He was not Albanian. He was a Turkish Vali (Governor) from Kavala, modern day Greece. He is known as Kavalalı Mehmed Ali Paşa in Turkey. (Mehmed Ali Paşa of Kavala). I am from Kavala as well. His family was brought to Kavala from the Eastern Black Sea region of modern day Turkey. However there were some important Albanians who left Turkey and moved to Egypt for different reasons. Turkey's national poet Mehmed Akif Ersoy was an ethnic Albanian from Kosovo.
@olsi pajo As you know, Turks and Muslim Albanians created families. Of course it's possible that Mehmed Ali Pasha or I have some Albanian blood. But ethnic and cultural roots of him show that he was Turkish. Even after a century Turkish was spoken in the Egyptian palace. The relatives of the Khidiv (Title of the family of the Pasha) served to Turkey and they were speaking Turkish as mother tongue not Albanian. (Example: Said Halim Pasha - Prime Minister of the Empire during the World War).
@olsi pajo I have read the article but this article doesn't show that he is an Albanian. Please find and read the letters of his son Ibrahim Pasha. This is not a propaganda. Mehmed Ali has done nothing for"Albanians" or "Turks". He has worked for himself and Egypt. I have no problem with Albanians but every Muslim in Balkans is not Albanian.

There werent any albanian princes in Macedonia or Epeirus. Those terretories were inhabited and controled by Greece. Expect, if by saying "Macedonia" you mean North Macedonia, a slavic country that has nothing to do with the ancient Macedonians.
Albanians moved to present-day Albania from Sicily during the Norman-Byzantine wars in the 11th century, as Norman mercenaries. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Byzantine%E2%80%93Norman_wars At that time, the territory of present-day Albania was known as the Serbian Littoral, and was inhabited by Serbs. The capital of Serbian King from the 11th century, John Vladimir, was Shkoder. John Vladimir was buried in the Orthodox Church in present-day Tirana. Which dates from the period before the arrival of the Albanians. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jovan_Vladimir
Israelis also create stories (not very similar) to say that Palestine is false, an Arab invention, and that all that land belongs to Jews by right [justifying their occupation].
@lagjes cuni2 Just look at genetic research. The Illyrian central regions are present-day Dalmatia, Bosnia and Herzegovina and Montenegro, dominated by haplogroup I. Today's Albania was the outskirts of Illyrian habitation ... In Albania dominates haplogroup E, which is characteristic for North Africa and Sicily...
'Albanians' that fought in Sicily had nothing to do with Albanians from Balkans. They referred to mercenaries from Alba Longa in Italy. Balkan Albania gets its name from the Albanoi tribe. Also Serbs were a very big minority in Albania so what you said is bullshit. You do not even need documents to see who was first, simple genetics shows Serbs mostly have genetics similar to other Slavs and Albanians are closer to antique Balkan populations.

Didn't know Golem destroyed the first Albania....
Grigor Kamona destroyed it. Dhimiter progoni married a serbian princess in order to make peace with serbs then a year later "died naturally" with no heirs. The serbian princess married general Grigor Kamona who gave arbanon to byzantines again. Golem overthrowed Grigor but Arbanon was already weak since byzantines didnt keep the promises and anexed albania fully. Then durin epirus-byzantine war the population supported epirus in the south while the lords byzantines. And at the end albanians just choosed normans from sicily since both epirus and byzantines betrayed them

Not very accurate you forgot Principality of Arta ,of Shpata ,dukagjin ,Balsha and many more
@Panos - Sim Racer lol search for Principality of Arta a Albanian Principality Arta is a Albanian word Arta means "Golden"(city) in Albanian .i didnt said anything for Sparta tho
@Panos - Sim Racer Arta was a Albanian principality and Shpata is another one ,Gjon Bua Shpata was the ruler of that Principality .in ancient times yes it was Hellenic but the name Arta and what im saying is Albanian ,im not saying anything for Greek history
@Panos - Sim Racer go in google translate English Albanian and write e Arta . Golden .Arbër (Albanian) also mean Peoples Made of Gold in Albanian ,these are the meaning.
@Panos - Sim Racer dude dont try to tell me justifications and lies .Arta was a Albanian principality of 13-14th century ,Arta means Golden city in Albanian. The river doesnt even match the name Arta .Arta is also a Albanian name for womens and as i said Arta was Albanian principality and thats why the name is Arta still search for it in google if u want .and the Leader is Gjin Bua Shpata or in English "John Spata" (Shpata is a Albanian username and means sword)
@Panos - Sim Racer dude name Arta comes from Albanian ,Albanians controlled it in ancient times it wasnt called Arta tho so it was renamed by Albanians. Golden City doesnt mean they have gold it means Beautiful city in the way we Albanians say things like if i call you Golden guy in Albanian in fact im saying great guy or beautiful/nice,etc guy .Arbër(the medieval name of Albanians) is still used by Albanian Arvanites and Arbëresh in Greece and Italy still they dont say we are Albanians or speak Albanian they say we are Arbër and we speak Arbëresh . Arbër means Peoples Made of Gold. Are we really made of gold or flesh?! It means Great peoples ,nice peoples ,beautiful peoples and many other great names it can mean ,this is Albanian language (edit : Arta was also part of Albanian territory till 1912 before the Treaty of London happen and they gave out our lands for free for no logical reason except saying" it may stop wars in balkans if we give Albanians lands to other neighbours because Albanians just got independence again so they cant react" which didnt work ,"peaceful" serbia started ww1 2 years later for wanting even more lands like always ... )
This is the history of Albania and not Albanians bcz u should include the princes of epirius who were albanian in kosovo and macedonia
Um, did you look at the title?
There werent any albanian princes in Macedonia or Epeirus. Those terretories were inhabited and controled by Greece. Expect, if by saying "Macedonia" you mean North Macedonia, a slavic country that has nothing to do with the ancient Macedonians.

Albanians moved to present-day Albania from Sicily during the Norman-Byzantine wars in the 11th century, as Norman mercenaries.
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Byzantine%E2%80%93Norman_wars
At that time, the territory of present-day Albania was known as the Serbian Littoral, and was inhabited by Serbs.
The capital of Serbian King from the 11th century, John Vladimir, was Shkoder.
John Vladimir was buried in the Orthodox Church in present-day Tirana. Which dates from the period before the arrival of the Albanians.

@lagjes cuni2 Explore the Internet by yourself. Without my suggestion. You'll find exactly what I'm talking about ...
Hahahahahaahahahahahahahah I can't believe the ignorance 😹 of the people but with the fact that a can't believe it ... I believe it hahahahaha
