As always, your reviews are indispensable. Thank you for showing off the low end and how it sounds with a beat coming through, it's these little details that make your videos so great. Thank you!
I picked one up for $5. I took out the factory speaker and put in an Eminence 12” with a piezo tweeter. I use it for my acoustic guitar now. Love this amp!
Great review, i just picked one of these up sight unseen from a massive auction. A huge hotel/resort/golf course/exhibition/conference center in my hometown near Chicago just auctioned off all the room contents and fixtures in a 4 day auction. I spotted it buried in the pictures, bid $50 and I won. It sounds fantastic, I mean just a great, even sound. I use it for bass and keys. I got it, a Yamaha FC7 expression pedal, an American Audio Pro DJ cd player plus a couple non-musical items out the door for $63! Yes, I am bragging but still, the amp was what I really wanted and I couldn’t be happier.
Ah I love a good clean-up sale! And yes this is a great amp and your description is apt: It exudes no personality of its own, letting the instrument flow through it brightly and evenly. I respect its modesty!
Nice review!, I agree about this amp having no personality as a positive thing :) I have the KB/A 30 and use for synths, acoustic or electric guitar, bass, vocals or movies/music. Just add in any needed personality through the loop or at the input. Independent channel outs would be great though. It did suffer from speaker cone rub sounds due to age, fixed by rotating the speaker 180 degrees.
I appreciate the last bit of wisdom concerning an amp adding "color" to music. I've been looking for a flat response monitor / amplifier without breaking the bank. This type of amp could get me what I want as I learn to use my old-school POD X3 and my Boss GT-100. Imagine two of these for stereo chorus or panning left and right signals with different flavors. Thanks, Gearfacts!
I have the KBA50 it's got better inputs and output options and a 10" but otherwise really similar. no reverb. beast bass amp using stereo out from the guitar. compression on one distortion-bypass on the other. love it
I'm gonna make everyone mad and sick. Yrs ago I found in a deserted bldg a Yamaha 88 key keyboard, a Peavey K60 amp and a stand all working great. Also a non-working Korg M-1 workstation that I finally got repaired. And I don't play keys. But these completed everything needed for a band in my possession. I'm a guitar player so all that is as good as I can afford. Picked up a bass and amp, a set of electric drums, and a P A basically on the cheap.
@@gearfacts I understand the owner died. Homeless took over. What's funny to me was I said to myself Got everything but keys. Weeks later ran into this. The BIG GUY smiled down on me for all this.
Gracias Secar, good comment. I'll translate it to English for other viewers: "Friends, I have this amplifier, it is of excellent quality and I use it with my Yamaha synthesizer, it sounds very good, and its equalizer is super good. I'm not worried about the weight since I put 4 wheels on it and that's it. I'm from Ecuador."
Should the inputs on these be able to handle output from a DVD player ? I patched a DVD player into channel one and it worked fine for a while and then no output.
@@gearfacts The DVD player has been working fine in channel 2. But I can tell it's a high signal for the input because channel and master volume are both set at 2. When I first plugged it into C1 it had no output, and then suddenly a very loud pop and then worked fine for awhile. I'm running a mic through C3 to practice singing with a backing track.
Hello sir thanks for this great video, please could you tell me if this amp can be an excellent amplifier for my Theremini? This amp or which one could be a option? You're opinion will let me decide for sure ;-) Thanks in advance!!! Greetings!!
It'd be pretty good. I think the Vox we talked about might be a bit better, and the Fender GT40 better again. Also you could think about getting a pair of studio monitors if it's just for home use.
@@gearfacts thank you sir for your response, I appreciate the opinion 👍 Yes, actually I already have some monitor speakers, so now the idea is about to have the chance to move the Theremini outdoor. I have the chance to get the Vox Pathfinder 10 but I heard is more convenient to use an amp designed for keyboard and not for guitar, and this Pathfinder 10 is for guitar. Thanks again Gearfacts.
@@TheSyngapur If you're going outdoors, maybe consider a simple battery-powered speaker like a Sony or JBL. You can even use a multi-effects pedal, there are almost no limits! Good discussion, thanks for getting in touch! :) Glynn from Gearfacts
@@gearfacts that's correct, I didn't consider this speakers line like Sony or JBL. Actually I'm using the A1X Four from ZOOM and it's true how many things is possible to do with the mixers! Thanks a lot Glynn for this informative chat and have a nice day!!!
Hookie (1 yr. ago) For my point of view Keyboard Amp. is only designed for Keyboard.Same thing with electric Acoustic guitar Amp , it’s only designed for acoustic guitar, & electric Bass guitar Amp is only designed for Bass guitar , nothing will be damage and the sound is perfectly matched.
Hmm sorry I don't know. I do remember being disappointed by how heavy it was, considering that amps have come a long way in that department over the last decade or so.
so how does the frequency response in this amp differ from that of a guitar and bass amp. Is an keyboard amp similar to a PA speaker? Furthermore does a keyboard amp need to handle all frequencies from bass through to treble?
Yep I think that's pretty much the idea - it's meant to handle all frequencies. I think this is why they tend to be pretty expensive. I think it's also important that they have detail in the sound, whereas a guitar amp for example is more about its overall personality - super-clean, super-fat, super-warm etc. Keyboard amps need to just reflect the reality of whatever is plugged into them with as little added as possible. That's the way I see it anyhoo :) #gearfacts
You can, but it needs a powered instrument to get the most out of it. So you'd have to have a voice processor or some other kind of pre-amp. If you just put a passive signal from a mic into it, it'll be very quiet.
Get the KBA 100 or KBA300 ! They got a XLR input plus I saw one guy doing a gig with the KBA 100 and it sounded good with just vocals and acoustic guitar.
@@gearfacts According to Google its a 15" "KB/A 60 50-Watt 1x15" Keyboard / Acoustic Amplification System" Great review, I'm buying one today for my Alesis Command Mesh kit!
Glad you liked the video and sorry for the late reply. I would think the 'high' input would be best, as the iPod is an active instrument i.e. it sends a bit of power down the cable along with the sound. :) #gearfacts

No, this is a clean amp. It prefers powered sources like external effects or keyboards.
