Very brave...and well done. It occurred to me too you could put a pretty, flat button or bead on the holes and run either a midori style elastic through the hole on each side and run the elastic on the inside to fix. Or beading elastic if the beads have small threading holes. It's a great idea....not sure I could do that to my favourite filofax! 😉
I used brads as well. and I have even changed them with the season for variety. I didn't close off with glue and felt, but ran washi tape over it in a neutral color. :) all i know is that I love my nude filofax and my hobonichi, so this was the perfect solution. glad you did this video, i could never get mine done on camera. thank you! i will put this video in one of my favorite videos and point people to it if they ask.
Nice job but I am curious as to why you didn’t do the reverse? remove the pages from the hibonichi, punch holes and put them in your Filofax?. Wouldn’t that be the best of both worlds? You wouldn’t damage your Filofax (My A5 Filofax cost $500 and yours looks like leather!) but you’d have The nice quality paper with the added convenience of being able to move pages.
Just Call Me Hanna some people simply just don’t want rings lol. For me it takes up too much of the space you could be having. And I like archiving full books.
Did you wind up using this? How did it work out for you? I’m trying to decide between this or selling my A5 originals and buying one of the new folios, which are designed to hold books like the Hobinichi.
I just found this video just in time! I have fallen in love with Hobonichi and have been wondering if I could use it my beloved nude patent Filo. I'm so happy I stumbled on this video! I'm going to give it a try. Fingers crossed I have the same success. BTW, are you still using your Hobonichi in the Filofax?
ohmyheart I'm actually using a Maybook and the May Designs Folio right now. I like to mix it up though so I may go back eventually because I REALLY love the hobo.
Why not just press in some grommets so you can use elastic or even use for dangles and other decorations. Then you can leave the holes but they will be nicely finished off. Just sayin:)

Turned out so well! I am going to give it a try with a personal size to use as a wallet...wish me luck!

+K.M. Bates thanks so much!
That turned out really well! Love the little hems on the spine, nice save🤗💗!
From babying it to removing the rings?
This is brilliant! Thank you for sharing 😊
I tried this today and broke my tool trying to pry the piece out. I can't get it. Not sure what I'm doing wrong.
hi could you tell me if you tried tucking the cover of the hobo in to the side internal pockets ...

Aunty Ro Knows also a good idea!!!
You should include your social media links in the down bar, so viewers can follow you if they wish.
wow,Thanks so much. I was planning to do the same thing.
Good video. You would never know the difference.
Terrible idea. Better idea would be just to sell this one and buy one without rings.
