I have spent decades now being depressed at the loss of Jeff Porcaro and Mike Porcaro. Almost as bad as Andy Gibb and Robin Gibb and Maurice Gibb all being deceased while only the oldest Bee Gee, Barry Gibb is still alive.
They were a big part of M.Jacksons Thriller album..Their members have played on over 5000 albums that have sold over 500,000,000 copies you can fact check me lol
I came here to say that, essentially. The homie wants to crap on them, but he prob doesn’t realize how much music he loves that wouldn’t exist without Toto lol 😂
@@MatthewFierros - “Human Nature” was written in 1982 by Toto keyboardist, Steve Porcaro, who received some lyrical assistance from wordsmith John Bettis. The idea for the R&B-tinged, soft rock classic came from a conversation Porcaro had one day with his young daughter Heather; she was bullied by a boy at school and she asked her Dad, Steve, "Why?" And he told her: "It's just human nature". That's where the song came from. Michael Jackson did not have any part of the writing and lyrics of Human Nature. We know the band quite well (some of them were raised in our county in Cali) and we still see them in concert. Steve P. has even given me my nickname: "Ro".. Yes, Toto is still performing ; to sold-out crowds, especially in Europe, where they are adored. And they are still producing records.. React to "BURN" from one of their more current albums and sung by Joseph Williams, on front vocals..and Toto does a great rendition of singing "Human Nature" themselves..

Really like this song, a lot. Much Respect the players of Toto quality musicians. Africa and their other songs…. Not a fan but this is an all time favorite! Ironically I met my wife in ‘78!
While this is true, it misses an important part of their story. Before they became studio legends the members of Toto were teenagers playing together in the Porcaro garage. Drummer Jeff Porcaro caught on with Boz Scaggs and eventually brought David Paich and Steve Lukather into the fold. Soon the three Porcaro brothers, Paich and Luke were first call studio guys in LA and decided to get the old gang together, so to speak. Luke was 18 when this was recorded and 19 when it was released.
Several played with Boz Scaggs on the Silk Degrees album and tour. I saw Boz in 1980 and as I recall several were part of his touring band on the Middle Man tour. The Procaro brothers' father Joe was also a jazz musician. David Paich is the son of Marty Paich who was a keyboard player/arranger/producer with big name artists of the 1950s & 60s. Good lineage
Steve Lukather is a beast on guitar - and the only original member still touring as TOTO. Most of TOTO were regular players on albums by Steely Dan, and individually, played on various top-charting albums released in the 80s and 90s. The Porcaro brothers were the sons of studio percussionist Joe Porcaro. Steve Porcaro co-wrote and co-composed "Human Nature" on Michael Jackson's Thriller. Jeff Porcaro and Lukather also played on multiple tracks on the album.
There’s a reason Boz Scaggs had Toto backing him.. they are one of the biggest studio/backing bands in history…The members have collectively and individually played on over 5000 recordings!!
Toto is one of the most talented group of musicians ever assembled,Songs White Sister, Pamela,Till the End and lots of others. Steve Lukather is absolutely one of the greatest guitarists ever.
Bobby Kimball is singing lead on this one. He is from my hometown of Vinton, Louisiana and is a family friend. Yay Olli ❤. Definitely check out " Georgy Porgy " I bet yall know it.
The opening piano riff was inspired by "Hot Fun In The Summertime" from "Sly & The Family Stone" by the pianist himself! Great reaction guys! Peace, Love & Blessings!!!
Steve lukather is an amazing guitarist! He played the famous riff on Beat it by MJ which eddie van halen played the lead guitar on! He also played on albums by lionel richie, boz scaggs and many others!
The lead singer on this is Bobby Kimball. He left the group in 1986. Joseph Williams (the son of John Williams, the famous film score composer) took over and sang lead on "Africa," which was released in 1986.
Boston - Foreplay/ Longtime- Every kid in the late 70s had this cassette in their car!! Everybody had it!! This was on heavy rotation in my 1965 mustang fastback! Be patient with the start of the song-,wait for longtime yo hit
Jeff Porcaro was a session musician also. He played with Steely Dan. He's recorded a plethora of tracks for other artists. An endless list of famous songs he's been on.
Check out one of their later songs (mid 80s) that is a fav of mine. With the original film clip. Angle Dont Cry with another singer Fergie Frederikson. Think he only did the one (Isolation ??) album with them.
Now you have to listen to Jane by Jefferson Starship (Jefferson Airplane basically). Yes this is the one to start with lol. To really appreciate their talent watch a documentary on them. They played on some big records as studio musicians. One of my favourite channels guys. Peace from an old 🇨🇦 rocker.
Guys, these are some of the finest sessions players who one day got together and said, “we can do this,” and Toto was born. I suggest you pull-up ANY number from their 35th Anniversary DVD, “Live from Poland.” It’s one of a handful of Concerts that are worth the time by anyone, from beginning to end. Drummer Simon P set on kit for the Who in the 90's Tommy Tour. Was sitting on the grass at RFK about 10rows back. Blew me away. Moon was smiling. Great reaction gentlemen. Thnx.
There's another version of this song live from their 35th anniversary tour. Joseph Williams, son of Oscar winning composer John Williams, singing lead that rocks.
Definitely one of my favorite Toto songs! Awesome! They really are one of my faves! Ii recommend Georgy Porgy too, its great! Thanks for getting back to Toto. Olli is probably right, if he heard Hold The Line first, he may have liked Rosanna and Africa a little better. Oh well! 😜❤❤❤❤
This was the first hit off the album. You really don't have to dig very deep to find gold from them. "All Us Boys", from their second album "Hydra" has a pretty good video to go with it.
That song is so hot my lobster bib 🦞 caught fire 🔥 !! Great pick bros!!! These guys were world class musicians, Jeff Pocaro , the drummer and his band were studio musicians, they played on a ton of 70s and 80s songs. They are tight as a hangman’s noose. No shit, for real!
It just tickles me to see people react to Toto, Boz, etc. and the players. They are and were some of the finest musicians perhaps in our lifetimes. In demand for sessions, crack musicians. I get tickled and a little nostalgic because the Porcaros and Lukather were my high school mates in LA. I watched Jeff play his first gigs with Steely Dan 50 years ago. He was really the first to make the big time, first with Sonny and Cher, then Steely Dan. He never forgot to recommend somebody he knew to someone. That's how Michael Mcdonald got hired by Steely Dan in 1973. Steve Porcaro told me one time in school that he didn't give a shit about an oral report he had to do, as he was asking me for help. He bitched that he was going to be Fing musician, F oral reports! And so they were.
Steve Lukather is one of the top studio musicians ever! MJ’s Beat It! Had Eddie VanHalen on the intro.. everything else was Lukather.. look him up and see how many songs he has played on.. Steve Porcaro, the same!

Toto's "Africa" with weird Al yankovic.

Africa and their other songs…. Not a fan but this is an all time favorite! Ironically I met my wife in ‘78!
Bobby Kimball's vocals here make it an instant classic, much less the keyboards from David Paich and the guitar from Steve Lukather.
I love Toto, all of their songs are on fire. Haters will hate, who cares. Toto is iconic.
Toto: a group of excellent studio musicians that went out on their own.

Both filter, Rupert homes, and in a more modern example, Mike pozner and now the alchemist are doing the same.
The drum beat of this song inspired many established drummers to change up their game
Had this on an 80s playlist before discovering it was a 70s song. The main hook feels like a quintessential 80s rock thing

This is my favorite Toto song
Such great musicians and two lead singers, love ToTo. How can you not like them?
There’s a reason Boz Scaggs had Toto backing him.. they are one of the biggest studio/backing bands in history…The members have collectively and individually played on over 5000 recordings!!

They played on a lot of Boz Scaggs tunes as studio musicians. Boz is THE guy!!

You guys are just so cool, thanks bros. This is a stellar channel because of ya’ll
They were with out a doubt the best studio back up band of the era.
Georgy Porgy is a must to react to by Toto ft Cheryl Lynn!
Yep... The crew will love that one.
I never knew they collaborated 😩
I’ve had this song stuck in my head for 40+ years, great song!❤
This is a great song & band, we elders love this!👍👏👏👏💜☮️💜💜
We were rockin to this in 1978!! It was my high school senior year!❤❤❤❤

I never used to like Toto, but over the years have enjoyed their style.
I love Olli's honesty/sarcasm!
I don’t, every time he thinks the songs are really good, he starts sipping on his drink! 😂😂
Good reaction, fellas! This is my favorite Toto song. It's a great straight-up rock song. They even had 2 keyboard/piano players!!!
Oh my goodness! Taking a drive down memory lane right now!
My favorite toto song.
Olli, they are a bad ass group of musicians...with some great vocals, glad you gave them that much...gotta get past a band's videos sometimes 🎶🎵💚
The lead singer on this is Bobby Kimball. He left the group in 1986. Joseph Williams (the son of John Williams, the famous film score composer) took over and sang lead on "Africa," which was released in 1986.
Africa was 1982, I think. Paich was the lead singer, but Bobby Kimball was that strong voice in the chorus. You know, the part you remember.
Glad you guys took the request it’s a banger. Corey getting into it is great. 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
Saw guitarist Lukather with Ringo Starr's band last year and they played this, Roseanna and Africa with Edgar Winter on keyboards. Awesome show.
2 members of Kansas split from the band to join Toto....but before they could join....they had to tell Toto they were not in Kansas anymore..
Aaaaahhh! I see what you did their! LMAO!
My parents weren’t into rock so when I heard this for the first time in 7th grade band class I was hooked. Never looked back
