I wouldn't use the word comforting as I wouldn't wish intense anxiety bordering on panic on anyone. Self-induced anxiety like that shows that someone is forcing a result at all costs for a short-term perceived gain. He was belittling himself for a lot of his training by comparing himself to others and risked many painful bone injuries while neglecting important aspects of his life.

Not a big fan of Crossfit but I like his commitment, humility & attitude.. very salt of the earth focussed and humble without any arrogance; which sometimes creeps into people who achieve
This guy for sure has great endurance and strength. I see people saying this is the truest test of fitness. Depends on what aspect of fitness you're looking at. In terms of raw power and explosive athleticism he isn't the fittest. In terms of strength and muscular strength endurance this guy is top of the line. He's honest too. Honest and hungry. I like him.

Mike Mitchell, it dont matter how old u are. Just commit to being the best fn version of you. 8 to 80 it dont matter. Live active, be happy, and keep grinding.
Being old is a class of its own. There was this guy from China who became a model at 70. Cezanne or some other watercolour artist was a late bloomer. Bobby mcferrin, Gotye, quite late for an industry that favours youngsters. U can be an inspiration to other senior citizens and late bloomers.
Klappersen, true, "There's no one giant step that will get you from where you are to where you want to be." But what separates you from the ones who make it big isn't talent, it's the everyday stuff...so stop complaining in UA-cam comments and go change something, make a better decision. You want to become better than average? Then it starts with today. Here are some quotes to motivate your lazy ass..... "Competence is often what people aim for as an endpoint. Most people sit somewhere around that point. They've got some sort of skill set and the sembalance of drive; they want to be good...they shrug and tell themselves, Meh I'm good enough." "Commitment at this level means being focused on each minute of everyday as a space to be perfected. It means devoting yourself to what others see as meaningless detail." "Behind most every talented person who has become a massive success is a daily schedule of grind, hours of suck, and a whole string of difficult, lonely moments working on the tiniest details that will get them where they want to go." "People want to boil down elite achievements to "born with it" talent; it gives them an excuse for why they're not at the same level. They don't want to hear about the hours upon hours upon hours of patient, meticulous practice that achiever went through to get where they are."
My point is the psychology, my point is _positivity_ . "dispite probably being better than most at the beginning anyway" - my point is that we shouldn't focus on that. How do we know when they started? "Teenagers heads"? - being a teenager is a perfect time to start! You embrace the hard work?...so you are just sitting back and watching others succeed and not working hard yourself. Just because you haven't gotten anywhere doesn't mean that others can't. There's always going to come a point where it's "too late" if you are 50 years old and want to work for NASA and be an astronaut then that's probably not going to happen..it's not realistic...you can't do annnnything you want but it all has to do with proper goal setting: *S.M.A.R.T goals: Specific. Measurable. Attainable. Relevant. Time Bound* As I said before, society always just shrugs at highly talented people and we think we can't be like that, people just look at elite achievements and think they are born with it. I think sometimes people don't realize how much actual hard work and long hours go into getting yourself to the top or even just where you want to be. Don't be disappointed with the results you didn't get, with the work you didn't put in. It's about doing the little things and details everyday that people aren't going to even pay attention to, that's how you'll achieve excellence. Anybody can strive for that. My other point for you specifically is to change the way you think, if you continue to think like that and that you can't achieve high level goals if you simply put your mind and focus toward it, it's never going to happen. It becomes a self fulfilling prophecy. In the words of Mat Fraser's coach, "if you talk about things that are outside of your control, things that could diminish your performance, you will see and experience more of those things. *If your story is telling you you're not good enough, not smart enough, too old, too young, or can't do it, your subconscious will believe you.* "
I'm not a crossfit athlete, and I don't like it in general... But I'm gonna say that I respect the athletes at the top level of this sport, this guy for exemple works his ass off! Who will disrespect these athletes because he just dislike the sport is just an ignorant, we should all support eachothers even from different disciplines

Bodybuilding has literally nothing to do with fitness and Crossfit has literally everything to do with fitness, so not sure what you're even trying to say.
Some of these comments are beyond belief. I have nothing but respect for someone as dedicated and as passionate as Fraser. Nitpicking the title that the winner of the CrossFit Games gets instead of appreciating the motivation, willpower and hard work that this man has poured into one of the hardest sports on Earth is just sad.
Nedret Mujčinović Jesus Christ is the truth, the way and the life. He loves you and died for your sins, so that you can get forgiveness. He can make you free of that bulls**t !
That's true, I'm not hating on the guy or anything. It's just that he's the "fittest man" with in the confines of this one contest. If it were pure running, or pure power lifting, or gymnastics he'd loose hard. Plus I'm sure theres some chemistry at work here, just like ever other sport.
True, "fit" is pretty relative. Although Crossfit takes into consideration all the aspects and principles that make up sport, fitness, and skill. You call it "pure", but that's the specific sport you list. Where as CrossFit includes running, power lifting, gymnastics and more so it forces the athletes to be mainly a generalist and not a sport specific specialist. "CrossFit is not a specialized fitness program but a deliberate attempt to optimize physical competence in each of ten recognized fitness domains"
aabb1166 Look up Ido Portal, I believe those guys are more of what you're talking about. Complete movers, crossfit is very limited compared to what they do.

Wasn't Lance Armstrong on anabolic steroids, as well as, PED concoctions and blood doping. That guy was scrawny as ef but look how he steam rolled the competition. You can clearly tell in some cases that people like Rich Froning at late stages of the crossfit games looked like the workouts didn't even hurt or gas him one bit while everyone else flopped around like fish. There are many forms of roids too btw. Anabolics which everyone accuses these athlestes of help maintain muscle mass while cutting, which these athletes do to boost their cardiovascular capabilities. They are on the same routines as every other paid to win athlete out there. Don't just assume based on looks. Performance is a notable tell a lot of the time too.
Plosp Rawrs Lots of smaller people take steroids. Roofs have nothing to do with size unless gaining size is your goal. Getting too large will almost always negatively hurt any real professional athlete.
If he had massively improved his results at 2016 I'd say PEDs all the way. You don't get that kind of improvement over time if you've competed at elit level for like five years or more. No way. After 25 years of age the body does not get better as time goes by. You improve but you improve slower and slower. Combine that with someone who has already passed the 10000 hour mark and is close to his maximum capacity and you will either stagnate or lose that edge. Technique is possible to improve at that point but you won't get stronger.
these comments are unbelievable....never realized so many people hate on a guy that explains his dedication and commitment to being the best at something he digs. I think he is trying to say there is way more emotional benefit that is derived from this type of dedication than actually winning the championship. his tattoo of the serenity prayer says a lot about him as well. i am 57 yrs old and crossfit has been an excellent way of keeping in shape for the past 4 years. hope to be doing it when i'm 77
2 things about this video that goes to show the determination and background of this man's ideals. First he came from an engineering field of studying , this man's no mindless jock that only 'lifts weights' as some people comment below. Second..the last question of this interview and the answer it is given. that look tells it all
Everything is inside crossfit: from the most refined psychological abilities, to the most brutal strength and cardio; passing through technique, coordination, eficiency, smooth mobility & pacing. The fittest soul in the whole world! Including sniper's shot. Like in the Rogue 2019 invitational, in the olympic (winter's games) based biathlon. Really awesome.
Legend, used to train everyday on his own in his basement. Just absolutely driven to succeed, even when he was studying to be an engineer, his work ethic and mindset were amazing
I love how when people see a great physic from any athlete they immediately resort to saying they are on roids or hate on the sport and what hard work and effort they put in. Its honestly hilarious
When you think of the billions of people on the planet and you get recognised as the fittest person on earth. That is just incredible. I really do think cross fit athletes are the fittest on earth as their sport encompasses everything speed, strenght endurance , flexibility.
*@Cyrille Pottier* ...Mais, bah oui; c'est en vrai tout archi-magnifique, lui, hein?! Moi, je l'adore trop [ ...j'suis une meuf, au fait ({; > ...! ] !!
I got no problem with the title, its just a title. It may seem odd to some, but he's found something he really loves to do and he's also gifted at it. I give him props for that.
I give David Goggins the title of fittest man. Having the endurance to run 205 miles, yet break the 24 hour pull up record. Running Ultra's at 190lb, while most ultra runners weigh 120-140lb. Master of his body weight, yet being able to to deadlift 405 without training it. All while running 100+ miles a week, and logging 700 mile cycling weeks. The guy also has done 3 hell weeks in a year, which no one has ever done. He became a Navy SEAL as well. Once ran 800 miles in 8 weeks. What's scary is he's in the best shape of his life even now after recovering from a hole in his heart his whole life. I'm pretty sure he's won Ironman, Ultraman races. I know he got second in one of his first races, and he destroyed his bike during the same race. I think the ultra is a 6.2 mile swim, over 100 miles biking, and a marathon. These guys are two different athletes, but considering David is much more of a hybrid athlete. David Goggins is the fittest man alive.
@@jblake615 Depends on your definition of fittest man. I give goggins the edge because he's multidimensional with his fitness. The ability to lift heavy weights, master body weight, and run over 200 miles. If I was going to battle, I choose this guy over someone whose just good at crossfit. Goggins workouts are likely way more sadistic and twisted than this guy as well. He wouldn't be whipped in a workout. I doubt he could lift more obviously but that's not what he trains. But could Mat train how goggins does daily? I highly doubt it.
I read that book “can’t hurt me” absolutely!’ 💯the fittest man on earth! Yes Matt Fraser worked hard and dedicated himself but Goggins said to “govern your mind” take control of the pain and suffer don’t be 40% of yourself! Absolutely Goggins is the fittest man on earth!
honesty and the ability to be genuine is something despite it being liked or not is a respectable quality. down to earth non self appraisal effort shows a side a life that is real- that it doesn't need to wear masks. thank you for posting.
I once had courage to start cross fit, my mind was 100% ready for it, my body was not. He's talking about ignoring any pain you may feel, yea i did that :> my knees are now so fucked for last 2 years I can't even start running. DO NOT ever ignore what your body tells you.
Fittest Man on Earth is just a title people. Just like the World Series champions are "World Champions". Are they actually world, champions, no. Fittest Man on Earth is just a title that translates fittest crossfitter/crossfit champion. So don't everyone get your panties in a bunch because of a title. just take a breathe and realize the world isn't going to end.
I see your point, but you do have to admit that both of the examples you mention are kinda stupid titles that should really be changed. Because they are kinda a spit in the face of other athletes. Hell, Fittest Man on Earth is in a way more obnoxious (even though it makes more sense) than the World Series because the rest of the world kind of doesnt care about baseball and the World Series champion could probably trash whatever team the rest of the world could come up with. But Fittest Man on Earth, come on... That's just silly.
It is really fascinating to watch the journey of crossfit athletes or any athlete actually. How their bodies change and grow as they continue their work. Mat from 2 years ago is not the same Mat as in this video I can only imagine what he looks like this summer.
He IS the “Fittest Man On Earth”! Anyone in this chat who gave a thumbs down, who questions this and feels like they too could carry the title, Crossfit 2021qualifiers and games are coming.
No...... bless your heart, cause you’re the type that won’t amount to being a champion at anything, this guys an engineer because he has drive, the same reason he’s in such good condition. If you really think that takes peds you’re a complete dumbass, I’m sure you’ll amount to a lot
Wait, you think he's natty? He's 5'7 190+. He is in no way anywhere near natty. Decent genetics, but definitely not the genetic jackpot. His FFMI is 28. That's higher than Arnolds. He skips 2/3rds of the key compound lifts and maintains that muscle mass doing made up exercises and body weight work. It's literally impossible to maintain that level of mass on the program he does, at that height.
@@FadePlaysGames Yup, people seem to think that saying he's on something negates all the hard work he does. It doesn't negate it at all, it's whats necessary to compete at the highest level in any competitive sport
why can't someone be proud and happy with what he has accomplished just because someone put's him in second place. the guy is in amazing shape, superfit and gets respected for what he's doing, yet still not happy. i mean still go for your goals, nothing wrong with being ambitious, but acknowledge what you already got.
Know what you mean, bro; "You are the changes you want to make in this world." You can do it. Trust yourself. Be proud of yourself. But get enough rest between the workouts and have fun. I personally compete only with myself. I don't need to be the best, just better than I was yesterday or a week or a month ago or longer. Love yourself. That is easier when you're doing the right thing, doing what makes you happy and feel good about yourself. do what makes you feel strong and alive, excited and free. Achieving your goals gives a sensation of freedom. Still, working towards the goal is just as valuable as reaching the goal. Being successful is measured by how glad we are in general. Life is joy. It should be. Never give up. Be yourself.
We enjoyed watching the video. It made my wife and I realize more what commitment is... kept having to tell each other that this was "your job," LOL. Anyway, I wish you would have also included what your diet consisted of, how many calories a day, etc. Otherwise, you are one of the greatest athletes around. Good luck to you. Cheers.
LOL @ triathletes being more fit that CrossFitters. That’s is an incredibly myopic view of fitness. Triathletes have phenomenal endurance engines. But that’s where there impressive fitness ends. Have you seen a triathlete pick up a barbell? Seen them test their vertical leap? I have, and it’s NOT impressive; it’s actually sad 90% of the time. There are elite triathletes who can’t box jump onto a 24” box. CrossFit has a very clear definition of “fitness.” Some people may not agree with it, but they seem to be unable to actually refute it. 🤷♂️

Legend, used to train everyday on his own in his basement. Just absolutely driven to succeed, even when he was studying to be an engineer, his work ethic and mindset were amazing
Props to this guy for not removing his chesthair to look more muscilar. Love from Holland ;)
AGREED
"He might not be perfect, but hes gonna work harder than anyone else" my goal is to reach 3rd place in the games.
I love how when people see a great physic from any athlete they immediately resort to saying they are on roids or hate on the sport and what hard work and effort they put in. Its honestly hilarious
Dude how the fuck do these people stay motivated I mean after each workout they feel like dying and they keep going. Mad respect
nah, david goggins takes the cake
Whoever does the videography for these crossfit athletes is talented.
World's best exerciser. Zero pull-ups were harmed done during filming.
Most inspiring video I have seen in a while. Honest guy.
Everyone a badass until they start doing burpees with Iron Wolf.
Hahaha u r so right
Wolf pack is everywhere!
When you think of the billions of people on the planet and you get recognised as the fittest person on earth. That is just incredible. I really do think cross fit athletes are the fittest on earth as their sport encompasses everything speed, strenght endurance , flexibility.
That shot of steam coming off his body was cool
The first 1:30 minutes of this is pure gold - so many motivational quotes
A legend is born on crossfit, everybody knows your name, you work had for this, respect!!!! A french supporter
*@Cyrille Pottier* ...Mais, bah oui; c'est en vrai tout archi-magnifique, lui, hein?! Moi, je l'adore trop [ ...j'suis une meuf, au fait ({; > ...! ] !!
This is 22 minutes of Matt basically explaing a Champion's mindset! Rare breed 💯👍💪❤
From aerospace engineering to a top athlete like this jesus fuck you know this guy is resilient
This is inspirational for me I feel like I can do what I need to seeing someone who’s gotten like this I have a role model now
Special forces of CrossFit ! The man is a beast and pure legend of CrossFit
A good all round down-to-earth sort of chap.
The GOAT: deserves a movie, not a documentary.
I got no problem with the title, its just a title. It may seem odd to some, but he's found something he really loves to do and he's also gifted at it. I give him props for that.
Nothing but respect for you Mat, you're seriously a boss and you're words run through my head daily when I'm training. I hope you win 1st 2k17!
David Goggins is the fittest man alive.
watched his joe rogan interview, that dude is just on another level
@@Ozzyisunavailable his book is even better. Unreal.
He’s an endurance and body weight athlete. Fraser would wipe his ass in any kind of Crossfit workout. Mat’s fitter than Goggins
This just made me put my phone down and go to the gym haha
Lots of respect for the Young man, pure hard work, dedication honest trustworthy person 💯%
CrossFit in the end isn’t competing with other opponents but rather ultimately fighting against your whole self, how far can you push and beyond.
I like how he is honest about the stress about competing
I started Cross fit 3 weeks ago and I love it . It takes about 6 visits but then you want more
Frickin beast! 10 years of Olympic lifting. All the man had to do was learn to walk on his hands
honesty and the ability to be genuine is something despite it being liked or not is a respectable quality. down to earth non self appraisal effort shows a side a life that is real- that it doesn't need to wear masks. thank you for posting.
I once had courage to start cross fit, my mind was 100% ready for it, my body was not.
He's talking about ignoring any pain you may feel, yea i did that :> my knees are now so fucked for last 2 years I can't even start running.
DO NOT ever ignore what your body tells you.
wolverine has a child, he grows up and the writers and figure out wtf the movies about but mat fraser plays him.
mat is the new wolverine
I have so much respect for you Matt ☺️, you are incredible, you should be proud of yourself, well done 💪
That's just silly.
full respect. He is honest and exposes the truth being the best.
It is really fascinating to watch the journey of crossfit athletes or any athlete actually. How their bodies change and grow as they continue their work. Mat from 2 years ago is not the same Mat as in this video I can only imagine what he looks like this summer.
The important thing is not that he has been trained more than u.. Is that he has a mindset powerful than yours
I love this dude..... he is the real deal
Amazing training ethics. What a mind set. Legend.
He IS the “Fittest Man On Earth”! Anyone in this chat who gave a thumbs down, who questions this and feels like they too could carry the title, Crossfit 2021qualifiers and games are coming.
stupid ass title for a stupid ass theory
Fittest man on earth will always be Rich Froning. Mat is a beast no doubt but Rich was a next level competitor.
1:11 That's just badass right there
watch that ear jiggle at 14:50
World class !
LOL... attention to details.. hehehe...
lol good eye!
Dude's got some lobes on em
what`s the name of the song?
1:11 this is actually pretty cool looking, surprised no one has mentioned it.
Yo that’s some anime rage mode shih ahahahaha
Always be proud of yourself, even on days without training, no matter if you win or lose. Be proud of who you are.
He’s on the cutting edge of PED’s. If you think the top 10 dudes are clean, bless your heart.
No...... bless your heart, cause you’re the type that won’t amount to being a champion at anything, this guys an engineer because he has drive, the same reason he’s in such good condition. If you really think that takes peds you’re a complete dumbass, I’m sure you’ll amount to a lot
This guy hit the genetic jackpot
Wait, you think he's natty? He's 5'7 190+. He is in no way anywhere near natty. Decent genetics, but definitely not the genetic jackpot. His FFMI is 28. That's higher than Arnolds. He skips 2/3rds of the key compound lifts and maintains that muscle mass doing made up exercises and body weight work. It's literally impossible to maintain that level of mass on the program he does, at that height.
@@FadePlaysGames Yup, people seem to think that saying he's on something negates all the hard work he does. It doesn't negate it at all, it's whats necessary to compete at the highest level in any competitive sport
how does he recover after workouts, my body would fall apart!
Proper food and nutrition 🤦🏻♂️
Sick mindset, but in his head it pays of. Crossfit is self-torture. Only respect.
why can't someone be proud and happy with what he has accomplished just because someone put's him in second place. the guy is in amazing shape, superfit and gets respected for what he's doing, yet still not happy. i mean still go for your goals, nothing wrong with being ambitious, but acknowledge what you already got.
Reminds me of Crixus The Champion of Capua.
"And that, that was when I knew I could do this"
Bad Ass....sooooo motivating....Love ya Mat!!
Cheers.
theres a video on his diet , search it
This is how Batman and/or Superman or Captain America should look like physically
At 1:11 when THE STEAM IS COMING FROM HIS BODY 💔Dedicated!
Discipline & dedication 🏆
Great Job Matt , A Hell of a Lot of Discipline Man , I am getting tired just watching you work out
you gotta love that! "lm gona do today what other people are not willing too,so l could do tomorow what others cant"
Song that starts at 11:25 ??? Solid documentary btw. He words the mental struggle of maintaining 100% effort so well.
I respect this man so much, always looking up to him.
Mae G. Bhahahaha fucking why CrossFit is trash
In my opinion the fittest athletes in the world are this;
Fighters
Triathletes
Crossfitters
(David Goggins is his own species lol)
David is not even in the same class as Fraser mate, Fraser has reached a different level of fitness he is truly the fittest on earth!
@@calvynvanwyk1395 I just put David in for a joke mate
Oh my bad😂
@@calvynvanwyk1395 hahaha it's cool
LOL @ triathletes being more fit that CrossFitters. That’s is an incredibly myopic view of fitness.
Triathletes have phenomenal endurance engines. But that’s where there impressive fitness ends. Have you seen a triathlete pick up a barbell? Seen them test their vertical leap? I have, and it’s NOT impressive; it’s actually sad 90% of the time. There are elite triathletes who can’t box jump onto a 24” box.
CrossFit has a very clear definition of “fitness.” Some people may not agree with it, but they seem to be unable to actually refute it. 🤷♂️
SONG AT THE START IS CALLED VINEGAR BY 'SKIES SPEAK'
Thanksss
He seems like a real cool dude, smart down to earth guy.
