    The only way to avoid being ganked like this is to understand the strategy. Plus piracy is a part of our game. Please continue. I'm sure there are more subtle details in the strategy that will benefit us.

      The issue is not that piracy is in the game but that the npc security systems favor them by being easy to exploit while also protecting them from counterplay by other players. The only way to save a gank target as a third party player is to commit a crime yourself by ganking the ganker. Also the security standing loss is way too small considering how easy it is to get it up again, specially considering how cheap catalysts are as gank ships.
      What this game needs is active gameplay mechanics that encourage players to counterplay gankers before the gank happens. For example make something like a State Police NPC Corp that you can only join if you have a security standing of 5.0 and that comes with special Skins and Equipment that you can only use while in this NPC Corp or while your Corp is declared as such like in Faction Warfare. Equipment could be stuff like a Protection Field/Bubble that lets you take part of the damage a non suspect ship is taking within its range for battleships, a cruiser module that can be used to mark up to x targets with a debuff that lowers the damage they do to other players based on their security rating compared to the targets and so on. Concord is not enough.

      @@strawberry-parfait3922 It is a close enough representation of reality, where police prevent nothing, and prevent others from preventing anything.
      What they do is provide consequesnces to any criminal they can get a hold of.
      And in Eve that is exactly what they do.

      Yeah, feels like there's no balance in the game.

    I'm one of those anti-gank people, but honestly there is a separation in my mind between piracy and ganking. To my way of thinking, what you're doing here is piracy, and when it's done well it's a thing of beauty. I have zero interest in doing it myself, but I get it. Ganking to me is douchebags killing newbies with throwaway T1 destroyers. This video was actually very helpful to me, as I've never had issues past Kusomonmon, which is where my scout usually turns around and heads elsewhere. I also use a DST, and I tend to stop using the cloak/warp trick in the same system. Seeing you in Perimeter has made me change my thinking on that. Thanks!

    It's weird to say and think this way but, I'm actually Pro-Ganking and I'm not even a ganker.
    Think about it. Every time a suicide gank happens at a minimum 2 ships plus modules are lost. What do you need to replace those? Industrialists.
    and who fuels those manufacturing plants? Miners.
    Everybody wins.
    It sucks when it happens to you or me but, it's for the greater good for the economic ecosystem in High-Sec.

      There's things that will give you a small chance of survival versus none but, the bigger thing is avoiding being a target in the first place.

    I love the idea of ganking. I’m new to EVE and having such an immense video game background from dev to consumer - I personally think EVE would be incredibly boring without ganking. It creates a mature atmosphere for the game, and forces the element of strategy everywhere you go. Being able to be attacked in a “safe” high-sec system really differentiates EVE from other MMOs, for example RuneScape which has separate worlds for PvP.

  • @WestinsChannel

    Incredibly frustrating. Was hauling in highsec, was on a gate and used the "dock" option on a station. went thru warp just fine, landed at the station "Docking permission requested" BOOM. insta locked, insta killed by a tornado. This is ridiculous. this kind of thing isn't a matter of "being outplayed"... if the server randomly decides to take longer to let you dock... and leaves you hanging out infront of a suicidal d-bag. Piracy is one thing, when the game just doesn't work like it should... thats something else...

    Gankers stimulate the economy. I lost a worm in hi-sec because I went to do abyssal runs in a quiet but 0.5 system… went to the wrong neighbourhood and paid the price. The ship wasnt really expensive but I had to go and by a new one :/ There are soo many things I could have done to prevent loosing my ship ( just put AB on and burn away) go to a different system… so on… I panicked when I saw 7 catalyst on grid next to me. I had a good laugh when the ganker sent me a thank you mail for the donation they received from my wrecks. Learnt a lot from this situation and now I am more aware of things.

    Ganking is a revenue stream. For the big fleets, that's the only reason they do it. The trolling that follows it, simply fuels the propaganda. Goonswarm uses it as a marketing tool, keeping their name constantly live in new players' minds.
    Those new players then sometimes abandon high sec for null sec which is what the null sec guys want ultimately.
    Ganking miners/orca in high sec is also how some entities believe they can/are controlling the ore coming onto the market. Null sec powers care very little about those players who choose to call high sec home.
    Obviously its also become a tradition at this point, and if you can get big value kills on the board for very little loss to your bottom line, why wouldn't a group add it to their portfolio of activities.?

    • @eventon9372
      @eventon9372  3 роки тому

      I can see this, when my Orca got ganked I was really debating joining Goonswarm at the time. Its the classic 'if you cant beat them, join them' and I know Null is WAY more profitable than Hi Sec. At least for me, my alt is in a hi sec corp that has a branch for ganking. They accept everyone that wants to learn for the most part and gank mostly for fun than actual profit.

    I'm usually not a serious target for gankers because I don't haul the kinds of cargo that are worth the cost. But recently I was ganked when I took a courier contract in an Iteron Mk. V with a good payout and collateral of 150M, but when I put the package in my cargo hold it had over 2 billion in goods. I cannot figure out what was up with that. It couldn't have been a case of somebody planning to gank me for the collateral, because the goods were worth way more and a lot of them were destroyed. But why would anyone do that? And why was a gang of Tornadoes camping a gate off the beaten path? I had already accepted the contract and I knew I'd probably get nailed but it was not between two hubs so I figured maybe I'd get lucky. Alas, no.

    • @eventon9372
      @eventon9372  3 роки тому +3

      yea, always check whats inside the cargo. I have video about gank/scam contracts and how to spot them. But in that case, you are well within reason to fail the contract on purpose when the collateral was 150m but the cargo was 2b. Just fail it and keep the profit, especially if you feel it was a gank contract. Thats one of the perks of being a hauler. Sucks you lost your ship but luckily it wasnt a super expensive lesson.
      fly safe! o7

    • @eventon9372
      @eventon9372  3 роки тому

      For an Epithal? Well it depends on the size of your cargo. My rule of thumb is just use enough cargo expanders for the haul and tank the rest of the slots. As long as you are under 200m or so you shouldn't get bothered by tornados. As for the Trigs, you need to a 2 second align or cloak trick to survive them off the gate.

    I cannot agree with your assessments but I enjoyed your video and appreciate your good efforts, thank you.
    It is far more fun to be the rabbit than the fox. The fox risks very little while the rabbit risks everything. For the rabbit, every encounter survival is a victory without a reward or a stat to gloat over except the rabbit knows that they are still alive and the fox goes hungry again.
    In my experience, gankers are lazy and low skilled juveniles.
    That is why they are gankers. They have little or no conception of other people and are focused on the next lick of the lollypop. You even demonstrate your own lack of patience and frustrations. A few hours and you are frustrated!!! Then you claim that you have patience!!! A seriously good example of a lack of patience in a game very much skewed towards the bullies and unethical.
    Many gankers are following someone else's orders and deserve the respect that all lemmings deserve.
    There are a few rare exceptions that demonstrate a creative and longer term dedication to being a D#@%. These are few are far between but they are obvious and add rich content.

    There's more to "ganking" than people understand. Security status doesn't mean "Safe", it means "Safer". You're not actually safe anywhere in EVE. Second, shooting a high value target isn't ganking, it's banditry. Shooting a low value target is ganking. Shooting a new player is griefing. I am ok with banditry, I dislike ganking if it's in 0.7 or higher, and griefing is unacceptable to me.
