Yeah, about that "high auto insurance" you started with...it turns out when the subject is laid out b4 a judge, they caution you about being "close to contempt" of court. All I said was "if a person owns their vehicle outright & Michigan is SUPPOSEDLY no-fault in re: car insurance, HOW exactly can the State Government mandate a private citizen to pay Big Business for unwanted coverage? Isn't that the very definition of Fascism?? The room was split pretty much 50/50 between laughter & anger at my wasting time by arguing, but all I got was the contempt warning. [In that particular scenario, I'm claiming a 'Win.')

I remember walking into an insurance agent in Michigan after just moving from Ohio. I told the agent to switch my car insurance over to Michigan and the first-thing she said was, "I see you're smiling. But that won't be for long." It's ridiculous. Next is the annual car registration to the state which is 10 times higher than Ohio (based off the car value).

Bought my house for $15,000 in Redford around 2010. I put some work in to it. Worth around $150,000 now. I got lucky. Safe neighborhood but wouldn't want to raise my kids here. Hopefully upgrading to Livonia or Plymouth and rent out my house.

I live in Michigan and those grocery price examples are much lower than my experience. I pay just shy of $800 a month in medical insurance with no stranger or real extras needed. I hate paying for every other person.

Ya if you can even get internet service. I live off two major highways and can’t get internet service.

Michigan is still very much no fault… they added more “tiers” but you can’t normally access the real cheap ones unless you have medicaid or other circumstances. it’s still crazy expensive

My wife is an insurance agent. She sells insurance for cars around the country and state. Michigan insurance has been a lot lower than every state with a population greater or even less. She also has a lot of people moving to Ann Arbor from other states commenting on how much lower the insurance is for their autos.
So stop with the propaganda. The governor wants to steal the medical insurance fund from the car insurance and use it for herself. It is close to 3 billion dollars.
