  • We've recently completed the first iteration of the Exercise Rogue Ambush Series in the Northern Territory.
The exercise was held from 15 June to 02 July 2021 and involves a wide range of tactical flying activities across the Northern Territory, and is the graduation exercise for the first Australian F-35A Lightning II operational conversion course.
Exercise Rogue Ambush 21-1 aims to produce combat ready personnel ready for operations, including pilots for F-35A Lightning II and co-pilots and aircrew for E-7A Wedgetail aircraft who are ready to deliver air power for the joint force in peace and war.

“Sometimes you need to search for that extra motivation.”
Couldn’t agree more, videos like this just boost my motivation to get that RAAF pilot role and it’s people like this that I mould my personality and morals around to be more like the brave men in the RAAF, NAVY and ARMY. I’ve been knocked back 2 times now from interviews and now now this time I’m ready to knock the interviewers socks off with the kind of person I am and have grown to be, combining what I’ve learned from both interviews into a super confident candidate

Hey man, I too want to become a pilot in the RAAF. I too have also been denied twice. This video and your comment has given me the motivation to try it again one last time, to finally achieve that aviation dream. I wish you luck and if you are successful, fly high.

At cadets I got to stand less than 10 meters from a F35 because we are beginning to actually see the aircraft in person. We've seen EA-18 growlers, F/A-18 super hornets, a kc-30 ( I wasn't there sadly) and a F-35. I forgot what we're seeing next, but I'd love to see the C-130 or C-17. We might actually go in them because we went in the KC-30

I just shared this on a facebook aero page complete with the blurb:
THOSE MAGNIFICENT MEN IN THEIR FLYING MACHINES
This page does bill itself as "fotos & videos of military aircraft" so here's the latest and most mesmerising video I've seen yet out of the Royal Australian Air Force, whose photography section I worked in as an Air Cadet in the early '80s. Despite a ton of bitching from the press and public alike, the F-35A has been replacing our old Hornets squadron by squadron, and this 5 minute piece commemorates the graduating pilots' final test 2 weeks ago, which simulates war. Hearing them speak helps me believe we're in good hands, and with China being all kinds of threatening lately, they might just end up in action sooner rather than later. At the end of the day, it's the man behind the stick that matters. The all-out action starts at 3:38...

    1. What percentage of applicants become a pilot? (is it a realistic career choice)
    2. Why is fast jet pilot a “priority role” on the adf jobs website
    3. What is the difference between going through the officer aviation path and the University path?
    4. What obstacle causes the most people to fail becoming a pilot?

    • @bksiv
      @bksiv 2 роки тому

Bombers are just too expensive for the raaf to operate. The closest thing we have to a bomber is the super hornet. It can carry a fairly big bomb load, and double as a fighter, which is much more bang for buck, and a better aircraft for a small air force than an all purpose bomber

Bit too artistically presented for my taste but good to see some combined ops. I'm sure it's harder than it seems, otherwise its a pretty big g up for F-35A's with tanker & wedgetail support vs super bugs.

Saw my first 2 ship fly way up high over dreamworld during the 2021 sept school holidays.
    Awesome and distinct sound indeed.
However still nowhere near as cool as an F111 " hollow pipe growl " nothing will ever be.
Also, maybe the RAAF should point out height restrictions as a possible " you'll never fly a fighter jet" reality.
No matter how smart or apt you are.

It’s a recruitment video. I thought it was very low key and factual. Where was the glorification of war? There was none, just a description of what the process of becoming qualified on F35 involved. These guys are training to put their lives on the line defending us. Is that the glorification you are referring to? That is just the reality of the job.
