Love the new heads introduced on both. I recommend getting the arctic gear pack and the arctic sniper gear pack for your republic guard trooper. Storywise, the Steel Brigade are the troops of Action Force. The Republic Guard are not affiliated with Action Force, but with the various Republics that formed after the US fell apart. The various Republics will contribute troops to Action Force in joint operations. I also pair the Steel Brigade with the Republic Guard troopers. And yes, the Steel Brigade vests have been greatly improved. Glad you figured out this vest 👍

I usually see the Steel Brigades as elite reinforcement troopers and i got that idea from Battlefront 2 2017 where like the clone commando is the elite reinforcement to the generic clone troopers
Even though with this wave it is supposedly not necessary, heat is your friend in closing the tabs on an Action Force vest. I use boiling hot water and a pair of tweezers. It makes it easier and the hot water doesn’t run the risk of damaging the vest or the figure. Another good review!
If the backpack peg was intentional, i think it's a great innovation. It makes sense to have it that way because gravity would also secure it to the back of the figure.

ACTION FORCE was ACTION MAN converted to 3.5 inches due to the popularity of Kenner Star Wars. It has its own lore involving Baron Ironblood and etc. When Palitoy discontinued in 1985, they imported GIJOE and revived ACTION FORCE as ACTION FORCE INTERNATIONAL. This new ACTION FORCE is from Bobby Vala and VALAVERSE with it's own lore. It pays homage to Palitoy ACTION FORCE but due to Palitoy owning trademarks like the Roboskull, Kraken, Baron Ironblood, Bobby can't use or revive those characters and he doesn't want to.

I believe Action Force is what GI Joe toys were called in the UK. Hasbro never renewed the trademark and Bobby Vala acquired it.
