lying on his stomach like a crushed frog.' He just comments "I see, watching the videos and seeing it for real is quite different, but now I think I understand." And so L learned that style of martial arts from Naomi's suggestion earlier in book.
I know. That was a nice tie-in.

Can we all just talk about the one scene where L DID appear in the book SPOILERS for those who haven't read the Los Angeles BB Murder Case book.
L first heard about capoeira from Naomi, and he learned it by watching videos about it! However, that wasn't enough for him, so he shows up at a train station where he knows Naomi will be and pseudo-attacks her to get her to kick him down a flight of stairs...all so he can see capoeira in action! I love every scene where L does something like this with an ulterior motive.
I also loved that scene, especially since she's not even aware it's L. XD
I personally never fell for the Rue Ryuzaki is L thing; some of his character traits contradicted L's.
I loved that bit too, it felt horribly awkward 😍

Could it be a possibility that L himself had a death note, killed BB and ordered his shinigami to relinquish his ownership of the death note which eventually erases his memory, like we witnessed in the actual anime. And I'll add that L's shinigami was non other than Ryuk himself. As we all know Shinigamis are not permitted to share any information of the previous holder and whatever they could see through their shinigami Eyes? One thing I really like about B is that he doesn't act exactly like L even though he's trying to imitate him. He's a lot more extroverted and energetic. That detail just gives him so much more personality to him imo.

Something I love about Deathnote is that’s Light is the villain, he is the bad guy. However he is the protagonist. L is the good guy, however he is the antagonist. L is the “bad guy” in the anime but if you were actually there he would be the good guy. It’s amazing because we get to see inside Light’s head, we get to see his thinking, they way he acts, his intentions. He IS the protagonist, but he is also the villain, I love the mix.
Just my thought about why BB can copy L appearance, well I believe that even without makeup, BB will look atleast 70% similar to L(Doppelganger). Not only that, BB must stalk L for a long time or do a research carefully or pretty close to L to copy his mannerism too.
A weird theory: Maybe BB's mother had the Shinigami eyes herself (from making the eye deal) at the moment she gave birth to him, and/or when he was conceived, and that's why he had them .... 🍎🖊📓🍰☕🤍 I don't see how else he could have had them from birth ....
I remember from somewhere that mello said in the book that the shinigami eyes fell from the sky like a death note during the birth of BB and he ended up getting those eyes

Wait, so who is Ryuzaki if he's not L?
The first time the name Ryuzaki is used by B (Beyond) as a fake name. After the LA BB murder ends, L himself started using the Ryuzaki as an alias, which you can see in the manga and anime series.
It's confusing because most of us first learn that L uses 'Ryuzaki' since we either read the manga or watch the anime. The prequel, which is the LA BB murder book, mentions Ryuzaki to throw us off since we assumed that name belongs to L and we did not know the existence of B
Holy shit! There's an anime where this killer "B" guy exists! The anime it self is called "B-The Beginning!" And guess what too, the anime it self is kinda similar to Death Note! Here me out: In the anime, there is a *detective* like L, there are these "fallen angels" who have wings like shinigami but look human. They don't have Death notes but posses powers to shift their bodies into bladed weapons. What if these "fallen angels" are Shinigami-human hybrids. And the main character and the main villain each posses one eye that grants them God like powers. In one season finale episode (spoilers) they discussed about how their eyes can percive life expectancy or something like that. Similar shinigami eyes work too.
Edit: HOLY SHIT I JUST REALIZED SOMETHING TOO! When you mentioned that L is B, I had my doubts but just then I remembered something and googled it, *Killer B from B the Beginning looks AWFULLY allot like L in his second form!* It is a possibility that a secret past!
How does BB know when people are going to die ( 5:59 )? Aren't the numbers being shown when using the shinigami eyes only understood by real shinigamis?

It's honestly possible he never had the Shinigami Eyes in the first place and Mello speculated wrong. The _plot_ would be the same.
But I refuse to accept that because the Eyes mean things for BB as a character.
Yep, because Mello repeats what L told him, and there's a big chance that L just guessed or even lied... something which he does quite often.
On the other hand, the eyes offer a lot of psychological drama, which may explain B's character.

Mello was more so recounting L's story, not repeating everything L said. L had zero knowledge of the Death Note or Shinigami at the time, so there was no way the Shinigami Eyes were included in the story L personally told Mello. So, Mello, who has knowledge of the Death Note, must have been the one who added that to the story, not L.
L is a very smart intellectual. Ryuzaki was originally beyond birthday’s real name, but was later used as a second alias by none other than L himself.

I thought this would be about Misa Amane. Near, the SPK, and the Task Force conveniently forgot that she murdered plenty of innocent people as the second Kira, and under Light as Kira. More seriously, she killed Ukita. I know it's implied she kills herself in the anime and probably does eventually in the manga, but still, that's not really the kind of justice that was sought against LIght and Mikami. Even in the manga Mikami is imprisoned, despite the notebook being burned and him losing all his memories of being a killer, just like Misa.

I really love that novel, I read it every night and have this issue where I thought, "is B actually copying how L would look like or L was the one who put the make up like B."
I was wondering why this story was as obscure as it is. It was pretty hilarious at first, when you read and think its L. But how eerie and actually terrifying it revealed to be later is... Well, terrifying.

Hmm, nice video, especially since I was just rererererereading LABB and made some notes and analyses on it last night, but I find your comment of it being unpopular strange.
I'm fairly sure that this book is pretty well-known among Death Note fans in general and is heavily referenced multiple times in the fandom, it's kind of a crime to not know what it is, with Beyond being the most well-known aspect.
But yeah, good video, hyped for June.
It's well known in the deeper fandom, but to casual fans it's pretty rare to find one who's aware of BB.
DuoReview I know who Beyond Birthday was even before finishing off Death Note and Code Geass after I finished high school.
I went to an anime convention years ago, when DN was crazy popular, and I asked a guy if he was cosplaying beyond birthday and he said I was the only person to know that, everyone else thought he was a weird L or something. The name I use everywhere was inspired by him (BeyondBrii as my name is Brii), so I thought that too until he said most didn’t recognise him :(
This was in the UK though, so might be different in the US.
I recently rewatched all of Death Note. Having read the BB murder cases, the scene where the second Kira talks about Shinigami made more sense. While watching it, L looks visibly shaken by just the mention of eyes. He freaks out after hearing Shinigami. I could be wrong but it looked like he could have been remembering BB and how he always had those eyes. Even if he didn't see BB in person, I'm sure he knew of him at Wammy's house due to his odd behavior in knowing when someone or something will die
L was an anti-hero and Light was an anti-villain, what do you think B.B was?

B became a killer because of a combination of his friend A committing suicide, and the pressure of becoming the successor of L. The Shinigami eyes certainly contributed to it, too.
Can I just point out that there is a good explanation as to why B had the eyes from birth, a short one too.
His mother had a death note and she made the deal for the eyes, somehow he ended up with the eyes because of genes. It makes sense the more you think about it.
Maybe B even had his lifespan cut in half from birth, we don't really know but I think I gave a good answer.

Ahh, I was very surprised to hear that Beyond Birthday/The Los Angeles BB Murder Cases is obscure O _ O When the book came out, it was literally everywhere and continued to be so for the next couple of years ;;; I guess it's probably well known for more long term fans of the series rather than newer fans though. perhaps one of BB's parents/ancestors was infact a shinigami, they never said that a shinigami would die if they fell in love with a human or attempted to have children or anything, only if they used the deathnote to kill a human out of love for another human, at least from my understanding

I'm assuming the following theory is going to be about how it's likely Beyond Birthday had a death note before and made the deal to get the shinigami eyes, and somehow and for some reason he erased his memory by relinquishing the ownership of his death note back to the original shinigami owner, much like Light did. Which would leave Beyond Birthday with no memory of the shinigami, the death note, and with the ability of the shinigami eyes. I never read the book myself, I've had it ever since it's released and never got around to it, I should get around to reading it, after binging the anime or something. I'm gonna spit ball some guess as to why he would relinquish his memory. I can see Beyond Birthday acquiring the Death Note, but not taking much interest in it beside the shinigami eyes, because Beyond Birthday just seems like the guy who enjoys murdering his victims in person, since he violently mutilates his victims, he wouldn't get the joy out of it, if he just wrote them into their demise. Or maybe, Wammy's House isn't as morally pure as we thought?

Personally, I think that Light actually killed B.B. The reason why is once the captured B.B, they most likely put his face and name on the t.v. this is where Light comes in. When Light started off his killings, he would kill criminals whos names came up on the t.v. So, what I think happened was Light saw B.Bs name and face on t.v for his murderes, and then Light killed him.
I fuckin' Love your Death Note content. I'm sorry to say it, but this is why I'm subscribed. I'd hate to see the series go or dye out without something equally as capable of being in place in said place. Plus your commentary is relaxing.

Something about Naomi Misoura (or however u spell it) doesn't make sense. The death note says that it must be within realistic limitations. But because Naomi was so determined to catch Kira, suicide shouldn't have been realistic. She should've just collapsed in front of Light from heart attack.

It’s funny that you said it’s unlikely that most fans of Death Note will ever read this because this is the only Death Note side material I own. I guess I’m just lucky to have got my hands on this a few years ago.
Don’t get me wrong, I want more of the side material but I just haven’t got my hands on it yet.
