Yeah we are going backwards now for sure. My rift cv1 I use it with my q2 and q3 for comparison. I feel how quality was first matter in every way in 2017... But that was for enthusiasts, now its time to push everything forward and give some devices for mainstream. So we have to go backwards to go forward a lot. Thats how I am understand that.
Meta's glasses and ai are genuinely super impressive technology, I thought we would be 10 years away from it but it is right around the corner. I'm interested in a Quest 3S just for that breathable cushion, I sleep in VR a lot and that would be an amazing product.
@@Unbaguettable it's not ideal but it's something you can learn to be better at with time, similar to how military soldiers have to train to sleep with helmets on. Cool waking up in VR since your brain is still in that state of sleep so you just take in what you see as being real. I sleep alone or with the ones I love despite it being long distance. It's an advanced sleeping mask, would recommend software like OyasumiVR for a better time sleeping in VR, lowering your brightness and enabling night mode.
VR Developer here []-) Long story short - Quest 2 never had the full power to run its standalone games in full panel resolution ;) Just try to run COMPOUND or other games via Desktop VR using a high bitrate and YOU WILL SEE , that all games are much sharper. The Quest 3s has much more firepower to bump the native resolution - for standalone mobile (!). Trust me on that. I can make my game now with better shadows and sharper resolution not compromising on performance :) This also means I will not cancel my game for the Quest 2 in favour on Quest 3 but use Mets 3s. However, this doesn't change the fact that Quest 2 is .... weaker. Hope this helped you all out!
Ive been liking the mix of content lately. I subscribed for all the cool beat saber content but you've been reminding me that I can do more than beatsaber with VR
I have been highly planning on upgrading to the quest 3S from my 2. Mostly due to the lightweight of it as well as more battery power for game time. Main reason I hadn't gamed on my quest 2 often as I would've loved to was it was to darn heavy for my small head. Could only game at least an hour. XD hopefully quest 3s will fix that issue. The 3s is only missing the depth sensor and pancake lenses but for $300 it's a steal with inflation to consider! Love my normal Quest 3 but I'm happy more people are getting into VR! (maybe not screaming kids lol)

I don't think people realize that the Quest 3 literally has industry leading *optics* which is why it costs $499. Even compared to the Beyond and Crystal Super, many reviewers say that the Quest 3's optics are superior. The only reason it didn't cost any more was because the screens were kept LCD and under 4k. If we had micro OLED 4k each eye with these optics the Quest would cost well over $1k maybe even approaching $1,500-1,800. Going back to fresnel lenses on the 3S was the only way they could have decreased the price aside from omitting the depth sensor without severely compromising on what made the Quest 3 the Quest 3

@@Naysy Like my OG Quest which I still use because I like the darker blacks for some games. It hasn't been supported for a while, but there are still lots of things that work on it, including Beat Saber :) I have a 2 and 3 as well :)
Basically it's got the same optical stack as the Quest 2 but it's renders games at the exact base resolution as the Quest 3 so you will get a much better picture than the Quest 2 as the renders games at a lower resolution as they never render the games at the full resolution of what the headset can cope with so the Quest 3s is good for people who have never used VR and for people who want to upgrade from the Quest 2 but me personally as a Quest 3 owner I would just go for the Quest 3 if your going from the Quest 2 as you would probably want abit more as a Quest 2 user than the Quest 3s offers if your don't mind slightly lower resolutions in games them go for the Quest 3s
I like the news format, there is a limit to how much Beat Saber you can watch. Quest 3S is not for me, limited IPD adjustment that is too small for me, and I'm reluctant to get a Quest because of the exclusive games. I already have PSVR2 and Pimax 8KX, don't need a new headset yet.
I share a similar sentiment as I did when the Quest 3 came out: The mixed reality stuff is a waste of money and resources and I feel like having all that over better lenses feels a bit silly
Funny enough, the mixed reality is going to be what takes off in the coming years. VR is an isolation machine, Mixed reality isn't. Meta is using Quest 3 and 3S hardware to build better Mixed reality glasses, hence the Orion prototype.
No depth sensor in the Quest 3S? Yes, it will affect the experience of using the headset, substantially so. Along with my Quest 3, I have a Pico 4. Its color passthrough function also lacks a depth sensor. While that passthrough is amazingly good, I think some people will find the lack of depth in what they're looking at through the headset very problematic, especially if they're prone to motion sickness. Certainly, they won't be able to (safely) walk about with their headsets on, as you can do with the Quest 3, and it seems like setting games mixed reality games up will be more complicated than they could've been. . I know META was trying to find ways to keep the cost down on the Quest 3S... but excluding the depth sensor, well, I think that, if potential buyers also believe all the whining about the Fresnels lenses, some of them will be disappointed enough in their experience to return their headsets. And that would be to bad, because, for newer users, or users whose memories of VR are from Google's Cardboard days, they will find everything else that the 3S has to offer pretty amazing.

Still not as good as DisplayPort cable. Like I literally notice pixelation in text on vrchat with the quest 3. Compared to my BigScreen beyond I’m not impressed with standalone graphics. The lenses on the quest 3 totally nail it though

Can anyone please help me with something? I had downloaded custom songs for Beat Saber months ago, and I believe that’s what caused the OST 7 pack to disappear on my headset. I played most of the custom songs and I want the OST 7 pack back on my headset, but I don’t know what to do.

still use my quest 2 and dont see the difference in the app store, everything runs and the development is like frozen in time since the last 6 months, maybe i am to picky to not count this lil 10 minutes experiences and 1-2 triple a games which are very much copycats as really new games but yeah they changed the avatars, new homes are still not here, no customisation,no minigames for the own homes and youtube is coming soon...since 2 years... the meta horizon world also dont has customisation for the own home...so everyone has the same home which is totally unpersonal and boring... even rec room has own homes and customisation with less money... i want the metaquest 3s because it looks like a ant vr glasses and the price and because of the switch mr/vr button instead of this annoying smashing twice on the headset function... but the software and app store is just not interesting enough and zenith/orbus vr reborn dont get updates anymore so not even a great vr mmorpg it seems all so lonely and dead and the quest 3s seems like a call for help to drag some extra vr users into the world which is great on one side but its still a empty vr experience and way to casual instead of a sword arts online like world of possibilities to dive into.

As someone who owns the 2 and the 3, the lenses on the 3 are worth the extra bucks to me. I never again want to look through a fresnel lens.
