Story 1: OP keeps saying he's telling his daughters the truth without going into the messy details but that isn't the truth. Saying "I left to protect you" is meaningless. They might just end up thinking he left to not expose them to his addict behavior. Without telling them the full truth, he's still lying. They deserve to know what their mother and step-father did so they can make their own informed decisions on how they move forward. I watched waiting for him to tell them only to keep being frustrated when he pussyfooted around it. I've never hoped a story was fake this much.

He should tell her the truth, but the police station being bugged wouldn't have helped him. The cops only turn the mics on when it benefits their cases. Even stations with 24/7 mics conveniently have unreported "outages" that just happen to line up to times they really fucked up.

OP in first story definitely needs to tell his kids what their mother did. Even if I agree that she had every right to leave him because of the drugs (Don't know all the details so we don't truly know how bad it got) Cheating on him, threatening him, and ruining his life is going too far, and their kids need to know what kind of person their mother truly is.

Story 1: This story brings to light something men deal with that most women can't even fathom. The fear of a false allegation. S1: Why is the OP seemingly covering for the actions of his ex-wife and the cop? That’s not being truthful with his daughters. Also, Hannah was old enough at the time to know that she was intentionally distancing herself from her dad, Nor was she entirely blameless when it came to that final present handover.
Given that they were prepared to fake abuse allegations against him, is it so hard to believe that they might have targeted the kids with abuse? It’s disappointing that the OP did not attempt to make contact once the daughters reached adulthood. Better still would’ve been to record the threats made by Sarah at the time but he failed to do that unfortunately.
As described, the adults in the story are varying shades of bad and annoying.

I'm glad he found someone that he feels alright with that it doesnt, but he has every right to not want to be a part of something she just ASSUMED he was 'cured' from so he could take care of the kid. She did cheat in that she got with the new BF before divorcing OP. Marrying him later doesn't make it not cheating. Neither did the fact that OP was a drunk mean that it wasn't cheating. It might make it understandable, but it's still cheating.

@@rmhartman Many believe once the "Spirit" of a marriage aka vows have been broken in some form then the marriage is essentially over. People forget that forgoing all others is just ONE vow in a marriage and if one or more of the other vows are broken by one of the parties then the marriage, for all intents and purposes, is over.
Thus, they still might be married in the "eyes of the law" but aren't in the Spirit of the marriage. Some states also have separation agreements since the laws require a long period of time before a divorce can happen. Some states consider the marriage over before the actual court-signed judgment if one or both of the parties jump through the required legal hoops of that state.
So, if they are separated with no intention of ever reconciling, most might not see "cheating" being a thing any longer, and in reality, it isn't actually "cheating" any longer.

story 1) OP is spineless, after 25 years? why not wait when they're in college or when they're 25? you didnt protect them? you exposed them to the abuse, if your wife is willing to manipulate her kids for her own gain with a man who can easily gat anyone in trouble, what was stopping them from abusing the girl? why didnt you reach out at all like a letter? OP keeps saying he's telling his daughters the truth without going into the messy details means that you arent telling the full truth, so he is still lying. They deserve to know what their mother and step-father did so they can make their own decisions on how they move forward, on their terms, OP has just been beating around the bush, and its not anything good.

    Story 1: title is misleading.
Op wife didn't cheat, she left op and took her daughters because op started doing drug and later with the help of her new cop bf she kept op away from her kids and divorce him.
    Op doesn't deserve any sympathy.

Cheating is cheating, no matter the excuse. There's nothing misleading about this title.
You redditards really need to touch grass.

I pray to God you never have to deal with addiction. Because you are the exact type of idiot to think you'd be the exception to it because "Well only those stinky bad people can't handle their liquor, unlike me".
