I have never felt more pain than watching that NVME.
Looked more like the metal sheet that goes over the drive on some laptops
It's a transition to a piece of cardboard
It’s crazy how you think a pcb can fold like that
I had to watch twice but thankfully it's only a smooth ass transition into a cardboard piece
I know it’s cardboard but I still flinched when he broke it.
I really thought you just broke a M.2.
Yeah that was pci-e -5 😂😂😂😂
Yuck, I dont do external. More cables more clutter. Vomit. Id rather buy pcie adapter cannhold 4 ssd at once.
Bro what is M. 2
@@Shahid98you dont know? Bro how somebody dont know a m.2
@@Shahid98 m.2 it's a type of port so m.2 is for ssd's if I am right

Okay JESUS that was a very convincing ssd crack until I watched it for the 2nd time seeing it transitioned into cardboard 😂

I suffered a mini heart attack seeing the NVME SSD folded to death 💀

Yea then I looked and it's cardboard 💀
Ngl it was so sudden ,my heart skipped a beat and it hurt
I mean it could have been a non-working SSD 🤔🤔
@@Generationalwealth94if cardboard is a non functioning ssd then yes
There are PCIe expansion cards so you can actually run them at acceptable speeds. But if youre on regular desktop hardware you can only make 2 of them run at full speed if theyre nvme.
I've looked into them. The Asus Hyper M.2 is the one I was thinking of getting, but there were compatibility problems that made me shift to a mini-itx build because money.
If you're maxed out on m.2 slots, you're not even getting acceptable speed from the one's in m.2 ports lol, you'd be all dried up of bandwith.
@@mycelia_ow depends on several Things. For example some boards only hook up one m.2 slot with 4 lanes of the fastest pcie the CPU Supports. Usually the highest mounted one. Lower slots might only get 2 lanes or pcie 3.0 when its a 4.0 Chip or just sata. But if youre not doing straight data transfers but normal everyday usage like most people do you wont notice a big difference between even 4 lane pcie 4.0 and sata if they both have decent controllers since youre not limited by data tranfer rates but how fast the controller gets the data from the nand. Typical ssd operating speeds when gaming or browsing are in the hundreds of MBs.
@@TheDude50447 Exactly. This is what a lot of people simply refuse to understand. If you don't go BRRR with the data transfer rate then you are good to go.
“Regular desktop hardware”.
M’fer what boards are you running that tap out at 8 lanes of PCIe? This comment is like the fat dude tapping out at mile 0.5 of the Marathon saying “24 miles just isn’t humanly possible” while getting lapped by the ladies auxiliary on their 5K.

Im pretty sure he can afford it
It's 3d printed
That is cardboard lol...
Been looking into this and at the “dockcase” brand theve been killing it lately. Def worth looking into. Much smarter than just a drive enclosure.
Bro gave me a heart attack in 69 ways
SATA enclosure for it exists too incase your USB ports too slow
Plot twist that nvme was already not working and damaged beyond repair.
Nope, plot twist is it’s actually cardboard and it’s a very convincing transition lol
Nice transition 👌👍😂
“How to slow down an 3000MB/s+ NVMe to only 600MB/s”
I mean it’s better than just letting them sit. Extra storage is extra storage
still infinitely better read n write speeds than a hard drive
My 7500 slowed down to 5500 I'll take the manual hit lol
Maybe on a cheap USB enclosure, but using a adaptor to full-sized PCIe shouldn't affect performance at all. NVMe drives _are_ PCIe devices.
@@mallardtheduck1 yes I have an older motherboard so I bought a cheaper enclosure.
But when I was doing my shopping the 7500 speed was actually the second cheapest cause of the sale that was going on. So I got more speed and $10 less than than the non-sale ones.
Eventually I'll get an updated motherboard which more than one m.2 slot
There are also PcIe adapters for NvMe expansion. Like it slots into the small PcIe connection.
Did I just feel that crack
That transition was so clean
Quick note guys, NVME M.2 ssds aren't able to be usb'ed, but other M.2 can, why? Caude they are *Sata III* M.2 and not *NVME.*
SATA M.2 work the same as cabled sata ssds, while NVME ssds have a whole different data protocol, as they connect literally directly to the motherboard i know that only cause i had trouble when i bought one.
@@Wallace_Tan thank you for helping notice that i wrote nvme vs nvme
@@Wallace_Tan these are pretty hard to find, and probably because of the hardware it takes for the data rerouting process, its probably just worth it replacing your ssd and migrate system using another ssd if you have another slot of a different connection, wich was exactly what i did.
There are many NVME>usb adaptors with varying quality, Ideally try and find one that supports 10Gbit (1.25GB/s) speeds using a chip like the RTL9210
Yeah this is 5 months late but someone might only be coming across this now. :)
nvmes can be usbed but u need a special ic to convert nvme storage to usb mass storage(or not if ur useing usb4
or use a PCI-E expansion card for NVME drives.
No, in my case I definitely have more slots than SSDs :P
Same. I have like 4 slots. What the hell am I supposed to do with that?
Me too, I have one total slot
If you have a gaming pc and ps5 u can put the old m.2 in ps5 by taking cover off
I don’t even have one m.2 SSD. This is just relatable for the middle class
But why? Its so cheap nowadays to the point that buying hdd is kinda pointless.
@@blushingralseiuwu2222 2x the price of a hdd so yes when you take speeds into account it's a better purchase but I have 4TB in shucked 500GB hdd's that cost a weeks wages that would've cost me 2 months wages if I bought ssd's, some people just make minimium wage
@@altins997 A good brand m.2 sure will be expensive, but modern local brand m.2 3.0 are good enough and don't break the bank.
Remember, SSD is very durable and got few process in its manufacturing, you don't need good brand because its very hard to fuck it up. The speed will be a little bit slower, but its still waaay faster than high end hdd. If you're in doubt with buying less reputable brand, sata SSD are cheap and not that different than HDD price.
Or, just do the old trick of buying low storage ssd for booting and then buy hdd. Trust me, buying SSD is probably the most impactful upgrade you can do for pc that doesn't need a lot of money.
Like shit, a 500gb Kingston M.2 is like $40 last I checked. Just buy that for booting and apps, huge difference.
It hurts. Everything hurts. I’m gonna go cry now.

Currently sale in Netherlands m.2 2TB for 100 eur
Doesn't that remove the entire point of having it plugged directly into the mobo? Having a slow usb wire will limit the speed. At that point, just buy a high storage portable hard drive.
Yep and just have the main game to play run off the M.2 and he might was talking about him was upgrading your m.3 ssds to faster speed ones
That was some clever editing :D
Connecting Permanent storage to any kind of USB is a crime
you can also get m.2 to sata adapters for like 14 bucks
it’s great to act as like a flash drive but it’s limited to usb 3.0 speeds so not great to use for high res games

That jumpcut was insane, almost no artifacts of whem you swap the nvme with cardboard

Okay THAT EDIT SMOOTH
the breaking was heartbreaking but the sound effect is nice for the breaks
Glad I'm not the only one who had a heart attack seeing that "SSD" cracked. I repeated it at least 4 times to verify it was cardboard.
More tip: use Thunderbolt 3/4 for the best speed ( 20 - 40 Gbps ), or use Usb 3.2 × 2 ( 20 Gbps )
If you use it like a really big and fast pendrive, usb3.1 is fast enough.
good editing effect, it is a small piece of painted wood, I have broken an old one and it doesn't break so easily like that
Asus makes a nice PCIe adapter for 4 NVME drives into a single full size PCIe slot. Comes in Gen 3, 4 and 5 too.
Got one of them in my homeserver where I'm running the 4 drives in ZFS, works wonderfully.
For a second I actually thought bro just snapped the nvme 😭😭 honestly I wouldn’t be surprised
Bro my back spasmed hearing that crunch 😂😂😂
Never even thought about m.2 to usb. But makes so much sense. I feel like those would be even better than getting external ssd’s. I’ll look into that & even sata’s
USB5Gbps=good for SATA ssd's as they are about 500-600MB/s
USB10Gbit= try and get a usb3.2 gen2x1 adaptor using an RTL9210 or newer chip and that will only limit an NVME to 1.25GB/sec (still that translation latency).
USB20Gbit=long time before you're likely to see one in the wild.
If having a fast USB isn't important and you just want more M.2 slots get a PCIE slot adaptor.
@@tomstech4390 yeah I’m thinking of getting one m2. And one Sata just for storage purposes. I do other media heavy work so it can be stored there easily for me for that kind of work
That was a really good jump cut actually!
A bit ago, I got a PCIe card from my techie grandfather that allows for two extra M.2 drives. Haven't tested it yet, but great concept.
moral of the story: if u have more than a m.2 NVMe, snap one in half and a random portable thing for NVMes will appear
1000th comment btw
Can’t believe it’s 2023 and I still have don’t have an m.2 ssd nor a motherboard with an m.2 slot, still rockin that sata ssd
M.2 raid controllers. You can create multiple arrays for separate storage or spanned or raid 0 if your a speed nut.
Or just buy a PCI expansion card 😅
You can plug them into the drive cables.
I got one of those PC i.e. Adapter. It’s pretty sick.
Nice cardboard jumpcut 👌perfection
I felt that crunch in my chest
Why you twisted that dude I need it
And then He put the USB in a only USB 3.0 connector that can't go about 600 Mb/s 😮
USB 3.0 Gen1 5Gbit=625MB/s (theoretical limit, usually far less).
M.2 SATA3=500MB/s
M.2 NVME= depends on generation, but in theory yes there will be a cap to the maximums (random read/writes will be under the caps as SSD's are often marketed well above what they'll ever see in normal usage).
@@tomstech4390 m.2 sata 3 speed is 600MB/s according to the spec. Normal sata drives dont go over 520-540mb/s due to loses with sata cable etc.
@@mikkelgraff6879 Yep, my bad, was being too generic.
NVMe M.2 drives _are_ PCIe devices, just with a different connector. The earliest NVMe drives actually came on full-sized PCIe boards. The adaptor boards are cheap and have no active electronics, so will not affect performance, unlike USB enclosures...
Honestly I like the pcie to m.2 adapter being if you have the right motherboard with 2 16x slots
clean cut, i saw the back material change on that m.2, but you scared me there
There's also an adapter that uses a PCI slot that can hold 2 m.2 or 3

There are also pcie cards if you want to keep it internal

Enough consumer systems don't have enough lanes for that tho and you get to sacrifice from somewhere else
For example on the board I have you get the choice between either
1) your third non-x1 pcie slot (it gets x4 iirc)
2) your second m2 slot
3) 2 sata ports
Or Alternatively you can make the choice between
1) x16 on the first pcie slot and no second big pcie slot
2) both on x8
YO!! I JUST REALIZED MY PC CAN'T USE HARD DRIVES!! I NEED THIS SOOO BAD! THANK YOU SO MUCH BRO!
