    Signing guentzel at 9 million per would be up there with the worst free agent signing in canucks history. He is way over valued.

      sure 9 million is a lot but the salary cap is raising and we need a winger for pettersson. Guentzal has experience with winning two cups with the penguins and although he provides good offence, he also can play both sides of the puck.

      @@griffinemery3359 his best days are behind him. He is not worth 9 million. He’s a season away from being a 20 goal scorer. Which is fine for 5-7 million. Certainly not 9.

    Run it back and see how season unfolds in terms of trade scenarios. The Canucks had the Oilers (who are now within a game of winning it all) on the ropes and were unlucky with injuries to Demko and Boeser. The Canucks are already built to win it all. They just need a bit of health and bit of in-season adjustment. The only piece they will need to replace is Lindholm. It’s a big hole but not impossible to fill.

    Keep in mind, re-sgining B6 next year and QH43 in 3 years is mandatory

      Absolutely, the Hughes extension will be easier because of the cap rising and OEL’s BS going down to 2.1 million. Boeser’s is going to be tricky because the OEL buyout cap hit goes up to 4.7 for 2 years, and Brock will want a raise. Is he a consistent 30-40 goal player? We’ll know more next year!

      Demko as well in 2 years. I like seeing a few guys with term now (Petey, Miller, Hronek), but I think the above mentioned and Demko will likely want longer term commitment too.

    You need to look at LTIR again. So many people are using LTIR as extra cap room which it is not. All current contracts have to fit in the cap before LTIR space is calculated. So you can't stack LTIR contracts and then go over the cap when signing new players to contracts. Which is what you are doing. The Canucks would have to start the season with one forward short and when LTIR is calculated then, they could sign a free agent to a one year contract or trade for a player. Its may look like a minor difference but it makes a huge difference when free agency is open and a team doesn't have the cap to sign a player. That player will obviously sign elsewhere.

    If we can get Guentzel, Big Z, Myers and Blueger. I think that’s a cup contending team.

    Option 1, but it should be noted that it's almost a forgone conclusion that Van will ship Mikheyev and a 3rd ish to someone for future considerations. That gives them more wiggle room to go after a Toffoli or spend a bit more overall. There's also a reasonable chance that they go after Tanev with this money. Zadorov is as good as gone-- can't have 5.5 on your 3rd pair, even if he did have a great playoffs.

    Would love to see Toffoli come back but worried he’s going to be looking for a big contract. He scores but hasn’t been paid in a while

    Did you include the 2.5 you gain off poolman LTIR?

      For the second calculation I didn’t so the Canucks can spread the money around, sign Dak and Big Z, and still have some wiggle room for a B level winger like Duclair or Toffoli.

    Not gonna change things, as long the nucks have 11 million tied up for one player who provides nothing in the playoffs, we will never have enough depth...

    Trade Mikheyev with 2nd RD pick sweetener

    • @TheBluelineHockey
      @TheBluelineHockey  8 днів тому +1

      As much as I like this idea we need to stop leaking 2nd round picks in sweeteners. I only think they should do this if they’re 100 percent guaranteed to get an impact player.

    Should send mikyehev for nothing to utah, and then suddenly we have 4.5 million more cap space, then sign guentzel og toffoli, if we sign toffoli, then we can keep atlesst one of joshua og big z, resign blueger for hopefully under 2 and myers at 2.5 and then we still have some money to fill the depth spots

    • @CaptainSlayerHD
