This is the era of cars and truck I love the most. Now that your “Frankenstein-ing” together something to resemble a home made 1920’s era car is absolutely amazing. Now I really want to build something like that.
Mate, I was puckering when the whole lot started tipping. I recon by the time you pack some washers between the chassis and the engine at the mounting points, then bolt it down, that chassis will never flex again. I can't wait to see what comes next on this. Keep up the great work!!
Part 2 wonderful, Def following this build :) Because it got saved and you gave it wheels , Where it belongs now. Thought you were talking about getting a bigger chassis , Yeah if you cut this weld that it might be ok , Looks fun keep up the good work lads
Had a near life experience there when you were dropping it! What an exciting build, it makes me want to do something similarly over the top. Seriously inspiring.
In the immortal words of Father Dougal Maguire:- 'Ted...i'm scared'. This does smell a bit fubar, but i do hope you succeed, don't get hurt, and the thing runs under it's own steam. I'd go mental on reinforcing the chassis on the basis that this is more straightforward than repairing the cracks. Best of luck, and please get on Dom Chinea's back- he needs to get stripping down his V12.
I think a "Bentley" style tensioned under chassis might be a good idea to help hold up that massive engine. I also think you might not even need a gearbox with this, fit a very large torque converter and allow it to just chug along.
It's all ready been mentioned but I would spend some time with a lot of very heavy steel reinforcement as the engine looks like it could drop through the "frame" at any moment. I would put a huge turbo on this as I suspect the standard power delivery would be very low rpm so any road work will be a struggle for this at the moment as it is. Great fun all round 👍.... Best get it finished before the car hateing government banns everyone with a historic vehicle
Love the update on the project lads! If you're still trying to get the wood out from under the diff might I suggest pumping up the tyres again? It might work
Got a question, as you've had to cut the forward cross member and the engine bed is now down in the chassis rails, is there any advantage in sliding the engine further forward to put more weight over the front wheels maybe to improve the steering and braking?
Yes, that’s what we’re aiming for, it’s just such a heavy lump, it takes some thinking about, I don’t want to use these horrible truck wheels, I have some 23” wire wheels to use so I think I need to keep a more centralised position, but I get what you’re saying. Time will tell as the project moves along.
Some how you will have to derate the engine down to what the biggest gearbox you can find will handle, probably one cylinder of that engine will be all its ever going to output as a vehicle.
My kind of maddness :) Why not to just sprit the chassis and widen it? Butchering out so much would definitely affect the stiffness of the beams. I guess we will see that once the engine starts twisting that chassis from the torque.
Removing one third of frame rail right where the weight is bearing the most. And looks as if overlap of engine on lower frame flange seems rather narrow.
There are so many questions about the chassis I don't know where to start, other than there's a couple of pretty Chinese girl mechanics on UA-cam who may be happy to give you a lift.
Is that chassis strong enough for that engine ? Chitty Chitty bang bang on steroids.....How will this behave on the road ?... engine is way too big & heavy.....
I love the fact you appear to be building it in the visitor car parking space by the side of the main road. Proper job!
I cannot wait to hear it turn over by itself.
The symphony it creates will be exquisite.
This has to be the most bonkers project on UA-cam. Love it. I’m in

Love how passing traffic sounds like an F1 race in time lapse....😂
It was rather funny watching you two lower that thing down. When it started to tip sideways it pooped a bolt. You must have scared it...😁😆😅🤣😂🤣😂🤣
Oh man - next level sketchy... Love it!
U S looks a bit dangerous
U K hold my beer !
AUS... safety thongs on and squint, she's mint 👍
this is so much better than seeing most "engineering superheroes" build a whole monster truck together in a 30 minute video.
Its perfect, I have been looking for a small, nimble, fuel efficient daily driver! Kidding aside, keep it up lads, awesome build.

That thing is so lovely ridiculous! Thanks for making the world a bit happier!
Loving this content, just wish there was more like it.

Brilliant lads! Can't wait for the next instalment.

Pretty cool as it is but a larger engine would make it even better! 😋

I don't see any space for a gearbox anyway!
Wow the cars past your place ,seems like a race track
Open headers are a must
gawd , i thought any minute now someones going to wearing a ton and a half of engine ! wll done chaps .
Can't wait to see it run and drive!!

I say brace! brace! brace! Otherwise a fun project 🍺
What have I stumbled upon here? 😅
There's a chesterfield sofa as the seat
Seems legit, I'm totally in! 👍
A real life Il tempo gigante! 🥰
Mr heath and mr Robinson would be proud of you😅😅😅
Can’t wait to see the IVA testers face when this rolls up.
Wow can’t wait to see you develop this project ,fantastic
Great been looking forward to part 2
Absolutely mental. Love it
The coolest build I have ever seen. This should bee fun to follow.
I have never seen so much jeopardy in one video. Very entertaining but bloody hell...
You've got to get out more !
The engine IS the chassis
I'm so happy you all survived!
:-))
The true definition of British eccentricity. Love it To early to talk wheels etc ?
Lovely build. Dont let it kill you 😅
Arsome, terrifying, but arsome
Thumbs up because nobody died! This could have so easily ended in disaster. However the height is perfect this way.
Love it
Perhaps some strengthening😊
Best project you got going at mo bud awesome will make an ideal shopping car 😂😂😎😎🤘🤘🤘🤘
Great video chaps, looking forward to following this build 👍
Such a great project, absolutely bonkers brilliant ❤
Great fun, well done. Glad there was a near disaster too! Real life.... still lucky you weren't dealing with anything stupidly heavy.......
Outrageous 👍😬 When I see that straight engine & seat, all I can think of is Chitty Chitty Bang Bang on steroids…
Ah yes, Chitty Chitty Bang Bang's big sister, Clatter Clatter Boom Boom ;)
Love it!
Would you like a side of wheels and frame with your engine sir?
I keep saying this but I really want to see this beast move with it’s own power what a toy to have hahahahah
Why didn't you weld on some engine mounts before you lowered it in to the chassie
Bonkers! Love it!..... Nuff said!. 😂
Is that engine out of a locomotive?
Mad as hell and fantastic 👍
Love the update on the project lads! If you're still trying to get the wood out from under the diff might I suggest pumping up the tyres again? It might work
Incredibly sketchy, dangerous, and irresponsible work. If it were up to me, I'd have probably done it exactly the same way.
Thank god you said that! Sketchy all the way!
OMG !!! Bonker's love it !!!!
as they say so far. so good.
Don't jinx it...
This is so awesome!!!
Love this
Looks proper now 🤟
When can we see it go up the hill at Goodwood? :D
Make a boat tail speedster.. though at this size it’s enough to make you ship you pants!
I would love to come by and look at your projects only 40 - 50 minute bus ride away
Take some side bits of of the engine and drop the chassis over the engine ?
Mad lads.

as you have observed the roll centre is quite high !!
Bonkers... again!!!
What kinda transmission are ypu using
❤❤❤❤te mamaste🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉
You might have to stick with the lorry wheels and tyres just to cope with the weight.
Sitting here in 30 degree celsius Australia, man it looks cold! Love the update! Just wondering what transmission you are thinking of using?
I have a Leyland truck box in mind. And it was bloody cold today.
@@vintagebentley Looking forward to seeing it. Especially how you deal with the clutch assembly.
Some how you will have to derate the engine down to what the biggest gearbox you can find will handle, probably one cylinder of that engine will be all its ever going to output as a vehicle.
Needs to be East West front wheel drive
Any thoughts on what gearbox to use? Awesome project, this will be a monster.
Maybe a Leyland truck box
@ sounds good 👌
@@vintagebentley Give it one gear ratioed for 60mph, the torque'll do the rest 🤣
My kind of maddness :)
Why not to just sprit the chassis and widen it? Butchering out so much would definitely affect the stiffness of the beams. I guess we will see that once the engine starts twisting that chassis from the torque.
We’re only in the early stages, this is all mocking up, once we know where we’re going then the strength and under carriage crossmembers will be made.
Removing one third of frame rail right where the weight is bearing the most. And looks as if overlap of engine on lower frame flange seems rather narrow.
The top rail is going to be welded back in after... as well as the bottom frame extended and strengthened once we are ready
🙆🤦
Would you not get it going first.. It could be shot
There are so many questions about the chassis I don't know where to start, other than there's a couple of pretty Chinese girl mechanics on UA-cam who may be happy to give you a lift.
What is the grand plan guys ?
Needed a car for the Pub run
How are you going to mount it on 10mm of steel lip???
Bit of gorilla glue will do
All entirely legit, not in the slightest bit sketchy or questionable.
Would love to see someone do this with a MAN v12
A friend of ours is doing it with a V12 LaFrance engine.
@ oooo please share
You need a bigger engine 😂
Should be ok with a couple of turbos. 😂
Strengthen the chassis lads or it will end up free wheeling in a soap box race.
That engine will shake that chassis like a shiteing dog on tickover and roll it over on throtle
Is that chassis strong enough for that engine ? Chitty Chitty bang bang on steroids.....How will this behave on the road ?... engine is way too big & heavy.....
That engine is way too small
Can't wait to see it run and drive!!
