Nemesis or William Birkin? That’s the question that a lot of resident evil fans out there have been asking. Seeing which of these monsters overall made a greater impact in not only their respective resident titles but also in the resident evil series as a whole.
With William Birkin being the main antagonist of resident evil 2 and Nemesis being the giant obstacle that Jill Valentine had to face in resident evil 3. Both monsters highlighted their terrifying abilities and gave us resident evil fans games that were instant classics, especially with the upcoming RE2 Remake just around the corner.
Also in this video we'll breakdown their in game battle mechanics, their impact in their games like, resident evil 2 and resident evil 3, and how overall William will be like in the upcoming resident evil 2 remake and just imagining Nemesis in a resident evil 3 remake, we just hope Capcom will officially give us a confirmation on this game.

all these RE2:remake videos made me wish Silent Hill got the same treatment. It almost did but it fell apart completely due to greedy fat cats and over-zealous publishers . Perhaps one day we will get a silent hill remake, one can only dream....right?
Very true, especially after the demo. It almost made me wonder what exactly happened in the background that would cause such a quick turnaround to the development of a game that would eventually have it canceled. I personally think the original PS1 SH is perfect on its own. The graphics hold part of the charm so is the outdated mechanics. But I'm sure most of us are still curious and very interested as to how a remake of it would turn out

@@MonsterKollector Very true, But so far it seems like they're leaning a lot more on the horror side of things.
Nemesis for me was just a Mr X 2.0, plus RE3 felt way more action oriented and killing him was fun. Birkin on the other hand is the stuff of nightmares for. Everytime I heard his screams calling for Sherry I got scared shitless and when he showed up all I wanted to do was run away from him and keep my distance, things that I never felt with Nemesis. So I would say Birkin, at least for me, is the ultimate monster.
I agree 100%. The constant mutations really emphasized his character. I lobe how e can gradually see this once human being become a nightmare. But you're absolutely right though that RE3 leaned more on the action oriented side, but RE2 had a great blend of horror and action. Anyway in the end both monsters are amazing and I can;t wait to see William Birkin's later transformations in the new remake. True, imagine killing someone only for it to comp back bigger and stronger.
“Stars.” Nemesis was created with the parasite that causes an increase of intelligence, G only takes over its host and drives from there. Also, according to the lore, Nemesis is able to take on Birkin in his second and third form. Nemesis (I believe) has a larger impact on our fears as far as an antagonist, constantly staking and relentlessly pursuing you. Birkin is great, don’t get me wrong, but Nemesis is much more of a complex character IMO.
You made great points! Nemesis did have a great impact in RE3. With the way he was able to stalk you, to him breaking through walls and windows, and to him using a rocket launcher. Overall Nemesis was a force. William had his strengths as well. The constant mutations really help out the scientist. Just can't wait to see Williams later forms in the new resident evil 2 remake. I really hope that Nemesis in RE3R is going to whisper "STARS" like in the original. The original is the only one that he didn't shout it or sound like a normal human

Nemesis made RE3 stand out from RE2

The answer is: both. Birking was tense af, but Nemesis, in it's own way, was terrifying. They are unique in their own way, and i would not choose one over the other for that very reason.

Only difference between the two is William was running on instincts that usually makes most animals more aggressive where they'll attack anything in sight. For Nemesis was more of a computerize tank with powerful weapons at it's disposal and if out of ammo it would be use as a ramming weapon itself.

Nemesis was more popular among the fans but CAPCOM did not plan it that way. Birkin is a G Virus based creature whereas Nemesis was a T-Virus based Tyrant with an NE Alpha parasite implant. The G-Virus was able to overcome the NE Alpha's influence on Lisa Trevor. Scientifically speaking, it means it was immune to the parasite whereas the T-Virus was not, ala Nemesis Tyrant's existence. Strength, regeneration and mutation, Birkin is too strong for Nemesis to tolerate. Nemesis mutated based on survival and recovery. Capcom stated it was not evolutionary. One may say that the blob form of William was an example of that but not necessarily, the mutations were getting out of control and was displaying power that even Wesker thought himself was not necessary.
Now of course if we are talking business, Umbrella made the Nemesis for the purpose of carrying out a mission, it can definitely follow orders, I will give it that, but blow for blow, Nemesis is not what his fans make him out to be. Resilient, yes, but certainly no match for William, Alexia and Evelyn.
Wasn't the NE parasite a template for G? It didn't overcome the NE, it was made from it.
The only thing that was overcome here, is the T virus' resistance to it, that's why many Tyrants died after being implanted with the parasite and why only a few select ones managed to become Nemesis.
Nemesis is basically T+G (and intelligent enough to use strategy in combat) thanks to the parasite, that's why his mutations are similar to Birkin's (at least the blob one)
@@george2p Your points have absolutely no facts to back it up. The Nemesis parasite was not used to create G. Birkin and Wesker wondered why Lisa could not be influenced by the parasite and was virtually immune to it. The discovery was that the G-Virus did not allow for the parasite to utilize its full effects and basically nullified it. This is where the true power of the virus came in. Also, Nemesis is not a G-Virus creature, please do not misinform people of that. The fact the Tyrants' were either controlled by it or died validates that the T-Virus COULD NOT overcome the effects of the Parasite. The G-Virus did OVERCOME the effects and was immune to the parasite and killed it. It was this discovery that led to the creation of the G-Virus. Somehow, all the experiments with Lisa eventually led to the virus strain being found in her system. Here are the details per RE Wikia which used Wesker's Report II as a source.
"In 1988, she was selected as the host of a NE-α Type parasite, a parasite engineered to take over the brain functions of B.O.W.s, but which was constantly killing test subjects. When implanted into her body, her body proved too hazardous an environment, and not only killed the parasite but dissolved it and spliced its DNA into her body. When searching for an explanation, Dr. Birkin discovered a mutant Progenitor strain entirely different from the t-Viruses within her body to be the cause; this virus was named Golgotha, or the G-Virus"

Nemesis was more iconic and did a better job of bringing fear and tension to the game. Birkin did a much better job of forwarding the story and showing how unstable the G-Virus is.
That's a great way to break it down. each monster gave something to the table and provided us a great experience while fighting against them in their resident evil title. Fair comparison.
The match between nemesis and Birkin was fought in the comics and while both are insanely strong, Nemesis won by a thread. Nemesis has intelligence over Birkin because Birkin lost his mind for survival. Nemesis also has the intelligence to use complex weapons while Birkin at most can use a pipe. Birkin was destroyed more easily than nemesis which took a rail gun to be able to kill him. Even then he still tried to stalk Jill. Nemesis endured multiple ballistics, explosives, fire, acid bath, railgun, and nuke to finally kill him Birkin endured weapon ballistics, explosives, fire, and a final explosion killed him.
That comic rundown of Nemesis vs William was a great take on what could happen if there two monsters met. Just imagine the new remakes version of William going up against Nemesis. Both were extremly dangerous foes, but the most memorable in my opinion was Nemesis. He appealed to me emmediatly because he reminded me of Jason Voorhees.(All except for the running after you and the rocket launcher thing.lol.) Albert Wesker and Nemesis are my favorite RE villians so my answer is Nemesis.

Nemesis always reminds me of Jason too. In Friday The 13th part XII New Blood, Jason slightly resembles Nemesis once he is unmasked.
New Blood had the best looking Jason. His face is similar to Nemesis's too. Specially with them both missing an eye, Jason is missing his left while Nemesis is missing his right.

New Blood 's Jason was hands down the best looking.. and I always compared Jason and Nemesis.. one other eerie thing they have in common- Nemesis loses both his arms and his head in the Treatment Room. You think he is defeated only to have him come back in his final form, which can tank a rail cannon blast. Jason loses his arm, right and his head just to come back in a similar fashion as Jason X, who can punch an androids head clean off with ease

Great video! It seems as if they are both incredibly strong. To be honest, Nemesis was definitely the creepier one since he was following you. One can only imagine how creepy the new version will be.

T 103 (Mr. X) made the most impact. Nemesis is just a t 103 clone that Capcom recycled for the RE3. The way Mr X was introduced to the game is the scariest. You see this helicopter, dropping what you believe to be a person with a tall stature, and you enter back the hallway and debris crumbled behind you and there is no turning back. Then all of a sudden you hear big loud footsteps, then you turn a corner in the hallway and see this hulking behemoth of a man walking towards you. And the music that played was one of the most terrifying sound you'll ever hear when you discover him.
Great point, I think I mentioned that in a couple of my videos, That I think the developers really made Nemesis as the foundation for Nemesis but added to that. @@HeYDeVuH But Nemesis was just as terrifying as well. How do you make a terrifying first appearance? Corner a major character in front of the main character and impale him with a tentacle in the face. Then present you with an intense decision making sequence where you either escape, with the threat of him still looming behind the doors, or possibly kill him so that you won't have to worry about him anymore, only for him to subvert that and jump through the windows with a bazooka
The music scared me more than the actual character it sounds like someone's unzipping something with intense music don't know how that's scary
Birkin is a much more terrifying monster than Nemesis. His transformations don't seem to end and just the body horror of the G-Virus really unsettles me.

Birkin didn’t really scare me much especially in the remake
Mr X was scarier. All I can is if Nemesis in the remake is just as fast as he we in the old one and can follow us everywhere like mr x in the new one I will literally shit myself.

RE2 remake is just 16 days away!! I'm so hyped to play that game already. I'm running my first play through with Leon and then Claire. And since I got the deluxe edition, I'll play with the default soundtrack before I tryout the classic soundtrack. I also want to use Wesker's samurai edge handgun model to see if they will give you the RE7 model or the RE1 remake model. Can't wait.

Birkin for me. There was something about the design for Nemesis that didn’t sit well with me (I’m not sure if it’s the trench coat and the horrid scarring)
You also just see fractions of what Birkin does and you are waiting with anticipation for the next encounter. With Nemesis, it eventually got to the point where I wasn’t scared and I was just pissed and furious that he won’t stop bugging me.
Also, I guess the other factor as to why I have to go with Birkin is that you see how he gradually goes from human to mindless murder machine that needs to procreate with someone of the same genetic structure. Nemesis on the other hand is designed to just be a killing machine.

@@HeYDeVuH To start off, your videos and commentary are great. Keep up the good work! I remember when I saw the trailer and seeing Mr. X getting gutted, you know the story and gameplay mechanics are going to be a helluva lot different than the original. The game just looks a lot harder.
It makes sense mr x and William would cross paths as mr x main goal was to obtain the G virus from sherry’s pendent and kill any survivors in his way. William was looking for his daughter from memory and also as a possible compatible carrier for the g virus . I’m guessing that Claire will witness a fight between mr x and William behind the elevator door , mr x is gonna fuck up williams first form then try to pry open the elevator door to get to sherry but then William will bring out the claws and stab him through the back

Checking in for #TeamNemesis ! And congrats on newest 500 subs man (last time I checked you had less than 400,) well deserved! :)
I do give hats off to William as he certainly has way more backstory to him, going way back to James Marcus and what B and Wesker did to him. We see Birkin ex. in RE Zero cutscenes when he is still human, and come RE2 Umbrella comes for him (gets shot) and he uses his G-creation on himself and becomes a monster. Seeing a human turn into this virus monstrosity got on my nerves big time when I was younger, it's still nerve wrecking to see in REmake2 how the "modern tech William" looks, very disturbing. He even shouts "kill me!" to Claire, which raises the question should you feel empathy for this former scientist- now monster who did terrible things in his life? It has emotional impact. The RE2 cutscene where mutated Birkin goes after the Umbrella agents is one of the finest cutscenes in the series, and it always left me wanting to see what he looks like in that mutated form, no matter how disturbing.
HOWEVER, I'm a flag carrier for #TeamNemesis as Nemesis had more emotional impact on me because he legitimately made me fear him when I played. Birkin was disturbing but I never feared him that way, Nemesis got to my head with never knowing when he'll show up (and that changes too as the gameplay changes depending on your choices!). I dreaded the idea of running into him, and when I did I truly freaked out, haha. There are two layers into the dread he brought to me: The "suspense music" which makes you feel really uneasy, you don't know where he's going to appear from and it makes you think twice about where you're going. Sometimes there's no other option than to go forward, and knowing that this music tells you that Nemesis WILL come to you is fear inducing. And then suddenly his threatening theme song blasts out and he shows up from nowhere where you don't expect him to, running towards you with all his body language roaring YOU'RE DEAD. Freaking terrifying. The composer of the musical score for the game absolutely nailed those two themes for him.
Nemesis cutscenes were also one of the finest Capcom created, you only see brief glimpses of him in the cutscenes and like the RE2 ones featuring B, Nemesis cutscenes always left me wanting to see more. Even more so it makes me want to see Nemesis recreated with modern technology, I'm not sure I would be able to play it immediately, haha. A big part of his impact also came from his dreadful roar and constantly repeating the (in)famous "S.T.A.R.S..." Sometimes you heard his distant roar off-screen and that really freaked me out as you couldn't know whether he's coming for you in the next area or not.
Two more things about Nemesis, in the Brad cutscene, as Nemesis takes him out he can be seen turning his head as almost in disgust. That always made me wonder if it actually was some sort of a reaction towards what he saw, lol. Secondly, I never noticed until recently that Nemesis only has one eye? The other "eye" only comes from the stitches he has in his head, you can see it in the rocket launcher cutscene up close. That stitch always fooled me to think it was an eye.
I'll be the first to admit that if you take Nemesis away from RE3, it's quite an empty game. But to me that tells of his impact and charisma, as an antagonist the tyrant single-handedly(tentacledly?!) carries the whole game.
WoW!!!! Thank You so much for the kind words and thank you for the great comment!!! I love how you dissected each monsters, even to Birkins background. But to go with what you said, I would feel bad for Birkin due to the pain he's going through with each mutation but the countless illegal experimentation and and the shady antics that he's done makes me not feel so bad for him. He knew about Lisa and was ok experimenting on her for years, He also knew about Marcus. Which he was pretty much a student of his, but was ok to Kill his mentor. Which is sad because I recently read that Marcus only trusted a couple of individuals, and it was both Birkin and Wesker. In the end he died from the people he trusted most.
With Nemesis, you're absolutely right that he gave us RE fans a terrifying but great time. It's crazy that one of the best parts of the game is when he's off screen because you never know when he'll pop out. It's those subtle things in the classic resident evils that made it an instant classic.

Yeah, all that backstory to Birkin and how he betrayed Marcus is kind of evil, even without seeing the cutscene I have a vivid image of him saying that infamous line over dying Marcus: "I will take over your research! HAHAHAHA!" That's one of the moments which I think back upon when fighting him in his monster form, developers really succeeded in making this character something that gets a reaction from you be it fear, sympathy, or hatred. I find his story fascinating. But like you wrote the man truly did abominable things in his life, experimenting on human beings and even killing his mentor and stealing his research. That is very, very evil.

Oh man, whoever came up with 'Nemillian' is a genius! xD Haha I like the idea of #TeamNemillian but tbh I'd lie to myself if I pretended Birkin had the same impact on me as Nemesis did, and I say that with total respect and not looking down upon fans of Birkin. Both monsters are iconic to the series and like you said, in their part they make both RE-games instant classics. You almost got me speechless with your compliment. It really is very difficult for me to record my voice audio since English is my second language, because it takes me roughly 4-5 hours to record the audio alone. So for you to enjoy my narration really helps me keep moving with this channel. I'm also very happy to know that you've been following my channel even before I got more subs. Like you said "If" my channel does get bigger, I'll do my absolute best to continue to reply as much as possible. It's only right for me to do that for other RE fans out there who spent their time commenting on my video.
As to your question of "who is my favorite protagonist"? I would say Leon. The reason being is I pretty much grew up with the character. Playing as him when I was younger, seeing him fight against the hordes of monsters while he was still a young rookie cop. Then later on playing as him again in RE4, were he is much more battle ready, then eventually to RE6. It's great overall to see a character progress as you get older yourself, it makes you appreciate were they first started and see how far they've come.
For your other question, My favorite antagonist is William Birkin. The reason for that was the gradual mutations that happens in front of you. It's not to say that Nemesis wasn't great though because I have him as a very very very close second. I just really enjoyed the aspect of seeing William be overtaken by his own creation, becoming unrecognizable by the end of the game. Because if you would have told me that Blob monster was a human at one point I would have doubted the person who said that.
But I still have to pay my homage to Nemesis, the tyrant who was nightmare fuel for me when I was roaming around the environment in RE3. The suspense was real in that game. Knowing that he may just pop in at any time really got to me.

Cool! Leon is charismatic and very relatable. As he has got to star in many RE-titles and you could see his progression from a naive rookie cop to this badass government agent, he was once green and inexperienced but then through experience and time becomes a badass secret agent. He has probably overtaken Chris as the (male) face of the series, my impression is that many fans think Leon when they hear Resident Evil. And for a good reason!
Gosh, that's a good question.
The series is full of colourful and fascinating characters but since we think protagonists, I think I relate to Chris the most back in his time in the Spencer mansion. He is this professional marksman (as per his role in Alpha team) thrown into a highly dangerous and unorthodox mission where he has no choice but face it all, and throughout all the dark corridors filled with horrors he radiates an "I've got this." -type of mindset. I could relate to that and it gave me confidence when playing the game. He's such a professional that he never panics and loses control, and goes through it all without any false bravado. A man I can look up to. That said, I didn't like his design from RE5 onwards as this steroid filled American boulder punching superhero, he lost that "normal" appeal. I think that mostly happened to the series as a whole, Resident Evil went Hollywood and never came back (until an attempt with RE7). The action RE-titles have lots of fans and by all means, but to me personally RE has the most appeal around the time of Raccoon City and the undead outbreak. But I digress.
My favorite antagonist would have to be Nemesis, * repeat everything from previous posts. * Birkin is right behind with his fascinating backstory and gradual monster forms, it really nerved me out to see him losing control of the himself and losing his humanity, both mentally and physically. I can't wait what his later transformations look like in the REmake2! As a runner-up behind these two, RE2 Mr. X also has appeal, probably since he follows you throughout the game. They've made him even more terrifying in the REmake2, those footsteps and the motionless facial expression! Terrifying. REmake2 is out within weeks!!

Also again thank you, I'm pretty happy that I said American, but in person you would be able to tell that I have a small accent, especially when I get excited with a topic or idea. With your decision to pick Chris is great. He was originally my favorite, but that changed with RE5 due to the exact reasons as you pointed out. I just didn't like how he became so roided out. It almost takes away from the horror aspect because we're now playing as a super hero character instead of a "normal" S.T.A.R.S. operative who just happens to be in a bad predicament. Also you're absolutely right that they went with the more Hollywood style of Gameplay for the later iterations of the Resident Evil. Which is fine by all means, but Capcom needs to remember what exactly made Resident Evil popular from the start. I think they tried to cater to the shooter genre that was highly popular at the time like Call of Duty and Gears of War.
Also my favorite supporting character is Claire Redfield, It was originally Ada but I just finished Resident Evil revelations 2 and I really enjoyed playing as Claire in that game. Also same as Leon, we see Claire progress throughout the years. Seeing her as a regular person placed in a horrific situation as Leon but coming out as one of the agents that now fights against Bio terrorism. Also by the way, a very close second is Billy Coen, I'm just hoping maybe we'll see him in the future.

As much as I love both of them. I have to go with Birkin. Not only was he the reason I got hooked to RE, but his impact into the whole story was greater than the Nemesis. He was one of the major causes for the outbreak, while Nemesis was just there to do Umbrella's dirty work. Plus.....I think Birkin's more ugly then nemesis (when mutated).
The constant mutations during the game always made you wonder what more can the G virus do to this human. It's crazy to think that this monster was once a human being. It's a scary thought to think of a scenario were a lot of people got a hold of the G virus and were injected like William. I couldn't Imagine several of those G monsters running around Raccoon City LOL. Also yes, Williams later transformations did look Menacing. I gave in to nemesis. Birkin was tough but Nemesis was a death sentence to me. Anyone who's played RE3 knows what I mean about letting him get too close.
He wouldn't stop knocking me down as soon as Jill was mid-way of getting back up and then finished me off I barely managed to escape one time.
That was pretty tough when he picked you up and tossed you then Jill would stagger for a second but Nemesis could pick you up again and do an instant Kill move. Anyway thanks for watching my video and commenting!!! 👍

Think about this. Birkin was killed by an explosion inside the train. Nemesis fell into a pool of acid, survived to grow and become a massive beast and survives multiple missiles from a rail cannon. Not to mention he tanked a lot more bullet lead than Birkin was since you encountered him more frequently. Birkin lost control of its humanity. The Nemesis remembered it's orders even when his limited coat broke off

How do you think can win in a battle nemesis vs William Birkin
Birkin was killed in his G-5 form by a relatively small explosion from the bomb inside the train, the bomb was not massive enough to effect Leon, Claire, nor Sherry even though they were not that far from the explosion. Curtis was killed in his G-2 form by the fire in the outbreak contingency plan in a building, he was not killed by an explosion. Mr. X took a swim in molten steel, a temperature thousands of times hotter than the bomb and fire that killed Birkin and Curtis, and he was completely submerged from head to toe and wasn't even hurt by it, the only damage done was to his power limiter. Nemesis took a nap in a bed of flames and the only thing effected was his power limiter and he was blown up in the Cable Car by Mikhail and was perfectly fine. If you drop Birkin and Curtis in a pool of molten steel it's a wrap, Birkin and Curtis cannot take that ammount of damage in any G form and survive. If a small bomb was enough to kill Birkin and an intense fire was enough to kill Curtis, 1 Rocket to the face from Nemesis would easily kill Birkin and Curtis with no problem at all. One thing that you are forgetting is that Nemesis can still function and mutate after being blown to bits it was shown in RE3 after his Torso was still trying to kill Jill before he mutated, Birkin nor' Curtis can function if they are blown up, if Birkin or Curtis is blown up it's over.
Very true! You're absolutely right how durable these tyrants are. Also you're right that Nemesis was just so persistent, even after being poured with acid as well. Like you said, his torso was pretty much moving on it's own trying to get Jill. It even took shots from a rail gun to even get it down. Even then he was still alive. Actually old re2 wasn't realistic that's why they changed that in the remake, also the explosion that killed william was the self destructing lab, all it took was a rocket launcher to kill Mr. X, as much as i love Nemesis he wouldn't stand a chance, what makes the g-virus more superior is the healing factor once you damage it alot but not kill it, it's game over and that's the unperfected G-virus.

Mr. X died from the Rocket Launcher because his power limiter was completely destroyed and it’s the exact same thing with Nemesis, firepower damage was ineffective until his power limiter was removed. Burkin on the other hand is effected by firepower damage at all times, which makes his defenses terribly inferior to both X and Nemesis. The G-Virus also has its limitations because of constant mutations as seen with Burkin in his G-5 blob form, which is the weakest threat of all G-1 through G-5 transformations. Birkins G-1 form was more dangerous than his G-5 form, which confirms that the G Virus degrades after 3 transformations as seen with Birkin. Besides if G-2 Burkin can be defeated by being hit 3 times with a Conex Box, what makes you think he can take 3 punches from Mr. X let alone Nemesis when we’ve seen they can easily punch and run through multiple walls of concrete with no effort at all?

well, i will side with the nemesis, not because im a big fan of his (i even got a pop funko vinyl of him tbh :D ), it's because of the following points:
- First off, let us all remember what resident evil used to be: Its horror and survival game, that means every thing is trying to kill your ass dead, and you are underpowered to fight again them, not to mention the rare resource in the games. William is a really tough boss, and a terrifying one, that's no doubt. Especially about his transformation, it is hidious and beautiful at the same time :D . But the thing here is: William's fight is a bit more "on scene", it lacks the "surprise motherf****", and the pace of the fight is a bit more controllable. I mean you can just run away and it is a bit difficult for him to catch up, you can unload a lot of stuff prepared before hand on him. In my first playthrough 19 years ago, facing William and after the first death to determine his moves, it was a bit easy for me to beat him, fair game i guess. Basically, his transformation was terrifying, but when you got over that initial shock, William does not seem to be that much scary, as you beat his ass and move on, waiting for the next expected encounter.
Nemesis, on the other hand, is not just f******* attrocious and merciless, he is so goddamn unpredictable. Unlike William, he cares not if you got a handgun with just little ammo, or a shotgun, magnum or even with just a knife. Basically he comes when he damn pleases to do so, and he does :D . 10 years after my playthrough with RE2, i started RE3, and boy i couldnd't trust my eye as he just "calmly" opened the door like a gentle man -_- and then presumed chasing me down to the hall, that was in the police station if i am correct. Then he shot me with the big gun, a bazooka, it was a wtf moment for me. It was so goddamn unpredictable that i lost my confidence facing him, for i did not know when he would show up. And then his strength, he was so insanely durable that i just decided to run, and damn he ran faster than i did. So much for my first playthough as i was so low in health, no herbs and he was outside, no way to outrun him. So huhuhuh -_- .
Nemesis, in a sense, gives you the fear as when you play truly horror game recently, like the first dead space, outlast, amnesia, or the evil within: A truly unkillable and so brutal boss that chases your ass from end to end, you cannot do anything about it, and that is the true fear of horror game, a fear of the inability to do anything about the situation. Nemesis was so succesful at the time for this fact. True you could kill him, but thinking back to the 90s when this game came out, i do not think there would be many people that had the courage to stand agaisnt him, not to mention beating the odds.
-Second, a quick point here, as i am running out of time and have to go teaching, nemesis vs William, not a bad fight, but considering Nemesis's intelligent compared to William's feral sense, I think William may not stand much chance, as Nemesis can just simply blast William with his big gun (or minigun, depending on what source you ask). If we are to talk about a pure brawl without weapon, well, let just leave it for another day :D , but I think it's a bit unfair when William got his pipe and Nemesis has to make do with his bare hands :D just kidding :D .
To sum up, RE3 remake yes please :D :D :D .
You made great points!!! I love how other resident evil fans out there can break down each monster and explain as to why one or the other monster would be the other.
So with William, it's true that he didn't have the same traits of following you from room to room but I think that got the players when we first played was his overall mutations that happens in front of us and it makes you wonder what's more to him. Because when I played this when I was younger I thought that this once human being couldn't possible continue on like this, taking so much damage. But after each subsequent fight he become faster and stronger, especially when he's on all fours in the final battle on Scenario A.
On the other hand, we have this tyrant who is hell bent on eliminating Jill. Showcasing his ability by ambushing Brad in front of the RPD station. It was the perfect intro to the boss that would stalk us throughout the game. Which caused us to have that "Tension" while going through the environment of Raccoon City. Also the fact that he wield a rocket launcher doesn't help our situation as well.
Overall both monster are great and made each their games amazing. Also I cannot wait to see William's later transformations in the new remake and I just hope that Capcom confirms an RE3 remake soon. Anyway thank you so much of your great comment and Thank you for watching my video!!!

It's interesting that Birkin mutates in what I imagine is a response to counter what ever is causing him harm but why the hell would he mutate a giant eye and even more giant eyes on his legs that seems like if anything a massive weakness.

I still remember being dooped into thinking I beat the game when that chopper showed up to the clock tower and vividly remember the overwhelming sense of existential dread when ol'Nimmy showed up to literally crash the party...

Nemesis is more scary based on his unwillingness to give up and the # of times he shows up. Burkin is the more fun to battle since he changes his tactics somewhat each time.
The original burkin has the creepier look and music. The new burkin is more fun to battle and harder to battle with how easy his later forms can get into your face.

Of course I'm biased because I've been #TeamNemesis from the beginning. I have no idea why I love that nuisance but I always found interacting with him to fun. I think i liked him because there was a bit of a sentient personality which wasn't really seen in previous boss monsters. It made him different. Although I noticed right away that the new Mr. X seems to have taken personality traits of Nemesis which he didn't have in the original, so I'm looking forward to being put to the test. I always found William Birkin's dog like mutation to the most challenging of his forms, but I always thought the final transformation in the train to be a bit more ridiculous than menacing. He literally looked like a giant asshole lol! 🤣

The thing everybody forgets is G-Birkin was an accident, while Nemesis was designed to do what it did. Birkin injected himself in an emotional moment in an act to revenge, and the virus took over, merely wanting to survive. Unlike the 1st Resident Evil, which essentially had no real antagonist (you could say it was more the traitorous Albert Wesker than the original Tyrant, whom Chris Redfield openly laughs at). Birkin was both a tragic figure and, as he changes, also becomes the antagonist: his forms become increasingly dangerous and violent as the man fades away and the virus takes over, often morphing in the middle of highly pitched battles. By contrast, Nemesis was built to seek & destroy, coming off as a nightmarish badass from the start, but, little by little, was worn down from taking tremendous amounts of damage after repeated battles. By the end, Nemesis is literally splitting apart in messy, failed attempts to mutate, like G-Birkin, into better adapted forms. Nemesis represents mankind's attempts to weaponize the virus, while G-Birkin represents Nature taking over after Birkin was infected.
You sir explained it perfectly! I love you comment and how you explained each of their mutations. Is almost that they're coming from polar opposites then finally intersecting with their strengths. As we see William start a little slower and less menacing compared to Nemesis, by the end we see William turn into this monstrosity while Nemesis, like you said, got worn down from all the damage from both Jill and Carlos. If William was never damaged by the characters would he still have mutated so badly? Cause those monsters usually mutate because of damage sustained to them so if he were never hurt would he have ended up more human?
I always wondered about that and I think we would transform like Curtis did from resident evil degeneration. Also I think Annette mentioned that he did this initially to heal his wounds from the gunshots so maybe that's why it took a little longer for him to mutate into his G3 form. I took a look of the model in Remake. That detail is still there, but gives a bit of sad vibe seeing a shred of Birkin looking lifeless from a body that’s no longer his anymore.

Willians backstory is what makes him a more interesting boss for me. His unwillingness to die, despite knowing what the Virus would do to him.

If you remember residents evil degeneration G-virus got crush when Leon used 40mm grenade launcher few rock crush him then he got a large gas explosive then still walking no matter what form nemesis trying to kill G-virus he still get up
It seems that way, William did keep mutating further and further after each fight, it seem like that's the way the G virus works. By constantly mutating to try to heal itself.

Yes there was, but someone said it wasn't canon which I can see because the events doesn't line up with RE2 and RE3. But it's a great concept though, I'd love to see William and Nemesis go toe to toe in game. Anyway thanks for wathing and commenting on my video!!!
Read the manga it was amazingggggg. It starts off with Birkin vs Nemesis. Then Nemisis and 4 Mr Xs vs Birkin in his four armed 3rd form. After they defeat Birkin a fully mutated super tyrant vs Nemesis
Read it and I thought it was great. Loved how they gave Nemesis a background and how tragic that he lost his family. Also it was great to see Nemesis and Birkin fight and how each mutation of William gave Nemesis a run for his money. Anyway thank you for watching my video!!! 😃

Great video. I love both characters but I'm team William all the way. Capcom gave him a deep backstory that we find ourselves emotionally invested in. His continued evolution through the different G mutations makes him one of the best main bosses in videogame history. Also, as someone else mentioned, the fantastic soundtrack also evolves throughout the many battles you have with him.
Also, where is the love for Mr. X? He is a fantastic secondary boss who almost steals Birkin's spotlight. He is also clearly an early prototype for the Nemesis itself. Capcom built around that concept of having a trenchcoat wearing Tyrant following you everywhere throughout the game when they created the Nemesis.
If they are indeed remaking RE3 as well, there is one thing I'm very excited for. It always bugged me in retrospect that Birkin, Mr. X, nor Nemesis ever came into contact with one another. Considering the two games happen at the same time and place, I will be totally stoked if we see these monsters interact.
I have this idea in my head where in Resident Evil 3, Nemesis engages in battle with the early form of Birkin and defeats him, only to come into contact with a mutated version later in the game. Maybe William survives the ending of Resident Evil 2? Maybe they tease Nemesis in the RE2 remake at the end somehow? Maybe Nemesis kills Mr. X? The possibilities are endless.
If they do tease Nemesis somehow i the new resident evil 2 remake then I'll be very happy. Because the story does make sense since RE3 does happen before and after RE2, which explains zombie Brad. Nonetheless the remake of Nemesis will be awesome and I really hope Capcom can official announce that it's in the middle of development.
Also you're absolutely right that the soundtrack that play during each of William's transformations were great, especially the one that plays in the final battle in Scenario A. @@captainjaber5610 I saw that in the trailer, I also put that in one of my previous videos. I think it's awesome having these two monsters interact with each other.
Nemesis T-Type is an extra special creation of Umbrella's to finish the work Mr X couldn't. He wields both a minigun and a rocket launcher, and has tentacles that could rip through anyone. Even in his base form, he could still throw us around as if it were nothing. Not to mention that he was spontaneous, showing up out of nowhere, especially at the worst times.
Birkin was the stuff of nightmares and his Prime form was nigh-invincible. Nemesis I'd say is much stronger, but Birkin was much more terrifying.
Nemesis is the most badass, memorizing and just fantastic villain in Resident Evil Universe 😎👍

Nemesis will be even more terrifying if they don't slightly modify the controls from the REmake. Dodging can be very difficult especially against Mr. X in some hallways and with nemesis being even faster it will be nearly impossible unless they make a new dodge mechanic

Yes he can do both of that, which makes him much more of a terror in the game
I'm playing RE3 again and I still love it but I'm struck but how unrealistic the city is. Capcom definitely have to make huge changes because nobody would except such an unrealistic city in 2020 something. I think remaking Resident Evil 3 will be tougher than people realize.

Very true, at least when we fought William's first form we can still see that he's still somewhat human but his later transformations tells otherwise. Nemesis hands down. Nemesis runs, jumps and shoots. Birkin just hobbles, groans, occassionaly jumps. Nemesis also kills a shit ton more people, and has a leather suit.
Also the intelligence that Nemesis has really makes him formidable. Just imagine what he'll be like in an RE3 remake. Anyway thanks for watching my video, I hope you enjoyed it!!!

Nemesis is a god antagonist, I hate him (I mean I like, but no when he atack the player) But I'm with William, and I'll love him in the remake.

I think both made a huge impact but in different ways that can't be compared.
William made the impact in the mutations part, in RE he is the first mutating monster and does it multiple times and each one seems more painful and more twisted, so every on screen mutation draws direct inspiration from William, including Nemesis.
Nemesis however made his impact in the stalker enemy, the unpredictable, unstoppable monster that chases you during the whole game. Mr. X was the original pursuer but in the OG RE2 he was pretty meh and easily downed, Nemesis however was super fast would jump around and shows to the party with a rocket launcher, not only that but Nemesis was unpredictable while Mr. X encounters were scripted (ironically Mr. X ends up being a better pursuer in the remakes than Nemesis.
So any monster that has a gory mutation is inspired by William like Saddler or Simmons, any Boss that will chase you and is invulnerable until a certain point is inspired by Nemesis like Ustanak or Bitorrez Mendez in the remake (although for very shot time).
If you have to pick which one is the more influential William wins because mutations are far more common than stalker enemies, heck even Nemesis has them.
Birkin being the creator of the G and the sole reason the T got leaked in the sewers. Hes definitely a larger impact of the Raccoon City story. Nemesis literally killed 1 STARS member
What about vs though? Shoot nemesis would blow birkin up for sure!
