- This footage was discovered in a college apartment complex storage shelter near Tennessee State University. It is not complete, and has been transferred as is to digital video format.
What it shows is a very young Oprah Winfrey lip syncing in a video at age 17 just before she entered, and won, the Miss Black Tennessee beauty pageant.
It is probably one of the rarest findings for any Oprah fan.

The title of this video did not age well.
Oprah's voice is octaves lower than this girl sounds...and Oprah singing "en francais" is a bit of a stretch as well. The only language I've heard her use other than plain English is when she tries to come off as cool using "her best street dialect".

The only shame is that the uploader of the video made a prank rather than really homage some good artists from the 60's. This is a band called Les Surfs, from Madagascar. The girl that save some resemblance with Oprah is Monique Rabaraona. Unfortunatelly she died in 1993... They were part of a cultural movment called Yé-yé, that was very popular in Brasil - where I'm at - at that time too. This video is a gem for those who lived and liked the Yé-yé movment. I hope I'm bringing a better approach to the video - deserving of some good introduction - besides the not so cool joke made. You can play, tanisb77's. But do some justice in the description of the video and tell the truth about it. You don't need to keep ying about it after the person already clicked on it. You lost your mark there and a great oportunity to be clever.

Les Surfs (all brothers and sisters on stage). . Oprah' s orginal nose didnt look like this. This looks like early 60's footage......and Oprah would have been around 8-10 years old around this time. Also, based on Oprah's early troubled childhood (experiencing rape and early pregnancy)... and troubled adolescence in Mississippi....she was no where around a T.V camera dancing and singing in French with false eyelashes on. Her early photos are far from glamorous. Oprah probably began to blossom in late high school and early college in the 70's.........then the sky was the limit.....
