A classic. This might be my favorite tony hawk game simply because of the memories. My cousin used to bring this over with his Xbox and we’d play for days.
Used to pull all-nighters to this game. To be young again. Nowadays, I can't even imagine voluntarily losing sleep just to play a video game. Games were better when they didn't rely on the internet.
I remember seeing commercials on TV for American Wasteland that were advertising the game as revolutionary for not having any loading screens. I got the game and realized that the loading screens were just hidden by making you skate from one area to another! You can also fast travel with a couple of vehicles in the game, and those were essentially a hidden loading screen as well. I have many fond memories playing this game, thanks for the video!

I felt a bit jipped but again I was just a dumb kid but I still feel like my mistake was understandable?? anyone else think the same as me?? Lol nevertheless GREAT T-hawk game. Don't get me wrong it's a good movie but, like other similar movies American Psycho, taxi driver, and American History X, etc whenever someone says one of those is their favourite or masterpieces it sets off red flags for me. Because most times than not for the people I meet who say they "like" on of those those films, like them for the wrong reasons and miss the point of them entirely.
@MrIndiemusic101 I know what you're saying and kind of feel you with that. However I think you should (not in my case but generally) differentiate between people saying masterpiece or personal favorite. If you like fight club for example because of the fight scenes and it's that what makes you have fun watching the movie - go for it, nothing wrong with it. Falling down has always been one of my favorites - propably for the "wrong reasons", too. I know all about social injustice or inequalities or reflections of the American society but what makes me love this film is mostly something different. But who cares as long as I don't get into discussions about if this film is better than XYZ.

The hyper-gross out comic book bits really brought everything together, I know people prefer THUG but this has a much better story that actually feels like a story (as opposed to unique missions in skate maps) - really appreciate the skate tape at the end as well, it was the one thing missing.
Takes me back to gamestop days when this was on the front rack by the entrance. As well as being promoted heavily on Mtv with Green Day. This game was special.

Fun fact, the two main characters, player character and Mindy, are voiced by Terry McGinnis and his “sidekick” Max, from Batman Beyond, being a nerdy skate kid growing up, that fact, the soundtrack, and the game being simply just really fun, this was and is my favorite Tony Hawk game

This was peak THPS for me. The punk rock inspired aesthetic, the awesome music, and the mechanics and gameplay were at their best here in my opinion. The fully completed Skate Ranch is really a blast to shred too, pulled off some of my highest scoring (legit) combos there.
This game is littered with pop culture/movie references too. The part where you get the bag of goodies back for Mr. D is a homage to the film Falling Down.
I find it odd that you didn't mention at all is that another feature of this game was that you can switch from a skateboard to a BMX bike with a button. That was the one thing I loved about this game the most. I was a kid who preferred BMX over skateboarding so even though I played through all the "THPS" games. I'll always have a soft spot in my heart for the "Dave Mirra Freestyle BMX" games & "Matt Hoffman's Pro Bmx"

This game was my favorite out of all the Tony hawk games it’s was the only one to ever have bmxing included and the music along with the story absolutely blew my 4 year old brain into the stratosphere and made me skate plus bmx and listen to the music I heard then until now this game will always be a great reminder of my childhood
American Wasteland is the last one I actively played for any amount of time. I enjoyed it, it had some cool gameplay, but it definitely felt a little bit old for when it came out

One of my favorite games of all time. Had copies for GC, OG/360 and played it endlessly. It’s also crazy to think the run the Tony Hawk games had up to this point. 5 amazing games, 5 amazing years back to back. So glad I grew up on this
I remember playing this back in my childhood i was able to complete the game in ps2 with no memory card save storage in one go in. 3-3.5 hours . This was the first that i ever completed a game in life abd feeling of completing a game for the 1st in your life feels like such a achievement and like a proud moment for yourself like you did something but childhood experience aside the tony hawk franchise did setup a whole new generation of gamers .
