Charlie is correct about not storing champagne in the fridge. It becomes too cold and cork dries out. A few days is okay but not weeks and months. Also, maple syrup and golden syrup are not the same. Josie is doing her usual substitutions which affect the final product. Well done doing a shout out for Foodfare. A great charity to support x
My grandparents were substance farmers and we barely ate store bought produce when I was growing up. While we ate our fair share of meat, most of which we grew ourselves, the majority of our meals were vegetarian. Sadly I did not inherit their gardening abilities or the gardening ability of my dad so I just have to do the best I can with store bought. I do try to gardening I’m just terrible at it. My husband eats sooooo much processed food but he will not listen to me so c'est la vie. 🥺

Lovely to hear you mention Fare Share, not only do they prevent food waste, but they have excellent schemes to help enable disadvantaged young people to re engage with learning, life skills and work through their charity the SOFEA project. I used to work in a pupil referral unit with teenagers who were very vulnerable, some who had truly had terrible luck in life, who were removed from main stream education for whatever reason, and I saw first hand the incredible work the SOFEA project does in helping build their confidence through volunteer work in their distribution centres and helping them access careers support and qualifications. A fantastic charity who tackles food waste whilst supporting the community. Thank you Josie for acknowledging them. 🥰

I think yr gingerbread cookies look great. Ginger is useful for many things, digestion, nausea, chop up into smaller pieces and freeze them for hot teas, summer drinks and spicy dishes.❤Also keeping dough already flat in fridge reduces cookies from spreading and keep their shape as they bake.

Loved this video. When you look at the food we eat in this country, it's no wonder everyone is tired all the time and obesity is a problem. Well done to Charlie for shopping local and trying to keep away from the supermarkets who do not have our best interests at heart. Asda have started covering some citrus fruit in Apeel which you cannot scrub off, and Tesco are also doing a trial. Look it up because it is not good and most people are unaware. Thank you for educating us all about our food.
Apeel is a lipid ie fat obtained from living plants. Generally grape seeds. The lipids are a byproduct of eg making grape juice. It is not harmful. Don't listen to the propaganda! .. read and learn the science! You should be more worried about the plastic you are eatting in all products kept in plastic..or even in lined tins eg. Sweetcorn in tins...some research showed it came out in pee for 3 days after consuming tinned sweetcorn.

Lovely vlog gastronomique ! Christalized ginger is full of vertue indeed. My late beloved yoga teacher who also was a herborist used to prepare for us clementine-candied ginger skewers as a vitamin boost and treat for winter season! They are delicious. The best way to add candied ginger to an ice-cream is to knife chop it into tiny bits and add those at the end to the mixture to have tiny spicy bites in your ice cream. Thank you for the idea of lemon -candied ginger tea! Will try it right away. Ginger is so boosting and energising. Xoxo
I am also team no nasties in food. I have a little colour wheel that spins round that shows all the food numbers and what they mean. Basically anything with a number is junk! There are very few on the wheel considered safe IMO.

You can try pointing the light to the ceiling (if its white), it will give a more natural look. Another option is to buy a reflector it will bounce of more of the natural light, if you put it at an angle between you and the window. Or try a softbox if you want natural looking light inside when its dark, you can also try putting a white cloth over the led lamps to soften it up.
It's OK to keep champagne in the fridge for a few days but not longer as the cork could start to dry out and spoil the wine......at least that's what I've been told in the past.....I so love your vlogmas intro, the music is lovely and it is serving ultimate cosy, christmas vibes...
Thank you Josie for mentioning Fair share. I volunteer at my local Community Food Larder here in Devon and we feed a great many people each week with contributions from Fairshare and surplus veg from the supermarkets.
I would Store all my wined outside a fridge except for what I would use in the next week. Restaurants would Fridge most wines as they need guarenteed quick access. A finer restaurant would add to the fridge only as needed.
Not talking about charity or donations is not just a British thing, it is a humility thing.

It's OK to keep champagne in the fridge for a few days but not longer as the cork could start to dry out and spoil the wine......at least that's what I've been told in the past.....I so love your vlogmas intro, the music is lovely and it is serving ultimate cosy, christmas vibes...
Regarding the crystallised ginger, maybe you could try putting it in the Aga to dry out. I can't guarantee it will work but it's s worth a try.

You can use the tiny cutters to cut holes in the middle of round cookies! And then fill the holes with boiled sweets to make little windows 🪟
I would Store all my wined outside a fridge except for what I would use in the next week. Restaurants would Fridge most wines as they need guarenteed quick access. A finer restaurant would add to the fridge only as needed.
