Hi Mike, none of us can eliminate flies-but we can lessen their negative impact. Kudos you're developing a plan to control them and that's the "best" recipe !!!
Hey Mike, now your having way too much fun I don't know which one I like better the salt gun or the vet caps either way shooting them is a whole lot of fun🤔😲🤠😉
Our Vet talked about this. Had a client that used the gun. After 3 months of use they would run away. Ever been shot by paint gun on your skin? Fly tags and a product called Martin's Cyonara plus pour-on insecticide. Drop some pellets or corn out. Cows come up and squirt on them. Will keep horn flies off for 30 days.
The "Big Stinkys", what we used to call them work pretty good with a little water and a piece of raw meat in the bottom. Yes it smells bad but not as bad as that attractant. You can also use the Malrin granules in there and they work as well. I don't know what kind of flies you have but we used to empty those about once a week. God bless
I use the salt gun to shoot on the out of rim on Coronas when we are having parties, COVID safe, I just walk by and shoot the bottles I love it 🥰 and you could use salt or Tajín
The A- salt gun is a hoot! Been through 2 so far. Painting the farmhouse a couple years back, after working all day, the cool ones come out. Found them at Bass Pro. After a while, you can shoot the little s#### off each other. Thanks to my sons; Steve, Mike, and Ed
🪰⚡️🪰 BIGGEST battle of the warm season for all animal/livestock owners/caregivers !!! That is a very interesting salt gun zapper YOU demonstrated.🪰RESCUE FLY BAGs here in the desert, lure thousands of flies into the stinky traps. You have to maintain them as the water evaporates fast, in HOT temperatures, so bring the water level back up so that the bag does NOT dry out. It keeps working until it is FULL ❌🪰❌ ❗️
If you get a chance check in to a Dr. Scratch cattle duster. My dad sold and used them for years and they worked really well. I think that they are made in South Dakota.
I use the fly canasters as well an I found you can reuse them like 3 more times instead of buying new ones just add some bread an more water an leave a lil bit of flys on the bottom an the stench continues due to the yeast. They fill up very fast an work very well! Great for camping around the home ranch etc.
I got a couple bug a salt guns in February, killed like eighty flies every morning, eighty when I got home, the flies kind of quit appearing end of May, now I haven’t killed a fly in two weeks. Addictive? My arms were sore from pumping that thing, I couldn’t stop and I miss the routine, a little. I’m convinced I made a difference.
It's a good idea to use a fly control in the mineral as well. I use the Vet Gun along with Gro Tec Ag Land Fescue 7 mineral with Rumensin and Justifly. The rumensin prevents coccidiosis, Justifly works from the inside out. Just my two cents.
I manage a horse boarding property in southeast Texas, utilize a spray system (chemical free) in the barn. Supplemented with tubs screwed in the rafters with a powder (Bayer product). Oh and I have one of those salt guns too. Yeah it’s to much fun.
Can remember a few summers when the green head flies were all over the party boats. They could hold onto a part of the boat during hour trip out in the ocean. As soon as boat stopped they were on you. Use to say they don't bite they drill holes into you.
Wow , This was very interesting, I learned something new about flies and had no idea that there was products to help control flies from getting on the cows.👍🏾
I have horses and use the Big Bag Fly Trap. It is amazing how well that attractant works as by the end of the season the bag is FULL with decomposing flies. Smells terrible. 👍🏻🤠. I have mine is sunny areas, not many flies in shady areas
I tried the Vet Gun Three or four years ago when they were introduced. Used it for a year after that I quit. Didn't have the long term effect they claim especially if it rains. I found that it worked for four to five days then the fly count went back up. That said I've tried everything but minerals with fly stop garlic and cinnamon seem to help more than anything else. Fly count dropped about 50 percent. I will however use the Vet Gun if I get a cow or her calf with pinkeye. You don't shoot the calves. But if you shoot the cow the oils from the insecticide will rub off onto the calf.
😂 I like how the trap bucket instructions says "add CLEAN water to the fill line" .... As though your not mixing up a bucket a stinky shit (probably literally) for fly's to be attracted to! Lol
just got a sale paper with your bug-a-salt gun its 34.97 at Bass Pro Shops. I know my dog hates flies he hides from them or at least tries to. Thank for the video
Performed electrical work at large homes that had barns with 2 to 8 horses. All of these barns were fly magnets. All had 2 or more bug zappers. Only place that draws more flies is a pile of dead crabs. Used to go crabbing several times a year. One time we came back with a full bushel of crabs during an extended heat wave. Any way a few crabs got loose in buddys trunk. Don't know what was worst a trunk load of flies or stink from dead crabs.
DDT. that’s the good stuff. It kills both flys and Cowboys. LOL. Norby. I’m old enough to remember kerosene stoves, Delco and the ice man coming every other day.
I wonder if that vet gun treatment could be used to save moose from ticks here in the northeast. You could even make it a "hunting season", letting hunters apply the capsule!
Please forgive forgive me on where I was saying our bank has not showed if it was taken out every month or not please let me know I love your videos I have learned a lot from your videos thank you
Mike, you’re having just a little too much fun. Seriously, some years ago I used quart size fly traps. I found orange juice worked pretty good, got stinky quickly in the summer heat and the resulting layer of dead flies even better.
So to understand how it works…the ball hits the cow and bursts open? What happens with the orange ball after it hits the cow? It was hard to see when you made the application. Love the fly eliminator!
What about the cost of the vetcap ????? What were you doing to fight the flies before the vetcap??? Great video for just he simplest unknown problem on the ranch!!!! Can't wait to see the container and how many flies it catches!!!!!!
It’s basically just a modified/specialized Tipman 98. You could probably use a co2 or nitrogen tank made for paintball and it might cost less in the long run than buying new disposable co2 canisters.
I have the camo edition bug a salt. Solo cup with a little drink in it.....post up and keep the salt container close. I seem to enjoy it just a bit too much 😆
UA-cam suggested video? Hmm, anyways, I'm a Trucker and I run up to Hardin, Montana ( only in the spring and summer ) but I would love to live up there, but I dont wanna drive Truck. Utah, Wyoming, Montana, Nevada, Colorado etc are such beautiful states. So underestimated. I ran to Hardin Last winter and didnt hit any snow, but the snow was all over. I used to live in Massachusetts amd it's just as beautiful in the winter. Love it up there, but if you have to chain up, you dont need to be driving.
Nothing like getting hit with a paintball. Human skin is EXTREMELY sensitive. These does have skin that is super tough and doesn't have nearly as many pain receptors as humans. They barely felt it. It just startles them.
We use the fly jars in the chicken coop, horse stables and LOVE them! We use a small piece of meat in a wee bit of water for bait. Serious question. Could a person attach one of the XP 820 tags to a hat they wear outside working?
Who'd have thought a vid about killing flies would be interesting? It was!
I'm glad you liked it :)
Is this what they call a Wyoming drive-by? shooting cattle with fly repellent from a gator.
People would pay good money to do this. 😉
@@johnfox4691 hell yeah, even Mike said it's a lil too much fun.
Good Evening to Our Wyoming Life and all others too.
Its afternoon in Wyoming. 🤣 Good evening to you too.
Hello! Hope all is well
Hi Mike, none of us can eliminate flies-but we can lessen their negative impact. Kudos you're developing a plan to control them and that's the "best" recipe !!!
Been waiting all week to escape the ordinary 😁
Welcome back!
Glad i found ya folks
Glad i found ya folks
Mike's having just a little too much fun plinking flies. 😀
The vet caps need to have a color included in the mix, to identify cows that you have treated before like a actual paint ball gun.
i believe they do that. its hard 2 see it on the camera as its small.
That is smart
They do
I've used the VetGun for 2 calving seasons now and love it. Super handy when the nearest corral is 3 miles away.
I like the fly buckets. I have had real good success with them.
I received a camo bugasalt from my kids for a father's day gift and I can confirm it is the best thing ever!!
That definitely looks like way to much fun with the vet gun. Thanks for the fun video
Great Work Mike! Everyone have a happy ad safe weekend.
Same to you
I love the little comments you make in your videos. Your sense of humor is awesome! Makes me laugh everytime 😆
Is there a milder version I can use on a certain ex-wife? She bugs me.
I can check for you :)
All ex wives bug ex husbands. Just stay away and don’t talk
She may want one to use on you (laughing)
EX wife???
Now don’t be talking about ex wives , we may want to use bug a salt on you lol
I would sure like to try one of those! looks like fun 😂
Saw the intro and immediately thought of Sonne Frames. Then Saw Cole's post
I saw them on sale at Cabela's

Mike another channel i follow he put a type of blocks out has garlic and other stuff it has help a lot to control the flyes
So today you're Lord of the Flies.
Thank you for the reminder I just set some fly ribbons around the stables 😂
OK My Son and I would have WAY to much fun "working" at keeping the fly population down with both of those. GREAT VIDEO, thanks for sharing.
God Bless

Dudes going for vitals like he's actually hunting 😂. 10/10 shoulder shots 👌

Aah a good one Mike. A little fun in stressful times. You need to do more fun stuff. Cheers

so glad you put this video out having fly problems of my own
I got a couple bug a salt guns in February, killed like eighty flies every morning, eighty when I got home, the flies kind of quit appearing end of May, now I haven’t killed a fly in two weeks.
Addictive? My arms were sore from pumping that thing, I couldn’t stop and I miss the routine, a little. I’m convinced I made a difference.
We've always put out Golden Malrin fly bait on wet gunny-sacks up high in a shaded area of the horse/cow barn. It kills them by the wheel barrel load.
It's a good idea to use a fly control in the mineral as well. I use the Vet Gun along with Gro Tec Ag Land Fescue 7 mineral with Rumensin and Justifly. The rumensin prevents coccidiosis, Justifly works from the inside out. Just my two cents.
You looked like you were having a little too much fun "working" 😂😂😂
Hate seeing how dry you are out there...praying for rain for all us plains ppl. love both guns, hehehe :)
I own and love my vet gun. Bought it last spring. It is almost as handy as my side by side, and that’s saying a lot.
They also sell the “green” balls that i alternate between the orange ones which gives you the best efficacy
I manage a horse boarding property in southeast Texas, utilize a spray system (chemical free) in the barn. Supplemented with tubs screwed in the rafters with a powder (Bayer product). Oh and I have one of those salt guns too. Yeah it’s to much fun.
I LOVED the reaction your cows were giving, "what the hek?!" 😆😆
That smile was pure Happiness, Excitement.
My husband insisted on an electric bug zapper. Hated it when a large bug got stuck. The noise and smell😂😂🇺🇸
Can remember a few summers when the green head flies were all over the party boats. They could hold onto a part of the boat during hour trip out in the ocean. As soon as boat stopped they were on you. Use to say they don't bite they drill holes into you.
I wish that was around when I was trying to solve that issue in the herd.
Lol the ole drive by but what got me laughing was how he said he wouldn’t mind shooting certain cattle twice lol I felt that
Wow , This was very interesting, I learned something new about flies and had no idea that there was products to help control flies from getting on the cows.👍🏾
I wasn't gonna sub... But then I found out there are going to be updates on fly traps... I'm in!
🤣
Missed seeing your vlogs. Thanks for sharing.

In our goat barns we use the fly reels sold through valley vet, also need the hardware kit. Work excellent
You are having wayyyy too much fun with that bait gun!
Thank you so much for useful lesson.
Glad it was helpful!
Now that was fun! Keep up the great work!
I love your license plate collection
That bug-a-salt is cool! I've used one, they're very effective.
I tried the Vet Gun Three or four years ago when they were introduced. Used it for a year after that I quit. Didn't have the long term effect they claim especially if it rains. thanks very informative the salt gun looks fun good video man good job
Fly trap = quart jar, water, old fish, nail holes in lid. Works.
I've been looking at one for my farm thanks for the video

just got a sale paper with your bug-a-salt gun its 34.97 at Bass Pro Shops. I know my dog hates flies he hides from them or at least tries to. Thank for the video
Bug Assault is super efficient for a home owner best part is it doesn’t splatter the fly. Highly recommend BUG ASSAULT.
You handle that fly gun like a pro. !!
My son has one of those salt guns, he loves it. Fly hunting he goes....👌

In Louisiana we wear a jacket in 80 degrees.
Love the fly gun.
Lol in Michigan we wear shorts in 40 degree weather

Great job training that fly to land on the camera right on cue! 😂
Just call it a cap gun. Looks like a fun and beneficial job.
That looks like a lot of fun!!
Your dad wants one!
No surprise, although I see Tam stealing it and not giving it back!
We have a bug a salt gun 3.0 love it
Very cool. I had one of the first prototypes, it broke but was fun too!
Mike, you’re having just a little too much fun. Seriously, some years ago I used quart size fly traps. I found orange juice worked pretty good, got stinky quickly in the summer heat and the resulting layer of dead flies even better.

You are having to much fun 🤩
Hey Mike what would it take to come out and help you out on the ranch for a week or so?
Your having WAY TO MUCH FUN LOL

At 6:11 this man is living his best life
Have you thought about building a fly box. Cheap just some wood and black paint. They catch millions of Flys. Plus you can put them everywhere.
Bug a salt are awesome!
