L'album de Goldman écrit pour Johnny est réellement magnifique.
C'est à ça que l'on reconnaît un grand chanteur comme Johnny Hallyday, ses chansons sont intemporelles et le chanteur avait déjà en 1987 une belle carrière derrière lui et pourtant elle a encore duré 30 ans supplémentaires jusqu'à son décès !!! Merci Johnny pour toutes ces chansons, ces souvenirs et ces grands moments de bonheur qui ont accompagné la vie de dizaines de millions de Français...

This song "J'oublierai Ton Nom" (I Will Forget Your Name) in duet with Carmel was released in early January 1987 as the second single from his 35th studio album "Gang" entirely written and composed by Jean-Jacques Goldman and ranked no.7 in the TOP 50. When the singer passed away in 2017, the song will re-enter the charts at number 17!
It was a great success selling more than 250,000 copies and certified silver disc. It is one of the "classics" in Johnny Hallyday's repertoire.
It is the only duet on this album with British female singer Carmel whose English lyrics were written by Jean-Jacques Goldman's sidekick Michael Jones.
She also sings in French with him.
Carmel was revealed in 1986 with her title "Sally" whose single sold 500,000 copies and her album was certified gold in France. Her song is also a worldwide success.
The music video is shot by Bernard Schmitt in Mounana in southeastern Gabon, which illustrates the exploitation of uranium on Gabonese soil in the 1980s.
FYI, Bernard Schmitt is JJG's childhood friend (has since become a director of commercials, music videos and cinema ) and you've probably seen him in other videoclips like in the song "Pas Toi" (Not You) in 1986 and also Vanessa Paradis' "Marilyn & John" two years later .
He of course produced almost all of his friend as well as a good twenty for our national rocker Johnny Hallyday but also some of his shows!
He was also the one who directed France Gall's clip "Ella, Elle L'A" in 1987, your first reaction to her but also your first reaction to the French 80's in November 2020! 😉😁

Chanson de l'album gang écrit et composé par Jean-Jacques Goldman. Un album avec Laura, je te promets,l'envie et bien sûr j'oublierai ton nom. Il y a dans cet album une magnifique chanson qui s'intitule Ton fils, Goldman est un génie dans l'écriture de la grande chanson.

I clicked on this for Carmel, a hugely underrated British singer who I adore. She had precisely two hits in the UK, in 1984, and then pretty much nothing, although she was more successful in France. I heartily recommend I'm Not Afraid Of You, Napoli, Take It For Granted, You're On My Mind, or If You Don't Come Back, an English version of a beautiful Miguel Bosé song.

Magnifique Duo. Inoubliable ! Johnny Hallyday est superbe dedans. Je n'arrive plus à me souvenir du nom de son partenaire, qui travaillait avec Jean Jacques Goldman et qui figure dans les clips de " Pas toi" et " Elle a fait un bébé toute seule" ? La complicité entre amis est superbe dans ce clip.
